It's from Aurora's Whole Realm's Catalogue, a FR supplement that had all these wacky things to buy. Death cheese is made by a catoplebus (not even close to spelled right, but you get the idea) staring at milk until it turns into cheese.
Also, seeing as how we are on a new page, I just want to summarize what has come before for those who are just now reading the thread title and preparing to post.
- Pathfinder will have guns
- They will be extremely common and found in every treasure hoarde
- All plots will be tied into the existence/exploitation of guns
- The entire first volume will be devoted to guns, including 40 gun related feats, 12 gun related prestige classes, and a new base class, the gunslinger
- Guns are cool

NEIN!! I DEMAND ZAT YOU CONVERT TO MY VAY OF THINKING ZIS INSTANT!! I am deeply and personally offended that somewhere in the world someone thinks guns in fantasy aren't cool.
On second thought... meh. "Horses for courses" as my Grandma used to say. Whatever that means.
LOL. I choose to sing a little ditty co-written by Mr. Alan Thicke, his wife Gloria Loring, and some other guy.
Different Strokes
Now, the world don't move to the beat of just one drum,
What might be right for you, may not be right for some.
A man is born, he's a man of means.
Then along come two, they got nothing but their jeans.
But they got, Diff'rent Strokes.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.
Everybody's got a special kind of story
Everybody finds a way to shine,
It don't matter that you got not alot
So what,
They'll have theirs, and you'll have yours, and I'll have mine.
And together we'll be fine....
Because it takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.
Yes it does.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.

I wish people would read the thread before post their random thoughts.
If they did they would realize that Paizo has stated over, and over, and over, and over ......that guns are NOT IN THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE! and that they will play no bigger of a role then they do in Forgotten Realms or Greyhawk. Read, instead of throwing around uninformed thoughts.FH
For my part, I did read that. And then I posted about how I felt about a future involving guns and fantasy. Seems like the pro-fantasy gunpowder folks are getting very agitated about a non-passionate yet dissenting point of view.
Then again, maybe you're referring to someone who freaked out on the idea. I didn't read every post. If someone out there rattled Fakey so uneccesarily, shame on you and may you be shot with a +4 ruger of wounding.

;pThanks Fakey. Saving me the trouble. :)
You get a cookie.
Would it make things better if I reminded everyone that, as you stated earlier in this thread, whether there will be guns in Pathfinder depends on how many people post for/against their inclusion? I thought you also said there would be extra consideration given to posts that cite actual historical weapons development as justification for the inclusion/exclusion of guns? And of course, as everyone knows, POSTING IN ALL CAPS IS THE MOST PERSUASIVE WAY TO COMMUNICATE YOUR MESSAGE.

I prefer to etch my meanings in tiny letters onto the end of my rifle's barrel.
"Read!"
"I can't see! It's too small! It's hurting my eyes! Please!"
::coks noisily::
"READ!"
"Okay you think that Pathfinder should--"
"SHOULDN'T, YOU IDIOT! SHOULDN'T!"
"SHOULDN'T!!! I'm SORRY!!!"
"Quit yer cryin'!"
"Oh, Lord, who art in heaven..."
"DID I WRITE THAT?!"
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Oh yes, much better.

I think assault rifles are okay, but just AK-47's and stuff with wooden stocks. The plastic handgrip and butt of the M-16 would just ruin it for me.
See that's what I love about you Heatho, your sensitivity to historical accuracy.
Can we have pineapple grenades? Does Pathfinder feature pineapples, or will the grenades be shaped like some other world-specific fruit?

Interesting fact: odds are you're not going to throw a hand grenade out of the blast radius of the thing, so you have to duck-and-cover.
I've thrown 2 in the Army!!! That's a weird place to be man, in a bunker with 150 other guys each holding 2 live grenades to their chest, waiting to go out on the grenade range. One hundred and fifty men, all thinking the exact same thing: "I hope nobody here is a wackadoo."

I remember sitting in the grass about 100 yards from the grenade range, on the safe side of the bunker waiting my turn. I kept getting bit or stung by some kind of little bug that I never could see or catch, and so did the rest of my platoon.
Then I caught one and realized it was a hot little piece of shrapnel.
Then later I got tear-gassed.
That was my birthday.

I just flicked to the pic in the back of the DMGII entitled "Jozan drops the Wand of Orcus in the Tarrasque's gaping maw..."
Yeah, I don't think guns will be a problem.
(Unless the Wand of Orcus is going to be common ...?
... how about the Tarrasque ... will that be common?
... I just KNOW Jozan's are going to be a dime a dozen!)

Ah, the gas chamber. And there's always that one guy that refuses to take his mask off, so you have to stand in there for what feels like forever, but is probably closer to 2 minutes.

Turin the Mad |

Well, frankly, if the new campaign world is set up with lots of "GM discretionary options " - such as the aforementioned firearms, which as I recall were preceeded by early cannon - then it makes things mucho more enjoyable.
And I do wholly agree, that having a single 'Paizo'-done early cannon and firearms reference for d20 would simply be awesome.
Finally, if the firearms are presented as optional, the Pathfinder stuff will have to be sure to deliniate the alternatives in a given scenario were gunpowder implements are 'default present' while many won't elect to include them.
From what I can see thusfar, I don't recall seeing anything along the lines of an actual 'Guide to Pathfinder' thingie, deliniating the baseline campaign rules et al...

I never knew just exactly how much mucus was inside my head until the teargas room made it all come out at the same time. Afterwards, my head bobbed in a slight breeze for two days.

I'm coming in a little late here, but what's wrong with someone having five arms? I mean, four mkes more sense to me, but if you want five arms, so be it. I don't see how it upsets the game balance.

OK, I'll bite ...
The fifth arm comes in handy for cocking the pistol or loading the ones held by the other four arms. That's why we prefer five arms around here ...

Ok you Primitive Screwheads, listen up! You see this? This... is my boomstick! The 12-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about $109.95. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?

Yeah, I hadn't realized that snot could hang from my nose to the ground in a continuous string while I was standing upright. I think I left a trail from the gas chamber to the tree where I finished clearing out the contents of my skull.

I've never been a fan of guns in medieval games. They're always developed having diminished capacity as far as how easy or quickly they can be fired and/or reloaded, as a way to politely say, "it's balanced that way", so that all the other weapons aren't dominated or made entirely obsolete. Guns are the reason why medieval arms and armors died out. I just can't stomach the idea of having pee-shooters in my games. What's the point of adding in something that's ridiculously hard to use as guns are typically portrayed? It'd be like a warrior with his sword having to whip out his whetstone, and be required to sharpen it furiously ("Jokan, what the heck are you doing behind that rock?!?") before attacking. ;-)

Antioch |

I have no problems with firearms existing in D&D games. Really it comes down to the setting and the DM's decision. In Forgotten Realms they do, while in Eberron it doesnt make sense for them to be there.
Since firearms are equipment, it should be fairly easy to simply swap them out in exchange for any other ranged weapon.
Though I personally play Eberron and really enjoy it, I'm not about to say no to guns in general: I'll just change them into something else.

:) This got weird....
Back to guns...
Guns, lots of guns!
Less magic junk, it ruins my medieval style setting! I can't even make castles in my campaign due to magic, since it makes the concept obsolete. And no more walled cities. In our world they were made obsolete by cannons. In D&D they are obsolete due to magic.
In other words what is so wrong with a gun... does your mage have a wand of magic misiles? Or a wand of fireballs? Guess what, both are far more devestating than a gun.
It will ruin the flavor of the game? Do you have castles and walled cities in your game? Why... magic made them obsolete. If you are going for a world flavor of knights and castles and monsters, then D&D is not the game you should be playing. Which brings to mind armor... you have your knights wearing plate armor? Why, guess what, the crossbow and magic would make them obsolete. Crossbows did that in the real world. So if you are using crossbows, throw out your heavy armors, especially if you are going for a "realistic" flavor medieval setting.
So, since probably 99% of the above people realize that they are not using a realistic setting why not allow guns?
In the game I play in we have two guns in the party and not a one of us wants to use the feat to learn to use them. We'll probably sell them.
Guns, lots of guns. :)
