The gentle hum of the 24 servers on my half of the lab. Soothing white noise.
But when nobody's looking, in no particular order;
Hoobastank - Disappear
Mudvayne - Not Falling, World So Cold, Happy?
Godsmack - Voodoo, I Stand Alone
No Doubt - Hella Good
Rob Thomas - All That I Am, Smooth (with Santana)
INXS - Never Tear Us Apart, Mystify, Pretty Vegas
Breaking Benjamin - Diary of Jane, So Cold, Polyamourus, You
Lacuna Coil - Enjoy the Silence, Heaven's a Lie
Avenged Sevenfold - Seize the Day, Unholy Confessions
VAST - Touched
Evanescence - Going Under, Bring Me to Life
30 Seconds to Mars - Attack, A Beautiful Lie, From Yesterday
The Muppet Show - Manamana, I'm Going to Go Back There Someday
Bruce Dickenson - Tears of a Dragon
Dream Theatre - Pull Me Under
My tastes are insane.

Voxtrot - "Raised by Wolves"
That's where this drawing came from; title track. When I showed it in Nashville it was titled "I Remember You Were Reckless, You Were Hungry, You Were Real" but that doesn't really fit in a browser window. If you get the chance to see them live, do it. One of the best concerts I've seen in a long time.

Huh. I'd seen that drawing before, but I never made the connection. Cool.

Yeah, I can't blame you for not making the connection; no one knew right off the bat what the hell I was every trying to convey in my pictures in school. Just too weird/obtuse/only make sense to me. Sometimes I get images and stories in my head from songs, like what Eddie Munster's courtship ritual might be (or maybe what mine actually is) or a sad story about inmates slow dancing, each imagining someone else instead of who they're really with ("I'd break the law once every week to feel your touch").

On occasion, people on the boards have asked "who is this Peter Mulvey guy that Shiny keeps raving about?" Well, I tracked down a few clips of his stuff on youtube, and here they are:

Meatloaf, Bat out of Hell III, a new cd in my collection so I have only played it two or three times. So far I find a few songs harder than I like. I really enjoyed Bat out of Hell and Bat out of Hell II even more so. I really enjoy Meatloaf, he is so dynamic in the songs he sings and most of them are written by Jim Steinman, one of those perfect writer/singer combinations in my opinion.
