Gotta love the second one, if for no other reason, than he references letting his freak flag fly.
Long live David Crosby!

You're welcome. But I think Liz deserves the credit for posting it there.

Yes, but... I hadn't see The Technology Guide, either! This showed me two amazing things I'd missed! (Really don't know how I'd missed the technology guide, but I did.) :D

EDIT: but yes, I'm really thankful to Liz, too!

I buckled a couple of weeks ago and bought the Le Orme box set - 11 albums for £23 (good for me, not so good for Le Orme). Mostly great - the one that surprised and delighted me most was Florian, which sounds nothing like their early '70s stuff, being more... Penguin Cafe-ey? Gentle Giant-esque? Don't listen to the 1990 comeback album, btw.

I've also recently found out about the Darkscorch Canticles, a comp of 70s/80s super-obscure HM which also incorporates an original RPG. Am listening to snippets from the comp, which sounds pretty good - not played the game, but the idea's a beaut, either way.

Got to see an awesome show last night featuring my Syracuse buddies Friendless Bummer, as well as my friend Joel's band Advertising, Jawbreaker Reunion (nothing to do with actual Jawbreaker), and What Moon Things.

My local comrade went behind my back and got all into Hawkwind while I wasn't paying attention.

I've never really dived in. Could never find their records, hadn't really thought about them after I discovered the internet. But I knew enough to namedrop them when I gave my comrade his first Michael Moorcock for Xmas. Now, I go over his house and he's like, oh yeah, In Search of Space is pretty good but it lacks some of the nuanced depths of later work (or some such) and I'm all like, m+%$%&%#+!#!, you didn't even know who Elric was six months ago!

Be sure to drop some Lemmy Kilmister references as well.

Currently listening to Bag Raiders with their self-titled album.

Speaking of nuanced depths, Sons of Odin and Sleipnir both by Manowar. However, Odin's got fed up of waiting for me and has gone home to dry-clean his eyepatch, so I've moved on to De De Lind. Much doomier than most other Italian prog records of that period (that I've heard) - I really like it.

Cloud Connected by In Flames

Getting some serious flashbacks to high school. I don't think I've even thought about In Flames in years... Thanks, man.

In Flames was the co-headliner the second night of WackenOpenAir and my friend Steve and I were like 'what is this emo band doing here'. Then they played...I was glad to be corrected. :) They kicked ass. Singer made a faux-pas by championing Warsteiner beer onstage, which we were told was like Busch/Bud here in the States. They opened with Cloud Connected, which won me over. System, Reroute to Remain, and Take This Life were all there to make a MOSH PIT!

Yeah, he's well beyond that, telling me about how Lemmy got kicked out on their first North American tour, etc., etc. I think he watched a documentary or something...
