Hi,
After reading the "Chains of Blackmaw" adventure, I must say I find this adventure very impressive and I will probably use it in the future (when the players are the right level).
However, I'm probably missing something obvious, but I have difficulty picturing an event in the adventure.
(Of course, I can always "wing it", but seeing that Mr Logue visits this forum I thought to ask it here).
The thing is: after the release of the former warden and the blackguard by the shadowmaster, how do these people get from level 3 to level 2?
- if I'm not mistaken, the elevator is at level 2 (shadowmaster is said to climb down from this level), and the elevator can only be controlled at the surface.
- the chains of the elevator are greased (DC 25 climb check, which for the former warden is a hard job with only a +6 climb modifier, and impossible for the blackguard).
So, any thoughts?

Excellent question! I guess I would have Jarrett, or a few of his lackeys seize control of the elevator controls on the surface after freeing the Vaden and bring them up. Alternately you could have Grolos just muscle them up by pulling the chains up to the second level (He's awfully freakin strong), or even climbing down and doing it Andre the Giant style! ;-)
