I'm going to be running the Parrot Island part of 'There is no Honor' this Sunday. I was going over the Huecuva's stat block and I noticed under the special actions block it has this ability: death touch 1/day (1d6).
I have looked through the DMG, PHB, and MM; I couldn't find anything. Could someone please point me in the right direction, as to where I could find more information about this ability?
Thanks,
Liam

This is the domain ability of the Death Domain in the Players Handbook.

Thank you very much! Obviously I didn't look hard enough.

Death Domain Granted Power:
You may use a death touch once per day. Your death touch is a supernatural ability that produces a death effect. You must succeed on a melee touch attack against a living creature (using the rules for touch spells). When you touch, roll 1d6 per cleric level you possess. If the total at least equals the creature’s current hit points, it dies (no save).
Veldimar is a 1st level cleric, so he would be able to slay outright any PC with up to 6 hit points remaining. Of course, he still have to succeed with a melee touch attack...
Q: Is it possible for Veldimar's slam attack to stack with his death touch attack? In other words, he bypasses the PC's armor and deals bludgeoning damage (slam), releasing a burst of negative energy (death attack)... I seem to recall that other supernatural abilities / touch attacks can stack with unarmed strikes, so it would make sense that Veldimar's slam / death touch attack would be possible.

I believe you can combine the two together but it would be considered a slam attack instead of a touch attack. If you could hit the character's normal AC you could then release the burst of negative energy for the additional damage. If you decide to use the touch AC then it isn't considered a slam attack but would still deliver the burst of negative energy for the appropriate damage.

Ronin, that's what I was getting at, though it wasn't clear. That said, I interpret death touch to be an all-or-nothing attack. If the die roll comes out higher than the target's remaining HP, they die. If not, they are not affected.
I could be wrong, but that's how I've always read it.
I think that's the way it works as well. While I don't think the damage from the slam attack stacks with the death touch attack damage the end result seems to be the same. Seems to me you'd roll the slam damage first which reduces the target's HPs and then you roll the death attack damage. If the death attack damage meets or exceeds the target's current HPs it dies with no save.
So essentially it does stack in the end it seems.
