Freeport and the Savage Tide

Savage Tide Adventure Path

I was looking at my gaming library when I realized how much of my Green Ronin Freeport material just might be worked into the Savage Tide. I really haven't used much of the Freeport setting before, but I was wondering if any of this untapped material could enhance my pirating urges in the current adventure path. I welcome your insights (both pro and con) on this subject. Please feel free to present your experiences with both of these settings.

Please, and thank you,
Skech

I have used neither Freeport nor Savage Tide yet, but in the Jeklea Bay, upon which Sasserine is situated, there are some islands (Flotsom and Jetsom Island, IIRC) that are part of the Sea Princes lands. They beg to be the place where freeport is situated. And there are hints of a pirate fleet (was it Crimson Fleet ?) in the AP, a which could use Freeport as base of operations.

You could pretty much drop Freeport in for Scuttlecove.

Yeah I was thinking about how I could use Freeport as well. Scuttlecove sounds like it would be promising location to insert stuff. Im really not sure you could use it whole cloth, but as a way to add some interesting NPC's and side quests (espcially in regards to the affiliations. Perhaps some serpentmen hunting or Cthulhuiod type of stuff.

Liberty's Edge

There was a Tales of Freeport book with a few adventures in it.
One that stuck out was an event-based adventure about the goings on at an inn one night; a bunch of npc's with numerous ongoing plots and schemes. I think it would be snazzy and easily transposed into a city along the way.

There's also a lot of to do made of the Yellow Sign,...

Freeport really isn't scummy enough to be Scuttlecove, but you could certainly use some of the elements from it. You could replace the Cult of the Yellow Sign with the Ebon Brotherhood, a renegade splinter of the Scarlet Brotherhood which worships Tharizdun.

In my own campaign, I used the Freeport materials to flesh out Vernport, the Sea Barons town taken over by pirates after the Greyhawk Wars.

Of course, that's hundreds of miles from where Savage Tide takes place.

Actually, the best Freeport nominee in Savage Tide is Sasserine. Scuttlecove's a lot more dangerous and evil and lawless than Freeport, really; it's not a place most PCs would want to live.

I like the idea of Freeport being part of the Savage Tide Adventure Path. What about adding it in just as it is but on a nearby island? You can create different pirate factions... the dark hearted scum of Scuttlecove and the more gentrified pirates of Freeport.

And those Lovecraftian twists in Freeport just beg to be side trek adventures.
