Now that it has been officially announced, we can talk about MMV. A little bit.
I worked on it. Jason Bulmahn worked on it. I know at least two of our regular contributors worked on it, but because it was worked on by almost a dozen writers, I can't recall everyone else.
I just hope some of my monsters made it through development in a recognizable form. ;D

Well...my question is will it be EXACTLY like MM4 or is it toned down a bit?
Exactly how many monsters are in the book? Or an estimate, I should say. Please tell me it's more than MM4. The problem with MM4, to me, was that a Monster Manual was always meant to be chock full of monsters to place in campaigns. For a 224-page book to have less NEW monsters (not counting classed old monsters) than a 96 page book (Monsters of Faerun) simply boggles my mind to no end.
Also, please tell me there's not an overload of pages dedicated to classed monsters. That wasn't received very well by many, I believe. Not by me, actually.

This Monster Manual officially replaces MMIII with the title "Coolest. MM. Cover. EVER."
True, that cover is cool...I was actually only thinking of 3rd edition covers when I said that MM5 had the coolest.
I actually have always liked the 1e MM's cover. It looks kinda silly, but it shows a good view of how monsters are lurking everywhere.

I am pleasantly surprised by the MM V's cover (and the round robin of paizo staffers and writers who contributed!). I always thought that the creature on the cover of the MM IV looked like some kind of doped out mole. How lame. The art just didn't convey what I'm sure it was supposed to there.
V, on the other hand, looks like a more than appropiate companion for I and III (II is kind of eh - I've never been sure what it was supposed to represent, and the colors clash too much).
Any new kinds of rakshasa in there? (Three is simply not enough)

They had one in the Book of Nine Swords.

Shh...don't speak too loudly, or they'll stuff classed rakshasas into MM5. >.> <.<
(:P)

So...are their any new undead or dragon kin?
Alas I only had a handful of stuff to do, and from that handful there was none of the above. However I think I am safe in saying that all the standard types of monsters (giants, fey, constructs, monstrous humanoids, undead, and others) are covered.
And then there is that huge selection of levelled up duskblade modrons, celestial beguiler abiels, and variant yakfolk... just kidding.
;)

*bump*
This book is coming out pretty soon, and we know that it will have some new monsters (probably the "Baker" from the WotC's Create-A-Monster thingy) and some classed ones (apparently vampires, kuo-toa, and hobgoblins).
Anyone else excited? All the 2007 D&D products I've purchased so far have been really good, so I have high hopes for this one.

apparently vampires,
I hope some of these vampires w/ class levels have some in druid, so they retain their true mythological shapechanging.
Also: why do we need a soucebook to tell us what monsters w/ class levels would be like: if we wanted them we could make them ourselves. I'm gonna make my damn shapechanging vimpires!!!
