Paladin Prestige Classes

3.5/d20/OGL

Anyone wonder how they came up with the handful of prestige classes that a paladin can take and still be able to progress as a Paladin? They all seem to fit the classic paladin (like the Hospitaler), but I'm wondering how some others didn't make the cut - like the Divine Crusader, Pious Templar and Shining Blade. Just a random observation because I was bored.

What books in particular are you looking at for prestige classes? Because I could swear that Shining blades were still in the mix somewhere. But I have been wrong before.

Those are just some random ones out of Complete Divine, Complete Warrior and Exalted Deeds

I added Anointed Knight (BoED) to the list of PrCs that a paladin can take and be able to return to taking paladin class levels. However, I did not rule it as a PrC that advances the Paladin abilities or mount.

I even went so far as to associate the PrC with Heironeous based on the idea of Heironeous' invulnerability due to the salve in which they covered him at his birth.
