Ravnica as an RPG setting?

I just read some more about Ravnica, and found it very intreaguing. If your not familiar its the new "world" that the next three magic the CCG is using as its theme. Here's some links before you read on:

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=magic/ravnica/home

click on the ravnica logo for some world info, and then the 4 guild logos for more info.

It looks very cool to me and I was wondering if anyone else noticed its RPG potential. Magic cards will give us 300 or so peices of art to use, as well as subplots and characters from the actual card stats and flavor text.

The idea of a world entirely made of 1 big city sounds cool, but the fact that parts of the city are ruined, or over grown, and that there are 10 guilds fighting for control just puts it over the top in coolness for me.

You took the words right out of my mouth. The moment I saw this setting my mouth began watering just thinking of all the roleplaying possibilities. I would absolutley love for someone to come out with a D20 Ravnica source book. That would make my day.

O.O; What's going on guys?!? What?!? I was intereted in Ravnica and what everyone had to say about making it a DnD setting, but what!?? I randomly read my name and I had an instant anyerisim....

Please take no offense Mr Ranger... I was just poking fun at you (you did say in the other thread that you wanted to write for Wizards of the Coast). Your opinions and ideas here will ALWAYS count. You're among fellow players.

I just visited the website and have to agree this would make one heckuva campaign setting. Full of intrigue and adventure, I'd definitely be interested in it. Maybe we should contact them and start a petition or something.

*Shrugs* It's ok. Just wanted to clear things up before I get an anyerisim. O.o; I luv you guys...B*B!

I'd love to at least see articles in Dragon and Dungeon magazines with ideas for creating campaigns based in the current M:tG settings and maybe a quick adventure. Wizards woundn't have to put forth the money for a full book that may or may not be sucessful, but provide some more viriety for those of us that play both Magic: the Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons 3E (or whatever other D20 game).

I wholeheartedly agree!! I’ve been a gamer for many years, but was never into Magic the Gathering. As an avid collector of many things I avoided it like the plague, figuring that I couldn’t afford to get sucked into anything new. Until now. When I saw the source material for Ravnica, I had to check it out. I’ve been incredibly impressed. I would love to see Wizards of the Coast use this as a launching point for a crossover game setting. I think that they should seriously consider the possibilities of getting Magic players who don’t role-play into Dungeons and Dragons and vice versa. It makes perfect sense from a marketing perspective.

Someone is working on a translation of MtG to D20 mechanics - I don't play Magic anymore, but this looks really darn spiffy:

It would be intriguing to see if the world setting(s) would translate well.
