New dice game from Green Lakes Games!

Are you ready for a pick-up-and-play dice game for the holidays, or want to spruce up your dice collection? Green Lakes Games is here to help you out!

In IronDie, your goal is to eliminate all of your opponent's Life dice through Attacks, breaking through their Defense dice! With only nine dice at your disposal, will you choose one Smasher—or three? What about your defenses? Will you boost them with Nullifiers and Barriers? With the additional tactical option of dice color affecting each hand you roll, this unique dice game will have you throwing these bones for ages!

Even if you don't play the IronDie strategy game, these are perfect dice to add to your bag for effect counters, color-coding your energy attacks, or for making that really impressive high-level disintegrate damage roll!

Wow! Those look like really cool dice! -Unless I'm completely missing something, there's no freaking way I'm shelling out that kind of cash for a set of dice!

Huh, I hadn't seen dice based games in a while and now I've seen like 2 or 3 all in a few weeks. :)

I was able to handle these dice at PaizoCon 2011 and they are impressive. They are cast from steel, and each given a nice patina. The colors will rub off on the high points after some good use or time in a dice bag, but the wear only adds to the character.

While the price is steep, if you like to collect dice and enjoy artistic dice, these are worth the price. You will love the heavy feel in your hand and showing them off to the people you play with.

And also it is a game, and a good one, in addition to being cool dice.

$50 for dice? Give me another copy of my Core Rulebook instead, thanks.

Yeah, they should be made out of silver or gold at that price.

Is there a review of the game somewhere or example of game play? For $50 I'd like to know how to play the game before shelling out that kind of cash.

Their website, irondieamerica.com has some examples of play, I do believe.

Keep in mind people, you are getting 9 dice, so each one is a little more then $5. Each die is not $50.

$5 a die isn't bad, but this is a collectible dice game. There are mechanical advantages to having a mix of colors and types of dice, from what I can tell by reading the rules. While that is a bit more than your average CCG, metal dice are hardier than cardboard. Knowing my friends as I do this is going to be a hard sell, but in a few months I'll probably pick up a few sets and try it out at the LGS.

EDIT: Nevermind, my wife likes the pretty dice, so I'll be picking these up sooner than later. :P

I was actually fond of these THORN DICE, but they also come with quite a steep price ($28-$183!!) and I don't believe they're part of any sort of game on their own.

Overall I think I agree with Dinketry, I'd rather have another rule book (or copy thereof) than a set of some admittedly sexy dice that I'm likely not going to be allowed to roll on my friend's table due to weight (surface marring)... which was the problem with the brass die set I have, now collecting dust.

I too am a huge fan of the thorn dice, but worried for our DM's table.

Look through the gallery of the guy who makes the thorn dice on Shapeways. He has a d20 tumbler that I WANT so bad! It isn't for sale though.
