Invoking the names of Master Li and Number Ten Ox must mean that this is some great story-telling and fantastic adventures, Bridge of Birds is one of the best fantasy novels ever.
I'd like it better if our two heroes met up with the Golarion version of Judge Dee myself, but your idea is exceedingly cool too.

When I saw the new Judge Dee movie (sadly after I'd finished writing the book), my immediate reaction was that Andy Lau should play Count Jeggare.

You've got a pretty good chance of that if it ever does make it to film. For some reason Chinese and British actors will be in just about anything as long as there is a paycheck involved. For instance, I could have paid Michael Caine or Anthony Hopkins $20 and either would have typed that last bit for me.

They've fallen into the nasty habit of wanting to eat regularly?

I've read both, and without giving too many spoilers, I'll say Master of Devils reminded me more of the third Master Li novel, Eight Skilled Gentlemen, and a bit of E. Hoffmann Price's The Devil Wives of Li Fong.
All recommended.

It wasn't an insult, merely an observation. I'm not teenager anymore so I realize that people need to make money. I see certain actors and actresses (mostly French and American, but that's just what I see) who will only take "important" or "edgy" rolls and lots of Chinese and British actors don't seem to share that pretention.
