Reloading firearms

In one of my games a player has asked me whether reloading a firearm as a swift or free action still provokes attacks of opportunities. I am unsure as the player has pointed out that swift actions spells do not provoke.

What do people think?

Loading any firearm provokes attacks of opportunity.

Edit: Just because the time is reduced through feats or gunslinger abilities doesn't take away the AoO, unless the feat or ability specifically says so.

Edit #2: For example, the 11th level gunslinger deed allows you to reload as a swift action or a free action, and it specifically states that it does not provoke an AoO.

You'll need a feat like Deft Shootist or use the Lightning Reload Deed to avoid the AoO. Otherwise GS get murdered in melee.
