Glad to see this up!

When will it be possible to order the case incentive? In the past, if I put an upcoming Pathfinder Battles case into my shopping cart, I would be given the chance to purchase its case incentive with it -- but that option is not yet coming up for the goblin village in Legendary Adventures.

Woa this Nalfeshnee looks good and is a nice addition to the PFB demons line!

Is it still huge in PF2? I know Legendary adventure will have some huge, I hope this one stay huge!

It probably will, but won't know for awhile, it's not in the Bestiary.

This is set to ship from Paizo beginning on september 30th with the october products (which have an october 16th street date).
Wizkids still lists this as a september product, but may update tomorrow or next week.

It may be pushed back to an official october release...

There won't be any this week with Gencon starting thursday.

I bet we'll get 4 massive blogs with the missing 32 creatures (including the "Shadow", "Nalfeshnee/Boar Demon" & "Dwarf Rogue" seen on the booster image) & the six dungeon dressings (if those are still a thing) in august.

This set does not include dungeon dressing, a sacrifice at the altar of randomized Huges, but the next set should have them again.

And idea on which day the minis Blog will be appearing?

If that is so, I cannot opt out either. I add the case to my shopping cart, and nothing else happens. For previous cases, I would be prompted that I can buy a case incentive for each case in my shopping cart.

Or are they requiring a subscription to get the case incentive now? They did not do that in the past.

When I signed up for my subscription it asked me if I wanted to include case incentives and I checked yes.

If you are asking about ordering them without a subscription, I may be wrong but I don't think that is possible until after they unlock it for purchase after all subscriptions go out on paizo.com but other websites have them for individual purchase on launch date and pre order, possibly cheaper than paying full price.

As for adding to cart when buying a case without a sub, I think that should be there and you may want to contact support for clarification if that is your goal. Interested in knowing what shakes out of this.

The Case Incentive is about 4/5 inches deep and like 16x16 square.... It's huge and came in its own shipped box.

So, when is this supposed to ship? I have my subscription of Pathfinder Battles, but do I have to do something to order this? I don't want to order it, then I automatically get a second order. As much as I would love the minis, my wallet would spontaneously combust.

On the subscription shipping page Sara Marie gave instructions on how to determine if you want to get the sub shipped to you. Shipping costs went through the roof for some customers so they were looking for a way to inform customers.

To determine what your shipping is add the item to your cart and get to the shipping page to see what it is. DO NOT COMPLETE CHECK OUT. If you are willing to pay that shipping then email customer support with the subject Battles Subscription Shipment and let them know you want to have it shipped. DO NOT COMPLETE CHECK OUT.

They are holding shipment until they can inform everyone via email probably next week what the situation is.

October 2019 Shipping thread

I just spoke to customer service and had them go ahead and ship mine, but yes, there was definitely an increase in shipping cost. Basically an increase of 300% for Ground shipping, which is what they normally ship.

The option was given for Priority shipping (USPS) which was much less. Only added about $20 per case (total of around $55 per case). The incentive was quite expensive at total of about $35 per case.

The incentive I don’t have as much of an issue with, as this is probably an exception with the larger than normal incentive (Goblin Village). But I am sure the increase in price for the normal case is due to the Huge miniatures added to this set. The customer service rep. indicated the normal case is increased in weight of around 7 lbs to 12 lbs (!).

Is Huge also an exception, or did Mark say we are going to see those more in future sets? The rep on the phone indicated that Erik (Mona) is speaking to Wiz Kids now on what is coming for future sets and what steps can be taken to alleviate this.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook Subscriber

For me Legendary Adventures will come out ~$25 more than Ruins of Lastwall, ~$40 more than Kingmaker and Jungle of Despair. For a larger incentive and a number of huge figurines instead of large that doesn't seem like a terrible increase. The cost of a case is the same, the incentive a little more (but the still steep discount), with most of the increase coming in shipping. Overall that doesn't seem terrible, but obviously it isn't great. Looking at a few other sites I still cannot find the set any cheaper.

I haven't been able to find shipping weights for Icons of the Realms cases, but I've found some for bricks. I've noticed the sets with many huge figures break 3 lbs. Sets without or just one huge figure sit around 1.5 lbs. Sets with a smaller set of huge figures seem to fall between. This seems to roughly match up with the jump from 7 to 12 pounds we are seeing in the Pathfinder cases. So this isn't an issue with Pathfinder Battles, but with huge figures. I suppose that might have been one of the factors that made them not worthwhile in the past?

Since Paizo gives a big discount on their licensed miniatures instead of free shipping, we are just not used to seeing this sort of issue that other sellers are probably seeing with Icons of the Realms. Looking at my Rise of the Runelords case the shipping came out to around $50, but I know that shipping rates have changed since then. The case seems to have also weighed 12 lbs.

Maybe going forward the better idea will be have a smaller share of huge figures? Obviously not always the big playset incentives either. Some of the larges in Pathfinder Battles can get quite weighty as is. This is a tough balance. I'm not sure where the line is on weight that causes a huge increase in shipping, but targeting that might be preferred. If huge figures are only present in bigger numbers every third or second set that probably isn't an issue for me.

Any word when the singles will be available this month? I had an unusually skewed distribution and need to pick up a few to collect the set.

When will cases for subscribrers ship?

It's been a week since I responded to customer service email regarding increased shipping costs, asking if I wanted to have it ship. I have not received a response from customer service in that week or a note about the shipment being sent out.

I saw it arriving in local game stores today.

Wondering if the shipping date got moved back for subscribers? Thanks for your help.

They were delayed by the public holiday on Monday and then by an unexpected staff shortage for a day or two.

Subscriber copies are shipping (I've got mine) but, given the number of people likely to amend their shipping options this month, I suspect they're a fair way behind.

Here's the latest update from Customer Service, I think.

Personally i don't care about shipping costs, as i don't have to pay any because of ordering via my FLG store.

I ordered the "Huge Blue Dragon" for $19.99 plus $2.99 shipping & the "Boar Demon" and "Goblin Chieftain" for $14.99 and $7.99 plus $2.99 shipping from the fastest and cheapest online seller a week ago, because i only ordered 2 bricks before the deadline and wanted to make sure i had these rare minis.

But i can see that the bigger boosters combined with the really big "Goblin Village" are a problem for other people.

Maybe in the future the bigger case incentives should be combined with the normal size booster sets?

But as i know Wizkids, it is not a big concern for them and because most people seem to buy their minis in hobby stores, i can see why that is so.

What i see as a problem more and more is, that the next two D&D sets have been announced with their respective case incentives (together with computer renders showing them) as well as a lot of special releases for 2020 (BIG Tower playset & even bigger Yawning Portal Tavern set among others), but there is NO info for the next Pathfinder Battles set(s) and only minimal Info for Starfinder Battles (there will be 2 blister packs coming in 2020).

Paizo needs to become faster with their minis announcements OR let Wizkids handle that, as they are much faster with both their own and D&D products.
If i pre-order all cool stuff for D&D and Wizkids 4D announced for 2020, i won't have much money left for Paizo minis when they are eventually announced. ;-p

I have now received my set of Legendary Adventures miniatures and Goblin Village incentive. There are many great things about this set -- especially the goblin village.

However, as an orc fan I have to say that the orcs in this set are deplorable. The sculpts are a sad departure from many of the Pathfinder Battles past orcs -- most of which are clearly the best orc sculpts in pre-painted miniatures. I find the orc sculpts in this set to be absolutely the worst sculpts.

Could we please get more quality control on future orc sculpts as I would like to see them return to their former glory.

Thank you.

Edit:

I am quite pleased with my case and goblin village. There were some minor issues with the pieces of the goblin village, but nothing that presents any repair difficulties.

I went through the entire case, opening boxes and checking off each mini that I got at least one of in order to determine which singles I might need to consider ordering. It turned out that I did not have to consider ordering any -- I got at least one of every single possible mini in the case. That was an unusual thing with past cases, correct?

No thats the aim - and if one doesnt get a complete set you should only be missing one or two rares. (I believe Wizkids typical success rate with PFB sets was 91% had a complete setlist or something like that). Granted, this set is something of a departure from the norm so that rate may not hold.

I didn't get a complete set this time around, as it happens. Thats only the second time I've missed out in over thirty cases.

It's a distinguishing feature from the D&D sets where I've never got a complete set out of one case.

Presumably that means it's a result of paizo policy rather than wizkids. I'm very grateful, if that's the case. Completionism is important to me.

I got my case today and it is missing 3 rares including the $40 blue dragon. So after paying $375.88 for the subscription case and the bonus item and postage I now have to spend $44.63 (this includes discount plus postage). To finish the set.

I am beyond disappointed.

Ah, you must have got a duplicate brick in the case. Happened to me twice now in 16 sets, once I got two dupes in a set. So 1 brick three times and a lone different one. It happens periodically and you’re right it is very disappointing.

For me I would hate to miss the boar demon.

What rares did you get duplicates of if I can ask?

Pathfinder Adventure, Adventure Path, Maps, Rulebook Subscriber

I received my case and I'm happy to report I received a full set. I'll be posting a full review in the review section at some point. In the meantime, here are some of my general thoughts:

1. Paizo needs to start photographing their pieces in-hand much earlier and releasing said photos to online shops. Seriously. I'm not sure where the pictures come from that many of these shops use, but they look terrible. For some reason, people take photos so close up, and it makes the overall quality of the Battles pieces look disgusting. If I were new to Paizo and had never purchased a case, there is no way in any universe I'd purchase a brick, case, or any individual pieces before seeing a video review.

I've been a Paizo/Pathfinder Battles customer and fan for a long time. I've been through the ugly days where there were multiple pieces per set that looked horrible in-hand. That hasn't really been the case for awhile. Sure, there are still pieces in a set that I don't like, but most often that's not a quality issue. Every set typically has a Dweomer Cat-like unacceptable quality miniature. But usually it's just limited to one per set these days. Paizo does itself a real disservice not putting out in-hand pictures immediately after getting in an early set.

2. If Paizo is too strapped for time when it comes to taking pictures, it's time to officially team up with Gallant Goblin, the YouTube channel. They do an excellent job in their reviews of rotating the in-hand miniatures, with great lighting, great resolution, etc. The product isn't so close that it distorts the on-table appearance. That is, when you see the miniatures in those videos, they better represent what you're visually going to get with each piece when used at your table.

Otherwise, potential buyers are going to look at these super zoomed-in shots on the third-party sites and bulk at purchasing them. And yes, you being to see more and more of the imperfections. That's to be expected from hand-painted miniatures from humans that likely have a running clock on how long they can take per miniature. But at no point have my eyes ever zoomed in as close to a miniature as some of these shots. Our eyes can't zoom that way. So it's time for Paizo to get actively involved and borrow still shots from Gallant Goblins' videos. Start sending them an early case, not just a brick. Let them break it all down, and in return use their shots to distribute as official in-hand pictures for all the third-party websites.

3. Paizo should error on the side of "bigger" miniatures when determining miniature size. While I'm happy to finally have an official Paizo Aboleth, it's a bit on the small side. I'm pretty sure the Large-sized Aboleth (or whatever it was called) from a handful of sets ago was slightly bigger. This isn't a bad miniature, just a bit underwhelming.

4. The Giants in this set are no doubt in correct proportion to their Pathfinder scale. The Storm Giant itself is a nice miniature, though one wishes there were some sort of indication that he was indeed a Storm Giant. Some lightning, perhaps?. The Cloud Giant variations are both fine, if not exactly exciting. I can appreciate that Paizo has preserved through its two editions the size of Giants from D&D 3.5. But when using them at the table, it's sort of disappointing when dragging out the box of Giants and seeing how puny these giants look compared to the bigger 5e versions. If there has been one saving grace for me, it's that 90% of the time, I much prefer the look of Pathfinder giants over their 5e counterparts.

5. While on the subject of small-looking miniatures, the Chimera comes off looking pretty small here. I think it's actually pretty close to scale, but without it's wings outstretched, it feels pretty tiny. I'll have to drag out all my Chimera miniatures and compare them.

6. The Pteranodon also feels small, though it's possible the scale is just right. Per Wikipedia, male Pteranodons had an average wingspan of 18 feet (females were 12 feet). I feel like the size of this miniature is actually correct, but Paizo missed a great opportunity to give the miniature much more presence. Had they gone with a sculpt with outstretched wings instead of raised wings, it would have felt more imposing at the table. Still, the miniature itself is decent.

7. Less surface area of a miniature generally means a lower quality paint job. Unless a miniature has a rarity of Rare, the more colors involved seem to increase the risk of a messy paint job. Never is that more evident than on the Gnome Rogue. None of my Gnome Rogues were as bad as some in-hand pics I've seen from others. However, there's just so much going on color-wise with these little things it looks like Jackson Pollock got upset with Raggedy Ann and through buckets of paint on her.

8. I'd love to see Paizo follow the lead of Wizards, and release previously unpainted (Deep Cuts) miniatures as high-quality pre-painted miniatures. Especially when it comes to humanoids. The fewer humanoids that show up in the Battles sets, the less chance to underperform on their face. WizKids still struggles a bit with light-complexion humanoids. Even the Rare Halfling Wizard in this set doesn't approach the quality of most of the Iconic Heroes line. However, none of them stick out as particularly horrible in this set, in my opinion.

9. I agree with Kor about the Orcs. The sculpts are a letdown from previous versions, no doubt. The older sculpts packed a lot of character into them, even the ones that received poor paint jobs. Between helmets crunching faces and the darker colors used for the skin, these just aren't as impressive to me. What is impressive is that I have sixteen new Orcs for my horde, and that doesn't even count the ones I received in the preview packs.

10. Speaking of preview packs, I'd love to see more of them. The paint job looks a bit higher quality than their counterparts in the Battles case. And it would be a great way to increase our hordes even more. Sign me up for more Kobolds, especially non-red versions.

11. Not really related to this set, but... I'd love to see the Battles line put out a few sets of Pathfinder Battles: Familiars and Pathfinder Battles: Animal Companions. I know some creatures can be found in similar sizes in toy sections. And I definitely appreciate the multiples of animals that make it into the main Battles sets. But I have to imagine that a Legendary Adventures Preview-style set of high-quality Familiars and Animal Companions would sell. Maybe not with so much unnecessary packaging this time around. Speaking of animals, the illustration of the Halfling on the Riding Dog found on page 102 of the PF2 Bestiary would make for a great Rare Medium-sized miniature sooner than later. You could then put a riderless version in the Pathfinder Battles: Animal Companion set.

12. Despite all the issues I brought up earlier, I really do love this set overall. I'm thrilled to be able to continue filling out the armies of more low-level creatures. Many of the Huge pieces look great, including the Dragon Turtle. And I appreciate that the Bugbears and (especially) Hobgoblins now look closer to Goblins in their facial features.

I can't wait to see what is next.

Regarding points 8, 10, and 11: WizKids manufactures Pathfinder Battles minis under license from Paizo. While they seek input from us on a lot of things, they're responsible for deciding what kinds of products they release and how often, how they're packaged and sold, and so on.

Regarding points 1 and 2, again, as we're not the manufacturer, supplying photos of minis to retailers is not our role—WizKids is responsible for marketing their own products. (The photos we take are intended just for our blog and our own webstore, and we generally don't get finished product until shortly before the release date (though every now and then, circumstances allow us to photograph some of the paint masters a few months before release).

Hi Vic, thank you for answering.

You are right on all accounts, the only problem is this:
Wizkids does the advertizing for their own stuff and for D&D, but let's Paizo handle the bulk of showcasing the Pathfinder Battles minis.
Because they have the minis or prototypes much earlier, they show off everything months in advance, but you don't.

There are a not of people collecting multiple lines and that leaves the least money for your products.

Especially for international customers, previews come much too late.

I already pre-ordered the next two D&D sets (december 19 & march 20) & Wizkids 4D stuff coming in june 2020, but there is no Info about Pathfinder or Starfinder Battles coming in 2020...
