So much for partner-bond initiative shenanigans. We tied for last!

<I’m coming, Sijasi!> Zaradanth sends to his partner, as he rushes forward to her side. The dragonkin doesn’t have room to move past her, so looms over her protectively, ready to fend off further attacks with his longsword. He inhales deeply, and roars as he breathes a gout of fire onto both alien animals.

Unless one of the adu provokes an AoO first (Zaradanth has 10 ft reach), he will be ready to use his reaction to Bodyguard Sijasi if/when she is attacked again (grants +2 AC vs. the attack, he takes -2 to his AC until the start of his next turn).

Kalhoun looks over the team. "Don't forget to care for yourself," he says to Sijasi. "We need you healthy to keep the rest of us in good shape." He then moves to the narrow passageway to the west to see if he can determine what lay beyond.

A circular counter, approximately three feet tall, occupies the center of this similarly round chamber. A gap allows access to the space behind the counter, and empty rusted racks are spaced around the counter surface. Two defunct data-ads are mounted to the counter. Doors exit in all directions, and part of the southern wall is missing due to a massive crevice in the floor leading into darkness.

Xeno finds that these data pads have clearly been out of operation for a very, very long time. Even if something would display--which seems unlikely--he probably couldn't see it much through the cracks and dust and grime.

Thistlecore hops onto the circular desk, looking somewhat frustrated.

“For containing many things, we are finding very little that is useful to us in these areas. But there are more places to look.”

He points to the doors in the west and southwest. “Seems like one of these are the next logical stop. Southwest is probably the best so we clear the place in an orderly fashion.”

GM: Did our search of A9 include the stone stairs in the southeast corner of the map? I assume it did, but I want to make sure.


Yes, that's where the predators came from.

Thistlecore leads the way into the chamber to the southwest. The back wall of this chamber is completely gone, revealing a large cavern of rough stone. Clusters of sickly fungus grow in the cracks and corners of the cave, near patches of loose rubble. Metal cabinets hang on the eastern constructed walls, though some of their doors are gone, revealing the shelves within. Bits of ceramic frames poke out from piles of other debris. A door exits to the northeast and a hole in the wall leads northwest.

DC 16 Perception or DC 14 Medicine:
This was an infirmary. Most of the supplies were removed from the cabinets, but some of the remaining scattered bits are long-spoiled medicines and tools. The ceramic frames must have formed a row of beds.

Speaking of seismic activity, as the Stafinders continue to explore the infirmary the loose stone and rubble begins to shake. The shifting earth reveals bones that have clearly been buried for some time.

Wait, no... that's not quite right. The shifting and shaking was contained specifically in that area, so it can't be seismic. Ah. The earth shifted because of the bones, as the skeletons started to--as the bones of the forgotten dead are wont to do--lurch towards the living creatures who came close to them.

The Starfinders are able to note several peculiarities about these skeletons, such as the tattered membranes that may once have been wings, or the way that pinpoints of necromantic energies burn as a foul mockery of life in not two but four eye sockets.

...but perhaps there's a more pressing concern than research.

Zaradanth's weapon strikes the necromantically reinforced bone. It's effective, but the unnaturally hard bone does deflect it a little (DR).

Calhoun and Thistlecore's shots hit their marks and seem effective. The skeleton adorned with scraps of purple gloves starts cracking and looks ready to collapse into inert bones once again.
