I was reading this thread and that got me thinking:
For the people who are more familiar with 1st edition Starfinder than PF2e/SF2e's system... What are the differences?

First: Everything.
Second: Even more somehow.
The systems start with a completely different Action economy. Stuff only becomes more different from there.
This is like asking the difference between DnD and PF2 or PF1 and PF2.
At best you get some things that are thematically similar. But don't even try to match mechanics, math or class progression.

SF2e AC = KAC and EAC in SF1e
SF2e HP = Stanima + HP in SF1e
Used resolve points to recover stamina and avoid death, but no rerolls.
Everyone got attacks of opportunities
Spell lists are by class
Spells topped out at 6th level
Playable species in SF1e were more front-loaded with abilities. Some of these take several ancestry feats to get back, or you only get some abilities back because you have to choose among them, instead of getting all of them at full power by default. I won't say SF1e or SF2e is better for species/ancestries, but I will say some species will benefit from one or the other, especially at lower levels for SF1e and higher levels for SF2e. I'm really looking forward to a completely new ancestry in SF2e that has no SF1e comparison.

I think it is a shorter list to write out what is the same.
* Theme: Spacefaring high technology and high magic fantasy.
* Names: Classes and items often have the same names and try to be approximately equivalent in description and purpose at a high level overview.
* ... Dice: You use dice to add some randomness to the game so that the outcome is not known from the very beginning session.
* ... ... No, that is all that I can think of at the moment.
