Thanks for having me, folks!
Let me know if there's anything in particular I should know as we get started.

Garran Fain |

Dot-de-dot-dot-dot.
Welcome, Callie! Glad to have you. Between the two of us, we should make life heck for enemy casters, since Garran's going to be Disruptive as well.

Callie Cobalt |

Excellent. Callie has been tweaked for mobility so she can get in and around the battlefield to annoy foes as best she can. She'll make a good flanking buddy for you primary-meleers as well.

Vrog Skyreaver |

Working on the first gameplay post now. Should have it up shortly.
EDIT: aaannnddd….it's up. I have a lot more stuff to post, but I wanted to give people a chance to rp a bit first. Callie, feel free to post a vignette of what you're doing in the city while the others discuss things, and (hopefully) I'll be able to bring the two pieces together.

So I discovered today that if you put a color name in the name of the campaign, it effects the text color. Interesting!
I am glad the you decided not to name it "The Hex of The White Chair"...

I made a post to kind of tie in the characters development. During the first book he was a drunk and it would get a bit worse. Then he would start to get better by book three. I felt it would be proper for him to get out of his funk and become a happier drunk. With the time skip...I just decided to bring it full circle and make him a happy drunk.

So it's funny. As I mentioned when I agreed to take over the game, I had been running this for my local group before my last job required me to change hours, and we had gotten into book 4.
When I ran it for them, I was doing all sorts of interesting leads that they were hearing, some of which hinted at future developments, and some of which were just bs. One of the leads they heard was that all of the available healers kits and common potions of remove disease and poison had been bought out in the marketplace.
During book 2, they found a room in the temple that was filled to bursting with potions and healer's kits.
After that, they were super paranoid and tried to follow every lead they heard. It was pretty funny when they found a hairpin that rumor said belonged to a lover of Thousand Bones that was being used as blackmail material. He returned it along with a note that read "what?".

So I discovered today that if you put a color name in the name of the campaign, it effects the text color. Interesting!
I feel I should point out, this only applies if you have the plugin that adds the Color tag to your BBCode options, and only for people who also have the same plugin. For instance, I still see this campaign's name in Black, if you've made it a certain color.

Callie Cobalt |

No, he used to have it named "Hex of the Red Chair" and all of the text in the threads were red. I do not use any plugins and it was showing up that way for me. The only thing that fixed it was when he deleted "Red" from the title. It's just a really weird bug/feature of the boards.
(I bet you could insert a more obscure word for Red like "carmine" though. How about Hex of the Ruddy Chair?)

Garran Fain |

Ah, okay. I must have missed that change to the titles.
I do know that colored text for posts is added in via that plugin - in a Jade Regent PbP I'm in, the one player wanted to use it for their talking sword, to differentiate, but all I saw were "color" tags with the color picked out. A couple other players saw Color, but a couple others did not. We figured out that it was because I did not have the plugin and they did.

Callie Cobalt |

I've got the info dump needed and will share it when appropriate; I'm kind of waiting for another member of the party to post first and get us started. As the newcomer, I feel like I shouldn't be the one to start this conversation...

Garran Fain |

My mother-in-law could not make it in to watch the baby today, so I’m home doing that. I’ll get a gameplay post in if possible, but no promises.

Callie Cobalt |

Nice Harrow reading.
Question - I think every GM I've had for COCT explained the application of the cards and Harrow points differently. When it's relevant will you remind us what, if any, points we have and what we can use them on -- and/or are you using a different system entirely?

GM Skyreaver |

Thanks for reminding me.
I'm going to post the mechanics of the Harrow reading in the Campaign Info tab this weekend, along with how many Harrow Points each of you have and what you can spend them on. I'm not sure what the group's previous GM had going on, but I'll try to stick as close to the book as I can, with appropriate "in character notifications" that you have something special going on (if and when it applies to your character).

Callie Cobalt |

GM, I understand your antsiness, but we WERE in the middle of making a different plan. "Boat" was agreed on, yes, but where we were taking the boat from wasn't. Alistair was putting forward the plan to go out of the city and then come in from the shore. Callie had agreed with that and the other two had not yet weighed in. You just completely ignored that. Why?
I was also appreciating the chance to get to chat with the other PCs in character since I am still getting to know them.
I'll move on since we were given no choice, but I'd appreciate it if Alistair's plan was acknowledged. Maybe it makes no difference plotwise but to allow for some player agency means something.
I will note to the other players that GM Skyreaver did ask for daily posts. I know as a PBP GM myself how frustrating it is when that doesn't happen; if you don't have anything additional to add, it is extraordinarily helpful to GM and players alike to post at least in discussion, "I have nothing else to say at this time" or something like it.

Garran Fain |

Sorry - we're moving groups from two separate buildings to a new building that's just been built at work, and I have a 4 month old at home. I'll try to do better with daily postings - time's just been getting away from me.

A 4 month old is a time sink alone! Understood, just noting this can be helpful.
My apologies.
Gming in PBP is a bit trickier then IRL, cause you have to try and guess when to push things along as the game starts to lull, and I may have jumped the gun a bit.
I'll try to do better going forward.
I totally dig it, just wanted the conversation that was happening to be acknowledged.
Full disclosure, I was once in an awful PBP where every time the PCs would really get into roleplaying and finally we'd start gelling as a group, the GM would get bored and timeskip the plot--and in a few cases where we were interacting with NPC, he'd ignore die rolls if they got in the way of what he wanted to happen (it was a version of Skull and Shackles where you have to influence and interact with a lot of NPCs). So of course the PCs struggled to figure out how to work together with one another or the NPCs, and the game eventually fell apart. So, with apologies, I may have kneejerk reacted to "no, not the sudden timeskips!" a little too hard.

I will be away till Monday or Tuesday for some vacation time.
I will be able to post but when I will be free is a different story.
Most likely late at night.
I will have a post up tonight

Callie Cobalt |

Headed out of town for the weekend. Will check in via phone but please bot if needed.

Alistair Wellington |

I will wait till tomorrow to post. I am hoping some of the others will chime in with thoughts or I will continue to be intimidating like. I do not think I can do it a third time though. Well at least I think our exit is cleared if we should have need to flee...I hope at least.

Callie Cobalt |

Callie has a good Intimidate score (it ties into various pieces of her build, including an arcane duelist-specific bardic performance), but foolishly had tried Bluff first in an effort to draw less attention. And then her die rolls have been low. So far I'd say the Intimidate attempts have been for the best, and looks like we can also Aid Another if a roll goes low.
This said, I'm not sure it's necessary just to answer the question asked us, so I'm going to go ahead. Someone can threaten to feed him his balls once we get closer.

The GM in my last CoCT...
