Surprisingly nice

5/5

The yellow die with red print is a good color combo. The red outlined numbers with red behind and around them look great while still being very readable. I was initially disappointed the dice don't have an Arabian feel to them and don't really evoke the AP, but they've really grown on me and they've become a regular choice in the primary five dice sets I pick out before each game session.

Maybe. There was a fire at Q Workshop's factory.

Aw crud! That sucks!

It seems to be a bug in our distributor's database. I looked and it has switched to 1/1/2013. I bet it will be 1/2/2013 tomorrow. Perhaps this is that Y2K bug, just 10 years too late? We'll see if we can get it fixed on Monday and find out what the real date is.

Sigh. Our distributor has long been setting the date for products with unknown street dates as 12/12/12, and when we grab the info from them, we filter that date out. But it looks like they've changed their dummy data—this one was set as 12/31/12 when last we checked...

Silver Crusade

Well, if it helps I can definitely be put down for a set. Here is hoping it comes out sooner than three or four adventure paths from now.
I know they had that fire and that really sucks to hear a good company take a hit like that.
All in all, Legacy of Fire is awesome and I am looking forward to the dice.

Do want!

Any more word on these? There also seems to be no announcement for CoT or Kingmaker dice either. :-(

I never understood why they just can't say "unknown" instead of making up a date

Most likely because they have to put something in the database and 'Unknown' just will not fit in the little holes the need to punch in the card.

But that is the obvious answer, isn't it? ;-)

No word on a delivery schedule, but they are working on them.

I am going to guess 12/21/2012.

Q-Workshop is saying this set will be available in 4-6 weeks.

If I preorder, the dice will probably arrive just as my group finishes the Legacy of Fire AP. The same thing happened to me with the Curse of the Crimson Throne dice. I wish there was a way to speed up production on these great dice sets.

Could be worse, they might go with February 29, Two thousand and 2k+1 for integer k.

Any news on this item? Its been preordered so long Blizzard games is looking timely.

Update....

Unfortunately I have no update to give. I've sent several emails to our friends at Qworkshop and still haven't heard back. With any luck they will be at Gencon and I'll try to get some details from them then.

Eagerly waiting to hear what you smack out of them at GenCon (I recommend using a sand-filled rubber chicken for the humiliation factor). Got the first three sets, and love them.

I've my 10 dice RotRL and SD sets, but they've gone wandering somewhere in the Hermitage. Red and yellow don't go well with my eyes though.

Liberty's Edge

Well they have something up on the rack at Gencon that "looks" like the Legacy of fire dice.

But no official Pazio card stock on the back of it so might be a quick fill in.

Yeah i am with some of the others. I am hoping as things go along they start coming out faster. It would be great if they got caught up and actually came out when the first AP did.

Q-workshop did indeed bring a few sets of the Legacy of Fire dice, with generic (non-Pathfinder) backer cards, to Gen Con. They should be sending us a bunch as soon as the real packaging is ready.

I know these are still on preorder(was hoping they would ship this month, maybe next month). But any word on when the CoT dice set might see the light of day?

At GenCon, Q-Workshop said they hoped to have 2 more Pathfinder dice sets out by the end of the year.

But I wouldn't put money on it.

These dice are still in production and I'm not sure when they will be ready. I'll check back with Q-workshop to see if they have an update.

Interestingly, they are not yet sold on Q-Workshop's site, but they are available through their eBay account: Pathfinder Legacy of Fire Dice Set (shipping limited to Europe).

I guess this is some kind of weird limited pre-release before shipping the dice to distributors…

Liberty's Edge Contributor

Any word on the release date for these? They've been on preorder for a long time.

I just bought them on ebay. :)

Zaister wrote:

I got mine off ebay, too (sorry Paizo, I'm too impatient - you'll have to make do with the license fees you get thanks to me. And the killions of dollars I pay for all the PF books... ;-))

I had them for some time now, they're quite nice - but that's nothing new, Q-Workshop dice are usually quite nice.

Ok so after a good discussion with the Q-workshop guys, I feel better about where our dice are in production. The ebay auction will be taken down asap and they will be sending us the first wave of dice in a couple of weeks. My gut says that those will be available for shipping in January but we will start shipping them as soon as they arrive.

We do apologize for the inconsistent release schedule and we will work on fixing that in 2011.

Did the conversation include when we can expect subsequent Pathfinder dice sets to release?

Not with any specifics but I did see the first sample die for the Kingmaker set and it looked great. With my approval of the design, they are now moving forward with that set and will begin the Council of Thieves prototype soon.

Just fyi...back in March we both decided that accelerating the Kingmaker set for a Gencon 2010 release and postponing the Council of Thieves set was a good idea. Now we are locked into that order even though they weren't able to hit the Gencon 2010 release.

Sovereign Court

I can't help but imagine that Jeff is good at controlling his frustration and getting people in line.

Because I would find it hard to politely say: "How come you're selling our dice on ebay but haven't given us any to sell."

Especially after finding out that they have essentially tempted loyal, regular customers away.

I have a set of these dice, if anybody wants them. (First come, first serve, n' all that - I was looking to burn my GenCon volunteer credit. Also a set of Second Darkness and Curse of the Crimson Throne dice available.)

Good to know Kingmaker dice are in the production process. I just wish there was a way to speed up the process so the dice set for an AP was available soon after the sixth module for an AP was published. I've run my group through 3 APs so far (Runelords, Crimson Throne, Legacy of Fire) and each time gotten the appropriate dice after completing the AP. I'm currently running Kingmaker expecting to finish in July and expecting the dice set to first be available at Gen Con.

Kingmaker is the more popular AP, so it's still a great choice. If possible, it would be better to get started on Serpent's Skull and Carrion Crown before going back to Council of Thieves.

Personally my hope is that eventually they can get ahead so that the set of dice comes out the same month the first book of the AP does. Regardless I will end up buying them all of course.

If no-one else has gotten in before me - drop me an e-mail (address is in my profile) with information on how much you want for them.

Liberty's Edge

I will be getting each set of dice per AP as well when they come out eventually.

No other reason for completeness.....its a bad sickness!!! But it is a fun sickness! :O)

I have yet to play/GM an Adventure Path but own them all. Pathfiner Society is where I am at and only 5 different scenarios their.

Wonder how many people are in the same boat as me. Recognize the quality work so dove in but have not been able to play alot.

Of course part of it could of been due to school and my little future gamer.

Just checking again if there is any new word about these. :)

Unfortunately I have no new news to report. I'm still sticking to my gut which is telling that these should be shipping out sometime in January (probably late January).

Wow. I can't believe this set still isn't on sale yet. They were at Gen Con. How can they still not be available at retail 5 months later?

Q-Workshop creates some beautiful dice, but why does it take them so long to design and produce them?

The Exchange

I take it these are STILL not available? :(

Joseph Caubo wrote:

Not yet, but the new lower price makes it a bit easier to wait.

UPDATE!

I have spoken to Q-workshop and they have told me that the Legacy of Fire dice *should* be shipping out to the USA this week. I'm expecting them in the office around the end of the month or early March.

They have also said that the Kingmaker dice *should* be ready to ship in the next few weeks as well. My gut tells me that those should be arriving in April sometime.

Liberty's Edge

Sweet!

Taking...too...long...must...have. Thanks for the update Jeff. Look forward to rolling this particular set of bones.

YEA! Finally, now they can ship out with my next shipment and I can have them.

So any word on Kingmaker or the Serpent Skull set? WOn't bother asking about Carrion Crawl yet. :)
