Tarek approaches the room after his size returns to its normal state. Peering inside he spies a seat to his right.

Greetings Zamir! I wish we could have met under different circumstances, but your guards would not listen to reason. I do hope you are a man who can be reasoned with? Tarek glances about the room . What a magnificient beast! You will have to share the story about how you became the master of such a fine animal, once our meeting has ended. You have some very fine furnishings. I did not expect such splendors in the ruins of a monastery. I assume the Consortium has been paying you well for your services?

Tarek watches as Zamir casually handles the scepter
Oh, no need to bother yourself with looking over the scepter, it is worthless. We needed to speak with you and tracking the stolen scepter was the best way. I know it may have been a bit over dramatic but you are a hard man to find and it seemed the best way. Now that we found you, I hope the gods have blessed you with wisdom, as much as wealth, and hear what we have to say. We came to offer you a deal. One that will put quite a bit of gold in your coffers and still have the people of Jalmeray singing your praises.

Forgive me, where are my manners. Perhaps it is best if we introduce ourselves first?

Tarek takes a pause as he glances at his companions and then gives a slight bow as he speaks

I am Tarek Delrin and these are my companions. We represent the Pathfinder Society and come with invitation to join our cause. The Society has influence in every corner of the world. Our allies can become your allies, our contacts can become your contacts and you can benefit from the protections of the Society. It really is a simple matter. Cut your ties with the Consortium and only deal with the Society. I think it is a most excellent deal. What do you say Zamir? You could move out of the basement of a ruined building and find a nice place by the sea to conduct your affairs. What will it be? Friend and ally of the society or....something else?

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14

well it looks like it is going to be a fight after that roll

Paizo campaigns often have several options for completing an objective. I don't think they would have created a task that would require disable device or magic as the only options to get past an obstacle. Not every party will have either of those two classes represented. I think we can achieve our goal with the classes and skills available.

My thought was to ignite a few smoke arrows below deck and remain hidden. The captain may come below deck to check on the items in the locked room. We could attempt to knock him out, take what we need and escape under the confusion of the smoke.

This is just a thought of how we could gain access to the items we need without anyone knowing what we are doing.

If that idea doesn't work then The Air Eidolon could just rip off the captain's pants and float them down the steps.

No worries here. Just make it up to us with bad d20 rolls on the next scenario.

This is too funny. The bubbly and cheerful Auryn has turned into the a$$ kicker of the party. Come on gents, join me in picking up heavy things to win back our masculinity....oomph! My back! :-)

The mystery has been solved!!!!
Cyclone is the one who has been sucking up all the good rolls and conveniently dispensing them at it's leisure. Please send some my way!

Tsukai nods in agreement Let us leave place of death and find Gnome.

Tsukai wonders if the person, they are off to see, is a Wizard. He smiles to himself as he thinks...there's no place like Gnome

No offense taken on my part. I enjoy seeing diverse personalities. It would not make sense for everyone to be joining arms and skipping down to the local tavern while singing merry tunes. Although some shenanigans usually take place after a visit to a tavern, having a little tension between characters is far more realistic. Looking forward to reading more posts

I really think it depends on how the scenario is taking place. The rules should not be so black and white if a player can give a convincing argument.

Let's say two men are talking and one is standing behind a wall and it comes up to his shoulders. The man behind the wall is partially concealed and observed by the other man.

Now let's say the man behind the wall ducks below the wall while having a conversation. In that instant he becomes totally concealed. Now if he does not speak, he could attempt to use stealth without a bluff check.

During that time the man who just ducked can try to sneak along the base of the wall and move to a new location. Until the other man actually looks over the wall, he won't know where the hidden man is. He will just assume he is crouching in the same spot.

Maybe the other man is confused by the man who ducked behind the wall. He waits a few moments and calls the other man's name. When there is no response he decides to peek over the wall. If the hidden man made successful stealth attempts and there were other places for him to hide, when the other man looks over the wall he may not be able to find him.

I think logic is the key factor in what should be allowed. If the wall was ankle high then the 5% concealment would not be enough and a bluff check needs to be made.
