Background and motivation:
One-eye grew up in a mountain tribe, son of the village shaman. He was plagued by visions of the dying world from a young age. Upon coming of age he gathered a small warband of his closest friends and set out to deliver vengeance on the civilisation that had destroyed everything natural and good. His first target was the city of Urik which was rumoured to be ruled by a sorcerous abomination. How could any city resist the might of five vision-blessed Goliath warriors?

Laugh at youthful naivety and presumption if you must. Quickly captured, and sent to the Obsidian Mines, the following months stripped Monoc of laughter and innocence both. His companions died one by one, each marked by a self-inflicted scar across his chest. His arms and shoulders bear a tracery of stitched and puckered scars gained from the agonizing work of mining razor sharp stone.

Monoc bided his time in the mines, sustained by visions of a dying world that one day he would save. Eventually he won his freedom. He does not speak of how, or of how he lost his eye, save to say that it was a worthwhile sacrifice. Now he recovers his strength, and seeks new powers, new allies. One day he will rise again and the cities of Athas will burn and the dying world will be reborn. The road may be longer than that youth from the mountains could have believed, but one day the cities will burn.

Appearance:
Monoc One-eye is close to 8 feet tall and muscled in proportion. His arms and shoulders bear a tracery of stitched and puckered scars, and one eye stares milky-white and unseeing from a ruin of flesh. He wears hide armour under pale desert garb. He carries a long-handled wooden pick, with a razor sharp obsidian cutting blade lashed to the business end. A short wooden stabbing blade sits at his waist.
