16 HP remaining. Stones endurance until end of Monoc's turn. Monoc grunts as the blade pierces his hide, but snarls and steps forward anyway. He strikes at the foe in front of him, feeling revitalised by the combat... Resurgent strike (AC): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16; damage 2d12 + 6 ⇒ (8, 4) + 6 = 18. Monoc gains 3 temp hit points.

So Ojal and Lemris next. Not sure where the silt runner comes in initiative. Maybe it will just faint with fear at Monoc's sudden appearance. In fact, intimidate might have been a better option than my complete failure of a plan.

Monoc stares at the silt runner for endless seconds, brain churning. With a low snarl the huge barbarian hurls himself forwards, hands outstretched to stop the silt runner from fleeing. Run action to move to Q6 (grant combat advantage until next turn). Use action point to grab the runner. Strength vs Ref: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9.

Hi guys - just got back from a weekend snowboarding. Was awesome but the lodge, unexpectedly, didn't have wifi. What decade is this, anyway? Monoc's blood is up and after Shamash smashes the last drake to the floor, the half-giant leaps the corpse and charges up the stairs. Fresh blood, fresh kill! The kreen's sensible advice comes, too late. He stops at he top of the stairs and surveys the scene, ready to call on the legendary toughness of his people if the silt people are ready with an ambush. Move to top of the stairs. Ready action to use Stone's Endurance (You gain resist 5 to all damage until the end of your next turn) if any of the creatures at the top of the stairs are in position to attack.

Monoc strides forward beside Shamash, to deliver his own howling blow against the bloodied drake. Move to W15. Howl of Fury: (Primal, Thunder, Weapon) One creature. +6 vs. AC. 1d12 + 6 damage. You then howl in a blast 3 that includes the target. Each enemy in the blast, other than the target, takes thunder damage equal to your Constitution modifier (+3).
EDIT: Crit, and weapon property: High crit - a critical hit deals maximum damage plus an extra 1d12. SO that's 12 + 6 + 1d12 ⇒ 12 + 6 + (6) = 24 damage to D2, and 3 damage to D1. If D2 is reduced to 0 HP then use Roar of Triumph: (Fear, Primal) Close burst 5. Trigger - your attack reduces an enemy to 0 hit points. Effect - each enemy in burst takes a -2 penalty to all defenses until the end of your next turn.

"I will follow your lead out of this place, friend Shamash. These stone pictures disturb me." Monoc is not comfortable with the sight of men fighting the primal forces of the world. It seems like some twisted dream quest from the shaman of his mountain tribe - a nightmare inversion of how the world should be.

Hi guys, do we need to have a quick OOC conversation about where we're going? If I'm right we currently have two options? We can either go deeper into the tomb complex and see what ancient treasures and perils we find. Or we can head back to the surface and look for the main camp of the stilt-runners. Recalling our first fight with the stilt-runners, I'm not sure we can actually take a whole camp of them just yet. Equally, in a sandbox style game I don't know how well we'll fare in ancient tombs, at least without being very very careful. So, what are we going to do?
Male Goliath Barbarian 1
Monoc steps up into the light in response to Shamash's call to action. Looking round he decides that the creature in the corner of the room represents the greatest threat to Lemris and Ojal. "A mistake, stone-eater. You will not harm them" He charges the lone enemy as flickers of thunder play around his obsidian war-pick. mechanics: Shift to I10. Move to K9. Encounter power Mark of Thunder: (Primal, Thunder, Weapon) One creature. +6 vs. AC. 1d12 +6 thunder damage. You mark the target until the end of your next turn. Until the mark ends, if the target makes an attack that does not include you, it takes 5 thunder damage. Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22; damage 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17.

"We can set a strong guard here, and need rest. Maybe door opens at sunrise, or if we light fire, or if we hit it with axe." Monoc stares at the dor in consideration. I don't fancy another fight without a decent rest. And surely a door in a cave must have treasure behind it! Otherwise what's the point?!?

Posting early, hopefully won't overlap with Lemris. If Lemris kills the adult I'll use the same roles charging the remaining young Kruthic. Monoc nods in recognition to Shamash, but does not shift his position. He simply grits his teeth and growls in anger at the adult Kruthic, then attacks. Resurgent Strike: (Primal, Weapon) One creature. +6 vs AC. You either gain 3 + your Constitution (+3) modifier temporary hit points or end one dazing or weakening effect on yourself. The target then takes 2d12 +6 damage. 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 192d12 + 6 ⇒ (2, 10) + 6 = 18 Monoc has 13 HP + 6THP. Bloodied.

So far have spent a few days in the Cotswalds, and now up in East Yorkshire with old university friends for a weekend. Quite strange now that people are starting to have kids! Monoc advances and strikes the insect menace, giving voice to a howl of pain and rage. Move to C6, attack with Howl of Fury: (Primal, Thunder, Weapon) One creature. +6 vs. AC. 1d12 + 6 damage. You then howl in a blast 3 that includes the target. Each enemy in the blast, other than the target, takes thunder damage equal to your Constitution modifier (+3). Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23, damage 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8. Blast is centered on D7, might take out any nearby hidden minions.
Male Goliath Barbarian 1
If it is still alive on his turn, Monoc will charge the bug at E5. Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 vs AC, damage 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13. If the target is already dead, redirect to any other target in charge range. If no targets are in range, hold an action to attack first target that appears. Heads up that I'm about to get on a 27 hour flight from New Zealand to the UK. So no posts from me for a while. After that I'll be on vacation in the UK for 4weeks. Will be able to post most days, but may miss a couple. Happy for anyone to step in as required to keep momentum.

Oops sorry Fabes, forgot the save. Last turn: 1d20 ⇒ 7. Looks like Monoc didn't get up last turn - not sure if he can use his second wind while immobilised? This turn save: 1d20 ⇒ 11. Hmm, now I wish there was an online rule book for 4e - what's the magic number again? If that's a succesful save Monoc will move to M10 to get some cover and get close enough to do some damage next turn.

Monoc comes round as the healing coolness from Taanak's power wash over him. He takes a moment to steady himself and assess the battle before the rage overcomes him again. Healing surge spent from Taanak's Healing Spirit (+7HP). Move action to stand up. Standard action Second Wind (+7HP, +2 all defenses until somnt). Minor action to burn the Spirit of the Healing Flood (+10HP, don't see this fight lasting another 5 rounds). Back to 21HP. |
