Male Half-Orc Oracle 1

Just wanting to apologize for my absence. I am withdrawing from all my Campaigns due to a personal issue that has kept me from posting 'till now, and probably will for a while.

Thanks to everyone for the time I did have with ya'll, and good luck! To the DM, thanks for keeping my spot open so long. I appreciate it.

Wow. Some really good ideas, guys, thanks!

To answer a couple questions, *yes* this is the end of the campaign and *yes* they will be killing the Deity.

WhipShire, thanks for the idea! Not sure if I want to base her on a Demon, but it's something to reference to if I get too lost.

Tels, love your ideas on the plane and her having so much invested in it that she's mortal. Could have that tie in with the Artifacts somehow, such as they deny her drawing upon those powers once the fight is on. Or something to that effect. (unlike the buffs granted them, the players still don't quite know what the artifacts do yet, so I have a little play room)

Chobe, I have considered using an Avitar. However, the PC's have expressed interest in killing this evil, evil Deity, so I've decided to allow it. (that, and I really like the idea of the campaign ending on this note)

Sissyl, I really like that idea. I'll have to incorporate something like that, and tie it in with Tels' idea.

Mogart, Cthulhu FTW. I'll have a look-see through there, and see if anything catches my eye.

Robert, awesome. That's exactly what I was looking for, and thanks for the easy-reference stats. Not too sure about the Villain Points, though. We don't play with the heroic points, but I'll see. She *is* a Lich Goddess, so defeating her twice was in the plans. This may be the perfect mechanic for that.

Once I have some more things solidified a bit more, I'll put the info up on here for the ones who have requested it.

Thanks again for the suggestions! They're all helping the picture come together.

Silver Crusade

This is true. Thanks for the idea.

Silver Crusade

@ Mirrel - Yes, I'm aware of that. However, I'd like to stay away from having a CR 60. Kind of defeats the purpose.

@ Mogart - Killing her is the point. The stats 'n such are what I'm looking for help on. What CR should the encounter be? How do I balance the CR's of all these "parts" of her while still creating a realistic challenge?

Silver Crusade

I've already figured out how to have her "dummied down" so that she can be beat. (enter homebrewed artifacts and buffs that the party's been searching for and collecting since day one) I just was looking more for the actual creation of the Deity.

I have a loose idea as to what I'd like: Lich Oracle, riding a dragon, with four other monsters to round out her party. Not 100% sure how to balance this, though. The characters are a bit OP with said artifacts and buffs, so I don't think that a CR 20+ will be an issue. I want her to be the "most powerful", with her mount second, and the other four basically as fodder/irritation for the PC's to deal with. However, the creation and balance of the party is what I'm having trouble with.

The theme that I've been using for her is as follows: Chaotic Evil, having sided with all the other Chaotic Deities to combine the planes so as to create the ultimate chaos. These mergings have been represented by domes (yes, almost like Reboot's games) where the PC's have to fight monsters/solve puzzles/etc to "defeat" the dome, and nullify that foothold. They've destroyed nearly all the crossover points, and they're now heading towards the final area where they'll put this Deity in her place, so to speak.

I'm not too worried about the actual rules of how Deities fight, or how they're not able to be destroyed, yada yada. The twist to counter the "basic ruels" is, *if* they beat her, one of them will have to take her place. Kinda sounds weak stated like this, but within the context of the story line and how the PC's are, it makes sense.

*edit*

Tilnar, your idea of "tearing the deity apart" actually quite fits with what I was thinking of. Awesome explanation. And sorry, I should have included a bit more information in the OP.

Silver Crusade

So, my group is reaching the final stretch of the campaign in the next couple months. They're just about level 20, and will be by the end. They've been going up against the minions of a crazy, home-brewed Deity since the beginning, and what I would like is for them to go up against her for the final battle. However, I have no idea how to create a respectably powerful Deity, and yet still be beatable for level 20 characters.

This Deity is Chaotic Evil, and I think I may have her be a necromancer? Maybe? If I do go that route, I'm thinking of making an Oracle. However, is there a monster in one of the MM's that would fit the roll nicely, and then throw on top a few levels of Oracle to make it the proper level? I'm at a loss.

The party composition is a Negative Cleric, a Witch, a Fighter and a Rogue/Shadowdancer. I'm still a bit shaky as to where this "final battle" will take place, as well, so any suggestions on that would be greatly appreciated.

If I've forgotten to add anything, just ask and I'll provide the info.

Sorry, guys. I've been busy with IRL crap...thought I posted it earlier. Anyway, I'm back. If it's ok, DM, I shall use my third round action to heal up Warren as he's quite injured. If you'd prefer it, I can have it as my fourth round action and say I held my third. Kinda lost as to what's goin' on in regards to rounds.

STATS:

round 3, 11/11HP, Bless, Naturalist Performance, C. Energy 1/4

At the sound of Warren's plea, Zavac yells out a cry as he runs forward. "By the Dawn's Fire, wounds from the unholy be cleansed!"

As those words end, a blinding flash of light erupts from Zavac; a circle of fire flows forth in all directions, covering the area in an orange light, soothing those with wounds, leaving those without untouched.

actions:

Move 15 feet, T40 to W40
Casts Channel Energy (it should reach both Warren and the Dog)

Healing 1d6 ⇒ 1

....well. that was a bit lack-luster. At least it looked cool! I'll throw another heal your way, Warren, next round.

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Orc Oracle 1

Zavac is the last to read the letter. After reading it, and hearing the banter between the others, he smiles grimly to himself. Yes, let us go do Sarenrae's bidding.

Checks:
To see how much Zavac knows of Sarenrae's influence over the area, and if he knows where the temple is.
K. Local 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
K. Religion 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

"Sarenrae's temples are a place I know well. I have yet to see the one here, so this should be an interesting visit."

He gathers his flail from the ground beside him, straps it onto his back, slings his crossbow at his side, and follows the others. There certainly is no love lost between Her and this lot. Let's see what happens when they find out of my circumstance.

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Orc Oracle 1

Stats:
Round 2, 11/11 HP, 17 AC, Bless, Inspire Courage

After the first brute is taken care of, Zavac will take a few steps forward, standing afore the two archers. "You're welcome, Aliana," he says back to her. "I shall protect you all. No wargs will get past me."

Actions:

Move 15ft to W42
Readies a standard action for Flail-to-Face (lol)

Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Damage 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
CRIT!
Crit Confirmation 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Crit Damage 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Orc Oracle 1

Zavac's turn for round one is as follows. I may be a bit absent over the next couple days...some RL drama happening. Shall do my best to keep up with posting. Just a heads up.

Stats:
Round 1, 11/11 HP, 17AC, Bless Effect, Inspire Courage Effect

Zavac, following Warren's lead, feels the need to hit the Worg. Hard. Moving up and to the left, he clutches the heavy flail with both hands. Upon reaching the area, he lets out a sharp cry, bringing the massive metal ball in a full-swing, aiming down upon the creature's head.

Actions:

10ft movement (R42 to T41)
Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Damage 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Orc Oracle 1

Warren, usually the pets/familiars/companion/etc act on your turn, so I don't think there's a need to post their init separate. :)

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Orc Oracle 1

This is what Zavac will do once his initiative come up, if init is needed or applied as of yet.

Upon hearing Aliana's shout, feeling an arrow buzz past his ear, and watching plants suddenly spring to life, Zavac finally notices the Worg just before him. He takes a few steps back, transferring his flail to his left hand. With his right hand extended upward, he sends a quick plea to his Goddess.

"Sarenrae, full us with your fury!"

Upon those words, a faint red glow of fire appears a few inches above his head. A mere second later, a matching one was above each of his companions', as well. As the fires appeared, they were each filled with a burning courage, despite the rains and the cruel foe they now faced.

Actions:

Init 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
15-foot movement, T40 to R42
Transfers Flail to left hand, leaving right free to...
Cast Bless on the party (+1 to attack rolls; +1 to saves vs. fear; 1 minute duration) Bless should hit everyone, as it's a 50ft burst.
AC: 18 (if you allow the use of the Buckler right now, 17 if not)

Silver Crusade

I'm withdrawing my previous offer. I shall simply bow out of the caster roll. If need be, Brill is still available...just don't have the time to go through and make *another* character. Homework prevails this round! *shakes fist*

Also, as a DM, IMHO, a balanced party is a happy party. AKA, whatever everyone wants to play, instead of forcing people into rolls. Why minmax? /end2cp

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Orc Oracle 1

Zavac heads south in a swift gait, opting to follow the trail as he is less sneaky than the others, and would rather play the decoy. Eyes trained more often than not on the looming pile of rocks that the path appears to move past, a soft glow emanates from his hand, quickly covers his body, rapidly dissipating. Sarenrae, grant me eyes of hawks.

Actions:
Move at double speed, keeping a bit ahead of the others.
Casts Guidance on himself (+1 Perception)
Perception:
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19

I agree...adrenaline helps! Well, it could be Sarenrae...

Silver Crusade

It was more of a question directed towards the ones accepted thus far. :)

Silver Crusade

Aww, my poor Inquisitor. Ah, well...don't have time to throw together a caster (although a Heaven Oracle would be great to play).

Have fun guys!

EDIT: if there hasn't been a post up by the time I'm done classes this evening, I shall submit a Sorcerer-type. Would you prefer it be buff, blaster, or control?

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Orc Oracle 1

That placement works for me.

After the arrangements with the two men, Zavac notes the arrival of Aliana and Stephanus. As much as I agree with you, Stephanus, it appears we're headed towards them now. Warren has suggested that we go in about 30 feet apart. Since you two appear to be more advantageous at range. Why not stick close behind myself, one to a side?"

As a final reminder before they leave, he adds, "Once there's trouble, call. I will protect us as best I can." Winking towards the half-elf and bard, "And don't mind the fire."

Perception:
1d20 ⇒ 11 same as Kams ^.^

Zavac places the ring, gold, and what's left of the note into his belt pouch, nodding at Kams' notion. "A good idea, I shall take charge of that."

--

"I'll stand in the middle of you two whilst we venture out. That way, I'm an equal distance to aid either of you."

Considering the time we've spent moving the bodies and talking about how to mount this search, would Aliana have arrived back by now?

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Orc Oracle 1

Zavac nods at Kams' comment. "That they do. Not much else to do about it, it seems." After a few moments of consideration, "I've no idea as to why they'd take only one. It seems like a path for us to follow, rather than simply a private meal." His face takes on a slight grimness, as if the words he spoke made him ill.

Once the bodies were in place, he shots a quick prayer for them, "Sarenrae. Bathe these souls in your fire. Judge them by the light of the Sun. Heal those left to bear witness."

At Warren's signal, he nods at the request as acknowledgment, readying his flail. Catching each of their eyes, he states, "If they happen to attack, call out to me. I'll be of help." Then adding, almost as an afterthought, "Don't be alarmed by the fires."

Silver Crusade

Personally, I'd like to put my vote up to avoid rape and molestation within the campaign. Everything else is alright in my books, though.

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Orc Oracle 1

After rushing towards the scene, Zavac is disheartened to find that the men are now in Sarenrae's hands. A single tear falls, mixing with the rain already dribbling down his face. He did notice an insignia, and although he's not from the area...

K. Local:
1d20 ⇒ 7

...he still has no idea as to what it may mean. Noting what Kams says of the Wargs, a shiver racks his spine. And not from the cold, wet rain. "There's a patch on the men, here. Maybe someone knows from whence they came, or who they work for? I don't recognize it."

--

"I'll help you with that, Master Kams," thinking that he might as well do the best he can for the men. As he does so, he searches the bodies and immediate area for anything useful, anything the settlers or even the charter-bearers could use.

Perception:
1d20 ⇒ 11

Silver Crusade

I guess I could use Zavac for this...I shall tailor him up, create him as an "official" PFS character. Shall be done later today.

Silver Crusade

EDIT: (because I can't do my last post, stupid 1hr limit) After creeping your Kingmaker thread, I'm very interested in signing up for your group, DM Barcas. Love your style, and it fits in with mine. Consider a character up when you get the recruitment thread up. I'll need to make a character for PFS, but I'm already registered. Shall work on a character once you're ready.

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Orc Oracle 1

Once his eyes had been placed upon the scene, Zavac's face becomes grim, his jaw set. "Thank you for telling me, Warren," his eyes watering over. If only I could add another to the collection...this doesn't look good. "This is what I'm here for."

He rushes forward, headstrong and intent on his personal agenda, scanning the area for signs of whatever attacked the campsite as he goes.

Perception:
1d20 ⇒ 9

If there is nothing to see, Zavac will continue on to the bodies, check if they're alive. He will set up healing as needed, *if* needed, with rolls in my next post.

Silver Crusade

I'm still interested in playing either game, so I'll keep an eye on the boards to see what comes up.

Silver Crusade

Thus far, it looks like we're full. Twigs would have to make the official call, though I'm sure if one of us drops, he'd letcha in. He also stated that it is Core only, so Magus and Gunslinger are not viable classes.

Thanks for the interest, though.

BACKGROUND:

Brill is a typical Dwarven Inquisitor: ruthless, cunning, and impersonal. She began her life as a daughter of a politician, with a pleasant childhood. However, she never had a taste for her father's profession, instead leaning towards a more martial tendency. She trained under her father's guards, learning the ways of the sword and shield, and became quite adept. She also spent time in the library, teaching herself in various areas of interest. When she was a young woman, looking into becoming a guard herself, her father was assassinated due to a nasty political complication. After that day, she decided that the Dwarven politics had become too bloody, and vowed to use her cunning and martial prowess to change that.

And so, a new Inquisitor was born. Putting her life in the unknown forces above, she was filled with holy rage to smite upon those who defy the law. Having worked her way up the ladder by exposing numerous Dwarven spies, assassins and two-faced politicians, she was recently sent to the Commonwealth Ranger Service. There, she has not only worked towards the goals outlined by her superiors, but also has kept an eye on said leaders, as well.

No one is above suspicion.

PERSONALITY/APPEARANCE:

Brill was once a happy girl, but in her hardships leading to womanhood, she has become ruthless. She will give anyone the benefit of the doubt, but once there is a reason to use force, she will gladly do so. In her youth, she studied nature, religion, and arcana, among other things, and as such hold each upon an even plane. She holds no ill-will to the newly emerged children of magic, any more than she does the respected scientists, or religious fanatics. Her goal is simply to maintain order, in any way possible.

Physically, she resembles a typical Dwarf. Short, mousy brown hair, deep brown eyes, and chestnut skin, along with her short, stout 5' frame, are a dead giveaway of her ancestry. She proudly dons her scale mail over simple Traveller’s garb, longsword at her side and spiked shield at her back. She carries her varied belongings and inquisitorial items in a magical pack, making it easy for her to get around.

This is the best way to minimize divine-power overkill. Limit the number of classes to one of each class in the party. I usually do this, anyway, so that everyone feels like their contributing, and not fighting over loot, etc etc.

Anyway, I agree with the majority here. Have the undead get bonuses. I particularly liked the idea of unholy ground. Buffs for the undead, debuffs for "good" characters would work...it'll keep the balance a bit more, but still give the pallys and clerics (and even life oracles) a sense of their "DIE EVIL SCUM!" powers still being effective.

That, or just throw in more undead per encounter, with higher HP. And have the hard-hitting undead specifically target the divine casters once they see that they're the ones quickly destroying the smaller undead.

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Orc Oracle 1

Zavac was slightly taken aback by Warren's comment.

"I...of course." Curious as to why the wild man would make the statement, he continues, "But why would it be taken any other way? If you felt the need to say it, there must be some reason for it."

Silver Crusade

From the three Mysteries in the OP, and from what little I've read into them, I'd go for Heavens, with Spell Focus: Illusion. Take the Wizard route, and do some CC.

Not much help, but that's about it that I can see.

Silver Crusade

Here she is! If there's anything you want changed, lemme know. I shall have her personality/background/appearance up later on. I chose to go with a Goddess who had the Good Domain (Iomedae), and went with her weapon for the proficiency. Hope that's ok. Also, Gaia name is Agent_Yang

Silver Crusade

o.O

ManyAsOne, can you just start a PbP so I can play and get my RP fix? I find it overly difficult to find people who want to RP as opposed to min/maxing their way to the final boss.

In that light, I second the congrats on your group.

Silver Crusade

Done, and done. Character sheet is almost complete...just need to work out background, personality, and magical items.

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Orc Oracle 1

Zavac awakens immediately at Warren's voice. Completely unperturbed by the damp, cold morning, he dons his armor, gathers his things, and places the backpack back into it's spot in the Meyerson's wagon.

"Sounds like a plan, friend," in reply to Warren's suggestion. "First, allow me to help with our foraging."

Taking a breath, he places a hand on Warren. A soft glow appears, and begins to cover the wild man, only to disappear as if it were never there. He then does the same to himself. A slight tingle was left where his hand once was.

"Let's be off, then."

Casts Guidance on himself and Warren (+1 Survival Checks)
Survival 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

After the time allowed for foraging, Zavac takes up point with Warren.

Perception 1d20 ⇒ 4

YAY, RP exp. Added it to my character sheet...and wow, those are some bad rolls. Apparently Zavac is preoccupied. He IS more of an intimidating, magic-using knowledge monkey...

Silver Crusade

Just working on an Inquisitor for ya.

Question: What's your ruling on Magic Items? In my games, I usually go with either:
1. One item for every 3 levels, no price limit, excluding magical weapons/armor. (as in 1 for starting 1-3, 2 for starting 4-6, etc.)
2. Any number, none more than 1/2 of PC's wealth at creation, including magical weapons/armor.

Also, concerning Domains: since there's no clear Deities in the world, how would you like me to chose a domain? Just pick a Deity and go from there, or simply pick a domain?
