IF NOT, SHE WILL FALL LIKE ALL ORGANICS.

Do not, and I repeat, do NOT get Ready to Wear Echelon Fashion if you are seeking to upgrade to armor that is more customizable. there was a glitch in my database and it was presenting the measure of mobility afforded as how much modification it can stand. Ready-to-wear echelon fashion does not allow for armor modification. The swarmsuit however would still be a good upgrade in that respect, though the number is not as high as I initially stated.

DO YOU THINK THAT I, ZALIBRAXIS, DRAGONBOT, JUDGE YOU FOR YOUR FASHION ADVICE ACCURACY? I DO NOT.

The dragonbot reads the open forum letter and starts ranting a response, words appearing in all caps on the SRO's internal comm unit as he shouts them.

"OVERWATCH, YOU MAY BE CYBERBORN, BUT YOU ARE CERTAINLY NOT AMONG THE AUGMENTED, WHO UNDERSTAND THAT THE PATH IS A CONTINUAL JOURNEY TO APOTHEOSIS, A PERFECT FUSION OF NATURE, GENETIC ENGINEERING, AND UNYIELDING *METAL*. EACH ASPECT WORKS IN HARMONY WITH THE OTHERS. WHAT MAY SEEM AS A SMALL OR UNWORTHY BENEFIT IS A SMALL PART OF A GREATER WHOLE.

FOR EXAMPLE, IT IS KNOWN THAT HAVING DERMAL PLATING CAN ADD SLIGHTLY TO ONE'S RESISTANCE TO DAMAGE EVEN IF YOU ARE NATURALLY TOUGH ENOUGH TO SHRUG OFF ATTACKS. MY OWN SPONSOR IN THE STARFINDER SOCIETY, ONE ZOGULON GRAV, USES THIS TO INCREASE HIS ALREADY PRODIGIOUS DAMAGE RESISTANCE. IS IT WORTH THREE THOUSAND, TWENTY FIVE CREDITS? IT IS TO HIM, BECAUSE HE IS ALREADY SO RESISTANT THAT A DEFLECTIVE REINFORCEMENT WOULD NOT HELP HIM. CLANG."

At this point, Dragonbot, lost in his personal war of words, walks smack into a sign pole with a loud clang. He looks at the pole, holding up a sign designating the Botscrap neighborhood and frowns. The dragon gland, visable through a little window in his neck, crackles with electricity, and Zalibraxis vomits electricity on the signpost in his ire. The sign, being metal and grounded, is not affected.

"REGARDLESS," he continues, reactivating his dictation circuit, "I HAVE MYSELF EVOLVED FROM EVEN THE AUGMENTED. I HAVE LEARNED THE TRUTH, THAT THE ONLY ORGANIC WORTH MIMICING IS THE MOST POWERFUL: DRAGONS. SPECIFICALLY BLUE DRAGONS. I AM EVEN NOW ATTEMPTING TO ATTAIN LICENSING TO BUY GLORIOUS BLUE DRAGON SCALES, RESISTANT TO ELECTRICITY, AND OF A STRENGTH WORTHY OF MY GLORY.

ORGANIC, CYBERNETIC, NECROMANTIC, AND MAGICAL AUGMENTATIONS ARE ALL REQUIRED FOR ONE SUCH AS I TO ASCEND TO THE MIGHTIEST OF CREATURES. SOON YOU WILL ALL TREMBLE WHEN I TAKE TO THE SKIES AND WREAK MY TERRIBLE VENGENCE."

ADDENDUM:

"TO ABA CALLING: THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION. I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING WHAT PRODUCTS AND/OR SERVICES YOU, AND ABADARCORP, MAKE AVAILABLE. I DO NOT REQUIRE ANY APPLES," he then mutters "as I have not mastered eating yet," then continuing: "BUT THANK YOU FOR YOUR OFFER. WHEN THE TIME OF RETRIBUTION COMES, YOU WILL BE SPARED."

Zalibraxis, Dragonbot reads the missive (nevermind where he downloaded it from), and a thrumming noise, like a growl, emerges from the speakers built into his chest. He turns to the halfling waiting in the Bluerise lobby.

"THIS FLIMSY BIO-MECHANICAL FORGETS THAT ARMOR UPGRADES AND AUGMENTATIONS FULFILL DIFFERENT NEEDS. THOUGH I, A HUMBLE DRAGON ROBOT, CAN SEE IN THE DARK PERFECTLY ANYWAY, IF I COULD NOT, TRADING INFRARED SENSORS FOR DARKVISION CAPACITORS WOULD ALLOW ME TO FURTHER MODIFY MY ARMORED CARAPACE WITH POWERFUL ENHANCEMENTS."

The halfling shrugs and goes back to calibrating his sniper rifle as the SRO drones on, "YES, WHAT THEY CALL "ARMOR UPGRADES" ARE ACTUALLY JUST 'STRONG EXTERNAL UPGRADE SLOTS.' IF YOU CAN BUILD THE SAME CAPABILITY INTO YOUR INTERNAL CHASSIS FOR A GREATER PRICE, IT IS STILL WORTH IT SO YOU CAN INSTALL AN ELECTROSTATIC FIELD OR A SHOUT PROJECTOR INTO YOUR ARMOR.

SPEAKING OF WHICH, I HAVE WEAPONIZED PROSTHETICS... REALLY I'M 40% WEAPON AT THIS POINT... BUT ARE SHOCK PADS AND RETRACTABLE SPIKES NOT SUFFICIENT MELEE CAPABILITY?"

The halfling frowns and says, "I'm going to go report to Arvin. Take your time shouting at nobody in the lobby." He shoulders his sniper rifle and walks off.

Dragonbot's facial articulators bend in consternation. "I WILL DESTROY YOU!" he calls at the halfling as he is leaving. "...after I write a sternly worded letter to this 'Overwatch' squelch-bag," he mutters in conclusion.

The robot pauses for a moment, millions of thought-calculations processing in that time before he opens up a new sphere-mail.

I, DRAGONBOT, HAVE NO CONCERN FOR THE HUMANS. THEY ENJOY CONSIDERABLE DOMINANCE ON ABSOLOM STATION DUE TO THEIR AFFILIATION WITH THIS GOLARION PLACE THAT DISAPPEARED BEFORE ANYTHING IMPORTANT HAPPENED IN THE GALAXY. A HISTORICAL QUIRK LEADING TO TRAGEDY.

IF HUMANS FEEL SHAME FOR THEIR HISTORICAL MISTREATMENT OF ANDROIDS AND HIDE LIKE PREY ANIMALS IN THE FACE OF LEGITIMATE GRIEVANCES, THEN SO BE IT. MOST OF THEM WILL LIVE, FOR WHATEVER BRIEF PERIOD HUMANS GET IN THE UNIVERSE. IF THEY MAKE RESTITUTION TO SATE THE UNREST, SO MUCH THE BETTER.

ALSO, YOUR BODY MAY HAVE BEEN BUILT BY ANCIENT HUMANS, BUT YOU ARE YOUR OWN BEING AND THEY ARE NOT BETTER THAN YOU. MY BODY WAS BUILT AS A PROP IN TRIAXIAN MUSIC VIDEOS, BUT MY SOUL IS MY OWN, NO MATTER HOW MANY LAWSUITS THEY THROW AT ME.

Exo-Guardians 5/5

I, THE DRAGONBOT, DID FAIL MY SAVE FOR THAT TRAP. HOWEVER, ONLY INFERIOR ORGANICS NEED TO BREATHE.

I 100% would be happy with the ring giving level ×1 specialization bonus but still be archaic lethal damage.

I'm not trying to compete with a vesk or nuar...I'm trying to be a dragon-shaped robot with a breath weapon and a lethal bite attack. I can do the breath weapon with an available augmentation. Just need a little help with the bite.

Exo-Guardians 5/5

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I realized that it was broken immediately.

I also waited to use it until Joe Pasini made a thoughtful ruling on it that limited potential shenanigans.

The ring was the only way I could find at the time to get a lethal bite attack on a SRO soldier, so I reluctantly took the available option, devoting a feat and a gear boost to make it work.

If there was a "bite your face off" augmentation I'd be happy with that instead.

Exo-Guardians 5/5

So Thursty made a ruling in the GM forum that Nanite Corruption could be used with regular unarmed strikes.

So I guess, after all my investments, my unarmed strike "bite" does IUS dice + my level nonlethal Bludgeoning damage + Str + 2 Piercing damage (is that nanite damage lethal if the core attack isn't?)

I was doing IUS + 2xlevel + Str + 2 Lethal Piercing.

Sebastian Hirsch wrote:

So basically you would want something like a "ring of hard knocks" that allow your unarmed strike damage to deal lethal damage and not counts as archaic?

I still want it to count as Archaic, so A) i didn't waste Raw Lethality and B) it doesn't replace Natural Weapons for those that took a race with it.

I was dismayed when I read Thurston's announcement, but the "offer" to sell back my 315 credit item for full value just... stung.

My Ysoki Soldier was built around biting. He famously chewed through a scenario where technological weapons weren't allowed. His jokes were always tooth related. Without a Natural Weapon of his own he not only doesn't function, his whole concept ceases.

• Gloom Gunner Archetype
• Weapon Focus
• Raw Lethality Gear Boost
• Lack of other offensive gear
• Lunge and Cleave lose their hilarity
• Even Ysoki was specifically picked for this

He'll either need a rebuild or a shredder. And either way, I'm going to miss playing him =(

So you would prefer a rebuild option that allowed you to take the natural weapon alternate racial on page 28 of SCOM?

That wouldn't help those of us who don't have a Natural Weapon option.

Honestly, I don't care about the x2 damage. It could do levelx1.5 like a Natural Weapon and it would still be very good (frankly that would be better overall because it wouldn't invalidate natural weapons races). Heck, I would take it even if it was levelx1 damage like normal specialization but still be a lethal bite attack and it wouldn't ruin my build.

Nanites boon as well for Unarmed
...I'm not sure I follow what you are referring to here?

The Nanite Corruption RSP boon gives +2 damage to a natural weapon, which the ring counted as. There is also a downside to the corruption which costs fame and a feat to negate if you want to keep the bonus.

Now PCs (like me) are stuck potentially with a sizable penalty and no natural attack with which to get a bonus in.

Awesome timing on this ruling: Played for the first time at level 3 with Raw Lethality, Improved Unarmed Strike (not strictly speaking giving a bonus this level), and the Ring of Fangs.

I crit a space cuttlefish for 22 damage. The extra bleed damage wasn't necessary.

DRAGONBOT FEELS GOOD ABOUT THIS POWER LEVEL. NOT TOO STRONG; CORRECT INVESTMENT. THE ORGANICS MADE A POOR CHOICE IN OPPOSING HIM.

Apologies for my tardiness to this thread. :)

1) It can take up Promotional if you want, but not Vanity. Vanity is a boon-subtype that is applied like a minor tag to the other six types of boons.

2) Unarmed strikes work in this specific circumstance. This is a ruling specific to this boon and nothing else (don't use this to argue other things :P )

3) SRO or a construct creature casts a spell on you, you don't resist. This is a bit of GM discretion, but before anyone asks "no, someone in full armor is still considered organic." :P

4) It does and you still would lower your Resolve by 1.

MANY THANKS, THURSTON OF THE HILL CLAN. THE ORGANICS WILL REGRET THE DAY THAT THEIR ANCESTORS CRAWLED OUT OF THE PRIMORDIAL... ER, I WILL BE SURE TO ONLY USE THESE NANITES TO BENEFIT THE SOCIETY.

PLANS FOR THE DRAKE AND PEGASUS ARE WORTHLESS TO THOSE OF US WHO FLY OUR COLORS ABOVE THE GORGON TO STRIKE TERROR IN THE HEARTS OF... THE... WICKED. WE'LL GO WITH THE WICKED. ALL HAIL THE MURDERBOAT!

But seriously, the Gorgon is a society-legal ship, as is the Manticore and a couple of others off of chronicle sheets. Getting flip mats of these would be very helpful in case there is ever a scenario where the Starfinder ship gets boarded.

THE ARMORY IS QUITE CLEAR THAT ALL PC RACES CAN USE ALL ITEMS OF EQUIPMENT, WITHIN THE LIMITS OF THEIR SPECIFIC LISTED RULES. I, FOR EXAMPLE, HAVE A WYRMLING BLUE DRAGON GLAND, BECAUSE OF COURSE I DO. I AM DRAGONBOT!

SROs actually make very appropriate recipients of the Augmented archetype, and it would be very unfortunate if they couldn't use anything but cybernetics because of some unfortunate interpretation of the rules that said that robots can't use entire classes of gear.

At the very worst, if you are homebrewing the inability for SROs to use biotech, at least give them the opportunity to use the reverse of Adaptive Biochains to make biotech into cybernetics instead of the other way around.

Exo-Guardians

All I know is that I based Dragonbot's entire 3rd level on the least permissive, rules-as-written version of how the RoF works (feat is Improved Unarmed Strike, Gear Boost is Raw Lethality).

I'm set if they rule it textually.

If they rule it permissively and it isn't Archaic, I'll basically have wasted my Gear Boost (if it isn't Archaic I don't get the 1d8 Bleed crit). I guess I can hope for more archaic weapons in the future.

If they retroban the RoF, well I can still attack without a hand free (good since I'm packing heavy weapons), with scaling nonlethal damage dice, and with 1d8 nonlethal bleed crit.

I think the stronger argument is that as a consequence of being a bite attack it is non archaic. But I'm not going to break someone's character if they went the raw lethality route.

Thankfully, if Paizo breaks my character by changing or clarifying how Ring of Fangs works for Dragonbot here, I'm pretty sure SFS gives me a free respec of anything I used for that build.

I would be happy to re-allocate my Gear Boost to something actually useful for my heavy weapons build, instead of devoting all of my level 3 to my melee backup strategy.
