Knowing exactly where to strike can turn a battle. Thank the Dawnflower that Ranalus knows his ciphers. That creature seemed quite dangerous.

Wyran lags behind the others, ensuring everyone leaves quickly and safely. His enhanced movement speed helps him keep pace with the group even as he offers assistance.

"That sounds like the Juggernaut has a weak point, Ranalus" He shifts his grip on his bill. "Well done."

I'm at a local convention this weekend and probably won't post until Sunday.

If combat continues, Wyran continues to fight defensively and apply nonlethal damage. He prioritizes keeping the guards busy.

If they surrender, Wyran gifts the leader a simple copy of Sarenrae's holy text The Birth of Light and Truth and the stone with continual flame he created on the journey up the mountain.

"She's down a pit. Now what?"

Wyran surveys the bridge, "Must we wait for these to expire?"

Wyran continues his assault on the confused azer.

"You are in service to evil. Repent and we shall spare your life." He punctuates his words with a swift kick.

Everyone likes money. Wyran is indifferent to which tack to take.

Wyran doesn't notice Ansha's subtle incantations, but does recognize the tension in the air. He spends a ki point to cast barkskin on himself.

To Enora he says, "You cannot enlarge me, but I would appreciate a charge from your wand."

Wyran, taking the lead, moves to the foot of the bridge. "Watch your step, Pathfinders."

He peers through the smoke toward the other side of the chasm, hoping for a glimpse of what is beyond.

"I was born under the influence of a Lantern Archon." Wyran says, holding out his rock imbued with continual flame. "Ask one to speak to the Bulls of Heaven for Ansha. Kalankang and I can help them explain our situation."

The monk eyes the gnome, "The less time we spend near that helm the better. I am loathe to spend even one night in its presence."

Shaking his head, "What do we know of these creatures?"

Has everyone rolled Knowledge checks for the Bulls and their shrine?

From a rules perspective, I'd side with Ranalus. My awkward monk is not going to convey the subtleties of Ansha's persuasive charms. A scroll of tongues is invaluable for a Diplomacy character.

"If you do not speak the Celestial tongue, I can interpret your words." Wyran assents. "Do you know anything more about them?"

"Such beautiful creatures." Wyran says to himself.

Wyran bows his head to the guardian spirit. "Thank you, Old Man Mountain. We shall speak to these Bulls of Heaven."

He looks up at the kami to hear what will be done with the cursed helm.

"Is there no other way? The Dawnflower flies from the East to the West. Can the lava not follow her golden path?"

Wyran looks down the mountainside, "To the village and back is a long journey with no guarantee of success. The lives of these people must come first."

Wyran stands proudly before the kami, but looks down at the wayfinder in his hands before speaking, "Great guardian spirit, I have been to the Worldwound and fought against the demon horde. My team and the crusaders with us secured a weapon hidden in that rift and defeated a powerful shemhazian demon."

Wyran considers the half-elf's words for a moment, then nods. "Very well, Ranalus. Let us seek the wisdom of Old Man Mountain."

"Evil?" Wyran's face betrays disgust. "If it cannot be cleansed, it must be destroyed."

The aasimar retrieves his shining wayfinder from his pack and wills the needle to point to the nearest source of evil.

Wyran notices Anshas unusual gestures, but thinks nothing of them.

Wyran joins the others in prostrating himself to honor Ankilhi. Before he begins climbing, he chooses a stone from the ground and concentrates a moment. It alights with a heatless continual flame.

"May the Everflame guide us on our journey"

"The gate was dedicated to the hero Ankilhi. The dedication warns those seeking to proceed further that they must honor Ankilhi as they retrace her steps to visit with 'Old Man Mountain.' The guardian spirit expects us to complete this ritual."

Wyran looks up the stairs. "An arduous task, but a noble one."

"The prayer wheels were a brief history of Ankilhi’s deeds. I might be able to puzzle out the inscriptions."

Wyran readies himself for the journey and takes one last look at each of his party members. May the Everflame guide our path

Wyran nods and accepts some tea. "Kami are wise guardians. We must seek this Old Man Mountain and heed his advice."

Wyran ascends in silence, using his pole-arm as a walking stick and taking in the view. He nods politely at the half-elf's small talk.

Golden, pupil-less eyes look out over the landscape. His hand idly worries the amulet around his neck, a stylized version of the angelic ankh of Sarenrae.
