Female Human
Hello, I'm Ventiine! I've sent a message or two to Mark. I'm happy to GM but I don't know for how long. I've always intended to run Kingmaker but I've been very cautious. My original plan was to not post recruitment until I finished my final third book for Azlant. I considered picking this table up because I dislike excluding people in recruitment. So, I've been sitting on things I prepared over a year ago. I'll post a reduced Recruitment and Campaign Tab so you can read it over. (And if my style doesn't vibe with yours, no hard feelings.) Full disclosure, I have taken three breaks from the forums. One was as a player (Nidhi) and the other two were during Ruins of Azlant. But, I came back and on my OG, one and only, account. ༊*·˚ if you're still interested ೃ⁀➷ ☄. *. ⋆ About GM Ventiine’s Kingmaker ⋆.ೃ࿔*:・

About Me:
Experience. This is my second time GMing on the Paizo forums. My first game was Ruins of Azlant (Books 1-3) The purpose of GMing half of the Ruins of Azlant AP was to 1) see if I could do it, 2) get a feeling of what it takes to GM PbP Motivation. My motivation for this campaign is to experience the Kingmaker AP, make friends, and have fun with worldbuilding. Leshys likely to be included. Preparation. I created slides and other materials to digest the story. As we progress, I will pull from these Master Copies to blank shared documents. The blank shared documents will be linked at the top. Please note: these are not intended for sale or redistribution. These were made with love specifically for my table. When my table concludes, they will be deleted. (This goes for my Azlant game as well.) Kinship. I’m a pretty direct person, but I never have malicious intent. If I hurt your feelings please tell me. I don’t want you to have a bad day due to a silly misunderstanding. I expect everyone to come to the table with a teamwork-oriented outlook. Final Notes. 1. I appreciate people taking the time to put quotation marks and bold formatting around speech. I think it makes reading easier and more fluid. 2. Include links to other online discussions when asking me for a ruling. When in doubt, go for build options that have answers. I will already have a lot of bookkeeping. General Campaign Q&A:
➢ We are following the Kingmaker Pathfinder 1e Adventure Path books 1-6 story. ➢ This Adventure Path starts at level 1 and ends with the party leveling from 16 to 17. ➢ Pathfinder Kingmaker is a sandbox campaign. ➢ You will level up at story checkpoints. We may revisit this. ➢ CR will remain the same for 4-5 players. +1 to CR if 6. ➢ We will be using Pathfinder 1e Kingdom Building rules. ➢ We will be using Pathfinder 1e Mass Combat rules. ➢ You do not need to keep track of weight or rations unless you want to. ➢ Players may craft items or have a profession(s). See the Campaign Info tab for additional info. ➢ No Multiclassing. (Not my cup of tea.) ➢ No Prestige Classes. (I’m not familiar enough with it.) ➢ No Third-Party Sources. (Try to use aonprd.) ➢ No Elephant in the Room feat taxes. (Not my cup of tea.) ➢ No Tech Themes or Guns. This is a “traditional” fantasy game. ➢ No Summoners. ➢ Absolutely No Stealing for other player characters (unless agreed upon beforehand.) ➢ Absolutely No CCing other player characters (unless agreed upon beforehand.) ➢ Absolutely No Injuring other player characters (unless agreed upon beforehand.) ➢ I will be using Google Slides for combat maps so it’ll be easier if you have a computer. ➢ I don’t plan on intentionally missing any written combat encounters. (I think I’ve only missed 2 in my Azlant game.) ➢ I will adjust CR unless it is at or above party’s current. ➢ My goal is to post once or twice a day. This includes Discussion posts. ➢ Try to post once a day if you can. Discussion posts count. ➢ I require a minimum of two players in agreement to progress to another hex/room/place. ➢ Players will be responsible for managing loot. ➢ I love players who help out other players with rules questions, linking their sources. ➢ I like it when players hyperlink spells and such on their character sheet. ➢ I use prd/Nethy’s and Paizo’s books for rules clarification. ➢ I tend to avoid d20pfsrd because I have found discrepancies in the past. ➢ The party will be given a wand of cure light wounds with 50 charges at the start. ➢ Tweaks are absolutely fine until the submission deadline. ➢ I don’t want to kill your character, but monsters/certain NPCs do. ➢ I am only running one Kingmaker table with 5-6 players. ➢ I anticipate Kingmaker taking two to five years. ➢ If I make a mistake during combat, please tell me. Preferably with aonprd sources linked. ➢ If you read this far, you may have a third trait if you type owlbear on your recruitment post. ➢ When I post about a new area, I will post some, but not all, related skill rolls in spoilers. It’s the honor system. I don’t care if you look, but please don’t let it impact your character’s knowledge. ➢ I will try to pick players with varying levels of Pathfinder and PbP experience. ➢ If you are new to the forums, I recommend taking a look at Doomed Hero’s PbP Guide or some of Painlord’s guides. They articulate a lot of good points and I try to follow their tenants myself. ➢ I expect everyone to be respectful of one another. Sometimes tone is difficult to read in text, so over-communicate and use emojis when in doubt. Bookkeeping I Will Provide To Players:
✓ I will roll Initiative and Perception checks for combat to help keep a steady pace. ✓ I will spoiler most Skill rolls when a new area is revealed to help keep a steady pace. ✓ I will be including links to images on posts for a more immersive feel. ✓ I created six visual “storybooks” (one for each book) in Google Slides that I will unveil for immersion as we progress. ✓ I have a hex map of each book (that uses hexes) I will update with each new quest area. ✓ I have a comprehensive hex map of the Stolen Lands that I will keep updated. ✓ I will keep a running list of NPCs and links to first encounter posts. ✓ I will keep a running "Master Copy" tab of loot on the Loot sheet. ✓ I will roll checks for the Kingdom Turn Sequence and maintain the Kingdom Sheet. ✓ I will provide occasional recaps with links to previous recaps. My 7 Expectations Of Players:
① Players will try to post once a day unless on vacation/sick/hiatus. I understand life happens. ② Players will keep track of their current AC and HP. (In case I make a mistake.) ③ Players will keep track of personal gear, ammo, and spell durations. This includes bonuses to hit and damage rolls. ④ Players will move their icons on combat maps. ⑤ Players will be responsible for managing personal loot and communicating what loot they want. ⑥ Players will communicate how they want their kingdom to develop. ⑦ Players will communicate extended absences so we don’t worry about you! ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ If You Have Additional Time * ˚ ✦

Guinea Pig Kingdom Sheet:
If you are reading this, you have opted to try your hand at going through the steps of the very first Kingdom Turn Sequence and one Kingdom Turn Sequence after for a bonus 500 gold starting gold. You can make a copy of my simple Kingdom Sheet here, use a different sheet, or make your own typed outline. The green kingdom sheet I designed assumes the party picked a location with a castle already built. I already calculated the benefits of having the castle, but you will need to do everything else, including choosing to start with 1 fame or 1 infamy (a built castle gives you 1 fame.) I also listed some NPCs on the “Leadership” tab so you won’t have to incur penalties for vacant leadership positions in your guinea pig kingdom sheet. You are encouraged to use the NPCs and/or come up with 6 random player characters for the “Leadership” area of the “Kingdom Sheet” tab. Just try your best :) How We Are Handling Combat:
- When entering into combat, I will roll everyone’s Perception (if relevant for a Surprise Round) and everyone’s Initiative to keep the game fluid. - Let me know if you want me to roll specific Knowledge checks on your character’s behalf when posting Initiative. I always make Knowledge rolls after Perception & Initiative rolls. - Type bonuses in, next to, or under your attack and damage rolls. - If you are playing a support class, include brief stats of your bonus when they are activated to remind me and others. E.g “Inspire Courage +1 competence Attack and Damage.” - I will not GMPC your character. However, I will roll an afk player’s out-of-combat skill roll if requested by the party. - If you have an animal companion or familiar, their current HP and AC needs to be listed with your character’s or list it in your combat round post. - With a party of 4 or 5, I will not change CR. With a party of six, I will add +1 to CR. How We Are Handling Party Loot:
- We will be using shared Google Sheets. - I will try to add loot to the Google Sheet as it is acquired on a "Master Copy" tab, but ultimately it is up to the party to divvy loot. - The following points are suggestions to the party: - If you want to claim something, roleplay it in Gameplay or communicate in Discussion, select your character’s name from the dropdown column. Communicate. - Consumables (wands, potions, scrolls) do not count against character wealth. - I will assume that all items not claimed are to be sold in gold splits. - Gold from the sale is split evenly amongst party members as follows: Gold from sale + Player’s 1 claimed item value + P2’s +P3’s +P4’s +P5’s +P6’s = Total Party value Total Party value / Number of players (6) = Value per player Value per player - Player 1’s claimed item value = Player 1’s cut, etc. How We Are Handling Crafting:
- We are following Pathfinder 1e rules for crafting. - A week of crafting is 40 hours. When calculating hours, you may not exceed 45 hours a week on crafting. - You cannot craft the same week you fulfill your 1-week-a-month kingdom role. - Use Archive of Nethys for rules. How We Are Handling Professions:
- We are following Pathfinder 1e rules for professions. - You cannot do your profession the same week you fulfill your 1-week-a-month kingdom role. - Use Archive of Nethys for rules. How We Are Handling Kingdom Building:
- We are using the URule_Kingdom_Sheet, the green Kingdom Sheet I designed, or some other Kingdom Sheet but it must be on Google Sheets. It’s unlikely we’ll use every single feature as it is very detailed. - Everyone at the table will be referencing the Kingdom Turn Sequence (link) and the Kingdom Event Phase. - I expect all my players to read about Kingdom Turn Sequence and have a basic understanding of how things are calculated. - I would like to implement some aspects (like Reputation and Fame) from Ultimate Campaign. - For now, I will do the Kingdom calculations. - For now, I will roll Kingdom checks. - If someone wants to take over Kingdom calculation and checks, I will happily pass the baton. - I expect players to regularly look at the Kingdom Sheet so they know what’s going on. - Players will be responsible for making kingdom decisions. - I require a minimum of two players in agreement for kingdom building/decisions. How We Are Handling Mass Combat (warning: minor spoiler):
- Mass combat will be introduced in Book 4. We will be referencing Mass Combat Rules (link) - I will roll for your army and the enemy army unless the party wants to roll for themselves. I will always roll party first, then enemies. (Just like regular combat initiative.) I will give each phase it’s own post. - TL;DR The basic concept is each army has a Offense Modifier (OM), a Defense Score (DS), and an Army’s Challenge Rating (ACR). Armies roll/act at the same time. Each army rolls a 1d20 and adds their OS. The army does damage to the opposing army for the amount it’s OS exceeds the opposing army’s DS. An army’s Hit Die (HD) is equal to its ACR x the average HP value of 1 HD of the army’s units. If the army’s health falls below or equal to its ACR, the commander has to pass a DC 15 morale check or the army routs. There is gear, potions, etc that you can equip your armies with. Armies can also gain special abilities. How We Are Handling Purchasing Limits:
- I will be referencing the Settlement Stat Block - The settlement size of locations affects the gold value of what can be bought and sold. E.g. A village, which has a population of 61-200 residents, has a purchasing limit of 2,500 gold. - If an item is below a certain gold threshold of the settlement population, it may be purchased. - For simplicity, I am NOT rolling percentage dice on item availability - just be mindful of the settlement stat block. This includes magic items. - I will tell you the population/settlement size so the party will know the purchasing limit. More Q&A:
- Roleplaying and worldbuilding are my favorite aspects of Pathfinder. - If you have one, I would appreciate it if your profession or craft is tied into your character’s backstory. - You can always make Knowledge or Skill rolls even if a post with Knowledge or Skill spoilers does not specifically list it. I don’t always spoiler/list all possible skill rolls. - Sometimes while out adventuring, I will allow alternate skills rolls for a check. E.g. A Knowledge roll instead of an obscure Profession roll. - Your character may have as many non-combat pets as you like. Your character must pay for them and have a way to take care or and feed them. - I don't mind answering questions, but players need to be mostly self-sufficient with their character build and stats. I don’t pretend to be a rules guru. - I like players who politely link Pathfinder 1e rules when mistakes or questions arise. - Regarding rules, I will allow for creative damage/abilities/or skills if they are realistic to real-life. E.g. Using the cantrip Spark to light Gease on fire for 1d6 environmental damage. - I don't expect a player to post while they are on vacation, sick, or lose internet/power. Please take care of yourself. - I understand life can sometimes blindside you. If you need to step away from the table for a month or more, but don’t want to leave the game, communicate that to me. - Historically, I re-recruit at the start of a new book. E.g. beginning of book 2, 3, 4, etc. If we do this, I think a fresh restart would be best.
What are some classic, standalone scenarios that represent Pathfinder the best? Background
Conveniently, our Summer Learning theme is Community, so I've decided to follow up the free miniature painting with at least two one-session adventures where they can use their painted miniature to play. Although ambitious, I want to have six seats for each program session.
Any additional ideas or suggestions are appreciated.
I changed my mind when I rediscovered a character I had. I fell in love with the idea a while ago and forgot about it. She's a herb witch (support) with a hedgehog familiar. She can craft healing and restoration potions, as well as buff and debuff with her cackling. I'm not the type to min-max so you'll see she has some fun RP things on her sheet My submission: Elvina Naieath

I would personally prefer to run an AP with everyone GMing one book. I actually own CotCT but I've never read it lol. I like the idea of an AP because I'd want to keep using my same character. I'm at the awkward stage where I want to start a Kingmaker game and I'm over halfway done prepping materials but I keep telling myself to wait until my Ruins of Alzant table gets to the next and final book. My only pbp game is the one I'm GMing so I've been itching to join another game. I'm sure other GMs can relate to the itch of wanting another game. I think my problem is that I'm a bit of a perfectionist and I'm picky. One thing to note: gestalt is a hard pass for me.
DM Dickie wrote:
I've thought a lot and struggled with my decision, but I've decided to withdraw my application. I think it's admirable to want to include everyone, but I'm not fond of two identical AP tables running concurrently. I wish everyone the best and happy gaming :)
@Ragnar av Gundrun I love your character’s name. It's very fitting for a bloodrager. Rosabel could definitely be considered as naive by others but she wouldn't call herself that. She'd probably have a lot of (what she'd call) suggestions for Ragnar. For example, she'd want Ragnar to kill his enemies as efficiently as possible to minimize pain and suffering. @DM Dickie A tiny addendum to my rushed post: all mentions of Iomedae should read Sarenrae. Oops XD I've enjoyed reading everyone's character concepts. :) I'm going to go silent as to not gunk up this thread. Best of luck to all!
Here is Rosabel, the Duel-talent Human Cleric of Sarenrae
Build: Str 14+2=16, Dex 12, Con 13, Int 10, Wis 16+2=18, Char 14 Brief Backstory: After a fallout with her older brother, whose next in line for the title, Rosabel has little choice but to try her hand at adventuring. She believes nobody is beyond redemption and is an optimist at heart.
IC: Rosabel smiles, revealing her perfect, white teeth. "It doesn't matter where you've been or what you've done. If you open your heart to Iomedae, her redemptive light will embrace you." The petite cleric extends her hand to the child, "come. Let's return to the stall and pay the merchant for that bread. My treat." She holds hands with the child through the busy streets to the market square. Noticing the child's nervous expression, she gives the small hand a reassuring squeeze. I took your repeated use of the word “strange” and ran with it. Here’s Fiona (link), the fire-prone sorcerer. You didn't mention anything about drawbacks, but I tentatively included one. Let me know your ruling. I'm still purchasing items. Might also add more backstory. (I think her unintentional arson may have finally caught up with her.) Please let me know if you'd like me to change or add anything~!
A lot of word vomit so I bolded questions for simplicity. Stormraven wrote: I’m not entirely sure what you mean by ‘foundation/rules So, I tried to adopt an abandoned game but I couldn’t get into it after an honest attempt. I’m a detail-oriented prepper so I also hadn’t prepared to the point I was comfortable. That being said: as a player, I don’t care. But as a GM, it’s important (to me) that I’ve read the content I’m running and I’ve prepped most if not all of the maps and visuals ahead of time. When I prep everything ahead of time, it gives me a way to track how long and how far along we are in the story. It’s rewarding (to me) to have a backlog of combat maps and visuals to look back on. I think it’s easy to forget how much you’ve done when playing several games so I like the reminder. (Also, the posting expectation was never discussed which was frustrating once I adopted the game.) I haven’t found anything I disagree with yet. Stormraven wrote: Improv, following the “Yes, and…” approach. Yeah, I’m in agreement with your “Yes, and…” approach. Question: Does this mean you two decided you want to do a campaign where each person takes a turn running one of the books? Or were you just giving an example? I'm asking because Ebon's post also seems to suggest you were thinking about a collaborative campaign. Question: What is your definition of an "episodic adventure?" Are the “episodic adventures” roughly the length of one of the six books in an Adventure Path or are they more akin to a Pathfinder Society module? Should we expect something short and sweet like one of your 100 post “Space Between” mixed in between “episodic adventures” or would that be someone's "episodic adventure?" “Space Between” is an interesting interlude but I wouldn’t be able to do it for more than a week; existential stuff can get deep very quickly. Stormraven wrote: I’d like to hear what you mean by ‘humble struggle’. I think most of my characters are flawed in some way. I tend to go for the “NPC nobody” type, meaning they’d fit in with the other townsfolk. Heroes are already… well, heroes so it’s nice to add mundane characteristics to them like they have an awesome lemon tart recipe that’s been in their family for generations or their great-great-grandfather was the town’s first blacksmith. I don’t like Elephant in the Room because it’s more rules I have to remember. (In my opinion) I don’t think Elephant in the Room is necessary to have a good character build. I also prefer Pathfinder 1e because I understand it the best. I don't care if other people mix-max but it's not my playstyle as a player. I'd rather write a couple of paragraphs on how my character gets ready in the morning. Gestalt is more to keep track of but I understand the appeal if you’re short on players. It's doesn't interest me at the moment and I'm not ready to dip my toes. ☄. *. ⋆ I think it's important to have a timeline so people don't get lost or disappear 2, 3, 4, etc months into playing. Question: Do you two have a timeframe in mind for this GM alliance? For example, (I think I touched on it earlier) is the goal to have everyone run a module-length story or an adventure path book-length story? (Being that Adventure Paths consist of 6 books.)
GMing:
I’m currently GMing Ruins of Azlant (Books 1-3) which is my first experience. I like to delineate areas of the map, the current day, and when rolls can be made. I also enjoy providing lots of visual aids. I mainly wanted to see if I could do it. I’ve learned that if I GM, it has to be on my terms - I have to set the foundation/rules - and I’m sure a lot of other GMs share the same sentiment. When we finish Ruins of Azlant (Books 1-3) I plan on running another Adventure Path but I'm not in a rush.
Characters:
My favorite hero I’ve played is tied between my bard Nidhi Aashirya and Sydney Jordan a Starfinder character.
Nidhi had a close relationship with her grandmother, which drove her to be heroic even though she was terrified of dying. She also had a habit of interpreting Nethy’s tenants to fit her own perspective. Nidhi loved honey, music, and strong, muscular women. Nidhi was a pretty comical character between her pining for love and her rivalry with her grandmother's pet chicken. (When the undead swept through the city of Wati, they killed all but one of Nidhi’s grandmother’s chickens. That chicken went on to become Nidhi’s biggest rival for her grandmother’s attention.) Sydney was more gritty. She had the mouth of a sailor, loved hair dye and junk food, and her biggest flaw was her concern that people might see her as being “weak.” My peak of loving Sydney was when she had a dynamic with Grix, who, being a shirren, had a different cultural perspective.
Transparency:
I’m blunt and I don’t want to waste your time so let me be fully transparent:
- I took a one-year hiatus from the message boards due to real-life. I still regret the hiatus. - I have trouble investing if there’s not an eventual connection to another character or the world. - Historically, I have let a PbP game because I disliked one of the players. I never said anything about it. I just didn’t like their vibe (but I wish them the best.) - I don’t like rolling for stats. I prefer the cookie-cutter 15 or 20-point buy because it’s fair to everyone. - I’m all about the humble struggle so gestalt and elephant in the room feats don’t interest me. I like what you two have written and I appreciate your honesty. I hope you're able to find the people and launch what you're looking for :)
I think you’d have the most interest if you used Golarion as the campaign setting. It would also be less work on your end because homebrews already take a lot of mental energy. Do you know how long you want your homebrew to be? Is this to get your feet wet for something larger down the road? If you want your game to be longer, like level 1 to 16, I suggest just running an Adventure Path and tailoring it to your own style. A perfect example is the Kingmaker GM Wolf is running - it is reskinned with an undead/zombie twist! Or GMMichael who is running Rise of The Runelords reskinned in a modern setting. Just throwing out ideas. Reskinned Adventure Paths tend to be popular, though not as popular as classic Adventure Paths with classic character creation and clearly outlined rules.
So is Ting Ting a double first name like Mary Ann or John Henry or is Ting the middle name? :o Also, does being hatched present unique social barriers when understanding courting and romantic relationships of non-tengu? (How assimilated is he?) I can only imagine the hilarious dating advice a tengu might give.
@Aganhei thanks for your timely reply. I expect this will be a popular thread due in part to your consistency! Age: 110 + 6d6 ⇒ 110 + (6, 5, 1, 5, 6, 3) = 136
Yeah, I was thinking Elvina would probably know Shalelu since they're both elves. With your permission, Elvina and Shalelu could be friends and Ameiko an acquaintance. Since (judging from your Gameplay) Ameiko and Shalelu are close friends, right? Rise of Runelord Shalelu spoilers:
(With your permission) Elvina may have also met Jakardros, who was Shalelu's mother’s lover at one time. Shalelu called Jakardros her stepfather. Elvina probably knew Shalelu's mother depending on when she was slain in a dragon attack.
I don't remember learning anything about Shalelu's birth father in Runelords. How do you feel your players referencing an NPC from another AP (Runelords) that is related to an NPC in this AP?
Here is Elvina Naieath for your consideration! She's a Varisian wanderer who supports allies and inconveniences foes. When she's not cackling or casting spells, she's shooting a crossbow. I originally created her for a different campaign but wasn't selected. Tweaked her to level 3. Her one point in Profession Herbalist is fluff for her character background. Elvina would be part of the caravan group. It fits really well with her backstory. She's probably been to Sandpoint on occasion as well. I'm familiar with Ameiko Kaijitsu from Runelords but I've never played Jade Regent. It looks fun :)
Here is Fiona, the arcane sorcerer. She might turn from a half-elf to a tiefling. Tieflings seem more thematic with accidentally setting things on fire. Also, her stats are currently a 20 point buy. If selected, I'd translate it to the rolled ones (which are higher)
Character Concepts. I have two character ideas. One is a witch with a hedgehog familiar and a passion for nature/plant keeping. Not sure if the witch would be a good fit for the dungeon crawl environment. The second is an arcane sorcerer who will probably be a hotheaded half-elf or tiefling. I'm not a min-maxer. Experience. I've been on the boards for a while. My first character was a bard. I currently GM a Ruins of Azlant game and play a wizard in a Reign of Winter game. In-person, I play Skulls and Shackles (human packmaster hunter) on Fridays and Rise of the Runelords (gnome fey sorcerer) on Sundays. Interest. There aren't many Pathfinder 1e Adventure Paths on the Recruitment thread and I'm only interested in Pathfinder 1e. I like your daily post goal. If there are enough people really hyped for your game, you should pick them over me. I'm just looking for another roleplay/creative writing outlet.
Looking at player profiles, I assume all the answers to my questions are yes except for the last one. 1: 5d6 - 1 - 3 ⇒ (4, 5, 6, 3, 1) - 1 - 3 = 15
I was in one of your other zombie games before Wolf and I regret that it died. I'm dotting for interest. Probably a sorcerer or witch Do you mind reminding us of the character creation guidelines?
Edit: Sorry if you're already elbows-deep in a character guidelines post. You ninjaed my post but I figured I'd ask anyway :x Character wealth (link) at level 6 is 16,000 gp
