Trying again, Six comes back with a reverse swing for the Ganger's head.

Fighting w Staff: 1d10 ⇒ 41d6 ⇒ 6

7 to hit with 19 damage. Incidentally I only have 3 bennies left, as I used one for the last roll.

Busy weekend as well and I usually don't post on weekends anyway.

@Fortune- just a realism note: an athame would never be used in combat, only in ritual, unless you are an evil sorceress, in which case, carry on. :-)

Six is done playing games with low level gangers, being bred to fight other supers. He powers up his fist and lets loose, but the V'Sori gear the ganger has seems to be helping him. Six had to get rid of it somehow.

Fighting, Power Punch: 1d10 ⇒ 41d6 ⇒ 2

Six looks down at the blade that goes across his armor as if it were a gnat. ”You will have to try harder than that.” He then brings his pain staff down hard across the ganger’s hands. Unfortunately the ganger is tougher than he looks, so Six also adds a kick to the knees, but the bad guy’s defenses are better than his offense.

The trait roll can ace, which is to help beat the opponent's parry, especially if it is high and you can get extra damage if you specifically attack his hand (called shot -4). However, if you only target the gauntlet, then you are correct, no Ace bonus damage. I once had a Jedi Star Knight in another game and that was his favorite tactic.

VeeSix - what I'm asking for is where each component of your damage dice comes from. Like, I can tell the d10 is your STR just by looking, but what Superpowers or Edges (or whatever) gives you the d4 and the two d6's?

d4 Brawler

VeeSix = could you please describe (in terms of Edges, etc.) where your d10+2d6+d6 damage comes from (or was that last d6 assuming a Raise on the Fighting), and note it on your on-line character sheet?

The last d6 was from a possible raise on the hit. I'll try to remember to do that separately next time. The d10+d4+2d6 is VeeSix's power punch attack, though I seem to have forgotten to add in the d4 for that.

Six lays into the gangers with fists, feet, and whatever else he can hit them with.

Round 1 (2C)
Fighting: 1d10 + 1d10 ⇒ (10) + (7) = 171d6 ⇒ 4

I have this vision in my head of Six suddenly appearing through Fortune's illusion of Hank and then knocking out one of the guards with a punch.

I would say we need to go and find out just where this is taking place and put a stop to it. Perhaps a Networking roll to ask the right questions to the right people.

Six ponders their situation. ”We don’t really have anything from King Something Something and we’ve stirred up some trouble and the population is suffering for it. I say we go streetside and start busting some heads until we get to whoever is leading these cheap shots and deal with it.

”You’re right.” Six says as he finishes tying up the last of the gangers. ”The last thing we need is having to explain how we managed to take them all down so quickly.” He then taps the mic on his earpiece and contacts Meros. ”We’re done here boss, we need the locals to come pick up the trash, if you would be so kind as to let them know.”

He then takes over watch as until the last of his team gets into the van.

Seeing that the only one still standing is one of the thugs, he grimaces and picks up speed as he runs towards the thug, grabs him by the shoulders and says, ’I see we have one that just won’t give up. Teach him his lesson, Angel.”

I’ll keep Six the same then and as he gets stronger, perhaps his regeneration will improve over time.

Six was built to take damage from superpowers and heavy weapons, thus his high Toughness and Regeneration, which incidentally, is already at once per hour. I’d be more than happy to lower the Toughness to increase his Regeneration to much faster if needed to balance the combats. My ultimate goal is for him to be someone that keeps coming back, no matter what they dish at him. He may not be able to do too much damage, but he can take it. Remember the V’Sori wanted something that the supervillains couldn’t kill.

Hearing Hellion’s call to arms, Vee Six nearly knocks Fortune over rushing into battle. Quickly surveying the battlefield, he sees Hellion already fighting the leader. He would liked that opportunity, but he knows well enough to not get into the middle of a duel. Instead he chooses the next largest thug and with a glare of menace, runs right towards him, staff powering up. Instead of hitting him with it, Six knows they want to keep a few of them alive, so he leaps up and plants a foot directly into the man’s chest.

Run towards closest thug, if necessary.

Hey DM, I’ve been ill the last couple of days (literally couldn’t see out of one eye), and I don’t usually post on weekends, but to answer your question about Six’s Toughness, Here is how I calculated it.

Standard 2+ Vigor (d12+1/2= 6)=8 + Powers 13= 21 +Brawny and Bruiser 2= 23, +2 Armor =25. I remember us having a discussion about this though and you didn’t want it so high, but I will make the change. I know it’s going to make me a target for rail guns and anti-tank weapons…

Six could sense there was trouble brewing, but so far, there was more posturing than anything. He was tired of it, though, and wanted to end this charade once and for all. He then realized he hadn’t been watching the area, like he was supposed to, especially with Fortune deep in her cards. He glanced around quickly, but he was sure he already missed something.

During the drive over, Six listens to all that Fortune tells them with a piqued interest. This teenage girl could alter reality in ways he never thought possible and all by looking at a peculiar deck of cards. When she finished, he says, ”I think something enough to stun or even prevent most of the thugs from attacking so we can focus on their leader would be nice. He will have the most information, so we should nab him first.”

When they arrive, Six readies himself to leap out of the van if necessary, watching Hellion talk to the leader. As he does so, he sizes him up, seeing what kind of threat he might be.

Six nods at Hellion. ”Just say the word and we’ll be on them.” He pats his armor and weapons. He then looks at Rashomon. ”We may have to bring at least one weapon to show we have the merchandise. They will want to see the stuff before even bothering to talk. If we got nothing, I don’t think they will hesitate to gun us down for simply moving in on their turf.”

”Then you faired very well.”, Six says as Fortune comes in. ”The area you were in must not have been too heavily guarded and that means the gang feels untouchable. Now we have their attention. Let’s get ready for that meet up. We might want to vet the area first and make sure we won’t be rudely interrupted.”

I don't see a problem with it, other than keeping track of what happens in game terms should we roll that high again.

For me, when I describe damage, unless it does an actual wound, the hit never really struck the target, but it may have hit armor, hit something nearby causing shrapnel to hit them, knocked something into their face, anything to mess up their combat ability but not actually wound them (i.e. Shaken). Where it hits is irrelevant, it just causes enough for them to question their willingness to keep fighting.

I would say that even with Fortune's description of between the legs, she, as a player, didn't call out that she was doing a called shot. In my games, I rule that unless the player calls it out, in game terms it is still a 'torso' shot, no matter the in-story description.

Your way works as well, as it gives you a good way to call out where the target is hit without having to use random hit location tables. I have no problem with doing it that way and I have no compunctions about gory descriptors, I use them myself.

Six pipes up as Fortune explains her plan. ”Always assume they will double-cross us. Either way, we can use the opportunity to take a few of them down and send a message that they will understand.”

Six watches Hellion have her moment and then storm out. At first he wants to follow her, but decides she’d rather be alone. She knows if there’s trouble, the team is on the other end of the earbud and Rash can get them there in a moment. Six understood her frustration though. This disembodied voice who claimed to be one of the saviors of the world against the V’Sori and yet there were numerous sites that contained many more of them just hiding out, waiting to cause trouble and he seems to think that he can just continue to tell people what to do. Six squeezes a bit too hard on a piece of equipment, breaking it. ”Take it out of my paycheck.”, he mutters. Six then gets back to focusing on helping Rash with the gear.

Adding a few more bits and bobbles from the crates to his collection, Six returns to the conversation back at base, speaking as if he were talking to them the whole time. ”..and I also think that taking down the leadership will just create a void for others to try and fill up. It would be a temporary setback. On the other hand, it would give us time to make some inroads with the locals.”
