Heya people,
This is one of those uncanny, strange situations when Real Life takes precedence over gaming - just today I started on a new job, a real challenge that I think may actually change things for me (and my family) in the future.
It is IT related [one if my areas of expertise I guess ;)], and most likely means soon I will be sitting in front of a laptop on my own, with enough autonomy to spend my time as I see fit - improving in my ITIL knowledge, posting on one of my numerous PbP games, whatever...
The thing is, I need to commit to this one, so it means some serious decisions regarding my games - I simply cannot stick with all of them, so I have taken the decision to stick with my oldest games, ones I have committed to long ago, and which have stuck with me for a looooong time.
Bigrin, what you are doing is simply fantastic - I am a crazy fan of Rappan Athuk, and I can only hope to someday live up to your game. But not right now - I am going to drop out, in spite of admiring your attention to detail.
I can only hope me leaving will be something quickly assimilated, and look forward to the chance of having an opportunity to play with you all in a near future, RL permitting.
I am honestly sorry for dropping out... I wish you all a great game (and I am sure it will be so), and Bigrin, thanks for giving me a chance of playing in your game - it was honestly worthwhile.
Thank you all again.
Female
Deal ;) Let us keep moving then?
Female
Slow response - sorry Abrosh. Trihedron is in top shape :D
Trihedron stands watch as Tamis sweeps the contents of the chest.
Female
Cool, thanks Bigrin. Hey! We're about 1k to go for next level! ;)
Female
That WAS tough - those skeletons are resilient as hell! Geeeeez...
Nodding at the chest in the corner, Trihedron stands watch over the piled bones - "We should check that for traps, magical or otherwise"
Bigrin, are you keeping tabs on the XP or should we? :D
Female
Trihedron peppers the last remaining skeleton with blunt arrows.
Flurry of Blunt Arrows 1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Damage if it hits: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Flurry of Blunt Arrows 2: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Damage if it hits: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Female
"Don't give up - if you insist on honing your body and will for it, you shall improve Bob" - Trihedron encourages her companion.
Now I am Inspiring Courage :D
Who is up by the way?
Female
Trihedron peppers the skeleton fighting her sister with a flurry of blunt arrows.
Flurry of Blunt Arrows 1 on AO:11: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Damage if it hits: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Flurry of Blunt Arrows 2 on AO:11: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Damage if it hits: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Female
Trihedron continues her assault on the last onyx skeleton - "Stand fast friends, they waver" - she urges her companions.
Flurry of Blunt Arrows 1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26
Damage if it hits: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Flurry of Blunt Arrows 2: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Damage if it hits: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Female
Better roll for the attack then? :D
Female
According to the map, Trihedron would then move 5' back before shooting - going to AR:11
Female
Female
Try and hit them with your buckler? :D
Female
Yeah, map link not working here either.
Trihedron continues peppering the closest skeleton as hard as she can.
Flurry of Blunt Arrows 1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Damage if it hits: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Flurry of Blunt Arrows 2: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Damage if it hits: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Female
Are we missing actions? I think bad, evil, resistant skeletons are up? :D
Female
Trihedron continues attacking the lead skeleton - "Can any of you magically enhance our weapons?" - she inquires of her companions.
Flurry of Blunt arrows 1 on AO:11: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
Damage if it hits: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Flurry of Blunt arrows 2 on AO:11: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Damage if it hits: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Female
"I remember now" - Trihedron warns her companions - "These undead are different - intelligent, tactical, and above all very deadly due to their prowess with their dual short swords and damage reduction against all but good aligned blunt weapons"
Female
Thanks for keeping us in the loop Bigrin.
Trihedron tries to remember whatever she knows about these undead.
Knowledge (Religion): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
She decides changing tactics, and use blunt-tipped arrows.
Flurry of Arrows 1 on AO:11: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
Damage if it hits: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Flurry of Arrows 2 on AO:11: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
Damage if it hits: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Wow... Three 19's in a row? And for such a crappy damage...
Female
Who is up? Tamis? *bumps*
Female
Trihedron takes a step back, and unleashes a volley at the closest creature.
Shifting to AQ:11
Flurry of arrows 1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Damage if it hits: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Flurry of arrows 2: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Damage if it hits: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

Female
Trihedron nods, then moves towards the area, scanning it for traps.
Taking 20 for 36 (+2 bonus to Perception vs unusual stonework included)
Female
With a nod to her sister, and the others a tad back, Trihedron again starts on the move, senses fully alert.
Can we assume Trihedron regularly takes 10 (can be done right?): 10 + 14 = 24<-(+2 bonus to Perception vs unusual stonework. Free check within 10 feet)
Just suggesting the above on 'regular tunnels' for the sake of expediency and moving the game along - if there are specific features, Trihedron will likely be more careful ;)
Female
"We may soon find out" - Trihedron pipes in, moving up to the next corner, eyes wary of what may lie in wait.
Moving to AS:13
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29<-(+2 bonus to Perception vs unusual stonework. Free check within 10 feet)
Female
Finding the shallow hole in the floor, Trihedron calls her companion's attention to it - "Can anyone make anything of this? Why would it be here?" - she asks them.
Someone with Knowledge (Nature) could check? I could use Survival if it makes any sense:
Survival: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
Trying the key on the door, the dwarven woman is puzzled as it simply will not come out - "Strange..." - she ponders, looking back to the others with a shrug - "Magic?"
DM Bigrin, the key turns, right?
Female
Moving across the hallway, Trihedron checks the northern door first for sounds or any other signs.
Taking 20 for 34 (or 36 if the door is made of stone)
Female
Ok, I'll push to move this.
Trihedron inches carefully along up to the corner and peeks into the area beyond.
Moving to AX:21, after inspecting the stairs for traps.
Perception: 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 14 + 2 = 20
Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
Female
Rest uneventful? If not, Trihedron only sleeps for 2 hours due to her ring of sustenance - she can sleep during first watch, then watch the rest of the night - alone or with someone else. Go!
Female
Agreed. Lets take a break and recover.
Female
Bump, do we go downstairs, or you guys want a break first?
Female
"I hesitate in following the stairs, but the truth is that any path we chose will leave other avenues behind, from which we can be ambushed, so I agree with you sister" - Trihedron comments - "I will close the march, and keep an eye on the tunnel behind us. Let us get moving" - she adds.
Female
Fort Save: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 7 - 2 = 14
Phew... Done :D
Female
Any chance to remove the Sickened condition with your Heal skill? :D
Lets move along guys - Tamis, you taking the cloak?
Female
Noticing Wesley examining the items, Trihedron moves closer - "Anything useful?" - her eyes are still watching their surroundings, wary of any additional attackers, or the ones that escaped.
Perception: 1d20 + 14 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 14 - 2 = 31

Female
"We fell prey to our own will to assist" - Trihedron pipes in - "For a moment there I grew suspicious of the way we were being drawn out, but it was too late" - she shakes her head, then turns to her companions - "Well done to all, we fought back the trap against dire odds"
As Bob shows his will to take the bow and some arrows, she nods - "Of course friend, take it and put it to good use. I will take the remaining arrows."
Abroshqualmie wrote: does anyone need more healing?
make sure you mark your 17 pts tram
"I am well" - she retorts - "Only a lingering, sickening feeling from our run in with that monstrosity back there" - she indicates, referring the monster that moved out of the toilet.
"As for these items" - she indicates the gathered loot - "Mayhaps we can ascertain their properties?"
bob the bard wrote: .....Also not to alarm you Tamis. You may have bin infected with lycanthropy from the wererat but I'm sure Abroshqualmie can take care of that and most of are poising right"
*with a hope full smile*
Trihedron turns an alarmed look on her sister - "You think that is possible..? How are you feeling sister?" - she asks, approaching Tamis.
Female
Just realized I forgot about the haste bonus in my previous attacks. The rolls to hit should be 26 and 15. The third attack:
Flurry of arrows haste: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
Damage if it hits: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Female
No worries DM Bigrin, all is sorted now ;) Wesley and Abrosh to go?
Female
I'm assuming that instead of firing, Trihedron moved last round:
Intent on taking down those raining death from above, and beyond the immediate reach from her companions, the monk starts peppering them with arrows.
Firing at the one in BB:29
Flurry of Arrows 1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Damage if it hits: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Flurry of Arrows 2: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Damage if it hits: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Female
So... Who can I shoot? Who? Who? :D
Female
DM Bigrin, since Trihedron was also attacked, it means she can shoot back, correct? Who exactly would she be able to attack?
Female
Dang, I was just about to roll a sense motive on the 'helpless' girl... On my phone right now. Will update later on.
Fort: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 7 - 2 = 23
I am still sickened, right? Or..?
Female
By the way, I am still assuming bob's Inspire Courage :D
Female
Trihedron takes a step forward, and unleashes two more arrows at the rats - "Do these vermin never end..?" - she mutters.
5' step into BJ:46, flurry of arrows on rat BB:36
Flurry 1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Damage: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Flurry 2: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Female
No worries Bigrin, we're still sticking around ;) Is it our turn?
Female
Trihedron stands fast - the rats attacking the woman now visible, her bow continues its song, as she fires, giving priority to the ones focused on their cornered prey.
Flurry 1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Flurry 2: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Damage: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Female
Round 4:
Trihedron steps in closer, assisting her sister, and unleashing a volley at the big rat attacking her.
Moving to BJ:48, and targetting the big rat in BJ:42
Longbow Shot: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 12 - 2 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
If the large rat died from Tamis attack, Trihedron will instead target the second one assailing her sister = BJ:41
Female
Trihedron doesn't spend any further time considering the effectiveness of her bow against a so large amount of small critters, and decides to attack to the best of her abilities.
Flurry 1: 1d20 + 10 - 2 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 10 - 2 - 2 + 1 = 9Damage: 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 + 4 + 1 = 13
Flurry 2: 1d20 + 10 - 2 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 10 - 2 - 2 + 1 = 10Damage: 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 1 + 4 + 1 = 12
Wow...
Female
Elder Scrolls will do that to you - haven't tried it yet though. Any good? :D
DM Bigrin, how useful are arrows in this situation really?
Female
I was expecting someone to lay them down with fire :D
