![]() Here's Thunarr for your consideration. He mentally thanked Jubrayl for telling him about this game as he looked around the table. Not a decent gambler here. he thinks. John, the big sailor across from him, had just got paid and was flush with confidence and money. It had cost Thunarr some coin, but he finally had the big guy figured out. Looking at the largest pot the table had seen tonight he slides ten gold coins into the center. "Damn, if I don't feel lucky tonight, Big John. But I think I'll call you." He hides a smile as John suddenly realizes that he wasn't bluffing. Sure enough Thunarr's hand takes the day, but Thunarr's attention wasn't on the pot as he raked the money in. He could see the rage building in John's eyes and with a sinking feeling he realized that this wasn't going to end well. He reacted before John did and as John pulled the knife, Thunarr grabed the hand and twisted at the wrist making John drop the knife. "Calm down, John. No need to get violent." he says. Sensing movement behind him he twists and the dagger that was headed for his kidneys scraped across the chain shirt he had hidden under his vest. That was it. Nobody tried to kill him and got away with it. Thunarr punches John's friend twice, taking him to the ground. Startled, John reaches again for the dagger, but finds it kicked from his grasp. Well, I'd say that's it for this game "Thank you gentlemen for an wonderful evening." he says as the fills his sack up with his winnings. He picks up the dagger on the floor. "Oh, I think I'll take this, John. Someone might get hurt." and he warily heads back to Fatman's Feedbag. Thunarr:

Thunarr's parents were archeologists. His early childhood was happy, his parents would take him along and he would spend hours playing in the digs while his parents worked. One day when he was 12, he was coming back to his parent's work site when he noticed some horses there that hadn't been there when he left. Sneaking back, he saw that his parents were in a heated discussion with some men wearing tabards and armor. To his horror, they killed his parents in cold blood, right in front of him. They had been talking about a book, and Thunarr was pretty sure he knew where it was. His father hadn't actually taken it out of the dig site yet. Running to the dig site he retrieved the book and headed towards town to find someone to help. Upon arrival at the city, he noticed that the town's marshall was actually talking to some people wearing the same tabards and seemed to be on good terms with them. At that point, he just ran. He ran until he stumbled into a Sczami camp. They took him in. They taught him how to gamble, how to con and steal. He grew to love them as his surrogate parents. Now he goes from town to town, gambling, and has come to Sandpoint where he has looked up Jubrayl, the Sczami contact in the town. The book was written in Aklo and was an ancient book of unarmed techniques. He has studied some of it but still has a long way to go. ![]()

![]() Thunarr looks at the Sorcerer, and seeing the Sorcerer agree to the hobgoblin terms he begins to walk up towards the hobgoblins, accompanying the Sorcerer. He mutters in a low whisper to the Sorcerer. "Hate to say it, but they're fixin to try to kill you once they have the money. If they were just after the money they would have let me carry it. Be ready, I'll do my best to get your sister out of here." ![]()

![]() Thunar steps 5' forward. "Oh, he told us how he betrayed you, and you have some small sympathy from me in that regard. I would try to get my money's worth from him also, but I think I could have found a less cowardly way then kidnapping an innocent. And you call yourselves mercenaries. If you're wanting a more dangerous hostage then let her go and I'll take her place. I'll bring you the money and as I approach you let her approach us. When I get to you, you can examine the payment while we examine the girl to make sure she isn't harmed. Then we can conclude this ugly buisness once and for all." ![]()

![]() After a cursory looks at the big rock, Thunar shrugs and decides not to climb it, although it would be a great vantage point. He does point out that someone does need to check out the top of the rock, just to make sure there are no surprises waiting up there. If asked why he doesn't, he says "What do I look like, a monk?"

![]() Well this is a moral dilemma. thinks Thanar. He broke his word and his arrangement with the hobgoblins so I've got to side with the hobgoblins in this case. A man's word is not only his reputation, it goes beyond that. Laws will come and go but if people keep their promises, civilization will do just fine. On the other hand we'll get paid more if we just go in and kill them. Although that is dependent on a man whose word can no longer be trusted. After wrestling with his conscious he decides in favor of the hobgoblins.
Thunar continues. "Now tell us everything about this mercenary group. How many does it consist of and any casters?" ![]()

![]() I was going to say poor Boris when I looked at the map, then I saw how much damage he rolled. :) Since this is technically a surprise round only a standard action, right? Also, for next round Thunar doesn't want to drop the latern, but he would like to punch and then kick. Will the kick be at any minuses for the watery terrain and if so can he mitigate it by Acrobatics?

![]() Thunar buys a hooded latern and has continual flame cast on the wick, giving him a light source he can shutter if need be. He also buys a deluxe dungeoneering kit before entering the sewers and some cheap clothes he's not going to worry about washing, he'll just burn them after he comes up. He will wear it over the mithral shirt. He buys three Cure Light Potions, just in case. He leaves his parent's book hidden in his inn room.
