Male Orc Expert 5

Alright have fun with school!

*head meets desk*

Perhaps a barbarian with freakishly long arms who only wears scars and a strategically placed gourd? (Character from Skull and Shackles game that feel through)

Male Orc Expert 5

I'll think on it. Ima take a break from the boards tonight though.

The Exchange

Just watching the attrition rate happening here and across the boards, it seems about par for the course. It just sucks when it occurs here. Life happens. Ashara was kind enough to provide notice, instead of flaking off. I am appreciative that TarkXT has not thrown in the towel as the DM. Can't imagine how often the plot-line gets twisted because we zigged instead of zagged. If I was the DM for 6 campaigns I'd have notecards falling out of notebooks in binders covered by stickpads.

I thank you for hosting this. [/brown nosing]

While I'd love to explore the Alkenstar wasteland and see what glorious death awaits my half-orc ranger, feel free to put this in hiatus. No hard feelings here. Otherwise I can resume the one post/day character building. ;-)

Man, its testament to a patient GM.

This is why I GM only PFS PbP - someone flakes you only have a two week gap before they can be seamlesly replaced :) My patience wouldn't cope otherwise!

Are you guys in the new Alkenstar Module (or is that not out yet?)

Male Orc Expert 5

So Alkenstar players do we want a weird barbarian? At this point damn near anyone sounds good to me....

The Exchange

Sure thang. Bring in Gourdy. Does that bring us up to three or do we have a silent fourth?

Sure

Yarp.

Noonan wasn't sure what had happened. He had a pretty good thing going on the Wormwood; a job, food and rum, friends, soon to be dead enemies and his parrot.

Then things went strange and he was now someplace else...

It was a very bad day..

No food or rum..

No job

No friends or enemies..

At least he still had his parrot.

The Exchange

And a gourd. Please say a gourd... O.o

Do me a favor and hold off on the introduction for now. Needing to set up the map for the inevitable ambush with the skinstealing fey horror.

How have you guys been feeling about the Advanced Class Guide playtest? I shamelessly admit to looking only at the Swashbuckler and Brawler with detail (just skimmed the other classes) and I'm liking what I'm seeing (apart from the editing mistakes playtest documents are bound to have).

Male Orc Expert 5

Arcanist is okay but boring.

Bloodrager is the most metal of all classes. Give me one of those, a barbarian, a skald, and an Evangelist of Gorum and we have the cover for every metal album ever.

Brawler is okay but needs more flavor.

Hunter needs more love.

Investigator caught the rogue, stabbed him to death and peed on his corpse shortly before banging his wife.

That's as far as I gotten into detail with them.

I found the Skald's selection of weapons ludicrous. The name evokes a norse-like fighting loremaster, but they use pointy sticks and whips. There really should be an axe there somewhere.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

I have not seen anything that made me go WOW. I would have loved something that combined monk and druid. Sort of a Ferrel Druid which enables the druid to use wisdom with AC, and allows natural attacks while in wild shape as part of a flurry of blows.

Arcanist is interesting, but nothing special. I have never liked barbarians, so all the barbarian related classes don't really interest me. I have not looked at most of the others, but a quick overview did not really make me want to jump in immediately.

The Swashbuckler really made me go wow for the sheer amount of stuff they get. But then again I'm somewhat biased (my first AD&D character was a swashbuckler fighter). The mechanics are somewhat clunky (waiting for a Weapon Finesse-like ability until level 2 makes for a terrible level 1 grinding experience), but provide a lot of cool options. I just do not think the relatively short stack of panache points can appropriately fuel the class' abilities, though.

Levelling 1d10 ⇒ 8 - Ranger
Thinking Boon Companion to make Scraps a bit better/worthwhile.
FE=Evil Outsider +4 most likely.

Why bother with the map? I was thinking about setting tent city on fire and killing any survivors.

No? JK.

Male Orc Expert 5

Heh, alkenstar will continue tommorrow. I'll get gourdy in soon enough if they can give me a fair justification for being in alkenstar. I'm debating reopening the recruitment thread and allowing a playtest class maybe as a way to generate some extra interest but we'll see.

Channel 2/9 G.AngelAspect,Shield of Faith(+4 AC) Cleric/Rogue 15HP87/112,Init+4,F13R11W17,Per+25,AC24T10FF24

A wizard did it.

F Stormborn sorceror(2), Halfling Female [AC 13, Current HP 2/10, F+1, R+2, W+5, Init +3,Perc+3]

Yeah I was looking over the proposed classes. Thinking about running a couple of the older PFS scenarios at my FLGS with playtesting pregens. Just have to generate the PCs now.

Hit Die Roll: 1d12 ⇒ 4

The Exchange

Upon thinking about it, I believe opening up the Alkenstar as a playtest is an excellent idea. The timing is there. This is a homebrew campaign with not run of the mill monsters. So far we have a rather high attrition. What's not to try?

Do you want the existing characters to swap out for a playtest class?

Male Orc Expert 5

No no, that's not necessary. I like the characters as they are now.

Especially their skin....

Male Orc Expert 5

Just giving people ehre a shot at this.

Hi, I'm Boris. I've been posting as alternately Arae and Boris in the recruitment thread.

I'll be playtesting my slayer.

Female Half-Orc Warpriest 3 HP: 23/23 Init: +1 AC: 19 (T: 12, FF 17) Saves: F: +4 R: +2 W: +5 Blessings: 3/4

One warpriest reporting in! :D

Using this old alias I had lying around since it's an half-orc.

Male Human Brawler 1 | HP 11/11 | AC 16, 12T, 14FF | Perception +5 | Sense Motive +7 | Fort +2, Ref+4, Wil +1

Thunar here! Playtesting a brawler.

Male Orc Expert 5

Alrighty, just going to wait for Mark to finish making his hunter and we're good to go. I psoted the gameplay thread. These are going to be quick encounters with the first one being CR equivalent for the group in the first CR+1 in the second and CR+3 in the third.

The goal here is to really push the classes to their limits within a certain amount of reason.

I'll have my hunter up within the next couple of hours.

Crap, sorry about that, didn't see the gameplay thread was up.

Posting now.

Male Orc Expert 5

Boris do me a favor adn get your whole sheet under you profile so i dont ahve to keep hunting for it.

Male Orc Expert 5

Also I forgot to add the damn sorcerer into this fight.

That's okay I don't think he'd make any difference here at all.

Male Human LG Human Slayer 3 | Init+4 | Hp30/30 | AC16 | FF14 | T12 | F+5 | R+5 | W+3 | Prcp+6 | S.Mot+0

'Sir yessir :)

Knew I should have put a proper alias together.

Male Orc Expert 5

I just shaved because I'm getting my licensed renewed tomorrow.

Given I allowed my face to grow a nice winter coat before I took up a razor and did the deed it now hurts in ways difficult to describe other than ARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!

That is all.

Male Human LG Human Slayer 3 | Init+4 | Hp30/30 | AC16 | FF14 | T12 | F+5 | R+5 | W+3 | Prcp+6 | S.Mot+0

Having removed a couple of nice growths myself I can recommend cutting the beard down to size before taking a razor to it.

Not in use

Shaving? what is this arcane art of which you speak?

Male Human, dual talent Hedgewitch 3

Tark How obvious is hypnotism when it is cast? And is 'Stay out of any fighting between crewmembers.' a "brief and reasonable" request per the requirements of the spell? Thinking it may be useful to peel off some of the less dedicated opposition.

Rat, probably

Funny I find having longer/thicker facial hair makes it easier to shave. But then I use an old fashioned razor with an actual blade so that may effect the results.

Male Orc Expert 5

Food for Though/paranoia fuel for the alkenstar group: Assuming the miner was not actually a skinstealing monster of cruelty and horror how would you know he was not responsible for the mutants getting down there from the start?

In other new news - the revised Arcanist is great. Really nails the niche between Wizard and Sorcerer while giving it some of it's own panache and flair.

Male Orc Expert 5

Did they release the class revisions?

Only the new version of the Arcanist from what I can see.

Male Orc Expert 5

Damn. Was hoping for a hunter revision.

Male Human Expert 2/Alchemist 1/Warrior 1

Until I see something else, I'll asume they're working really hard to fix the class.
