One of the group spots Thorn and beckons him over, distracting him from keeping an eye on the room. He tries to wave them off, but they continue to beckon him over. If he declines again, he risks bringing attention to himself and blowing their cover. He walks over to the group of distinguished gentlemen and ladies, taking a seat that still gives him some degree of oversight of the room. One of the women - a plain woman wearing a simple dark gown, clearly in some sort of business - offers him a drink. It is clear that she has a case of mistaken identity. She apparently wants to hire this Taluras as an envoy to trade with the reclusive elven nation.
Thorn quickly observed a woman who stood in a group of distinguished gentlemen and ladies across the room. The woman wore a simple dark green dress and waived Thorn to their group. Thorn paused momentarily to quickly scan the room for a rouse. The woman waived him over to the group once more with more vigor and now the rest of the group turned to stare at him. Thorn soon realized that this group would bring unwanted attention to himself so he rose with haste and worked his way through the crowd. Thorn was able to work his way through the crowd with ease thanks to his size and presence.
As soon as Thorn arrived to the outskirt of the group The woman in green approached him with a drink held in her out reached hand. The woman says "What a fortunate boon that you have arrived early, Taluras! In light of your pending arrival, we were discussing Kyonin. Do you believe that Queen Telandia will open more of the markets to our trade?" Thorn realized the woman believed him to be another person "Taluras, I believe" Thorn said to himself. Thorn grabbed the drink from the woman and began to take a couple of gulps and wiped quickly wiped the left over beverage running down his chin with his wrist. "Thank you for the drink, I traveled with haste and the journey left me somewhat parched. You are a true blessing to weary traveler." Thorn slowly finishes his drink and use the time to give the entire group a once over from head to toe. Thorn continued "What about Kyonin were you all discussing before I arrived?....Oh and as for your question regarding the Queen, she is like the elven nation and keeps her decisions a mystery to all, even myself!"

Thorn trails in after the rest of his party and stops in the door way briefly to give a quick scan of the room to spot a quiet place to sit and enjoy a drink. Thorn spots an empty table tucked away in a dark and remote corner. Thorn sits in one of the two chairs with his back to the corner. After getting himself comfortable in his chair Thorn gives the waitress a nod of the head to get her attention. Once the waitress makes her way through the crowd Thorn orders a large goblet of ale. "Looks to be a busy night for you. If you do not mind could I trouble you for a goblet of your best ale."
She quickly responds "Sure thing honey, but it might take me a bit to make my way back to you. As you mentioned before we are quite busy and short staffed so be patient with me. OK?" Thorn began to open his mouth with a response but the waitress was gone as fast she arrived as she continued her round of the tavern. While waiting for the waitress to return with his ale, Thorn takes this time to examine the entire room, locating each of his crew members first, then identifying their target Grover Petrucio and finally giving a once over the rest of the remaining patrons inside the tavern. Thorn checks to see if any of the patrons are carrying any weapons of significance or if Grover has any body guards near by or inside the tavern watching his back.

Thorn stepped off the Empty Lighthouse and stretched his legs before he stood on the edge of the dock in shock as he tried to take in the whole sight of Augustana. Thorn could not believe he had finally made it back to a city or port again as a free man but before Thorn could enjoy his new found freedom, a man approached the Empty Lighthouse. Thorn continued to stand and listens to Bejman Clarke as he gave his speech offering them a helping hand. Thorn could feel he did not trust this man but said to himself "Have I been caged up and kept away from civilization so long as to not be able to even trust a stranger offering a helping hand?" Thorn paused his thoughts as he listened to Vrunyar, Ollivor and Doran speak with Bejman. Thorn quickly told himself "If my new friends are trusting of Bejman maybe I can trust him because I have grown to trust their opinions. Time to jump back into the thick of it and get your life back, you still have much to accomplish." Once the rest of the crew had asked Bejman for help, Thorn walked up to Bejman and cleared his throat, "Could you point me into the direction of the best armorer in the city please!" Thorn listened to Bejman as he gave him very specific directions, to the Enchanted Forge, owned by an unlikely married couple of a master dwarf black smith and an elven enchantress who gave the masterwork pieces magical properties and enchantments. Thorn could not believe what he heard from Bejman but did not waste any time to see the master work and the unlikely couple.
Thorn soon found the shop and thought to himself Bejman had been true to his word for now and Thorn entered the shop cautiously. As soon as Thorn entered the shop a loud long bell toned out of thin air. Thorn took a sudden step back as to make a quick exit but a thin female elf stepped out to greet him graciously and with a slight bow. Thorn scanned the elf for weapons but only found a finely dressed elf with an intoxicating and wonderful smell of perfume swirling around her. "Welcome to the Enchanted Forge" the elf said in a soft and calming voice. "What brings you in today and how may I help you?" Thorn quickly scanned the shop before saying "I was told by Bejman Clarke that you and your husband have the finest armor in the city and the best quality, is that true?" The female elf stood up straight and with a small grin said "Aha yes, Bejman does speak highly of us and he is a good friend. I do not like to boast about my husbands work the way he and Bejman do but I can promise you will be completely satisfied by the time you leave the shop." Thorn began to walk slowly around the shop and admire all of the masterwork quality armor as the female elf followed slowly behind him momentarily before saying "Please take your time to look at our work and if you need any help, I am Gwynnestra." Thorn quickly realized he was being rude and turned to face Gwynnestra and said "Thank you, I will let you know when I have found something to my liking."
Thorn continued to walk through the shop and took in all of the different items they had for sell. As Thorn neared the back of the shop he could hear the stead beating of a hammer to anvil. Thorn being curious peaked his head into the back room and saw a dark room with even more rare pieces of armor but he did not see a dwarf hammering away on an anvil. The room was small and only had a few pieces but a shirt hung from the wall as it some how managed to radiate light as if the sun was bouncing off of it metallic sheen. Thorn walked over and felt on the material and recognized immediately that this was a Mithral shirt. Thorn turned to yell out for Gwynnestra's help but she was already there to say "Aha a wonderful choice, you have exceptional taste!" Thorn was still glammered by its glowing light and asked "How much are you asking for it." Gwynnestra stated in a slow, soft and confident voice "Its hard to put a price on such wonderful things but because we must make a living we are selling it for 3000 gold pieces." Thorn took a step back into the wall with sticker shock. As he hit the wall, a bracer fell from the shelf above his head and struck him on the head. Thorn rubbed his head as he bent down to pick up the bracer.
A flicker of gold shined from the bracer and he took back into the front of the store to get a better look at the bracer. Thorn was suddenly mesmerized at the golden falcons embroidered into the leather. Thorn could not explain it but he just new deep down in his heart that he must purchase these bracers no matter what. "How much for these" Thorn asked with eagerness in his voice. "Aha, A hunter you must be to feel the calling of these bracers. They will give you the sight of a Falcon and a ranged strike as deadly as their talons. I will sell you these for 4000 gold pieces."
Suddenly a dwarf came walking into the front of the shop from the same room they had just left. Thorn in disbelief stared rudely at the dwarf. "Aye laddy, you look as if you just saw a ghoast!" quickley followed by a loud roar of laughter. The dwarf was covered in sweat and dark soot. "The name is Drak, I am the other half of this enterprise. I see you have met my wife Gwynnestra, I am sure she has been more than helpful to you. How can we help you today?" The dwarf stared at Thorn for a few seconds before saying "Whats wrong with son, you got something wrong with ya or are you slow?". Thorn soon realized he was still staring at the back room in amazement. It must be some kind of spell she cast to keep him hidden from his sight but he did not have time to figure it out. Thorn quickly spoke up "Sorry, Sorry, I don't know what came over me, I must have dazed off a bit. Nevermind that, I was interested in purchasing some of your wares and these bracers have really caught my eye as well as the Mithral Shirt in the back room you just came out of." Drak looked at the bracers and then walked back into the room and brought out the Mithral shirt. "Well you sure have good taste in deed, I am sure my wife gave you our prices and she is the boss when it comes to things like that." Thorn nodded his head slowly and then said "Yes, she did tell me the prices and unfortunately I can only afford one or the other which is a shame because I really like them both. I only have 6000 gold pieces and the combine cost she gave me was 7000. I will have to ask Bejman for more help it seems."
Drak cut Thorn off quickly "Bejman, did you say? Did Bejman send you to my shop? Well why didn't you say so. That Bejman is a true friend and he only sends the best customers our way. I tell you what because you are a friend of Bejman, you are a friend of mine. Today is your lucky day my young elf i will take you gold and you can take both pieces." Thorn could not believe what he had just heard and quickly said "Thank you Drak, and thank you Gwynnestra, I will tell the rest of my ship about your kindness and your wares." Thorn threw on his new armor before throwing his bag of gold coins over the Drak's and shook both Drak's and Gwynnestra's hand. Thorn returned to the Empty Lighthouse with a smile on his face and could not help to think I hope everyone else was as fortunate as me and Bejman was able to help them as he helped me.
I purchased the Bracers of Falcon's Aim and a magical +1 Mithral Shirt

Before
Thorn has kept to himself for most of the journey, trying to figure out the meaning of his dream and experimenting with his new found powers that showed up shortly after his dream. Thorns powers first appeared to him like his dream, while deep in sleep.
In the early hours of the morning, deep in sleep, Thorn was suddenly awoken by a steady downpour of rain. Thorn jumped out of his cot believing the ship had sprung a leak but he was in total shock to realize it was falling rain. "what is bloody hell is going on" Thorn said as he now realized the rain was following him through the lower cabin and only falling in his head while everyone else was sound a sleep non the wiser. Thorn started to get angry and his rage was starting to boil in his head as he thought someone was playing a trick on him but the angrier he got the rain started to fall harder. Suddenly it clicked, and Thorn closed his eyes to try and calm himself. He had just realized he was the cause of the rain and was controlling it. Thorn slowed his heart rate and the rain slowed along with his heart rate and then stopped. Pimric a freed slave woke up to see Thorn Drenched in water and asked " Hey Thorn, Whatch ya do, Go for a midnight swim?" Thorn let out a laugh before saying "Yea, I guess I did." Thorn soon realized he could use the water as a weapon and would point at different objects and force a cone of cold air and ice from his finger tip at the desired object. Unfortunately the object received minimal damage. Thorn thought if he kept practicing with this new ability he may be able to use it in a fight to hurt his opponent or at least distract him or make him feel uncomfortable.
Over the next few day of sailing Thorn practiced controlling the rain until he could make it rain were ever he wanted and even began to have fun with it by making it rain briefly on random shifts of watch up in the crows nest. Thorn had also learned to control the cone of cold air and ice into a more focused cone shape. Thorn soon realized he could manipulate the rain droplets into really fine droplets of water and into an obscuring mist. Thorn soon discovered the mist could be very useful in a pinch and used it to hide himself down below the deck. Thorn also took advantage of the crews fear of a ghost ship following them from the mists and would hide out in the cargo holds after filling the cargo hold with mist and hiding in the mist.
Thorn soon realized his talents did not only deal with water. thorn found out he could identify magic and learned of this ability when one evening Captain Doran lent Thorn his magical plus one magical dagger. Thorn began to examine the blade and admired the craftsmanship that it began to slightly glow and Thorn some how knew deep down inside his mind that the dagger was magical.
Now
Thorn stayed below the deck in his cot as the marines began to search the area around him for anything and everything. Thorn maintained his silence and continued to swing in his cot as the marines pushed on. Once the marines left he jumped out of his cot and began to follow the marines around from a distance and out of sight as they searched the ship. Thorn thought this would be a good idea to see where they looked now in case they need to hide something later on. As Thorn followed the marines he spotted Aaron standing just out of sight from the marines probably doing the same as him he thought. Thorn turned his attention back on the marines once he heard a marine mention the i]Hellsmouth had disappeared. This was news to Thorn he had a debt to repay the Captain of that ship and he would not let someone else steal his revenge. Thorn waited for more information to spill out of the mariens mouthes but they said no more.

Traveling toward Tidewater Rock while sailing on the Empty Lighthouse
Thorn was resting in his hanging cot that was strung up between two support columns in the lower deck of the ship. The hammock slowly swung back and forth as the ship rose and fell with the coming waves. The slow methodical sway caused Thorn to drift off into a slumber. Thorn was still recuperating from his last battle to regain the Empty Lighthouse.....
Thorn now found himself standing in a rich green forest looking upon a village. Thorn followed the clearly marked path leading into the village. The path was well traveled and had been maintained to keep the path from becoming over grown. As Thorn reached the entrance to the village it appeared to Thorn that the village had been abandoned. Thorn continued to follow the path to the center of the village where he found a large pile of brunt wood. Thorn could see the village was located on top of a steep cliff over- looking the sea. Thorn could hear waves from the sea crashing into the base of the cliff and he could smell the strong sea air. Just as Thorn closed his eyes to enjoy the peace and calm of the sea and large explosion erupted behind Thorn. Thorn quickly turned to face the oncoming danger to see the old pile of burnt wood was not a raging inferno of unnatural flames rising high into the air. Thorn stepped back a few pace and used his hand to shield his face from the heat radiating from the fire. Just as fast as the fire erupted, it was now burning normally and small embers were slowly rising from the flames. Thorn still unsure and cautious began to slowly walk closer to the fire as if something was drawing him closer.
Thorn could feel the pull of an unknown source pulling him in closer and as he continued to look into the low burning flames, Thorn was being mesmerized by their steady dance and flicking. More and more embers began to rise and swirl around the fire faster and faster. Thorn wanted to run but he was frozen and could not move. The embers began to collide with each other until they all flashed at the same time temporarily blinding Thorn. The flash caused Thorn to rub his eyes until they regained focus. Thorn blinked a couple of time as if he was seeing things that could not be. Thorn was now looking at an elder male elf who was standing stoically in the fire but unaffected by the flames. "Welcome, Hithaerdir" Thorn stood silent and began to look around the fire and then behind his back as if someone had just arrived. Thorn looked back at the elder elf and responded "Who is Hithaerdir?" The elder elf smirked momentarily before answering as he looked Thorn from head to toe "You are Hithaerdir and you are my son" Thorn took a step back not knowing how to take the news and the yelled out "You're not my father, My father is DEAD! My father was Captain Kabev Sydergaard and I do not know what kind of sorcery this is but I will not let you try and steal his mantle!" The elder elf's smirk turned into a grin before saying "I am Calaeron, and you are my SON!" The elder elf then pointed his finger at Thorn and a bright flash of light streaked from his finger tip like a lightning bolt.
Thorn tried to raise his arms up to defend against the flash of light but it was too late, all of a sudden the village was now full of elf men, women and children running throughout the village in panic. The village huts and buildings were on set a blaze by fire and several Ulfen raider were seen looting, burning and killing the village elves. Thorn then quickly recognized a younger version of his father Kabev Syndergaard commanding a few Ulfen raiders before walking into a large hut at the edge of the village just on the cliff side edge. A loud piercing scream rang out for the large hut moments after Kabev entered the hut. Kabev soon exited out of the large hut with a female elf hanging from his right arm. Thorn could see Kabev was holding an infant male elf who was swaddled in silk blankets in his other arm. Thorn watched as the female elf began to scratch and claw at Kabev, soon cutting him on the cheek. The pain caused Kabev to throw the female elf from his arm and onto the ground. The female elf laid crumpled on the ground crying hysterically as tears ran down her face. Kabev drew his sword with his now free hand and raised it across his chest just above his shoulder. The female elf raised her head to look at her child one last time before the sword sliced through her throat from Kabev's crossing back hand strike. The blood flowed freely from the female elf's neck and quickly began to cover the ground beneath her.
A male elf came running up the pathway towards Kabev, carrying a large familiar Elven Curved Blade raised high above his head. Thorn now recognized the Elven Curved Blade as his very own and Thorn also recognized his bow now slung across the male elf's back. Thorn was now very confused and disbelieving of what he was watching. The male elf was now recognizable to Thorn as the same elf who is standing in the fire, "I believe he said his name was Calaeron" Thorn thought to himself. Calaeron unleashed a wild fury of attacks toward Kabev who was able to counter each strike using his sword but just barely . Just as the Kabev began to give ground to the oncoming barrage of attacks from Calaeron, Kabev held up the infant elf to use as a shield. Calaeron diverted his last attack just in time to avoid striking the infant elf. The diverted attack was costly and allowed an brief opening for Kabev to plunge his sword deep into Calaeron's chest. Kabev released his grip on his sword, choosing to leave the sword buried deep inside Calaeron's chest. Calaeron stood defiantly gasping for air while never taking his eyes off of the infant elf. Kabev walked up to Calaeron and removed the long bow from his back and then reached down to pick up the Elven Curved Blade from the ground. Kabev looked into Calaeron's face before saying "I am sorry you were not strong enough to protect your son but now I will raise him as my own and make sure he is strong enough to protect his family" Calaeron raised his hand toward Kabev and brilliant streaks of blue and white flames spewed from his finger tip striking the infant elf. Kabev quickly reacted to the perceived attack by kicking the hilt of the sword deeper into Calaeron's chest and knocking him on his back. Kabev watched as Calaeron's eyes glassed over before looking down at the infant elf who was now knocked out and unconscious.
Calaeron spoke from the direction of the fire pit"You see Thorn Syndergaard, you are really Hithaerdir, my only son. You were taken from your mother and I on the day you were born. On the morning of your birth, the sea mist rolled in thicker than we have ever seen before. Your mother believed it was a sign from the sea blessing your birth. She decided to name you Hithaerdir which means "sea mist". It was a fitting name but unfortunately the thick sea mist was also what allowed the Ulfen raiders to reach our shores unseen and too destroy our village." Thorn stood in shock as he listened to the elder elf speak. "Could this really be true" Thorn thought to himself. "You have grown into a strong man similar to the man who raised you, but there is more inside of you than you realize. You come from a long line of elves who could draw upon a rich magic that flows within our bloodline. Allow me to awaken you to this gift I once tried to bestow upon you before my demise. " Calaeron raised both of his hands towards Thorn and again brilliant streaks of blue and white flames spewed from his finger tips and struck Thorn in his chest.......
Thorn fell out of his hanging cot and hit the deck of the ship. Vrunyar had flipped over Thorn's cot to wake Thorn from his slumber. Vrunyar appeared to be in a very excited state and asked Thorn to shot him with Thorn's bow and arrows. Thorn still in shock and confused was much obliged to honor Vrunyar's request.
Arriving at Tidewater Rock and Dinner with the Lady Smythee
Thorn stood back from the rest of the senior crew upon arrival as to blend in as just one of the crew. Once Thorn realized all was good with Sergeant-at-arms Royster McCleagh, he followed the rest of the senior crew into the island fortress.

Thorn stood quiet and perplexed as the cheers roared up around him in celebration at the completion of the voting.
The Empty Lighthouse, what an odd name for a ship Thorn thought to himself as the halflings rushed Doran.
A lighthouse is very helpful to lost and weary travelers who may be in need of help or a beacon to guide them to safer waters or even to find solid footing on land.
Thorn thought longer on how the ship was acting like a Lighthouse for him at this moment. Feeling lost and confused at the moment Thorn thinks how meeting the crew of the Empty Lighthouse Doran, John, Vrunyar, and Olliver has helped him to find a path to regaining who he once was before being cast into slavery. Thorn could see that even before they took back there ship the crew of the Empty lighthouse had helped to guide himself and now Aaron back to safer, free waters. Thorn knew he had a good thing and liked where his life was now heading.
I just have to figure out why it has to be an empty light house. Thorn shook his head and grabbed his tankard and raised it about chest high to touch Doran's raised mug for the Captain's toast. "To the Brave!" he yells out following Olli's lead with "In the long run, men hit only what they aim at. Therefore, they had better aim at something high."

Thorn continued to lean his back against the wall of the cabin but now picking and cleaning under his finger nails. Once Aaron began his story Thorn stopped and crossed his arms and gave his attention to Aaron as he continued on with his story. Once Aaron started to grin Thorn got the feeling something was up but he could not figure it out. Thorn knew Aaron kept to himself and was a very mysterious person, but Thorn liked this about Aaron partly because it reminded him of himself in a way and he could some how relate with him.
"This guy has something up his sleeve, I just can't put my finger on it. A little more time hanging around with him and I will figure it out sooner or later."
Just as Thorn finished his thought Aaron revealed his big secret. Thorn sprung from the wall into a defensive stance out of instinct as did some of his crew mates.
"Bloody Hell" Thorn called out before regaining his composure "He was not hiding it up his sleeves at all, he was hiding them in his mouth this whole time. How did I miss them before, Oh well, I guess I don't have to worry about figuring it out anymore. I sure was not expecting that."
The new discovery was a bit of a shock and surprising to Thorn but for some strange reason he was not afraid or scared of Aaron. It was more of the opposite he was now even more curious of Aaron because he was older than him. It was not very often that Thorn ran in to some one that was his elder.
Thorn stood in deep thought and in some what awe as the rest of the crew attempted to take in the new information. Aaron continued with his story and gave more information about himself. He even answered Thorn's question from earlier in the day up in the crows nest. Thorn gave Aaron an understanding head nod and a brief grin acknowledging the shrug of the shoulders given by Aaron.
"Thanks for not giving into my desire for a pick me up, That could have turned out bad."
Thorn quickly went on with a few questions for Aaron.
"I was raised in the great city of Halgrim by my father, Captain Kabev Syndergaard, of the Ulfen people. I have heard many camp fire stories about vampires on our raids. I know you said you are only half vampire and you are the first of any vampire I have ever met. In our stories we were told many interesting myths like the sunlight causes a vampire's flesh to burst into fire. I stood with you up in the crows nest all day with the sun beating down on our backs, How is it that you did not burn in the sunlight or the half of you that is vampire did not burn? I guess to make it easier, how many of the myths are true and which of the myths are false?

Thorn reaches for the sky, extending both of his hands high above his head and stretching all of the knots and sore muscles until they slowly ease and relax. He then brings his legs in together before bending down to grab his ankles from behind with both hands and pulls his head down towards his knees continuing to stretch his lower back and legs. He quickly jumps up and down a couple of times while shaking out both of his arms and legs before making his way to the lower quarters to grab a few hours of shut eye. On his way to the stairs he hears Doran call out to him, asking for a moment of his time. "Aye, Aye Captain! I'll be right there."
Thorn heard Doran order one of the swabs to fetch Vrunyar and Ollivor. The swab ran past Thorn as he walked towards the Captains cabin. Thorn followed Doran into the cabin and could see John and Aaron already waiting inside. Knowing the speed the swab was running past him at, he knew he would not have to wait long for the others to arrive and then find out what this meeting is all about. Looks like Captain Doran and Captain John have been charting out the maps and possibly have news on the best route or maybe they decided on a new destination, Who knows, I do know it better to not worry over the unknown and wait for the new to be delivered, good or bad. "Good Evening Captain Doran, Captain John and to you Aaron" Thorn gave each man a slight nod of his head for each greeting before waiting against the wall for the others to join the meeting.

With the waning light of day fading off in the horizon, Thorn continued his watch from the crows nest with Aaron at his back. Scanning the horizon intently while looking for on coming danger, he could not help but return his gaze upon the bright ball of light slowly disappearing from his view. The sparkles of light danced across the tops of cresting waves and mesmerized Thorn with its calm and beauty. The peace and calm that set in over Thorn caused him to reminisce upon his final night before the raid on the Arch of Aroden.
Realizing this was a similar view from aboard the family Syndergaard longboat while standing side by side with his nephew Espen as he fell back into his memory of them. He remembers they had just finished their dinner of fire roasted turkey legs, fresh rye bread and a spicy red wine. They both took pause from their conversation to admire the beauty of the sunset on the eve of the upcoming battle. Espen broke the silence
"Thorn, I want to thank you for all that you have done for me and my family. I know it has been a great sacrifice for you to witness the deaths of my great grandfather, my grandfather and my father. I pray that you will not have to bare witness to the fall of another son of Syndergaard."
Espen looked down into his cup of wine momentarily before taking as sip.
"I know the last thing you wanted to do was train me in the ways of battle....."
Thorn interrupted quickly "Espen, it has been my honor to train you in the ways of the Ulfen as my father, your great grandfather taught it to me. I could never deny you your blood right to take up the sword as so many Syndergaards before you."
Both men stood staring out across the water watching as the sun set into the sea. They both stood quietly and peacefully, rising and falling with their ship resting on top of the waves. The light of the sun slowly gave way to the light of the moon and fire light glowing on the decks of several ships surrounding them. Espen finished his wine and stared into his empty glass with a perplexed look on his face. Even with his enhanced elven vision Thorn did not need to see the concern on Espen's face, as he could hear it in his voice.
"Thorn...I have no children to pass on the Syndergaard name...If I should fall tomorrow in battle...I want you to head the Syndergaard family name and carry it on as your father would have. With the family name comes the vast family fortune that was left to me by my father and I leave it to you. I have spoken with King Ester and seen to all the necessary steps for my wishes to be met should I fall tomorrow."
A long pause took place as Thorn remained silent to allow all of the information he had just received to set in before giving a response. Swirling the left over red wine in his glass, Thorn watched as the red liquid rose to the lip of the glass and fell back to the bottom of the glass a couple of times before saying...
"Espen, you need not worry about falling in battle tomorrow. I promised your father on his death bed that I would look after you and I would die before I let anything happen to you.... You should not think on negative thoughts for they can cause you to doubt yourself in combat and lead you to hesitate. You should be thinking about celebrating with King Ester and sharing in her victory over the Arch of Aroden. You and I will celebrate with more of this spiced red wine and share camp fire stories that you will one day tell to your grandchildren."
Thorn emptied his glass of wine and turned to face Espen.
"I will be at your side through out the whole battle tomorrow. All I ask of you is to remember your training and do not let your emotions get the better of you. If you follow these instructions you will prevail from this battle and you will add to the many legends of the Syndergaard family legacy."
Espen turned to Thorn and grabbed him by the shoulder before pulling Thorn in for a large hug with a couple of pats on the back.
Thorn, You are right, we have nothing to worry about except who is going to finish the last of this bottle of spice red wine....
Thorn felt the tap on the shoulder from Aaron and Thorn quickly snapped back to reality and realized where he was again. He turned to see that Aaron was letting him know that there shift on the crows nest had come to an end. Thorn acknowledged with a nod of his head towards Aaron, who took his leave from the crows nest and began to make his way back down to the deck. Thorn turned back to see the sun had already slipped past the horizon but the faint glow of magnificent shades of pinks and oranges were still radiating up into a purple, blue to black starry night sky.
Thorn knew his actions could have been costly but fortunately for him, Erastil was helping him to keep watch for him. Thorn began to scold himself after allowing his attention to be distracted "I should have been watching the Horizon for The Wormwood, but I let myself get lazy and I was to busy day dreaming. Damn fool, I could have put the whole crew in danger by being careless. Thank Erasil, for his keen sight and looking out for me and my crew"
Thorn looked down and could see Aaron had made it to the deck and was heading towards the Captains. Thorn spotted two of the newly freed halfling resting on a crate near the railings and he called down to them "Ahoy, You two down there, heads up! Do you mind making your ways up to the crows nest? We sure could use a couple fresh sets of eyes to look after the crew fro the night or until the Captain's finds you your relief."
The two quickly jumped to their feet and made their ways up to the crows nest with excitement in their eyes. If Thorn did not know any better he would have guessed they had been waiting all day to see the view from atop the crows nest. Once each of the halflings were set in place and Thorn had instructed them on what to do, Thorn thanked them before heading down to the deck for much needed rest.

Still recovering from his rage induced exhaustion, Thorn scans the 180 degrees of the horizon in front of him intently for any signs of oncoming ships as Aaron stands at his back doing the same in the opposite direction from him. Thorn has not been able to make out any ships as they make their way around the island steer close to the shore and looking for the wreckage of the Man's Promise.
Once they catch sight of the wreckage and the disguised make shift camp, Captain Doran runs the Empty Lighthouse ashore and the rest of the crew to make haste. As the rest of the crew begins to take what they can from the camp and board the ship, Thorn continues to scan the Horizon with an anxious feeling twisting in his stomach. The thought of Harrigan and The Wormwood just out of sight causes a noticeable fear and unrest amongst the crew.
Thorn over hears Vrunyar offer up some blade sharpening from the crows nest. Thorn removes the master worked scimitar from his belt strap and drops it down from the crows nest. The blade falls true and the weight of the weapon cases the blade to stick in the deck upright. "AHOY, HEADS UP VRUNYAR, Ya mind cutting a fresh edge on this here old weed whacker. I think the moisture from the river and all of them trees I hacked in the jungle might have taken a little of its bite out of it. Once your done, feel free to give it to any one of the new crew members who you see fit to wield its master worked blade"
Thorn turns back to his portion of the horizon and begins to scan but asks Aaron "So whats your story mate, You look as pale as I feel and you are not accepting of any of our healing. Yet, you drink your mystery potions which seem to give you a quick pick me up. Mind if I give one of your little vials a go, I sure could use a little pick me up right now."

Thorn sat with his back against the mast as the Captain and crew of the Bonadventure boarded their ship. He could feel the muscles in his entire body still twitching uncontrollably as they were totally spent and he was going through muscle exhaustion, and still trying to settle his rage. Thorn listened to the Captains as they talked and stood instantly as Rickety Hales name came up. "That dirty old bastard just barely escaped with his fat little head. My arrows have tasted his blood and the next time I catch up with him, he will not be so lucky"
Thorn uses the mast for support as he uses his other hand to retrieve the vial from his belt pouch and hand it to Vrunyar. "Thank you Vrunyar"

Thorn gives Doran a single nod of the head and says "No, Arrows! Got it." Thorn turns from Doran and walks back over to the cleaved and punctured body of Rommen. Thorn kneels down over the body and begins to search his corpse for anything useful. "A spell caster such as you must have something of great value or at the very least helpful to the group." Thorn tells himself as he begins to search Rommen's entire body for treasure, weapons, or any useful information starting with the pockets and even working his way down to removing his boots.

Thorn walks slowly and cautiously towards Rommen's fallen body. He pauses briefly before stepping on the man's giant deformed body. Thorn reaches down slowly and rips his arrows out one by one. Thorn watched the blood slowly gather at the tip of the last arrow head as he held it out to examine the shaft for any damage. The blood droplet finally fell back to Rommen's chest after gravity and the weight of the blood droplet released its hold of the arrow head. Thorn turned to prepare himself for the on coming Bonadventure by stepping off of Rommen's body and resting against one of the masts. Thorn tries to calm himself down by taking deep slow breaths to allow the rage to slowly slip away and his tense muscles to relax. The exhaustion begins to set in quickly for Thorn but he calls out to Doran and John "I can shoot a letter written by either one of you while attached to one of my arrows. I will aim for their mast of course, but its just in case they do not see our white flag of truce."

Thorn watched as the rest of the party quickly joined the fight just mere moments after his first volley of arrows struck home. The arrows were successful in causing damage but not enough to slow down or even lessen Rommen's wild strikes. Judging by the pain and anguish on John and Vrunyar's faces, Rommen was not pulling his punches. "Rommen has to be stopped now before he pummels us into puddles of slop". Thorn yelled out "BRING HIM DOWN!" Thorn grabbed another two arrows from his quiver, knocked them together on the bow string with the thought of the two arrows striking the same area together and causing a larger wound and cause more bleeding. Thorn fired them simultaneously at Rommen while aiming for the center of his chest. The arrows flew true and they both landed together at the same time in Rommen's sternum causing a nastier and larger wound. The blood was streaming from Rommen's newly acquired wound and the two arrow heads grinding together had to be causing Rommen great pain.

Thorn feeling fully refreshed grabs the flask from Vrunyar and attaches it to his belt for latter just in case anyone in the party needs a quick heal or "Erastil forbid I need a quick heal in a pinch. Doran follows Vrunyars lead and begins to heal the party as fast as possible. Once he reaches Thorn he uses the wand several times to mend Thorn's wounds and get him back to normal or as close as possible. "Thank you Doran, I was starting to get a little light headed there but all is good now. Lets go get that ship!"
As the party makes there way to the ship, Thorn looks down at his blood covered clothing, "I will kill that old man for ruining my shirt!" Thorn thought to himself, Its your own damn fault for trying to shots with a crazy old musket wielding slave driver, next time find cover instead of standing there like a fool. Thorn lifts his shirt and rubs over his stomach that is mended like new excepts for a solid and hard lump bulging slightly from his stomach. I will have to have Vrunyar use his medical knowledge to cut this bullet out of me once we get our ship back and sailing away from this cursed camp.
The party all make it to the ship just as the pirates are trying to pull up the gangplank. Thorn expediently releases an arrow from his bow to kill one of two guards lifting the gangplank. A clean swift shot in the right eye sends the pirate beneath the docs. The extra weight on the second pirate slows his progress down to allow John to cut him down. The party rushes up the gangplank to board the ship and surround Rommen.
Once on the ship Rommen challenges the party just before using magic to enhance his size. Thorn watched as Rommen grew to new heights and size just before striking down one of the newly freed halfling slaves. Thorn still raging from the battle with Rickety yells "YOU'll PAY FOR THAT" as he draws two arrows from his quiver and fires them at each shoulder trying to slow down Rommen's attacks and maybe take a little pop out his strikes. The two arrow both find their marks by embedding themselves deep on either side of Rommen's chest at the shoulders joints.

Thorn watched Rickety yelled hollow threats over his shoulder directed to Thorn as he made an escape. The arrows he planted in Rickety's chest caused the old man a great deal of pain and discomfort but he was still able to flee fast enough to make it a challenge to follow. Thorn quickly decided escape was not an option and Rickety must die for his transgressions "DAMN, He shot me in the back! Thorn yelled out after Rickety."COME BACK HERE YOU COWARD, TODAY YOU DIE!" The rage burning inside of Thorn, demanding for vengeance against Rickety, blinded Thorn to the oncoming attack made by Guard #1. The guard's cutlas sliced through his thigh, disabling Thorn for the moment as the guard too fled after landing a cowardly attack. Thorn Yelled out in pain once more as his leg opened up like a fountain and raging river of blood ran down his leg. Thorn's rage would not let him think about the pain, he was ready to kill. Hopping on his one good leg at a considerably slower speed, Thorn was able to reach the end of the wooden shack just in time to see Guard#1 providing cover for Markis as they made their escape like Rickety. Thorn clenched his bow in his left hand as he held the corner of the wall for support with his right. Thorns face turned a deep shade of maroon as he stood, grinding his teeth and casting a deadly stare of pure anger as he watched another coward who took a cheap shot, caused him pain and ran away.

Hey Barcus, My AC was 20 the last time Guard#1 attacked with his cutlass , Guard#2 fell and I lost crowd control which causes it to drop by 1 down to 19. The last attack would be a miss, or am I adding something wrong again. If the attack is good, then the 5 damage would put Thorn at -2

Blinded by the pain searing hot pain of the bullet ripping through his guts. Thorn yells out in a furious roar Today is a good day to die... before coughing out a massive amount of blood from his mouth covering his chin and running down his chest. Thorn gives Rickety a terrifying gaze just before revealing a wicked grin from his blood covered mouth.
The first guard had swung for Thorn's head yet again trying to finish the weakened elf but just like the first attempt this one swung empty as well. The second guard standing behind Thorn while engaged with John took the opportunity to slice wildly at Thorn as he drew his first arrow. The second guard was successful and landed a strike to Thorn's right forearm used to draw the bow string back. The fresh new cut caused Thorn to release the arrow prematurely sending the arrow skipping across the ground before he could ever take aim at his target. Thorn's vision began to blur in and out of focus as he could feel the blood flowing freely from his body.
In his failed attempt to use his weapon properly, Thorn's rage boiled out of control and he dug deep inside his will to call out to Erastil, "Give me the strength to overcome my foe and may my arrows fly true!" Thorn grabbed two arrows from his quiver and knocked them both as he used all his might to draw the bow string as fast and as far back as possible. Thorn stood tall while concentrating intensely on the colorful feathers of the arrow still protruding out of Rickety's shoulder. Once Thorn was in the void of concentration and all he could see was the arrows end he let the arrows fly. Thorn repeated the delivery almost exactly the same as the first time only this time the two arrows zipped through the air and buried themselves almost exactly on top of the already protruding arrow. Thorn could now see all three identical arrows touching as they had buried themselves deep inside Rickety's shoulder and chest. Thorn yelled out to Rickety as he collapsed "I may fall here today but not before I take you with me!"

Thorn felt the burning pain before he heard the sound from the musket as the bullet ripped through his skin. The pain sent Thorn into a white hot rage of fury as he turned in a snap to see that old man Rickety had fired the shot. Thorn yelled out YOU DAMN DIRTY OLD MAN, YOU WILL DIE FOR THAT YOU MEDDLING FOOL! just as he dodged out of the way of the wild oncoming attacks from Rickety's over excited guards. Thorn quickly drew two arrows from his quiver and let them fly expediently one after the other in the direction of Rickety before he could reload his musket. As the second horn sounded off from the watch tower, Thorn could hear an all to familiar sound in the faint distance. Three rapid thumps followed by a fast whistling through the air and ending with another three Thumps as the crossbow bolt and two arrows find their marks to silence the guard in the watch tower. Thorn held his knocked arrow at the ready as he quickly scanned to see where the arrows came and from who.

As Thorn peered out across the docks, he could see their target ship, The Empty Lighthouse I believe is what they called it and another ship with a familiar appearance he could not put his finger on as it made its way to the docks next to The Empty Lighthouse. The last words yelled out by the watch tower guard just before he met his demise still hummed in his head as he knew the name. The Bonadventure, The Bonadventure, where have I heard that name before and all of a sudden it was like a spark igniting on a stack of dry straw, Thorn remembered all the stories the other slaves told as he spent several hours manning an ore on The Hellsmouth. Thorn began to quickly review the conversations in his head The Bonadventure is a famous Andoran privateer led by Merrill Tantrey, a former captain of the elite Gray Cosairs fleet. Captain Tantrey reportedly had a falling-out with the leadership of the fleet following the death of his first mate, resigning his commission by stealing the ship that he commanded. He now acts as a privateer in the Shackles and Inner Sea, attacking pirates and freeing slaves wherever he can. Thorn quickly yelled to Vrunyar and John "Well it looks like the gods favor us today, It's Captain Tantrey of The Bonadventure and they are here to free the slaves like us! Lets give them a helping hand and then get our ship, The Empty Lighthouse you called it, right?"

Thorn rushed up the river bank towards the group after watching the Naga drop lifelessly into the water. John appeared to be a little unsteady, slurring his speech and making odd comments about the taste of mint and iron. Thorn starred at John, perplexed and unfamiliar with his current condition. Doran began to check on Johns wound when he called for Vrunyar's help to aid John. Thorn knew he would be no help with healing Johns condition so he began to survey the surrounding area for any other signs of danger or unexpected encounters as Vrunyar began his triage on John.
As Thorn was making his patrol around the group, he gathered as many of his arrows from the river bank as he could find. Shortly after he began his patrol he was asked about his status and he called back "I think I need my eyes checked after missing my target so many times, but other than that I am good."

After watching his first two shots miss their mark, Thorn grabbed for two arrows at once. The quick bursts of speed and agility of the the Water Naga have made for a very difficult target. Thorn figured firing two consecutive shots may increase his chances of landing a mark. Just as Thorn drew back the bow string and took aim, he heard a deafening scream call out in agony as John had just drove his Ax into the Naga's scales. The shrill noise caused Thorn to wince just as he released his arrow's towards the wailing serpent. The arrows began to separate immediately after leaving the bow string and they both split further away from each other during their flight. The arrow's flew past their mark on both sides of the Naga and buried themselves in the muddy river bank acting as a back stop just behind the Naga, John and Aaron. Thorn roared out in anger after he had missed his mark yet again. The Anger increased his rage till he was bright red in the face and yell out "DAMN YOU BLOODY WATER SERPENT! May Erastil show me the way to strike you down."

Thorn watches as the Water Naga begins to chant an unfamiliar sound and the words are unknown to him. Suddenly three replica Water Naga's appear around the original and dive under the waters surface. Damn bloody serpents, always using tricks to confuse the mind and their poison to kill. Thorn steps back a few paces along the river bank to try and give himself some more time to react to the submerged Naga's attacks. Thorns yells across the river to his companions "Be on the ready! they could resurface at anytime and when they do we will let them have it."

Thorn follows the party closely with his bow and arrow ready in hand raised just out of the water as they cross the river. The loud notice called out by Aaron gets Thorns attention as he scans to his left to see the oncoming threat that Aaron pointed out. Thorn makes haste and crosses the river quickly to gain the advantage of higher ground up on the river bank. As Thorn is passing by Olliver while he helps Doran and Vrunyar to swim to the bank, Thorn thinks to himself "I have got to buy them some more time!" Thorn raises the the bow to his waist and turned sideways before fireing a supressing shot at the Naga. The Nage stops and raises up from the water and the arrow splashed about 5 feet in front of the Naga. The aim was good but the unexpected stop by the Naga cuased Thorn's timing to be just off. "Damn clever serpent! I will not make the same mistake next time."

Thorn could feel the exhaustion and fatigue in all of his muscles as he pumped the lever of the bilge. He had been rotating with John over the past three days to allow for rest and give each man a chance to breathe freely with out the assistance of a hose. It was nearly the end of Thorn's turn to work the bilge. He took his time to maintain a slow and steady pace while concentrating on his breathing. Thorn would inhale deep and slowly through the tube as he lifted the lever to the bilge. He then would exhale his remaining hair out as he presses down firmly on the lever to keep a steady pace to try and keep up with the rising water.

After about one hour since their last rotation, Thorn realized John had not come to re-leave him from his turn on the bilge. Thorn stopped his pumping of the lever and swam up towards the top deck following the hose. Once Thorn reached the top deck he could see the water was starting to spill over onto the top deck. Thorn scanned the deck to see John and Doran talking as they charted out our best path to Rickety's our next destination. While walking over to join in on their planning session Thorn over heard they trying to weigh out a couple of options.
Thorn listened to the options as they were explained, just now realizing their dire situation. The option of pushing the ship on and making it the few remaining miles sounded reasonable but what if Doran's calculations are wrong and the island is 10 to 20 miles away. The ship will not make the greater distance and that will leave a lot of swimming for the crew "a tough swim in open waters for any experienced sailor" Thorn thought to himself. Thorn then looked at the land off the horizon and thought "completing their voyage by land did not sound half bad and could be much safer as long as it was not like the blasted island they just escaped". Thorn began to think about their situation for a few moments before coming up with the idea. "Maybe we could sail the ship into the beach running her a ground. Once the ship is anchored to the land we can use Aaron's knowledge of carpentry to scrap the useful timber from this ship and build a couple of two to four man sail boats or slopes to sail the coast line until we reach Rickety's."

Thorn climbs one of the ropes hanging from the top deck. Quickly traversing the side of the ship Thorn could hear what sounded like song coming from the top deck. As Thorn climbed over the railing he could see Doran manning the helm and singing an song unfamiliar to him. Just as soon as Thorn reached the top deck he realized the noticeable lean in the ship as they were gaining speed as they distanced themselves from that dreadful island. "We're taking on to much water" Thorn said to himself. "If we don't fix some of these leaks, this could be the shortest voyage in the history of voyages." Thorn runs down to the lower decks of the ship to help with the patching of holes and draining of excess water.
Thorn reached the lower deck and stood in waist deep water looking for obvious leaks. Using his low light vision to aid his vision better Thorn could observed the flow and ripples on the top of the water to see where the water was entering the ships hull. Thorn trudged through the water to a large hole allowing the majority of the water into the ship. Thorn took in a deep breath before he submerged himself into the water to get a closer look at the hole. Thorn felt around the hole to gauge its size and shape. After a few moments of examining the whole Thorn resurfaced from the water and began to think of how to patch the hole. Thorn began to scan the area for anything helpful when he observed a round wood water bucket floating by him. Thorn grabbed the bucket and returned back to the hole. Thorn attempted to push the bucket into the hole but the force of the water entering the ship pushed bucket out of his hands. Thorn quickly chased after the bucket as it floated back to the waters surface.
Thorn began to get frustrated and angry at his failure to succeed on his first attempt. Thorn began to rage within himself thinking of the possibility of failure. Thorn snatched the bucket as it floated away and returned back to the hole. Holding his breath he roared out as he smashed the base of the bucket in to the hole. The majority of his air escaped his mouth in the form of bubbles as he roared out in anger while drove the bucket into the hole. Thorn waited for the bubbles to clear his sight and re-examined the hole, the bucket was in place blocking the majority of the hole but he decided steady rocking of the bucket did not sit easily with him. Thorn believed the bucket would wiggle free so he slammed his hands into the top edges of the bucket to wedge the bucket into place until it stopped moving. "Thank Erastil" Thorn said to himself.

Thorn walked along the ship deep in thought for several hours re-living each of the fights that had occurred in recent days. By re-creating the fights in his head Thorn is able to dissect and break them down to find flaws in his attacks and defense. Thorn was taught by his father to always review combative encounters he survived to improve on the next encounter to ensure he walks away from the next one. Thorn can faintly hear his name called out like a distant echo in his head. The second time his name was called out grabbed his attention and he turned to see Hojo pointing at he and Oliivor. Hojo began to explain her concerns about the extra weight stored on board the Mans Promise. Hojo wanted he and Ollivor to speak with both of the new captains to see what they were willing to jettison over board.
Thorn followed Ollivor to the captains cabin and watched as John and Doran stood over a large map of the Shackles trying to decide on their next destination. Ollivor began to explain Hojo's concerns to the captains as Thorn walked up to get a better look at the map before asking the captains "Where is our next destination and when do we plan to disembark on our journey?"

Thorn smirked as his arrow struck Scourge in the chest but the smirk was soon knocked from Thorn's face as Owlbear caught Thorn off guard and punched him with a heavy blow to the chest in return. The mighty blow stunned Thorn long enough for Scourge to rip Thorn's Bow from his left hand sending it flying through the air and landing near Plugg's body. The stunned look quickly turned to a face of pure rage and anger as he allowed the rage to permeate his muscle as he flexed his arms while letting out a roar. "ENOUGH SCOURGE! Time for you to join your brother in the after life.". Thorn drew his elven curve blade from its scabbard as he dashed directly at Scourge. Doran finally delivered the surprise attack to Scourge causing Scourge to turn partially away from Thorn just before Thorn slashed Scourge along his mid section to his right side opening a deep laceration in his abdomen.

Thorn watches with a since of calm as Plugg struggles to hold on to what little life he has left until the final breath escapes his body. Thorn walked up to Plugg and spit on his body in show of continued disgust of the man. Thorns had his attention quickly pulled away by the loud roar of "OWLBEAR!". Thorn looked towards Scourge and could see Aaron in a prone position and one of his swords disarmed in the sand behind him. "YOU COWARD!" soon followed from Scourge as Owlbear came rushing to his masters aid along with Doran joining Scourge by his side. Thorn watched as Aaron quickly rose to his feet only to be attacked by Scourge's whip once more. Scourge attempted to disarm Aaron's final weapon from Aaron's grasp but failed in doing so this time. Thorn dashed up the beach to get a clear shot at Scourge as he removed another arrow from his quiver. The POP of the whip reminded Thorn of his many year forced into slavery and forced to pull an oar. The anger boiled over once more as Thorn could feel the pain on his back at the sound of the whips crack. Thorn stopped and took aim raising the bow and pulling back the fletching to his right cheek. The "Thump" of his bow string was soon followed by the "Thump" of his arrow striking Scourge square in the sternum. The sound made from his bow string resonated like music in his ears.

Thorn stood a few paces back from the rest of his party as John and Plugg attempted to sway the rest of the crew to join their cause. With his long bow in hand and arrow at the ready Thorn kept a ready position waiting for the combat to begin. As Thorn continued to scan the crew he paused on Scourge momentarily before stopping his gaze on Plugg. "Coward" Thorn said to himself as he looked him over quickly for any holes in his armor. Before Thorn could react Plugg made the first move and struck John like lightning flashing across the sky. Plugg's attack struck deep before John could return the blow. Thorn raised his bow quickly as the arrows shaft meet Thorn's eye level. Vrunyar entered his line of sight swing violently at Plugg. Plugg's cat like reflexes avoided the wild attack and he returns the favor giving Vrunyar a wound to remember. Thorn aim now came to the point of the arrow head and soon focused on Plugg. Plugg's quick attack left Thorn with the opportunity and opening he was looking for.
The memory of Plugg walking along the deck of the Wormwood with a wicked smile on his face just moments after murdering Iakob flashed in his mind. Pure anger and rage boiled in Thorn as he Yelled out "PLUUUGGG, It's time you die. This is for Iakob you piece of Sh!t!" Everything in Thorn's line of sight blurred out of focus except for the carotid artery pulsing in Plugg's neck. Thorn let loose the arrow and watched as his arrow pierce through Plugg's neck leaving the arrow stuck in his neck. Thorn could see the arrow head protruding from the back of Plugg's neck and the fletching still exposed from the front of his neck. Thorn quickly released another arrow before his opening closed and struck Plugg in his upper left chest piercing his heart with the second arrow and killing Plugg instantly. Plugg's body fell back face up with one arrow protruding from his chest and the other from his neck as he laid looking up at Doran. Plugg's eyes and mouth remained wide open showing a face of shock and fear just before his death while blood began to soaked the sand red.
