"Perrine, how much of our attacks are getting through without using Alacasti weapons?"

Really enjoying all the different perspectives here and learning a lot, glad to have such an opportunity to play/learn with you all.

Discussion topic for today: What do you guys think the GM's job is? (We'll assume that this is for a Play-by-Post game to keep things simple)

To make sure that all the players at a table feel involved, feel as though they're contributing and making progress, and most importantly to have fun.

Specifically in regards to PbP, to provide Chronicle Sheets, to create the material necessary for a game (such as sheets, slides, and handouts), and to follow a Scenario or Module as closely as possible.

From a "meta" side, their job is to play enemies as accurately as possible. Never pulling punches but equally never playing an enemy as smarter than it would be. To encourage players to solve problems creatively, and when they struggle, to perhaps push them in the direction they need to go without making them feel like their hand is being held.

And finally to bring the world to life. To make the NPCs feel like real individuals, and to make players smell the oil of a ship and hear the quiet buzzing of the monitors. To immerse the players in the world and make the really feel "there."

At least that's just my take on it.

At the recommendation of our benevolent Hmm, I'm leaving this request here.

Does anyone have a spare Legacy Race Boon they aren't reluctant to part with? To be honest I find the idea of Fantasy Races in a Sci-Fi setting to be a breath of fresh air and originality to an otherwise predictable genre, and would prefer playing such a race.

I don't have much to offer in return. I have low-level Photoshop skills and could attempt to create a character image for you (you can check this character's profile to see a link to her image, though if I'm offering it as a service I'll try to put more effort in) or could offer to GM a scenario of your choice once I finish attending GM Redelia's GM School. I unfortunately don't have any boons of my own to offer. I don't forget a kindness though, and if I do ever get a boon I'd be happy to give it in return down the line if it's something you'd be interested in.

Thanks all, and have a great weekend.

Amelia smiles throughout the dinner, clearly enjoying the food and drink. "Is this a mission or a vacation? I'm eating better here than I ever have!" Despite her clear enjoyment for the food, she still pays close attention to the briefing the Captain gives, but grins sheepishly when he talks with Lovissa.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

When the Captain departs, she leans over and whispers to Lovissa. "You're a real maneater, seducing the clothes off of a man the night you met him!" She gives her a playful laugh before starting to clean up her finished meal.

When the group finishes and readies to depart for the bridge, Amelia's normally happy and friendly demeanor is notably diminishing with each moment. After a few minutes away from Rosie's, she finally speaks up. "If there's even a chance we might run into trouble, I need to... change." Her voice is shaky, and she pauses. "Violence can cause me to lapse anyway, and it's a bigger problem when I'm not ready for it. Can we please wait just a minute?"

She steps aside, leaning her back against a nearby wall. Be strong Amelia, you can do this. Don't let them see you as weak. She takes three deep breaths, removes the helmet from her waist, lifts it over her head...

Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Failed. To willingly switch identities Amelia must pass Will Save DC 10 or fail and be Shaken for 1 minute.

...then whips the helmet back off, throwing it to the ground. Her arms instinctively wrap around herself in a tight hug and tears start to well up in her eyes. From behind gritted teeth she whispers a shaky "D... Dammit..."

She avoids the looks from the party as she waits until she's calmed down and then, hesitantly, tries again...

Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

This time the helm stays on, and her quiet whimpers are suddenly replaced by a cold silence.

There is no more combat to be had, apparently, just a low-stakes "Enterprise crew versus Q" sort of encounter, apparently.

That sounds awesome actually, hope I get the chance to play it. Don't spoil the fun (for anyone) by trying to rush through it so you can get your next Chronicle!

I was thinking the above would have covered it.

Maybe the sword is picky and we had to give our own names?

Amelia listens with the attention of a soldier, and when the briefing is finished she speaks up.

"Our task is to convince Earl Vernisant to return the taken relics to a museum to win favor with the museum curator, stop the attacks on Orlando Zespire's shipments, and..." Amelia gives Lady Gloriana a smile, "... see if we can uncover any criminal activity of the Earl's so that we might help Taldor move toward a more level-minded leadership. Understood, Venture-Captain. Will we be expecting any opposition on our journey to Ridonport? Anyone who may know of our arrival and intentions?"

"...A talking sword?" Magdalyn eyes the weapon with a mix of confusion and admiration. "My name is Magdalyn Varus." May as well see where this goes. She gives the talking sword a salute.

16 confirmed the crit too! well done! However please list your actions in game terms using 'ooc' tags if you must, in order for me to know how you materialized a crossbow in your hands. Thank you!

Will do from now on! If there was any confusion for that turn, the Crossbow was a Kinetic Blast. So it was a move action of 30 feet, and then a Ranged Kinetic Blast.

Magdalyn follows along with the group, failing to notice any of the details that might be along the way. I pray that the whelp is still alive...

After arriving in the ruined temple, Magdalyn takes a brief moment to admire the shrine to Sarenrae. While she did not follow the Dawnflower, she had respect for the goddess nonetheless.

The moment of admiration is short lived however when she sees the boy locked in combat with a giant beast!

"Aayef!!"

Magdalyn springs into the fray, darkness twisting into her hands as she moves. With a piercing whistle it forms in her hands a massive crystalline crossbow held in both arms. As she readies her shot she watches in horror as her Gnome ally get nearly severed in half. With a snarl on her face she pulls the "trigger," launching a blast of physical force out from the weapon and into the raging scorpion.

At first confused by the spectacle, not long into the song Magdalyn finds her foot tapping along with the beat. She catches herself smiling watching her allies enjoy themselves in song and while she doesn't join them, she laughs happily along with the show.

Through the smoke and merriment of the lodge a female newcomer enters, looking like she's a night overdue for sleep. Her hair is bedraggled and deep dark bags hang beneath her eyes, but she steps with an authority that betrays her militaristic background as she walks amongst the tables full of patrons. So these are the Pathfinders... they're certainly a rowdy bunch. Her eyes move slowly across the bar from below a stern brow as though she's sizing up the Lodge's inhabitants before finally speaking.

"Hello." When she speaks her voice is strong like a soldier's but her lips are curled into an excited, albeit awkward, smile. "My name is Magdalyn Varus, the Masters at the Grand Lodge directed me here to find work." She stands at attention, head held high as she speaks. "I've yet to work as a Pathfinder and am currently seeking allies and work for my first outing. I look forward to adventuring with you all."

She goes to sit at the nearest table, but seems to think better of it and turns, her stance more relaxed this time.

"...I must've sounded like a golem there." The woman chuckles and runs her hand through her hair, clearly nervous. "You can call me Mag, I'm a soldier with a gift." She holds out her hand and a ball of black-purple energy manifests, forming a crystalline longsword after a brief moment. She gives it a single swing before it disappears back into nothingness. "I'm a woman of skill and honor, and would be proud to call any of you Pathfinders my ally." Magdalyn takes her seat with a smile, content with her introduction this time.

Hello! This is my first ever post on Paizo after years of using the site as reference. I spent the last couple weeks reading people's sheets and maaayybe stalking some scenarios to see how it all works. I put a lot of effort into my sheet and hope it came out right!

I'm excited to get into my first game, and would love the chance to RP the way PbP really encourages. If there's any room for me in that game GM Hmm, I'd like to join as well!
