Human Channeler, 3 XP
![]() DM Sbodd - I don't see your test post in Gameplay, but I do see Burke's. Can you please check again to see if it's there? You may have been fooled into thinking that you posted, because when I try to post, the post appears, but the "editing window" stays there as if I had merely done a Preview. I'm going to contact Paizo administrators about this... ![]()
Human Channeler, 3 XP
![]() Tethys waits a few seconds for the others to speak up, and when no one does, she relates everything they discovered at the embassy, trying to follow the doctor, the twice-tossed room, and the strange box. I'm guessing no one wanted to tackle that can 'o worms in detail, so I thought I'd try this instead. After all, the GM's NPC knows everything the GM knows. :) ![]()
Human Channeler, 3 XP
![]() Tethys starts thinking out loud, to everyone : "So, presumably, there was one guy with oil on him that followed the doctor, who is associated with this box. But there's another guy that also tossed the doctor's place that we no virtually nothing about.
![]()
Human Channeler, 3 XP
![]() My (muddled) thoughts on the situation : presumably, the guy following the doctor was one of the two people who ransacked his hotel room. Was there a smell of oil in the room? Sbodd said there was blood mixed with oil, and the smell of sweat from two individuals, but no *smell* of oil. This would indicate that there's at least two other players trying to find whatever Nilasa stole. But our captives had the box, indicating that they're in league with the guy following the doctor. Finally, our captives say they sent the doctor to a safe house in the Nettles, indicating that they're in league with the doctor. Or maybe Enzo is playing the doctor, and will ambush him instead.

![]() Now knowing *what* the iron circle does, she tries to activate it : Spout Lore: 2d6 + 0 ⇒ (1, 4) + 0 = 5 But has no idea what to do. Yea! +1 XP... Honestly, I've forgotten how we got here. DM Sbodd, could you give us a recap of the salient points of the game so far, *after* we left the embassy? Thanks! ![]()
Human Channeler, 3 XP
![]() Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 6 She's now down to 15/26 HP. Sick(CON-1) disability. She comes over to the two prisoners, holding the iron thing. "Do either of you know what the purpose of this thing is? Answer quickly and honestly, as my friend here", gesturing to Burke, "can tell if you're lying, and my other friend", gesturing to Retzack, "is still hungry." ![]()
Human Channeler, 3 XP
![]() Tethys almost shouts to Black Kappa "Hey, something's going on! It feels like my water is damming the flow of the energy inside it, and I get the feeling like it will eventually burst thru my water barrier, and we do *not* want that to happen! We'd all better take a step back!" Waiting a moment for everyone near the box to do so (including herself), she immediately creates a chilly (but not freezing) breeze to blow the existing water off of the chest, hoping that by slowly removing the water there won't be an explosion of the energy that's already built up. Turning to Kappa, she says "So, now what?" XP + 1 ![]()

![]() Sbodd wrote: this one [iron circle] must have enabled...whatever it was Enzo did. I (the player) am confused - I searched the Gameplay posts, and didn't see that Enzo did anything? Regardless, is it something Tethys saw him do? If so, what? Sbodd wrote: What happened in your past where you were in, or came close to, the Dreaming (realm of the fey)? When Tethys left home, long ago, right after her powers appeared, she wandered the lands aimlessly. One night she fell asleep in a very pretty glade in the woods, and dreamed she was dancing with fairies, getting covered in the dust from their wings. When she awoke, she felt better than she had in a long time, and found what she thought was pollen covering her hands. It was only later, when she'd heard of the Dreaming, that she thought maybe it had all been real. ![]()
Human Channeler, 3 XP
![]() Trying to figure out what the complicated iron thing is, with respect to the box : Discern Realities: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 6) + 1 = 8 If I may, I'd like to change "What here is useful or valuable to me?" to "*How* is it useful to me?" in order to figure out its function. If that doesn't work, I'd like to use my "I've got a Bad Feeling About This" move to ask "What can I see that no one else can?" to figure out its function. ![]()
Human Channeler, 3 XP
![]() I was just looking around for the silver thing the guy yanked off the box. Wasn't sure if that called for a Move or not. If so, and Discern Realities is it...then I'm not really sure. Maybe "What here is useful or valuable to me"? I'm really just looking for a thing. :)

Human Channeler, 3 XP
![]() "I don't know, let me see...I started feeling queasy around the same time one of the guys pulled something off the box, let me see if I can find it..." If that triggers a Move, probably Discern Realities :
"Ah! Here it is - let me see if I can find where he pulled it off from..." ![]()
Human Channeler, 3 XP
![]() Seeing that her foes are fleeing, Tethys relaxes a little. Upon noticing the crowd, she pulls out her RHC badge and holding it high says loudly "Nothing to see here, folks - just taking care of some official business!". She goes over to the two that slipped on her ice, and helping them up, she apologizes profusely. ![]()
Human Channeler, 3 XP
![]() As she grabs for the box, she is suddenly overwhelmed by nausea : Defy Danger, DEX: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 6) + 1 = 12 But with a terrific muster of willpower, manages to keep her lunch down. She grabs the box and skates away with it for as far as her ice sheet goes, then will run with it down the alley. She will take the first available turn in order to get out of sight of her pursuers. ![]()
Human Channeler, 3 XP
![]() Sbodd - that sounds about right! Thinking that what worked before should work again, she repeats her efforts at the forceful, ice-coating blast : Channel: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 3) + 2 = 7 And again she'll stop the overflow of power by absorbing the damage herself :
HP = 21/26 ![]()
Human Channeler, 3 XP
![]() Tethys drops the Shield and tries to make the ground under the two ruffian's feet icy and slippery : Channel: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 4) + 2 = 8 She'll stop the overflow of power by absorbing the damage herself :
Assuming they slip and fall, she'll run by them fast, before they can recover, maneuvering over the ice with ease. HP = 25/26 ![]()
Human Channeler, 3 XP
![]() Tethys runs out into the street, looks over at the policeman and shouts at the top of her voice "RHC! We could use your help over here, NOW!" and points back into the building she just left. Maneuvering the icy street with ease, she dashes around the building into the alley, to discover...what? ![]()
Human Channeler, 3 XP
![]() Tethys takes a quick look around, and asks herself "Where's my best way in, out, or through?" to get to the alleyway where she heard the footsteps. And, while she's at it, "What can I see that no one else can?". And not to belabor the point, but *all* the other tags can easily be paired with another one (one type-of-effect, one damage tag), because they're all damage related. What if I could only double up on Barrier, because it's so odd? Last time I'll bring it up, I promise... ![]()
Human Channeler, 3 XP
![]() DM Sbodd - I envision the shield as coalescing out of the water vapor in the air and freezing into a shield in front of her. Regarding the Hazard tag...well, the power says "choose two tags", and *all* of the other were attack-based, so Hazard was the only one left. Maybe...it condenses water vapor out of the air in a wider radius, covering the area in fog? Nah, that's a penalty for her too. I'd be happy to just apply the one tag to this Power, if it's ok with you...Actually, the instructions *don't* say "two *different* tags", so could I take the Barrier tag twice for +2 Armor? Nah, didn't think so... :) ![]()
Human Channeler, 3 XP
![]() Tethys tries to channel her Power as a shield until she can see something to attack : Channel: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 4) + 2 = 9 So, +1 ice to her armor (total 2, now), and I'll take a complication :
![]()
Human Channeler, 3 XP
![]() "Consular, I am certain that you are under a magical compulsion to lie. Are you a willing participant in that? Do you want the one who has cast a spell on you unwillingly to get away with that? If not, I suggest that we get you to one of our police mages, who can remove the compulsion. Are you agreeable to that?" ![]()
Human Channeler, 3 XP
![]() Tethys is still working on investigating at the embassy... Burke, I'm confused, having looking up Tavern Keeper - when you talked about moving to a new platform, were you talking about using a different gaming system (due to the investigation aspects), or a different PbP forum (due to Paizo's yo-yo-ness lately)? I was assuming the former... ![]()
Human Channeler, 3 XP
![]() Perhaps the egg is a map to the outer planes, for those who can travel there? Tethys asks to speak to the consular in private, and accompanies her into her temporary office with Retzack, closes the door, turns to the consular and says, "Ok, it's time to put our cards on the table. Who ordered you to cover up the theft of the documents with the phony egg? And who took out Nilasa, we'll want to talk with them to hear their side of the story." Discern Realities: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 3) + 1 = 9 I'll use the one "what here is not what it appears to be" question to evaluate her answer to my first question for truthfulness. I figure we can confirm her answer to the second question easily enough by questioning the embassy staff. ![]()
Human Channeler, 3 XP
![]() If the DM thinks "Pushpins and Strings" is ready to go, I'd like to give it a try : +1 because we definitely have at least 3 facts that are connected :
P&S: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 4) + 1 = 10 Woohoo! So, in addition to any connections/conclusions we can make from all these, who's really in control? |
