Tarphesh won't. He just made deal.

"Thank you. There is one thing we need though, prove that you are dead. They need to believe us to come here." He looked at the chieftain, "Do you have any trademark item? Something we can show them. You'll obviously get it back once we're back."

When Lin spoke up he smiled and nodded. He knew but if all went well they would just have to clean up the last remnants of the battle that would occur. Tarphesh liked a fight but he was sane enough to know sparing your energy was a good thing.

"What I mean is you can kill the grey man, with a little help from us. I have no doubt you would prefer seeing them on the ends of your blades to someone else killing them. It's a bit harder but so much more satisfying." He grinned and showed his teeth at the last bit. "We can take them here under the pretense that we killed you and then you can strike. They won't know what hit them."

"You don't like the grey men, do you? Do you want a chance to kill them? That's what we offer." Truth was Tarphesh wanted both of the groups dead but the gremlin chief probably had the same idea. "I know you don't trust us and you have no reason to. Except for the fact that we have a common enemy in the grey men that is."

Male Half Orc Slayer (Vanguard) 1 | HP: 12/12 | AC: 17 FF:15 T:12 | F:+5 R: +5 W:+1 | Init:+3 Perc: +4 DV 60 ft

"Are you fast and nimble on the end of a sword as well?" Tarphesh glowers at the gremlin, "Now sit tight and wait, we talk first. I do not trust the grey people and I don't trust you but we all have to deal with it. So sit down and talk!" Tarphesh holds his sword in his hand to add to the threat.

Just to let you guys know, I'm still here. I'm reading through the gameplay thread now, figuring out how to best step in again.

Sorry for my silence guys. Had a death in the family earlier this week and we're still dealing with it, takes up a lot of them.

"First bugs and now walking rot, this place just keeps getting better and better." With that he lashes out with his greatsword, trying to find the correct angle.

Standard Attack nearest mold. Add a +2 to attack if I'm actually flanking as I have no idea
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 6) + 6 = 14

Little tight on time atm, will make a post later today.

As he sees his little sis getting attacked by these foul beetles Tarphesh lets out a roar before rushing at the last remaining beetle, sword held high to sink it into the critter's carapace. He just has to be careful he attacks the correct beetle.

[ooc]If possible a charge, if not move and attack. Rolling for charge, just subtract the +2
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 = 12

Tarphesh gives Val a kiss on the forehead as they say good bye, "You'll be safer at the inn Val, we don't want you to get hurt. If we have any news you'll be the first to hear it."

----

"You mean father Joram Kyte, he the one standing before you old man." The last part was said more jokingly than dismissive though it was quite clear that the failing memory of the old man did entertain him.

"We're going in after dad and we want to know what you know about those caves." "And look over your wares to see if there is anything particularly useful" Tarphesh added in his mind, no use saying that out loud to the pompous windbag.

Still here, just a ridiculously busy weekend and similar Monday (first day of a new course at uni, always busy)

And posting history doesn't say that much. I'm one of those people who does not post, at least not IC, just for the sake of posting when there is nothing to add (wasn't the case now, but it happens often enough).

"Well, they are the ones who just took out the robot so I say we give them the benefit of the doubt. The odd lady just promised miss Fredert she'd find dad and she's one to keep her word I think." He gave his two companions a concerned look followed by a smile. They'd have to do.

Tarphesh smiles as the gall charges and hugs him, "I'm just glad you're ok Val. You really should be hugging Tetsuda, he really saved you." He knew she didn't really like the giant bug but teasing his little sister always was a fun thing to do.

"Now we figured we're going after Khonnir, try to find him down in the caves. Do you know anything that can help us? I mean, you're his apprentice as well as his daughter." He signalled to Linpul that the gall was al right. She was more scared than hurt.

Somehow I think Tarphesh will be slowly pushed towards Chaotic Neutral through all this.

The main reason he does not trust her is because her ideals are almost the exact opposite of his (the more I think of it the more I think he's selectively Chaotic Good). He for one believes the system should serve the people (all the people) and not the other way around and while he does do most things for himself that also means he'll take care of those he cares about.

EDIT: Slight error on my end, Init should be +3 and not +2 due to my class ability. Doesn't change my place in the order though.

"Ah yes, crushing them to save their lives, how noble." He snorts in derision. Deciding the woman thing isn't worth the effort he once again turns to Lin instead.

"It probably is a good idea to check up on Val and that thing. She has been complaining I'm babysitting her too much though so perhaps you'd better start the conversation."

Male Half Orc Slayer (Vanguard) 1 | HP: 12/12 | AC: 17 FF:15 T:12 | F:+5 R: +5 W:+1 | Init:+3 Perc: +4 DV 60 ft

Tarphesh still only trusts Rosa as far as he can throw her at this point in time, being LN doesn't change that. In time it will probably change but for now that's what it is.

"Yet emotion also is the only tool we have to prevent us all becoming debased, cold and moral-less." He shakes his head, "You say you're good at what you do and I believe you and frankly we could use some help. Try to focus on the task at hand though and don't randomly molest any more street urchins." Those kids had it tough enough without her.

"And where did you get that nonsense? Silvermount has stood where it stands for ages and all the robots came with it. If technology doubled every seven years it would have taken over the world already, yet here it is, confined to these lands." He knew Linpul was a little crazy when it came to technology but this rat was downright insane.

We're on Golarion so Asmodeus, Cold Iron and a regular Heavy Crossbow fit just fine. Numeria is strange and has some sci-fi elements but it's still Golarion.

I'm not sure Tarphesh agrees, as can be seen in my last post. To him Rosa is a bully and a scumbag, the type he'd kick out of his father's tavern.

Tarphesh places a hand on the fiend's shoulder, pulling her back as she once more intimidates the children, "I think that'll be enough. Just leave those children be or I'll arrange it so they won't even let you sleep in the stables."

He lets go of her shoulder before turning to Linpul, "Are we sure we want to do this? She seems just as bad if not worse than those Technic League scumbags. I'm not sure if I want to expose Val to her, she has enough on her mind as is." All three of them did but Val seemed to be hit the hardest by Khonnir's disappearance.

As far as staying at the inn goes, Tarphesh lives and works there so for him it's quite easy.

Well, he's the adoptive father for both Linpul and Tarphesh so both really want to get him out I think.

Must add though that while Tarphesh is neutral he leans more towards chaotic than towards lawful. As far as good and evil goes it fully depends on who you are.

A large half orc steps in behind the small gnomish woman. Though quite tall he's a tiny bit shorter than the weird demonic woman. Wearing a suit of armor made of dull metal scales and carrying both a very large sword and shortbow.

"I agree with the lil' miss here, I will go and find Khonnir no matter what. I'll gladly take my share of the 4000 but I do not need the devil's money."

He owed Khonnir as much after taking him in so many years ago. The man could be in danger, probably was actually, and that meant he needed saving.

Linpul, we'd need to work something out considering Khonnir as Tarphesh is another adoptive child of his

Mogander's core belief is that Mitra's time, and that of his church, is over and the people are better of without him. In fact, people would be better off with someone like Mogander himself leading them instead of belief in a phony. His redeeming quality is that he is actually compassionate and merciful towards the innocent, which to him means small children and animals, and those who see their own folly and are willing to reform in his example.

Forgot last time, but I'll go with Focus & Foible.

Focus: Strength
Foible: Wisdom

Dex: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Con: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Int: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Cha: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

EDIT: Well those are fancy stats if I've ever seen any, nice

** spoiler omitted **...

I like the basic idea: paladin resists temptation... and gets unfairly clobbered for it! That's great. I also like that it's a complex fall, not just one thing; most of us don't turn Evil from a single bad experience.

The tricky bit I see here is that this character would logically be a raving misogynist. Which could make a great evil NPC, but could be hard for other PCs to work with.

Doug M.

Mogander has had nice women in his past as well, mainly thinking of the matrons of the orphanage where he grew up. As a result he doesn't hate women in general but is very distrusting of young and/or attractive women.

I'd like to submit Mogander Ivory, fallen Angelkin Paladin of Mitra, now Anti-Paladin empowered by her hate for her former church.

I'll update the profile with stats and further detailed background soon.

Background in short:

Melara was brought to the church of Mitra as a baby, her parents unsure what to do with a son that obviously was different in some way as was clear from his ivory skin.

He grew up in a Mitran orphanage was recruited into the clergy as a young teen. At the temple he was trained as a holy warrior, a duty Mogander fulfilled with pleasure.

This ended when an influential priestess called him to her. She had decided that Mogander would make a good bed partner and when he refused, citing his vows to Mitra, she seemed disappointed but that was all. He later found out it in fact wasn't as soon rumours spread of Mogander breaking his vows and sleeping with various, married, women in the city.

He went to other priests in the temple to tell them what really happened but none would listen to him. Eventually he returned to the high priestess who only laughed at him and offered him to undo it all if he accepted her earlier offer. Enraged at the gall of the woman he pushed her away as she pushed herself against him. Unintentionally she hit her desk and broke her back. Mogander ran.

At least a dozen years he spent running from the church, avoiding the hounds sent after him by the priestess, who was confined to a chair now. Mogander found that most of the soldiers sent after him were carefully picked by her, all coming from the groups Mogander had trained or worked with and to his own regret he had to kill several of them.

Eventually he was done running and decided to turn himself in at one of the high priests of the faith. He hoped to atone for his sin and told the man everything, including the events leading to the accident. He nodded. Those circumstances however were irrelevant the high priest proclaimed. In fact, it was all his fault as he simply should have obeyed the orders of his superior to begin with. She had been a high ranking priestess, he but a lowly paladin. He should have obeyed. Now he would be put to death, burned at the stake for denying the divine servants of Mitra and killing several of his friends. At that point Mogander snapped and with one fell thrust pushed his sword into the high priest's stomach.

When the guards arrived they came upon a grizzly scene: The high priest's lifeless body laid splayed out on the floor, his entrails hanging in front of the door. On the walls texts were written in the old man's blood, all of them talking about the corruption and misdeeds of the church and slandering Mitra as nothing but a fraud.

Amidst this all Mogander sat on the floor meditating, sword across his lap. His ivory skin unmarred by blood or gore.

Crime: Murder, Heresy and Blasphemy. The punishment they thought of for him fits all: Burning him till an inch of his life (basically by grilling him) then beheading him. (for trait purposes I'll stick with murder)

I'd like to submit Maliya Mogarin, Half Orc Oracle of the Outer Rifts and signifier armiger on temporary leave.

Concept:

Maliya is a young Half Orc haunted by a history that isn't her own. Her powers as oracle of the outer rifts defined her youth and she joined the Hellknights in an attempt to get a grip on her powers. In combat she'll function as a combination of blaster and, to a lesser extent, enabler and controller. Outside of combat she's a social character with a lot of knowledge on planar dealings. If at all possible I'd like to eventually go for the Hellknight Signifier PrC

Basic Stats:

Str: 14 Int: 10
Dex: 10 Wis: 8
Con: 12 Cha: 18

Gear: Long Sword, Buckler, Scale Mail, Spear, Light Crossbow, Pathfinder's Kit

Spoiler:
This kit consists of a backpack, a bedroll, a belt pouch, a clay mug, a dagger, 2 fishhooks, flint and steel, a sewing needle, a signal whistle, 50 feet of string, 50 feet of thread, a waterskin, a week's worth of trail rations, and a whetstone.

Some odds and ends beyond that probably

Background:

The daughter of one of Lady Eliasia Laroung's bodyguards and the master of the manor's stables, most of Maliya's youth took place in and around the Laroung manor. As a little girl she was trained both in the combat arts of her mother and her father's work as master of the stables. It looked as if she'd eventually take the place of one of her parents.

When her visions first manifested to her Maliya woke up screaming, babbling in a strange tongue that one of the Lady's apprentices recognised as Abyssal, the language of demons. The young man translated her words for her worried parents. In her visions she had seen dark realms were masses of fiends writhed and fought. She saw scenes of battles, both one fiend against another, against mortals and even against angels. When she stopped talking Maliya fell back into her bed and immediately went back to sleep.

Initially this whole episode was dismissed as a fevered dream, probably brought on by bad food but as the scenes started to repeat themselves, each visions described with more gory details, Maliya was moved to the University for study. There they came to the conclusion that Maliya's dreams were in fact visions of the Abyss and from battles the demons living there fought in the past, fight now or will fight in the future. They were, however, convinced that it would never move beyond these visions and that it simply would be something she had to learn to live with and that it could be a great asset if she decided to learn more on the matter.

For several years Maliya spent time at the university, both as a curiosity for students to study and to learn more about her connection to the abyss. Eventually it was discovered through complicated scrying of the past that one of her father's ancestor's had been a powerful demonologist and that somehow the taint he had placed on his bloodline surfaced in Maliya.

In addition she was still schooled in the arts of combat by her mother, but the horses had become skittish around her ever since the first vision and it took too much time to win the trust of every new horse. It was during sword training that her further abilities first showed as her weapon suddenly wavered as surrounded by hot air and when Maliya raised her weapon to attack the practice target it burst into flame. At this point the people at the university no longer knew what to do with er and considered her to be too dangerous to allow her entry within their walls again. Lady Leroung, who took pity on the little girl, used her connections to secure a place for her amongst the hellknights as a signifier armiger. Her parents, not knowing what other options remained, consented.

Her education amongst the Hellknights was harsh and unforgiving, but with their help she managed to control her abilities and finally get a grip on her visions as well. She still only spoke Abyssal during times of distress but at least she controlled her visions and powers instead of the other way around.

Her education continued and while on leave in Korvosa she met Marn, a young Half Orc who had recently joined the city guard. The two of them fell in love and soon they were engaged. They decided they would marry once Maliya had secured her place as a Signifier since He would have to stop as a city guard by then in order to prevent conflicts of interest for the both of them. It never came that far though, as within a few months of deciding on their engagement Marn was found dead in an alley. He had been on his way back to the barracks from patrol duty in Old Korvosa. The engagement ring both of them wore had been stolen from his body.

While the guard couldn't manage to track down the killer nor the ring, Maliya's mentor had more luck using divination. With it, he traced the ring to a shopkeeper in Midland. Sadly her pay as an armiger was to small to afford the ring and the shopkeeper either didn't believe her claims of being a hellknight or wasn't impressed by it and as such he wouldn't give her the ring. He did, however, tell her who sold it to him. Since then she's been on the hunt for a man called Gaedran Lamm.
