"Taking the girl back... wise choice, but let's leave the decision of telling the girl up to Maya. Perhaps later would be less traumatic... Okay?" Talberon began looking for something that he could use to dig a suitable grave with... Do we have anything that we could do that with on us?

Talberon look over at Tamilius and whispered, "What ya suppose we do now?" He looked back at the others, Gozer holding the child and thought, 'These times are hard. Too hard on the youth.' With the thought, his mind traveled back scant years, to when he gained his bleached scars, and as he did, his hand went to unconsciously touch his face.

Talberon quickly surveyed the cornfield battlefield quickly. Perception at cornfield battle:
1d20 ⇒ 5 Seeing what he saw, he moved back to the farmstead. "Your parents child? Hmmm. I suppose they are around here somewhere," he said not necessarily lying, but hesitant to tell the child that they were probably dead. "I will see if I can find them..." Talberon began moving around the burning building looking for signs. Perception around building:
1d20 ⇒ 19 If it burns down enough, he will also check out the interior of the burnt out building. Perception in building: 1d20 ⇒ 3

I'm lost in the order, but here is what I guess Talberon would do when he can. Talberon let his crossbow drop to swing on its restrain strap. Engaged in melee by the Goblin Dog, he drew his sword (Move Action) and swung wildly...
Attack!:
1d20 - 2 ⇒ (13) - 2 = 11
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 Am I at -4 or -2 for an unskilled weapon since I have a +2 STR modifier? -4 + +2 = +2? 'Let my strike be true,' he thought knowing he was not the most martially prowess-ed individual...
Male Human Wizard / 1st
Talberon rode on just behind Maya, while keeping a short leash on his horse. He tried to see as far as he could from his slightly elevated vantage point...
Perception:
1d20 ⇒ 20 "Be careful Maya, they could be anywhere," he whispered, referring to whomever had done such a thing back at the house.

Talberon knelt to examine the doll. He did not go to pick it up, 'Some monsters be tricky.' he thought. He saw something that caught his eye as he did. "Look there," he said pointing to near the doll, "Tracks. They lead off into that tall corn there." He pointed generally North and looked to the others...
Male Human Wizard / 1st
"Already on it," Talberon said to Trapper, as he swung down from his horse. His crossbow up. 'What... why would anyone do this?' he thought as he looked around.
Perception Check:
1d20 ⇒ 20 "HEY! HEY! OVER HERE!" he yelled as he spied the child's doll even through all the smoke. 'Perhaps someone is alive! Someone is watching out for them! he thought.
Male Human Wizard / 1st
"Well enough of all that," Talberon said to the others, "There may be survivors!" He spurred hard into his mounts flanks and let the horse have his head, allowing it to open up and run. 'This is not good. An ill omen perhaps...' he thought as he held the reigns and steadied the crossbow on his lap.
Male Human Wizard / 1st
Talberon mounted his horse and fell in with Trapper. "I am not much in the mood for singing I am afraid, but we must do it again some time. Perhaps under better circumstances," he said riding with his loaded crossbow across his lap and pointed away from the Dwarf. 'Smoke, I hope that is just from a cook stove... he thought as they traveled on.

I think I have posted this on the other games I am in, but I am working an average of 12.5 hrs a day at the moment and am scheduled for it until the 22nd. So please take that into consideration. I should be back on track following that, at least until the next rotation comes along. TB

Talberon chimed in, "I would agree. We could go back to town, but currently we are only working on guesses. If we can get this... Stank Eye Goblin... perhaps we can glean some better information..." His words trailed off, but his thoughts did not, 'If we are too late though...' OOC (Trapper): You know, I had never thought about how that skill might be used like that. I personally hate skill bloat, so this is interesting, and REALLY hated the old "Use Rope" skill!

"Yep," Talberon said agreeing with Tamilius, "Makes sense. As I understand it though, Rogue didn't give these Goblins the map. They already had it. But, he could have given it to them before and was on his way out here to link up for the attack. Thing is, why would he bring us with him out here? And, if it wasn't his idea to bring us out here, whose was it and why? Those answers might give us ideas of who else it might be, or who might be in cahoots with Rogue. But yea, this is making my head hurt... anyone else have a theory or two?" He looked around at the other, 'Hope someone has a plan...', he thought, as he did.
Male Human Wizard / 1st
Talberon eyed the map and listened to Trapper, then spoke. "I see it slightly differently, the yellow is surely routes. The large circle probably nothing more than a loop traveled around by the guards in that area where we were with the Ogre. Remember where the guards were headed? Anyway, the two red 'X's are objectives, if I don't miss my guess, and I imagine the Ogre was snuck in to help hold the Norther objective. I'd bet there is another on the South side of the mouth of the river. Perhaps in one of these building nearby it." Talberon pointed at the buildings south of the southern 'X'd out building. They were probably snuck in by whoever provided the Goblins with the guard routes... an inside job if you will... but, then again it is just speculation on what I see before me. After all, what can they gain from controlling the river, as that is what in affect would happen if you held the two 'X'd buildings...."

Talberon looked up at Maya, "He might try to lead us astray, or into a trap," he said in common. OOC: Dang site ate my posts... several actually... oh well. Just in case it is ruled that Perception works to see / hear Gozer fighting...
Perception Check: 1d20 ⇒ 4 well, what did I expect?!
Male Human Wizard / 1st
Can we see what is happening with Gozer from where we are with the Goblin? Quote: "Feel free to criticize as much as you need to. Is there anything that you think could be improved?" More maps. It's funny, I don't use maps much in person playing BECMI, or the like, but with the delay of this media (PbP) I just can't seem to keep up with who is where. But, lovin' it thus far. PFBB is starting to be my go-to rules set at the moment. TB

Switching to common, Talberon runs down what has transpired thus far with the Goblin, as well as explaining his suspicions about the map and wanting to find out what they intended to do. As he did, he kept an eye on the Goblin to see if it could understand Common. Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 10 Though as a character I am pretty unobservant!

Talberon walked out into the battlefield and pulled a bolt from a dead Goblin. He straightened the quills as he walked toward the Goblin Maya was questioning. He stuck the Goblin crusted tip in front of the Goblin's nose, Goblin: "See this? I suggest you get to explaining real quick. Why here, what are the plans for Sandport, and where is this... Blank Eye?

Talberon collected up the coins and headed to the bridge where Trapper had gone. As he arrived he began counting out four equal piles of gold pieces, five stacks of twenty, and then scooped on stack up. He placed the coin in his belt pouch. 'Not alot, but it will do. At least I might be able to purchase a room, meal, and replace the bolts lost,' he thought. "What you find Trapper? Don't forget your coin too."

Talberon, sensing the battle's death, stood and finish loading his crossbow. 'Hmph,' a simple noise escaped him when he looked at Tamilius, "Your welcome..." 'That is one reason I keep my magic my own...' he thought, 'I expect more of myself. Not waiting for a reply, Talberon turned and walked out where Gozer, Trapper, and Maya were. "That went surprisingly well," he chipped, as he set about searching the bodies of the dead Goblins. OOC: Do we need to roll for a search? I would assume not, but unsure.

Talberon, crotched behind the wood railing, knocks another bolt. 'How did they all end up out there in the open?' he thought as he poked the crossbow through the slats. He scanned the battlefield, 'Who has the greatest threat... he wondered. 'Thwang' He squeezed the trigger sending the bolt loose at a Goblin that was engaging Gozer and Trapper. Talberon felt the shaft slam into his shoulder and caught the shaft and grungy feathers out of the corner of his vision. Looking down, it registered, 'I've been shot... strange it doesn't hurt one...' That was when it hit him, the seering pain. It shot down his arm, across his chest, and through his back. "AHHHHH!" he screamed. He slumped slightly, 'PULL IT TOGETHER, OR YOU WILL DIE ON THIS BRIDGE!', he heard his mind say. His body responding shakenly, he raised his crossbow and lined up on the Goblin he thought had shot him. At least at one that had a bow... -Thwang- Standard Action: Attack and Damage:
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 191d8 ⇒ 8 OOC: Is there a side on this bridge that I can take cover behind? If so, my move action will be to crotch behind it. If not, my move action will be to reload the cross bow.

I would assume, if he is going to stick with the PFBB, he would take the notes on the right side of the PFSRD Goblin page and disregard any rules that aren't in the PFBB. Or, that is where I would start. So, PFSRD wrote:

"This could be your chance to go down in Licktoad history!" If they wrote such things down, that is. What is the seriousness level of it? Keith, I took to mean we got a surprise round since we heard them coming. A kind of "They are going to show up next round so be prepared." kinda thing. I just put out what I was going to do while the Goblins climbed up on the mound (move party member), and since we had initiative, wrote what I would do at the beginning of the first actual round. But of course, I may have screwed the proverbial pooch! The Bane

"I think better behind you two," he huffed pulling Tamilius along. +10' to [K7] "Scuze me Trapper," he said as he drug Tamilius to the bridge, "Want him on the.. other... side of you two. He allows Trapper to move enough to get Tamilius through. +15' (total 30') to [N7] "There, you'll be fine," he whispers to the unconscious Tamilius. What in the world happened to Tamilius?!!! Did I miss something? -------------------
He saw the Goblins emerge, "Here they come," he said, stating the obvious. He ran his thumb from his chin to his navel as he mumbled to himself, "Protect me father." Cast: Mage Armor Standard Action (AC 17) Hope the two actions aren't confusing. If so, just assume the first prep actions.

Looking up from Rogue to Trapper, Talberon says, "I sure hope your kidding. I'm not a doctor, but I don't think we should move him." He looked at the bridge and tried to determine if it could be used as a choke point. Roll required? To no one in particular, "You think we could use the bridge to slow them down a bit? Like a bottleneck?"

Talberon's horse pranced nervously... "Yes, but it isn't down yet. Perhaps you could assist?" his eyes going from the still standing Goblin to the others, stopping on Tamilius, as he asked. He pulled another bolt from a quiver for the crossbow. 'One of the others may bring it down, but there is surely more where these came from,' he thought, loading it into the crossbow. GM-Hairy wrote: "Do people prefer this way of combat?" I prefer it over what we were doing, but I would love to try rolling initiative and posting as we get on. Then a GM recap of events in initiative order. Will it occasionally mean that I attempted to hit a already vanquished foe? Probably. But I think it is acceptable and can be explained easily in the chaos of battle. Perhaps even trying an Out-of-Game encounter here in the Discussion thread? Think of the interesting possibilities. I read that Belethor attacks the lead Goblin. I check the to-hit and damage roll and it looks solid, so I post that I move through to assault the second Goblin only to find, when the GM posts, that it (the first Goblin) was still alive and lashes out at me as I pass (assumes AoO though) but you get the picture. Even with PFBB I am now between opponents, flanked! Best,

Talberon, keying off the events around him rather than his own senses, pulled up his light crossbow and turned over the back of his horse. Talberon quieted down when Rogue piped up and looked around. He was completely oblivious to whatever Rogue had spotted, but he could not help but to think something else in stead, 'Wouldn't we want to turn more Easterly before the bridge?' "Hey, guys... wouldn't we want to..." he cut off, thinking he may be wrong about there location. 'We have a guide,' he thought instead and turned back to being a follower.

Talberon listens to Trapper's song...
Do I know it? Knowledge Roll:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 ...and attempts to sing along in Dwarven! 'Ah, that explains Dwarven women and beards,' he thought. Then again, I could have no idea what he is singing about... =) Ah ha the hidden skill roll!
