Even though it was a miss, I'm content to keep the roll that I posted in this post as my round 2 readied action.

AoO from the Combat Maneuver:1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 1 = 16 (inspire courage)
Damage:1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 = 6 (inspire courage)

Atayos's Aid another is +3 so Garrett's CMD (modified) is 19, the troll fails

Ready to move forward and attack the troll, Garrett pauses after hearing his guards words. "Rando, he's right, let them come to us."

change originally stated action/rolls to readied action when on approaches.

Garrett moves forward to engage another troll, briefly enchanting his blade prior to the strike.

Attack:1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 1 = 12 (inspire courage)
Damage:1d8 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 10 (inspire courage, arcane strike)

AoO:1d20 + 6 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 1 + 4 = 28 (inspire courage, vs. prone)
Damage:1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 1 = 12 (inspire courage)

Will wait until all of the AoOs are resolved before posting a round 2 action.

Garrett continues to hack at the downed troll, channeling a bit of his magical energies into the blade...

Atayos makes a good point. Ranged attackers are currently suffering a -8 (-4 for firing into melee and -4 for firing on a prone target).Though you could potentially fire at one of the trolls further back in the cave and take only a -4.

Unless you are assigning a cover bonus, the other trolls should be normal AC as they are not currently engaged in melee.

Sir Garrett readies his sword and shield, following his honor guard into the cave. Seeing the downed troll, courtesy of Atayos, Garrett strikes at the fallen creature.

"While we are still all at our best, we should move into a position to deal with the group of three. Feldar, if you would be as so kind as to guide us."

Sir Garrett turns his attention to Feldar, "Good to see you again, Feldar, father sends his greetings. I assume you know the location of these caves? Which one is closest to the village?"

"In due time, Grendal. There is no since going into their caves and fighting them on their terms. We will go toward their caves but wait for them to come out into the open and fight them on our terms."

Remembering his training with his faithful guard, Garrett charges at the troll along side Atayos, at least until after the blow is struck.

Ride by Attack

Lance and shield readied, Sir Garrett urges Argos toward the troll.

Mount Run

Kill the troll that is out and about and then wait for the other trolls to come out of their cave. With at least two cavaliers, I'm not about to hamstring us by going mountless and fighting on their home turf.

After hearing the location of Feldar...

Garth, you and your men stay here and help Kelden ready the defenses. Rando, Atayos, Vors, Grendel, Torrin, Theo, and I will go see to the troll."

Keldan looks to Sir Garret.

Lord, I mean no disrespect, but do you think it is wise to go after them. Perhaps we should remain here and fortify our position. Surely they will sooner or later come to us, and we would have an advantage fighting them from the earthen ramparts.

Grendal jumps in before Garret can respond.

Sir Garret is right. We should take the battle to the trolls. If we engage them here there will be too much risk to the small folk. This is a task for warriors. It is a warrior's duty to protect women and children. A warrior doesn't endanger them when he doesn't have to, and a warrior doesn't hesitate to take the fight to the enemy.

"Grendal is right, Keldan. There is too much to risk by allowing them closer. That being said, Grendal, we must not get too far from here, should we need to fall back to defend against attackers from another direction."

"How many and how close, Theo? Garrett asks, as he heads for Argos.

"Very well, cousin. We saw the pair you seek heading south, they claimed to minstrels headed toward Oppara."

Bluff:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

Garrett follows his cousin out the door, "Luscious, this is not negotiable. You will take the prisoners to Albercroft Keep, or you can turn around, return to Redstone, and explain to your oh so understanding father how you managed to lose Grandfather's sword. I am not telling you this as family, but as the heir to Hawkhaven. Make no mistake you are not in your lands cousin, you will abide by our rules or you will leave."

"Because these people are in our lands and we would prefer to see proof before you remove anyone from Hawkhaven. I am sure you would demand the same should our rolls be reversed."

Just as Luscious and his men begin to leave...

"Luscious, one thing. Keep in mind you are in Hawkhaven, not Redstone, and thus you will follow our laws. You will not kill these supposed thieves. Upon capturing them you will go to Albercroft Keep with them. Am I understood, cousin?

Garrett shoots a look in the direction of Rando, then turns back to Vors and cousin.

"Yes, apparently there was a troll attack last night, thus the reason why even though it is custom to provide hospitality to visiting nobles, the Stirlings are not giving you their full attention. They simply have more important issues to deal with. I suppose that you are free to pursue your suspected thieves, though it would serve you right to never find them having lost the blade due to being too damned drunk to pay attention."

Turning his attentions back to Grendal, "Your aid would be welcome, and if I may add most proactive on your part. This close to Redstone, it is only a matter of time before the trolls attack one of Uncle Harkon's villages as well."

I vaguely remember what that's like. My baby girl is 13 now.

Holy crap that's a lot of posts for a Saturday...

"Managed to lose grandfather's sword, eh? We saw two entertainers along the road that theoretically could match the two you seek. How could have they gotten the sword, Vors? Uncle Harkon is not really the type to welcome traveling minstrels...unless of course he has changed a great deal since the last time I saw him."

"Vors." Garrett says emotionlessly. "Luscious, it has been quite some time."

"What brings you back to Hawkhaven? And with Uncle Harkon's house guards for that matter?"

"First order of business is to see what in the Nine Hells he wants. As for how to handle my brother, show no sign of weakness, do not back down. He can no longer take the chance of starting a fight with Rando and I, he will certainly look for every opportunity to cause us to strike first. That means that you could be the target of his aggressive behavior, Kelden."

"Be direct, but do not sink to his level. Vors is not a subtle man by any strech of the imagination." Garrett says contining toward the door.

Garth, one of the household guards, and one of those types that seems to always have a question about every little direction and always has an attitude that is borderline subordinate, looks to Sir Garret.

Secure the area sir? There's six of us. Just how would you like us to go about securing the area especially from trolls.

"Perhaps you would prefer the security of a prison cell, Garth? Count yourself lucky that you are with me and not my brother, Vors. He wouldn't have scolded you, he simply would have beaten you to a pulp for questioning his orders."

"Investigate the area for more troll activity. Do not engage the trolls. I would simply prefer to have warning if their lair is close."

Garrett turns his attention to the house guards accompanying him, "Feldar went off to the north and has at least an eight hour start on you. Ride out to the north no more than hour, if the area is secure return to the village."

Turning his attention to his brother, uncle, cousin, and honor guard, "You are free to choose your path, go with the guards or stay here with me."

Sir Garrett returns his gaze to Kelden, "I will accompany you to the manor, Vors being here does not bode well."

"Vors is here? What in the Nine Hells is he doing back in Hawkhaven?"

Sir Garrett continues, obviously conflicted, "Would you prefer I follow after your uncle, or return to the manor with you to see why my brother is here?"

Garrett continues to ride up toward who assumes to be Kelden Stirling.

"Kelden, your brother arrived safely at Albercroft Keep. He is resting now. Do you have any who is responsible for this, and what can we do to help?" the heir to Hawkhaven asks, genuinely conscerned.

Diplomacy (if needed):1d20 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 3 = 17 (assist from Atayos)

"If I have learned one thing over the years it is to never doubt my cousin if a young woman is involved." he says riding off in the direction noted.

Ride:1d20 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 4 = 29 (inspire competence)

Is it Grimstead or Redstone? You call Harkon's barony Redstone in the campaign info, or does Harkon rule both?

Sir Garrett these people are anything but small. Thinking of them is to forget your heritage as a knight of the realm. Your duty is to protect them for they are what make you noble. .

"True enough, cousin. All the more reason to make haste to the Cerwen homestead, so that we might spare others its fate."

Garrett returns Atayo's comment with a small smile, "Uncle Torrin meant no harm, and has always been the talkative sort. I was less than pleased with my cousin referring to him as an oaf. There are always squabbles, but we should maintain a united front in front of the smallfolk."

"Enough about that for now, Sir Atayos, we have more pressing matters to attend to." Sir Garrett says, bringing Argos to a full gallop.

Seeing his younger brother dismount and start moving toward the woman, Garrett keeps a closer eye on the man.

Garrett brings Argos to a halt, waiting to see what Torrin's line of questioning yields.

"To be honest, Uncle, I do not truly know much other than that the Cerwen homestead was attacked, and the family is dead. That close to my Uncle Harkon's lands, I would not be surprised if Vors had something to do with it."

For those of you unaware, Vors is the oldest of the Albercroft children and would have been the heir to Hawkhaven had he not turned out to be such a bully and a lout. Vors behaivor cost him his birthright (which now belongs to Garrett) and caused him to leave to live with Baron Harkon Albercroft.

"Dear nephew would you mind my company on your little ride?" he stands there fully armored and outfitted looking quite impressive and fashionable. his studs on his leather made fashionable symbols and his personal crest outlined in studs on his chest. his backpack filled with his masterwork tools and a few other survival instruments.

"You are always welcome to join us, uncle. I see that you are ready, that is good, as we must make haste. The situation is dire enough that even Feldar Stirling says it is bad." he say getting up into Argos's saddle, ready to ride off

Looking to Atayos and Rando, "Sounds like that ride we were about to go on has a bit of purpose now." Turning his attention to his cousin, "Theo, you are welcome to join us, should you feel so inclined."

Gear and Traits selected.

"Impeccable timing as usual, cousin." the heir to Hawkhaven says, his comment dripping with as much sarcasm as his bastard cousin's bow, as he turns his attention back to the young Stirling boy.

Actually I haven't updated any of Garrett's equipment from his origninal game yet. Something that I plan to do during my lunch hour today ;)

So try not to run too fast in combat. This full plates heavy!

No worries. Garrett is not my normal movement monkey. He's wearing full plate too. ;)

Noting the exhausted condition of both rider and mount, Garrett hurries over to help the boy off of his horse. "Florian! Come see to Master Stirling's horse."

Helping the boy off of the horse, Garrett awaits Denise's answer.

"You know I don't get home much...It'd be nice to do something with the family. And friends of course," he adds, nodding to Golem and to Theodric, whom he hadn't noticed earlier.

Don't know if I simply misread your intent or not, but Theodric = Baron Albercroft a.k.a. the father of Rando and Garrett

"Morning, Rando." Garrett says with a smile. "Hadn't really thought of any plans for the day, though a ride sounds splendid." he answers as much to The Golem as his brother.

Turning his attention to his father, Garrett says, "Unless of course you had something else in mind, father."

Garrett rises in the morning and meets his guard, Atayos, in stables. The heir to Hawkhaven arrives intent on seeing to his white steed, Argos, not particularly out of any distrust of the stable boys, but more of a desire to do something for himself for once.

"Good morning, Sir Atayos. Rest well?" the young man asks, as he begins to groom Argos.

The heir to Hawkhaven looks every bit the young lord he is, an immaculately dressed, well built man with shoulder length blond hair and closely trimmed beard. He stands nearly equal in height to the dour man known to many throughout the keep as The Golem.

The young man's attention turns quickly as he hears the opening doors of the keep.

"Good morning, father." he says with smile, fully knowing he about to be chastised for doing stable boy's work again.

Waiting for the same information as Atayos and Rando.

Rando, if you are a younger sibling to Garrett, I have Garrett at age 24.

The background in the profile is starting to come together (but not complete) if anyone is waiting on my background for information for their own.

I will be updating Garrett's background throughout the day and early evening as time permits today. I will post an update when complete.

I've got some ideas about family relationships and such for the characters. I'll throw some out there later today and you can see what you think, so that you can iron out your backgrounds a little better.

I look forward to seeing what you have in mind.

As far as hit points go, even/odd is fine by me. Another option would be go with Pathfinder Society rules and do 1/2*die +1. For example, a fighter would get 6 hp every level, a rogue would get 5, a wizard 4, etc.

I'm not particularly a fan of doing away with initiative, but if that is what the group as a whole wants to do, I can live with it.
