The Reddit seems divided on how these two interact.
Bastion Plate, from the Treasure Vault has a Strength score of 18, a Speed Penalty of 10, and the Hindering trait, which reads:

Hindering wrote:
This armor is so heavy and bulky it slows you down no matter what. You take a –5 penalty to all your Speeds (to a minimum of a 5-foot Speed). This is separate from and in addition to the armor's Speed penalty, and affects you even if your Strength or an ability lets you reduce or ignore the armor's Speed penalty.
Unburdened Iron wrote:

You've learned techniques first devised by your ancestors during their ancient wars, allowing you to comfortably wear massive suits of armor. Ignore the reduction to your Speed from any armor you wear.

In addition, any time you're taking a penalty to your Speed from some other reason (such as from the encumbered condition or from a spell), deduct 5 feet from the penalty. For example, the encumbered condition normally gives a –10-foot penalty to Speed, but it gives you only a –5-foot penalty. If your Speed is taking multiple penalties, pick only one penalty to reduce.

So a Dwarf with a Strength of 16 in Bastion Plate would have a move Speed of 5 feet. (20-10-5=5) A Dwarf with Strength 18 in the same armor would have a Speed of 10 feet. (20-5-5=10)

A Dwarf with Unburdened Iron, regardless of Strength score, would ignore the 10 foot Speed penalty from the armor.
The question is, does the "any time you're taking a penalty to your Speed from some other reason (such as from the encumbered condition or from a spell), deduct 5 feet from the penalty" apply to Hindering, or does the newer "This is separate from and in addition to the armor's Speed penalty, and affects you even if your Strength or an ability lets you reduce or ignore the armor's Speed penalty" override the feat?

My wife and I have been out of the game for a few years after the birth of our son, and we're trying to get back into Organized Play.
One of my wife's favorite characters to play in 1st edition PFS was a camel riding Katapeshi Cavalier. The camel was MVP in several encounters, rolling high in clutch moments. She's interested in recreating the character for 2E, but from my understanding of the Archives of Nethys site, the Camel is not available without a boon, and the boon is located in the chronicle of the *FIFTH* book of an adventure path!
Is that right?
Is the camel that powerful?
Is there any other way to get a camel mount?

Its a beautiful summer morning in Almas, and the Field of Concord is bustling with activity. Large banners hang over the entrances to the parade grounds, proudly proclaiming the 45th Annual Great Andoran Fair. Merchants from all over the Inner Sea are finishing setting up their tents in preparation of opening day, filling the air with sights and scents both exotic and familiar.
Newsboys hawk their papers in the building crowds, shouting headlines like "Pathfinders Delve Droskar's Crag" and "Recent Earthquake Not Expected to Impact Fair".
From exotic foodstuffs to local Andoran crafts to rare books and antiquities, there's something to interest anyone at the Great Andoran Fair!

“The witch Bandora has escaped her prison and has unleashed a monster to conquer Golarion! Find a team of adventurers with attitude!”
Hallo, SirGeshko here, playtesting my Power Rangers rules. I need between 3 and 6 players to create a team of Power Rangers to take on the witch Bandora and her crew of monsters, and save Golarion!
Please reference the Power Ranger house-rules here. I plan on running a session at 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 9th levels, just to test the major features of the rules.

Character Creation Guidlelines
20 point buy
Core Rulebook Races only (keeping it simple for the playtest)
Paizo classes only. No Summoners, and no animal companions / familiars / mount options.

Build your character for these four levels:
Level 1: Ranger Suit, 150 gp wealth
Level 3: Ranger Suit, Power Weapon, 3,000 gp
Level 5: Ranger Suit, Power Weapon, Combo Weapon, Zord, 10,500 gp
Level 9: Ranger Suit, Power Weapon, Combo Weapon, Zord, Megazord, 46,000 gp

Work with your fellow players to come up with a team theme, especially when it comes to combining your weapons and Zords. Animals or other beasts, Elements, and natural phenomena are common themes. Distinct colors are a must (no Red and Crimson Rangers for instance).

Greetings all!
I'm trying to make a religious (Grenadier) Alchemist, and I was trying to determine which would be a better one to three level dip: (Divine Hunter) Paladin or (some form of) Inquisitor.
I realize both options make me incredibly MAD, but his role is to be a party face, pinch healer, and ranged bomber.
I'm looking at the following stats
Human or half elf
Str 8
Dex 15
Con 8
Int 15 (+2)
Wis 14
Cha 14
Thanks for your input!

Staff of the Vanara King
Aura moderate transmutation; CL 9th
Slot none; Price 82,660 gp; Weight 4 lbs.
Description
Vudran legend tells of a Vanera monk who used a staff that could drastically change size. This gold-trimmed black +1 impact ki focus quarterstaff recreates some of the properties of that artifact. As a standard action, the wielder can cause it to grow to a length of 12 feet and gain the reach weapon property. Alternately, it can be shrunk to the size of a pin.
If your size changes from an enlarge person spell or similar effect, the weapon does not get any larger. The maximum reach is always 10 feet, and only creatures of size Large or smaller can effectively wield the staff of the vanara king.
If you have the Quarterstaff Master feat, the staff can be resized as a move action, and you continue to threaten adjacent squares while the weapon is enlarged.
Construction
Requirements Craft Arms and Armor, enlarge person, lead blades, shrink item, creator must be a monk; Cost 41,330 gp

I'm planning on running the Silverhex Chronicles at a local gaming convention, RetroGameCon, and they've asked me to write up a blurb for their website.

I come to the community for help.
I need to condense everything awesome about Pathfinder and the Silverhex quests into a single amazing paragraph, that will also pique the interest of gamers who are more familiar with Mario and Sonic than Merisiel and Seelah.

I was thinking of starting with a few sentences about the quests, then broadening it to Pathfinder as a whole.
Any thoughts?

I'm looking to grab attention at a convention or store by mimicing the classic WWI "We want YOU!" recruitment posters.

Anyone have the artistic chops to draw Valsin doing his best Uncle Sam?

Grand Lodge

Does a camelrider gain a benefit from the Trample feat?
They don't have a hoof attack.

Grand Lodge

I had a player ask me this question recently, and I wanted to get the community's feedback.

The player wants to take the feat Eldritch Heritage at 3rd level, so he can begin to use the Claws. Then, at 6th level take the Dragon Disciple prestige class.

Eldritch Heritage says you must choose a bloodline you don't have.

If you later take a level in a class that grants that bloodline (like Dragon Disciple), do you now have a dead feat?
Do you spontaneously switch bloodlines?
Are you prohibited from taking that class if there are no other bloodline options?

Do they have two 'pools' of 3+Cha Mod rounds/day of claws, at different power levels?
Do they gain an additional 3 rounds/day and use the higher powered feature (like a monk/ninja multiclass' ki pool)?
Do the Claws count as the same ability from different sources, meaning the more potent ability would override the other entirely?

My inclination is to the latter, but it feels odd to punish a player for trying to add flavor to his character concept earlier than 6th level.

Lets start PFS in the Central New York area, starting in Syracuse and working West and South!
I'm gathering interest for a monthly or bi-weekly event at Syracuse's only FLGS, Play the Game, Read the Story (formerly Altered States). This would likely take place on Wednesday evenings, to align with the store's gaming schedule, and depending on the interest, expand from there.
Please post here, message me, e-mail me at syracusepfs@gmail.com, or text or call 315-908-2696 if you're interested, and hopefully we can get this party started in Salt City!

Greetings!
While brainstorming ways to generate interest for Pathfinder Society Play in Syracuse and Central NY, I had the fantastic idea to create a PFS poster in the style of the WWI recruitment posters, using photoshop wizardry to substitute a VCs head (likely Ambrus Valsin's) for Uncle Sam, and recoloring Uncle Sam's (public domain) clothes to match the Paizo art.
Essentially, I'd be editing another image to match it up with the unaltered headshot from the blog. For those of you who use image manipulation programs, the Paizo art would be on a separate, locked layer that would be laid atop the modified Uncle Sam layer)

Would this be a valid use of the artwork?

Quick questions about the Defender of Nerosyan boon from the season 5 special, Siege of the Diamond City:

Spoiler:

It reduces the cost of a prestige award by 2-4 (depending on the impressiveness of your victory) while around a city of 5000 or more in Mendev or the Worldwound. Does it allow for the purchase of free Prestige Awards? For example getting a 2PP= 750 gp purchase? Is it once per scenario? One time only? Does it reduce the cost of vanities?

I've got a PFS character that is more fragile than I would like. He was conceived as nimble support character, passing crits with Butterfly Sting and paired wakizashis to a two handed bruiser.

I started with two levels of Lore Warden Fighter, to get extra feats, then I was planning on continuing with Ninja for the skills, sneak attack, and ninja tricks.

Here's his current stats
Half-Elf Lore Warden 2/Ninja 1
Str 10
Dex 16
Con 14
Int 14
Wis 10
Cha 14

My question is, would adding a level or two of (Master of Many Styles) Monk for Kirin Style and Crane Style improve my survivability or hurt it?
I know the AC bonus, flurry, and fast movement wouldn't apply while I was wearing light armor...

My players latched onto the idea of the Stasis Fields. I changed things so rather than numerous small caves holding prisoners, it was a single large cave with an army put in reserve to repel what the Azlanti thought was an impending aboleth invasion. (It turned out to be Earthfall.)

After making their way through a dungeon, and deciphering the reanimation device, they've awakened the army...

The Azlanti are men out of time, but they're still an army. What would they do next? How would the rest of the Inner Sea react?

Silver Crusade

A rugged looking gnome stands atop a leather-clad wolverine, itself perched atop a small crate, on a street corner near the Ascendant Court. Draped across his shoulders but beneath his dark olive hair is a black and brown ferret. Around his neck dangles a hand-carved compass rose composed of various animals. He adamantly preaches to the passing crowds, using his longspear to steady himself atop his shaky tower.

"It is time for us all to venture from our comfortable cities and live in harmony with nature once again! The beasts of the wild are not monsters, but allies of good! Don't let the demonic lies of the Mother of Madness fool you! Her usurpation of His power is incomplete..."

"Curchanus LIVES!!"

A friend of mine expressed interest in making a bruiser melee character for PFS, so I was on the hunt for a concept that could complement. I ran across Butterfly Sting (When you confirm a critical you can forgo the extra damage to make the next ally who hits that target with a melee attack an automatic critical) and thought it was perfect!

Now how to implement it? I came up with three options:

1) Rogue or Ninja- I'd be using kukri or wakizashi and TWF to gain as many attacks (and possibilities to crit) relying on sneak attack to do damage, while being a skill monkey.

2) Cavalier or Tactician Fighter for the tactician ability. Teamwork feats are awesome if I can give them out. Limited use outside of combat.

3) Holy Tactician Paladin for the battlefield presence ability, giving a teamwork feat to all of my allies as an aura

I don't know how this would work, but would it be feasible to combine concepts 1 and 3? A sneaky Paladin? Here's a temporary build:

Half-Elf Holy Tactician/Ninja of Shizuru from Jinin or Minkai
Anatomist +1 to confirm Criticals
Str 10
Dex 14+2
Con 14
Int 14
Wis 10
Cha 14

1 Paladin 1 Half Elf-Skill Focus (Acrobatics), Combat Expertise
2 Ninja 1 +1d6 sneak attack, using a wakizashi
3 Ninja 2 Combat Trick- Weapon Finesse, Butterfly Sting
4 Paladin 2
5 Paladin 3 Tactical Acumen: Outflank, Two Weapon Fighting paired wakizashis
6 Ninja 3 +2d6 sneak attack
7 Ninja 4 Combat Trick- Combat Reflexes, Gang Up
8 Ninja 5 +3d6 sneak attack
9 Ninja 6 ???
10 Ninja 7 +4d6 sneak attack
11 Ninja 8 Improved Critical
12 Ninja 9 +5d6 sneak
13 Ninja 10 Critical Focus

I realize another level of Paladin (or fighter?) would give me more BAB, which would let me get Improved Critical and Critical Focus a few levels earlier...

Would this build be useless? Any ideas on improvements to make it more effective would be welcomed, including scrapping the multiclass, changing race (human? tengu?) or weapon choice (rapier? aldori dueling sword?)
Many thanks!

I was beginning to work on something I remember from the road map Atlas (Back before we had a newfangled device that could pinpoint our location by satellite and store detailed roadmaps for an entire country in a box no bigger than a calculator!)
I'm talking about a Distance Table, showing the mileages between major Golarion Cities.

I started pulling a list of settlements out of the ISWG, when I realized I might not be able to share my work with fellow gamers, due to the Community Use Policy.

Would something so innocuous as a list of settlements, their populations, and the approximate distances between them along trade routes be prohibited?

Lantern Lodge RPG Superstar 2015 Top 32

Trying to find information about this Chelish city other than...

Its location, as labeled on the various maps of Cheliax and described in the Pathfinder Wiki

Its population of 19,500 residents as listed in the ISWG.

It features an abandoned Hellknight Citadel nearby, vacated by the Order of the Nail 30 years ago, as briefly mentioned in the timeline with the 'Path of the Hellknight' article in Council of Thieves 4, Infernal Syndrome.

Any ideas?

Lantern Lodge RPG Superstar 2015 Top 32

I'm running two rival groups in the same campaign, and things that one group does will affect the other group and vice versa.

One group likes to stick it to Cheliax every chance they get. While passing through (sailing for their lives) the Arch of Aroden, they managed to infect a Corentyn rat with the Bubonic Plague (DC 17 Fort).

That's a pretty substantial DC for the majority of the population! Anywhere from an 50-80% chance of contracting the disease for the average commoner and low level PC class. A 5th level Cleric or 6th level Paladin could remove it, but they need to make a caster level check, with less than a 50% chance of success.

What do you think would be the effects/repercussions of such an infection? Corentyn is a *major* port; all traffic in or out of the Inner Sea must stop and pay the tariff, which means there's a good possibility of spreading to major ports throughout Golarion. How fast will it spread to different ports?
Will Chelish ships/sailors be blacklisted? Rahadoum grow bold and attempt to take Kharijite back? Asmodeous-sponsored quarantine and 'cleansing' of the infected?

Just trying to brainstorm ideas, any input is highly valued! ^_^

I have a player that is interested in a refluffed Arcane Archer prestige class, with the intelligence-based arcane casting prerequisites replaced by wisdom-based divine casting prerequisites.

I wanted to see if the community could come up with other ways to reflavor the class; giving it alternate powers, instead of just advancing divine spellcasting.

Any thoughts?

So after running Scenarios #29 and #30, for a group of new (level 1) players, I purchased and downloaded #31 and #32.

Imagine my surprise when I realized they didn't have a Tier 1-2.

I realize I should have checked before I bought it, but I assumed they were meant to be played sequentially. (I know when you assume you make an... ) Now I realize that as a GM, I'm going to need to pick and choose the scenarios that are already out and craft a narrative for my group.

To that end, is there any way to sort the Scenarios by Tier? And, to a lesser extent, by Setting? It would really help in choosing which scenarios to purchase and run next.

Many thanks!

When reporting a scenario that the GM has applied GM credit to a character, should that character be reported as 'playing' the module?
Or is that already assumed for the first time a GM reports a particular scenario?

I'm trying to start a PF Society game at my Friendly Local Game Store (FLGS) in Bennington, VT.

This thread serves two purposes:

1) To serve as a call to arms for any Pathfinders in Southwestern Vermont, Northern Berkshires of Massachusetts, and East Capital Region of New York to come to the Gamer's Grotto, on Main Street in Downtown Bennington, and participate in an ongoing Pathfinder Society Event. Time and date to be determined after I get the tenative schedules of the interested parties.

2) The proprietor of the Gamer's Grotto is inquiring as to any possible benefits from hosting an event in his store. He likes running WotC events (4e RPGA and Magic) because each one earns his store 'prestige' (or something). This allows him to get better deals on the products, better promotional give-aways, and so on.
I know Hasbro/WotC are infinitely bigger than Paizo (just look at their customer service! What customer service? ::ZING!!::), but does Paizo offer any incentives to FLGS, other than the superior nature of their product?

I remember reading somewhere that certain types take precedence over other types when applying templates, and there was a pyramid or hierarchy for them. (For instance, applying a template that changes the creature type to 'Plant' would not affect the type of an 'Outsider')

The subtype would be changed, but not the type.
Does anyone have any idea where I got this idea from?

Lantern Lodge RPG Superstar 2015 Top 32

I was watching the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cartoon while doing some campaing building, and noticed they fit stereotypical roles of an adventuring party:

Leonardo- Leader. He's portrayed as the most aware and proficient turtle, suggesting a high wisdom, and filling the Divine caster role. Possible Ranger(Favored Organization (Foot Clan)?/Paladin/Cleric?

Michaelangelo- Jokester, trickster. He would definitely be the Rogue in the party, someone who's underestimated until he wails on them with a sneak attack flurry of nunchuckau. Rogue/Ninja/Scout?

Donatello- Techie. The brains of the operation, he'd have a high intelligence, the most skills, and item creation feats. Artificer/Wizard/converted Duskblade?

Raphael- Meatshield. Raph is typically dealing with his anger issues, and is the strongest turtle, sliding him snugly into the barbarian role. I don't think Power Attack with two sais will cut it, however.

Does anyone have any Feat, Weapon, or PrC suggestions for making these hypothetical builds viable?
