Assuming Bym 'elevatored' with the rest of us, before heading to the manticore, Seeva would have at least cast Guidance or Hermean Potential, or something, to aid unless it was unwanted.

TAGAGASHI

The Swordsman sheaths his blade, and leans against the wall, chuckling at Zoogore. Ha! Maybe worry about your gobbie first!

TAGAGASHI

Tagagashi runs straight forward to his closest opponent, I got this one, you get the other one, Zoogore! The samurai lowers his shield, and slashes at the goblin with his sword.

Tagagashi VS Goblin (Green): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
DMG To Goblin (Green): 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

TAGAGASHI

The samurai looks over to the scythe-wielder and smirks, I think Zoogore and I would prefer the third option. Tagagashi picks his shield up, and adjusts it back onto his arm. As he walks to the door he draws his sword and raises his shield, Same procedure as last time, you ready? Knowing his friend is always ready for anything, The swordsman kicks the door in...

TAGAGASHI

I agree with Bamur; we shouldn't let them tell the others or sneak off and maybe even plan an attack.

TAGAGASHI

The samurai turns his gaze to the wizard now. Well I would assume that conversation Suki spoke of would be between goblins. Perhaps you should see what they have to say. You understand Goblin, do you not?

TAGAGASHI

Tagagashi turns to his left, now facing Kip, Well if you're looking for something to do, I might have just the thing for you. It appears this isn't just a hiding spot, but it's actually a tunnel. I believe it connects to the trapped room from earlier. There's a couple of problems though, the samurai hesitates and looks around the room, scanning each of his companions, It's a tight fit, and knowing these goblins, the tunnel might be trapped as well. However, would they really trap a hidden tunnel?

TAGAGASHI

Once more, Tagagashi attempts to put an end to the goblin's already overstayed welcome. Only now, he aims for the heart of the harmless vermin.

Tagagashi VS Blue: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
DMG To Blue: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Feeling a wave of satisfaction wash over him, the blade-master plunges his sword deep into the chest of the 'Gobbie', and pulls it out with it's heart on the end.

Seeva lets out a low whistle as she gently takes the offered robe from Calrianne, taking a closer look. Holding the garment by the shoulders, letting the length of it hang, the witch slowly turns it around a few times, scrutinizing it as she starts to recognize the item ...

Seeva Spellcraft Check, Day 1(DC - 25): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
Seeva Spellcraft Check, Day 2 (DC - 25): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25

... After a day of digging through her collection of information, she recalls some pieces of lore and a legend from generations ago but takes her time, being sure to crosscheck her notes, deep in thought.

Waiting for GM's item details to finish the posting.

TAGAGASHI

The swordsman chuckles at the goblin's sad attempts to land a blow, as he recognizes it to be the one who so politely left a trail of his own blood for us to follow. At last! You can't escape your fate! Tagagashi confidently drops his shield, and grips the hilt of his blade with both hands.

Tagagashi VS Blue: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Unfazed by the miss of his own attack, the samurai readies himself to try again.

Tagagashi

Tagagashi nods back to Mythandor, and gracefully jumps off of the table, landing like a cat, and quiet as a mouse. He slowly stalks over to the tapestry with his shield raised in front of him. Following a soundless slice, the bottom three quarters of the tapestry hits the ground, sending a small wave of dust over the floor.

required Spellcraft checks for teaching spells to familiar.

Spellcraft - Enlarge Person (DC 16): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
Spellcraft - Hermean Potential (DC 16): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
Spellcraft - Hex Vulnerability (DC 16): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27

Using second scroll of Enlarge Person to attempt previously failed spell. Roleplay-wise this would be done the following night, after giving the scroll to Halaron to add to his spellbook and make me a replacement.

Spellcraft - Enlarge Person (DC 16): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30

Seeva makes no effort to hide her boredom with the last five or so hours of tedious details that do nothing to further her own agenda; although Whiff enjoys being the center of her attention for that time. She had spoken with Durin prior to the meeting, and both agreed that the witche's directness in conversation would not likely be gainful here. The expected accounts of damages and available resources took much longer than she would have thought but she was no authority on that type of planning. Hoping, now that her parties information had been shared, that those representing Trunau would now share their findings, the witch sends her companion out of the meeting and sits forward, attentive and listening.

Seeva indicated that she would spend the day speaking with the seer and follow up on anything coming from that conversation but no response came from her actions. Was intending to bring discovered details to this meeting

Also, not sure how locating any scrolls went.

The witch flashes a crooked smirk at Bym, Depends on the situation.

Seeva turns and nods to Durin in acknowledgement, long ago tiring of the 'conversation'. I'll be waiting on Half-size and his mutt to be ready before I have a look out there, in the meantime I'll go see the old cripple, Katreeza, and poke around locally, joining you for this evenings meeting.

besides 'poking around' Seeva will also use this time to see if the shopkeepers, while repairing damage to their properties, will welcome the GP she intends to spend on scrolls.

Seeva explodes into a howling laughter that almost instantly becomes a chilling cackle. In the blink of an eye she fully returns to serious. No. I do not have any intention of picking that kind of a fight. And if we were to use that disguise for either of you, we'd have to stack you one on top of the other. Sending a crooked smirk to the dwarf, the witch finishes stacked properly, Durin, you wouldnt need to loose the beard, it would be placed perfectly.

Halting a moment to collect her thoughts, Seeva tries to better explain herself. As I understand them, half-orcs generally only help a rival clan for two reasons; either out of fear or for the payout. I would place my bet on the first of those two options, and if that's true, any enemy of my enemy is my potential ally. I'm just not confident enough to act on anything we may have so far, I suggest a bit of information gathering.

She looks to some of the other members of the party and pointedly asks Does our wizard or cleric have an opinion?

Whiff as a tracker was just to reinforce Seeva's need for at least 1 companion with good tracking.

Good. She thinks to herself At least a couple good trackers have shown interest already.

Taking in Durin's comments, Seeva thinks a moment. I agree, by the information we have so far it does seem that Grenseldek farmed out the attack. By the time enough of you are ready to go have a look it is unlikely we will catch any stragglers on the path but at least by following it we can confirm some of what we think we know. Thinking of the disguise kit the party had recently acquired she smiles an evil smile as she asks Any of you speak the local dialect of 'half-orc'?

Smirking, and bending down to scratch Whiff in an effort to try and conceal it, Seeva listens to Durin's conversation with Halgra. She loved his directness, it nearly matched her own approach to conversation. Why waste time exchanging pleasantries when information is required?

Knowing, in her own mind, that she had done more for the town than it had done for her artifact search, the witch was more than ready to head out. Unfortunately, few others of her companions were. I did not come to Trunau with a red cross on my chest, promising to help all those in need. Gritting her teeth she tries to gain something from the conversations at hand.

Knowing it would be foolish for her to set out alone, she waits for a break in the conversations and asks of everyone present. With an army of half-orcs, and their siege machines, reaching the city wall I would imagine there to be a fairly easy trail of their approach to follow, unless it was covered by magic somehow. Further, any survivors likely returned to the same place they came from so finding this trail should present at least some direction. Although she knew Whiff to be fairly competent tracker, she wanted to make sure her efforts produced information. This prompted her next question. Assuming this hasn't been looked at yet, I'd like to take at least a competent tracker with me, if one is available, to see what can be discovered.

Seeva has bought nothing, only figured out what is available in regards to the new scrolls.

Seeva and Whiff spent 3 hours learning 3 scrolls, those scrolls I had on my person and did not need to acquire. It was the time Durin spent talking to the NOC's, I bowed out to sit at a makeshift fire with Whiff. I also made that distinction in a previous post.

My last post stated that I'm not much good for anything further without a good nights rest.

Slowing down is fine but specifically which part(s) am I taking too far? I thought I put the brakes on in the right places.

I see. The witch thinks a moment. So we have 2 of the 3 pieces needed, the hammer and half of the map. Was it public knowledge that these items were here or did this Grensekdek have to acquire that information himself?

Either way, I'll be ready to make the trip after a good nights rest; I'm nearly depleted and not much use to anyone now after the day we had today. Excited by the finding of the hammer, the first real magical artifact of her searches in this area, Seeva would be at the front of the line, ready to depart at first light.

I assumed the Hex Vulnerability wouldn't be but I figured I'd let Halaron sort out the rest.

So, Halaron, do you want Enlarge Person?

Halaron, these are the scrolls I obtained in town, which ones did you want to take first?

Enlarge Person
Hermean Potential
Hex Vulnerability
Ill Omen

Having some success with their ritual, the two discuss possible uses for the knowledge recently obtained while Seeva readies to head out. Come Whiff, let's see how the others are making out. With her familiar keeping pace beside her, Seeva walks through the paths of destruction, seeking the rest of her party.

The witch finds the others either one at a time or possibly catching them all together. Hear anything on what the invaders were after under here? She taps her foot on the cobbled walkway beneath her feet. How about a point of entry for a couple of us to go and take a look? With the tunnel they started during the attack it should be easy enough to predict where they were going..... Unless you figure the locals'd get their panties in a bunch? With or without permission, we need to know what's down in that tomb and I am not satisfied with being told "it's just dead bodies".

Seeva had to spend 3 hours in the ceremony with Whiff so I dont think she's part of any of the groups activities for a bit while she and Whiff sit by their fire. Instead she will make the requested changes to the loot page.

OK, 75% chance to find these, here goes!

Acquire Scroll of Enlarge Person: 1d100 ⇒ 34
Acquire Scroll of Hermean Potential: 1d100 ⇒ 77
Acquire Scroll of Hex Vulnerability: 1d100 ⇒ 98
Acquire Scroll of Ill Omen: 1d100 ⇒ 70
Acquire Scroll of Unseen Servant: 1d100 ⇒ 9
Acquire Scroll of Whispering Lore: 1d100 ⇒ 2

Looks like I found 4/6. Is there a time limit until I can try again or is that it for this town and I can't try again until we reach another?

Ok please let me know what you think of me being able to acquire these:

Hermean Potential - target rolls next D20 twice and takes the better roll - Legacy of Dragons
Hex Vulnerability - target is vulnerable to repeated use of harmful hexes - Advanced Class Guide
Ill Omen - target rolls it's next D20 twice and takes the worst roll - Advanced Player's Guide
Whispering Lore - +4 on knowledge check appropriate to your location - Advanced Race Guide
Enlarge person
Unseen Servant

OK Halaron, got any of these in your book already?

Cloak of Secrets
Dancing Darkness
Ears of the City
Enlarge Person
Hermean Potential
Hex Vulnerability
Ill Omen
Illusory Crowd
Incessant Buzzing
Jury-rig
Lightfingers
Lock Gaze
Natures Paths
Peacebond
Strands of the Tangled Knot
Undines Curse
Unseen Servant
Whispering Lore

OK Halaron, I wasn't trying to be a dick earlier by burning up the scrolls, sorry about that. Lets sort out how best to use what we have. Also, I need to decide if a retcon is beneficial or a waste of time.

The three scrolls I burned are Cause Fear, Charm Person and Summon Monster i. I know I took duplicates of Cause Fear and Summon Monster i so there's no worries there as you have a copy of each if they're not already in your spell book. The other, Charm Person, wasn't a duplicate so Id like to check if you have that or if I should retcon the burning of that one.

The only other scroll I have is Grease and its a duplicate of one of yours already but it isn't on my witches spell list so I can only use it as a scroll anyways.

Of the scrolls you got in the first chapter Tongues is the only one I need a copy of, unless we retcon for the Charm Person scroll. Can you let me know how you think we are best to proceed and the cost I need to cover?

As they return to town, Seeva takes in the aftermath of the battle for Trunau. There were a great many casualties, on both sides, and mass property destruction throughout, but it was clear that the town had been held. For now. Amidst the carnage, the people had already organized the beginnings of repairs and tending the wounded. She remained, as always, fascinated by the communities response to a disaster and how survival instincts drove the people forward.

Seeing immediately that she could bee of much service and in many places, the witch separated from the group and went where she felt the most need. With better than basic healing skills, she began stabilizing and strengthening the worst of the injured, helping them last until they could receive the care of the clerics. As she tired, she would guide those still helping until her strength returned enough to resume her tasks.

Both inside and outside alike, although she was not suited to hauling the injured, her help was indispensable as she had other uses for the spells at her disposal. Temporarily reducing a persons size helped both the teams retrieving the injured people and the ones making rescues of people burred in rubble or under large immovable objects.

Seeva worked to exhaustion. When Durin headed to have the conversations with the locals, bringing them all up to speed regarding the recent events, she retired to Whiff's company for the evening. She went to a small secluded corner of a ruined building and made a small cookfire suitable to make some hot tea and sit in front of with her familiar, going over the days events and discussing the new magics they had discovered. All the while, Whiff walked circles around the witch, smelling but not being able to find the treat he knew she carried.

As they talked, the witch began working through the preparations of their ceremony; the ceremony which allowed her familiar to learn and absorb the magics of some of the items she had acquired. The ceremony, one of her most basic, consisted of burning a scroll and collecting every last piece of ash. This time, doing three scrolls, she would have to take care that none of the ash from one mingled with another. As usual, that part went fine. Next, to her familiars delight, she took the rabbit meat, acquired earlier, and formed it into three meatballs. Now each meatball had to be opened slightly, ash inserted, and then be rolled in the remaining scroll ash. This was done three times, one meatball for each ash pile. By the time the preparations were done Whiff was ravenous and had no issue putting all three down in short order. The witch had to concentrate now to finish the ritual and complete the transfer spell; the hard part.

Learn Cause Fear (DC 16): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14
Learn Charm Person (DC 16): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
Learn Summon Monster i (DC 16): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21

All three scrolls are destroyed in the process, Cause Fear is the only one not learned.

The witch was past the point of exhaustion and her familiar was satuffed, both now fully readied to enjoy a rest by the fire.

Just Testing.
