Bandits of Immenwood | Before the Dawn

Discussion! I'll already have your most important information, SFS numbers and the like. Beyond that, I have a few questions.

Does your character have either of these boons?

  • Acquainted with Datch (Ally) (Pact World Warriors)
  • Big Win against Big Potion (Slotless) (Cost of Living)

Also, it could help to have an up-to-date set of botting preferences and dice expressions for your character. As this is a special, we'll be moving at a brisk clip, so it will save me some time if I need to bot anyone.

Hello, all! I already have most of the information I'll need for your Chronicles. But feel free to roll Day Job checks, and please mention anything special about your character (boons, important non-CORE options).

    Good to have you here!

You have been summoned to the Grand Lodge of Absalom. More specifically, Master of Spells Sorrina Westyr's office. The shale-skinned woman smiles at your arrival.

"Pathfinders! Loath as I am to say so, you are bound for Bloodcove. If you have any purchases to make, perhaps something to keep you cool in that devil-melting heat, please come back when you have made them." She holds up a scroll bearing obvious marks of teleportation magic. "Your trip will be swift. I hope the joy this brings will offset what's to come."

    Introduce yourselves!

So, I've been building a new PFS character, an Ecclesitheurge Cleric who will eventually take a level or two in Monk. Basically, someone who is unable to do almost anything with armor on.

Tooling through spells recently, I rediscovered Instant Armor. I thought it might be a funny way to lock down my character in case of mind whammies or something similar. Paired up with a casting of Contingency, it could be worth a chuckle. But I was wondering, can I dismiss the spell when the threat has passed?

    Ecclesitheurge's Vow wrote:
At 1st level, an ecclesitheurge makes a vow to his deity to protect himself solely with his faith, not with armor or shields. An ecclesitheurge who wears armor or uses a shield is unable to use his blessing of the faithful ability, to use cleric domain powers, or to cast cleric spells.

I can't cast spells while wearing the armor. But can I do other magic-related actions (such as dismissing the armor) while it's blocking my magic? I assume the answer would be the same as for the same situation in an Antimagic Field, but I don't have evidence there.

Looks like we're getting ready to start up. I have everyone's PFS ID, but if you roll Downtime checks here, that would be great. No need to do this until after the briefing, but if you already know your slotted boons and free school items, put those down too. Please spoiler the boons just in case.

Hello, all! If you could put down your standard PFS info (player name, PFS ID, Day Job rolls), that'd be swell.

    Hello, all!

    Really, Spoilers:
So, Valrar here has just completed the scenario, and is now stuck in the Rasping Rifts, its newest master.

Master of the Rasping Rifts wrote:
You devoured Deskari’s heart, becoming the new immortal master of the Abyssal realm known as the Rasping Rifts. Deskari expected you to serve him as his loyal steward, but he is not strong enough to command you from his grave. You will be unable to leave the Rasping Rifts for several centuries, but the direction the realm takes is now in your hands. This PC is permanently retired from play. However, he becomes a legal deity for your future Pathfinder Society characters. Include a copy of this Chronicle sheet with the records of any PC who worships this PC. You grant access to the same domains and favored weapon as Deskari.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------

Most of the boon is pretty straightforward. For the purposes of worship, Valrar grants the Chaos, Destruction, Evil, and War domains (though I can't pick Evil unless I used a workaround), and his favored weapon is the scythe. But my big question is: what is his alignment? To illustrate, Valrar is Chaotic Neutral, which didn't change upon becoming a demon.

If we use Deskari's alignment of Chaotic Evil, that limits me to making CN characters who channel negative energy/give profane bonuses. If we use Valrar's, they could be CN, CG, or N, and could choose their energy type (unless they were CG, in which case it'd have to be positive). Does anyone have a clarification on this? I have yet to find any. Thank you in advance!

    Character Name:
    Class/Level:
    PFS #:

The four of you who posted in Flaxseed have spots. I'll pick two more if there's that much interest, as many people as possible should get into Core games if they want to.

Do let me know if you have anything out of the ordinary character-wise. Or if your schedule is at odds, and you'd rather not start right away. And of course, here's to having some fun together!

Hello, I briefly asked about this and was directed here.

I'm trying to report some PF2 scenarios under a friend's event, as we've been using it for our face-to-face games for some time. He seems to have added me to those who can. But it doesn't show up in my events. When I try to access the event from a link in Sessions, the page doesn't load (but this happens with most of those such links).

Here are the relevant screenshots I have; I can take or ask for more if needed.

A Pathfinder expedition has uncovered hitherto unknown levels in the Red Redoubt, a millennium-old siege fortress created by the machine-mage Karamoss. A source of Numerian technology in its own backyard piques the Society’s interest, yet informants in the redoubt speak of an aggressive contingent deep below that aims to reactivate Karamoss’s powerful forges. Can the Society salvage the fortress’s treasure while also preventing a catastrophe that could crush Absalom?

Good question! We won't know until I get the scenario and the game starts. But until then, feel free to introduce yourselves, as much or little as you like. We've got some spare time.

At the insistence of the gnome Venture-Captain Sebnet Sanserkoht, you stand in Nexus House. In Quantium, capital city of the magically powerful Nex, it obviously lends itself to some strange and awesome magical design. Though smaller and second to the Grand Lodge, its architecture puts even the foremost Pathfinder lodge to shame. Even the massive hallway of an antechamber! A waterfall flows in reverse from the floor to the ceiling at the end of the hall, framing a marble statue of a bookish middle-aged Taldan man tenderly holding the hand of a smirking Vudrani woman with a long, thick braid of hair.

Hello, everyone! I already have most of your pertinent information, so if you could do a few things for me:

  • Sound off if you've played The Commencement on this character, and whether you got the Star Sugar Heartlove boon from there (no need to slot it)
  • Slot your boons! There will be starship combat
  • Roll Day Jobs
  • Be prepared to have fun!

@Mustachio: Looks as if you'll be out of tier, if you're okay with that.

@Ears: No worries, I trust you.

Each of you have received a summons from the leader of the Exo-Guardians, Zigvigix. The instructions inside weren't clear on what to expect, only that it was urgent. They have guided you to a renovated warehouse in the Downlow, next to an art park.

Bandits of Immenwood | Before the Dawn

Despite the early hour, the Grand Lodge of Absalom is already bustling with activity. One of the few quiet places is just outside Venture-Captain Ambrus Valsin's office, where you now are. Old Mutton-Chops sent for each of you with little notice, and is now taking his time to finish whatever he is up to and open the door.

Rather than a Pathfinder Lodge, grand or otherwise, you have been summoned to the tiny Frostchild Inn in Turvik. It doesn't look like much, but the little place weathers the constant freeze this close to the Crown of the World. You now stand with several others in Venture-Captain Bjersig Torrsen's room, larger than most others so as to serve as an office. He, and at least one other special guest, should be making an appearance shortly.

If you post here, it'd help to mention if you came here from my last game or from the Cottonseed Lodge. I'll know, but it lets others who plan on signing up in on it as well. If there are any questions, please lay 'em on me.

    Sovereign Court

Bandits of Immenwood | Before the Dawn

You have been summoned to Nexus House in Quantium, the capital of Nex, at the request of gnome Venture-Captain Sebnet Sanserkoht. Following Absalom's Grand Lodge, this was the second such hub for Pathfinders ever created. As befits the nation's love for magic and the builder's vast wealth, it bears all manner of strange luxuries.

Easily noticeable among them is the waterfall, which lies at the end of a 30-foot-wide entry hall with vaulted ceilings. It flows upwards from the floor, framing a marble statue of a bookish middle-aged Taldan man tenderly holding the hand of a smirking Vudrani woman with a long, thick braid of hair.

Hello, assorted people! If you're reading this, I assume you might be interested in playing Arclord's Envy. Well, this is the right place.

Most everything I need to know about you can go on the sign-up sheet (which is here if you missed it), so if you have questions for me, feel free to ask. It'll be beddy-bye time for me shortly, though. It'd also help to dot into Discussion and talk among yourselves, figure out who's who in terms of murdering and talking to people.

    Shadow Lodge

So, okay. I've been working on a tabletop role-playing game of late, and a month or so ago I had the idea to seek advice on these here boards. I can't improve it much more, and the small circle of people I amassed IRL agree that I should reach out. Still, I've gotten a lot done with it, and have a bunch of Google documents full of stuff (though they're a little jumbled). In the past week I've sweated over a stupidly massive post I wanted to make here, mulling over what about it was good or not. But then I figured it would be prudent to do an interest check first.

The big question, then: Is anyone here keen to look over what I've made, and give their opinion? If so, I'll put up my best version of the big post and share my documents for viewing. Any input would be appreciated, even/especially on what could be improved (a few of my pitches have been to myself, and were just, "It's fine, me. At least for now. You can improve it later, move along.")

Very Brief Description of Game and Setting (my big post and documents will give more detail if we have interest):
Well, a quick observation is that it's...weird. The world was long since abandoned by the god or mage responsible for its creation. Though that was before all living memory, we know it has become much more chaotic, likely due to lack of divine upkeep. A cobbled-together planet of many disparate species and climes, where magic is drawn from orbiting dimensions and tears tiny holes between them. It's mostly magic and old-timey weapons, with some modern things but more concepts (like big corporations) than technology (the occasional gun). The gameplay should be reasonably simple.

I figured we would be high tier, but now that we're down a level 3, it might be up for debate. Now we have a 2 and a 3, plus a 1 who could play a pregen. If you wish to, you can also change characters.

Hello, forumites! If you are here, I hope you're interested in PFS scenario 8-05 Ungrounded but Unbroken. This is a tier 1-5 adventure, which I will be running in Standard mode for 5 or 6 people. Anyone who would like to play, please express your interest by posting here with your preferred character.

Given that I'm about to go to sleep, I will be recruiting via a lottery method, though I believe I'll also hold 3 spots for newer players, to PbP or PFS in general. If that is you, make sure to say so! If you're lying...well, I don't know, maybe it'll plague your conscience, I can't punish you for it short of not letting you in. Just don't lie, okay?

Hello, forum friends! If you are reading this, you are probably interested in a run of the two wonderful Before the Dawn scenarios, The Bloodcove Disguise and Rescue at Azlant Ridge. There are six seats, one of which is reserved. This is a tier 1-7 scenario, and our reservation is likely playing a 2, which means we will probably be playing low(er). For the sake of simplicity, I will be taking the first five people to express interest here, and we will start as soon as everyone is ready!

So it is known, the first scenario has a lot of social and sneaky elements, as you are trying to remain inconspicuous. I'm not saying you shouldn't play a table of barbarians (it worked surprisingly well the first time I ran Bid for Alabastrine) but it is something to keep in mind.
