Loam stays silent long enough for one to reasonably assume she'll keep to it. But she speaks. "Goblins," she repeats. "Unsavory creatures. Some would attest to their potential otherwise. Like my companion, I harbor doubts. I fought enough during the Shadow Lodge's incursion on Absalom."

"But for what possible reason would they have been given relevant information?! They will not learn. Simply point them at what you wish butchered!"

I have played and GM'd once each, so I'll definitely be deferring to others.

Kazikli has good healing. He prefers to attack but will probably fall into the support role most often. I took a scroll of heal as one of my free items.

I usually default to the healing potions for my free item, unless something else is really useful. Like my pickaxe-wielding goblin barbarian would do well with an owlbear claw.

The hunched half-orc watches Lusinel as if from a distance, though he is but several feet away. His ancestry is almost in question, as he wears an all-concealing red robe and mask. The mask, however, sports the ridges and massive tusks of his people, and looks to slide over the features in question, making it a hassle to don. The robe bears no symbols and has a sandblasted texture. From what little can be seen of his arms, he is well-muscled. Most of his gear lies in a bulging backpack at his side, save a staff over the other shoulder and a flute held like a deadly weapon.

"Kazikli," he rumbles in response to the elf's introduction. He makes no bow-adjacent moves and continues standing. He speaks again when Lusinel is done.

"Do you ask to deflect the same question from yourself? It matters not, I will answer. But it would behoove you to likewise do so." Kazikli's voice is louder than expected from behind the mask, but not confrontational. "My past is not storied. I come from the River Kingdoms. I was grudgingly raised by a human parent, but that was the extent of it. I learned nothing and could not progress. Confined and without direction, a connection formed, and I became part of something greater. I recall little more of it. I tossed the man aside and went out to improve myself."

"I have since walked my own path, travelling. In Belkzen and the Mwangi Expanse I learned more of both myself and the world - the worlds at large. I heard tell of the Society, and their efforts on the Plane of Air. Seeking to go there, I joined. However, by the time I had become a full-fledged Pathfinder, they no longer had any need to go. I must now make the most of my decisions."

We do report it ourselves. This here link should do nicely. All players (including the GM) roll a d20; on a 19 or 20, you win a boon! If this is PFS or SFS, winners roll d3 to see which one they get (listed in order on the reporting sheet). You'll need to put in e-mail addresses for winners.

"Fascinating," Imrahil says to Reckum, with very little sarcasm. He then launches into his own story with the tone of something rehearsed often in one's own head.

"I'm from the River Kingdoms, but have lived in a fair few places around Avistan. Universities, mostly, in attempts to teach me the ways of magic. Those never took, and after years of it, my parents showed me something." He neatly hooks his glaive over his chair so it rests on the table. It looks normal enough, if quite well-kept. "This is Parathma's Downfall. The weapon of my ancestor, 15 generations ago. Completely mundane, it was used by her to slay a great evil by the name it became known for.

That's perfectly fair! One of the main parts of the character I already tend to avoid, actually. I see how it could make anyone uncomfortable, whether directed at them or otherwise, and steer clear of it. Only time a character of mine was ever hit on was by an NPC. I think it was part of the scenario, race-based. That one was funny because I was playing a socially inept Kalistocrat.

Zapp is Chaotic Good, though he shouldn't be. Chaotic Neutral or maybe Neutral suit him better, but there can be no Neutrality here! And thanks for the compliment!

Arnold is a character I made trying to one-up a friend in terms of weirdness, but is played pretty straight. He's a (Eldritch Guardian) fighter 5/brawler 1 with a medium-sized familiar he rides into battle. It's a wallaby. He usually fights with a lance and shield, but carries a wide variety of weapons for any situation.

In a drastically different time and place, Arnold and his classmates were learning about black holes, and the theory that they led to other realities. Straying too close, however, their Supernatural Education Vehicle®* and everyone aboard fell victim to the attentions of some otherworldly entity. Sucked through and ending up on Golarion, Arnold found himself comprised of the black hole's shadowy material. His teacher's soul had been shoved into the body of an animal and his friends were nowhere to be found. He doesn't tell anyone about this for obvious reasons. In fact, he's all but put it behind him and has adapted well to this new world, fitting in as a mercenary. He still likes to learn and prefers solving problems without violence, but realizes he isn't as well suited to either anymore.

Venture-Captain Ambrus Valsin finally opens the door to his office and drops a small stack of papers on his desk. “Agents, I appreciate your willingness to meet with me on such short notice.” He takes a moment to reorganize the papers into a neat pile and catch his breath before continuing. “Now then, we recently acquired a relic known as the Inheritor’s Clasp — or rather, one of our agents infiltrated a cult of Rovagug worshipers and stole it. History says that Iomedae dropped the Inheritor’s Clasp on the day she entered the Starstone Cathedral. According to old Arodenite accounts, the clasp might function as a powerful holy relic, though that theory has yet to be proven conclusively.

“I received word from our infiltrator’s handler, an alchemist by the name of Inisa Ardaali, that she was preparing to take the clasp from Katapesh and deliver it to the Grand Lodge for further study. Inisa is a cautious sort by nature. Considering the manner in which she acquired the clasp and the potential interest of...other parties, Inisa determined that it was best to use discretion in bringing the clasp here. As such, she traveled to Diobel, where she hired a caravan for the final stretch of the journey to Absalom. However, we recently received a missive from Inisa sent from a safe house in Diobel. Take a look.” He hands over a surprisingly weathered scrap of parchment.

Probably would've been more climactic if you hadn't known about the curse at all or read this upon entering the first time. Ah well.

The two robed figures beckon everyone to link up again, and in an instant are returned to Bjersig's office. The one in gold gives a quick nod to the Venture-Captain before both disappear once more. The half-orc himself eagerly listens to your report.

"1300 AR," he says quietly, absorbing the detail that seems most interesting to him. "Regardless of anything else, that's quite the find. And it is historically significant, to boot! I'm not well-versed in the exploits of Amatatsu Aganhei, but his name precedes him as an explorer. I don't recall this venture among those most famously attributed to him."

"Either way, there is likely much more history to be found at Dvalinheim. We owe our thanks to both Ogthup's crew and yourselves. You've done an exemplary job."

@Zordox: It's a white dragon.

@Thorax: I'm not sure if this was intended or not, but I've been ruling that it's okay to rouse things you've knocked out with healing. Asleep and unconscious are different conditions and it'd be a real pain for you otherwise.

The dragon manages a scoff at the first two's questions. Despite the situation, she's almost as haughty as normal. "They're just sleeping. Heavily, I assume, as they don't get much. Looks as if you haven't noticed, but the secret is the waking up. Do that, and the magic infusing this place hits you. Makes you tired as long as you stay.

"Now as for my charade," she says, turning to the next questions and chuckling, "That was fun. I found this place a few years ago. The spoils were paltry, but I knew a bit about this Dvalinheim and saw an opportunity. Disguised myself as a risen Thremyr to trick a few giants in the surrounding area. I sent them out to raid and tell other tribes their god woke up. Soon enough, I was heard of by giants as far as the Rimethirst Mountains, and they all sent me treasure out of fear. And yes, that's what this is all about, spear-ears, gold. Don't pretend you don't have your vices!"

Her grin widens to an infuriating size upon being shown the tablet. "I wouldn't know - I don't do Jotun. I was worried that would put holes in my scheme at the start. I'd been learning from my inner circle, who were in on the ruse-" her tail gestures to the congealing giant corpses, "-they wouldn't tell, either I'd kill them or we'd all be dead. And I'll admit to some fault in the lessons; I don't take well to learning from simpletons and that must scare them senseless. I do know a few important words, though-" She mangles the pronunciation of something in Jotun, probably an expletive.

"But you said you left one alive? A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one. How about we wake him up? I'll come along, as Thremyr, to ensure he cooperates."

Blue's been out for a bit, but fortunately...

A number of things happen in quick succession. Thorax stabs the dragon again, causing her to totter, the fight knocked out of her. He turns his leer to the giant, who lets out a hilarious shriek before taking a downing hit from the elemental. At nearly the same time, yet another explosion hits, taking both foes to the floor.

The dragon, as befits her kind, shows remarkable force of will at still being alive after the onslaught. She could probably be revived (after subdual, of course). The same can't be said for any of her followers, who are slowly melting as the steam rises and ice reforms.

Combat over! Good job, team!

Doesn't look as if anyone else has it, so I'll proceed.

Akrandu realizes he isn't actually capable of talking to the elemental, and joins in with Zordox and Miladistra to figure out how best to kill it. From their joint knowledge, it shouldn't actually to resistant to conventional damage, although it is quite dodgy. However, upon being struck, it will disperse, unable to be targeted for a few seconds until it reforms.

Just to make things easier:
Figure I'd put this down so it's easier to get. Important to note that it's a reaction, so it can only happen once per round.

Disperse:
Trigger:
The air elemental takes damage from a hostile action.
Effect: The air elemental disperses. Until the end of the current turn, it can’t be attacked or targeted, doesn’t take up space, and deactivates its aura. At the end of the turn, the elemental re-forms in any space it can fit in within 50 feet of where it dispersed, and its aura reactivates.

Pre-combat magic is doled out, and Thorax, ever helpful, expedites the fight by emptying his garbage into the pit. He isn't seen coming, but the aftereffects are definitely noticed. The placid air becomes severe, practically given voice and a body. Seconds later, two earth elementals rise up from the ground swinging! Stone spikes rise from the terrain around them.

Feel free to throw out any more buffs you'd like before the fight, just mention it.

Continuous Effects (please read):
High Winds: 40' around the air elemental is difficult terrain for flying creatures without the air trait.

Spike Stones: 10' around the earth elementals is difficult terrain. For each such square you move through, take 1d10 piercing damage.

Fun Elemental Things: This might be a bit annoying to run in PbP, you'll see what I mean shortly. It might cause problems for dedicated melee people if the circumstances line up.

Auran:
"What the Hell is this?! Wait here for a day and pour mystery meat on me? They'll never find your bodies!"

Oh yeah, the roc was affected by Goblin Song. The snow here is quite light, so I might reduce that reduction slightly.

Miladistra manages to escape, but falls as a result. Arkrandu gets a good hit on his captor, as does Thorax. The goblin's ride is on the brink of passing out, if not dying outright, and still aflame! It's also getting scared of him, which should have set in much sooner.

Blue Talon vs. Miladistra: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (4) + 17 = 21
Damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 5) + 10 = 16

Blue Talon vs. Miladistra: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19
Damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 5) + 10 = 16

Thorax stubbornly clings onto the roc, against all odds. (Whoever wrote those likely didn't know him, or many goblins in general.) He stays aloft, managing a solid stab through his ride's thick hide. The others concentrate their fire on another bird, but it avoids some of Zordox's lightning and Arkrandu's shots bounce off. The youngest, its own goblin meal snatched, swoops to grab Miladistra.

Zordox:
I think you can use another verbal action to activate Elemental Tempest when you cast an an appropriate spell, and then discharge it as a reaction later.

Arkrandu's divine fire sears the roc, but doesn't expose it as being particularly blasphemous. Miladistra barely manages to escape her captor's clutches and blasts two others with still more electricity. Harry slips to safety and Thorax crawls in the opposite direction, escaping the talons and crawling every which way but failing to hurt the big bird.

Red Reflex: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25

Ooh, woke up to some things. I can clarify, just to make this easier: The "trudging through frozen wastes for a month" segment of the scenario is a little hand-waved, more for roleplaying how miserable it'd be. It's assumed that the temperature will only go below 45 degrees (F) under select circumstances, signifying mild cold levels.

Also, you can buy anything you can afford here at the inn.

"Both'a those sound pretty pricey - and scary," Ogthup chips in. "I wouldn't trust anything but my feet to get my wherever needs getting to."

Should ideas for expediting the trip be brought to the Venture-Captain, he is quick and curt in his answers. He responds from behind a half-closed door, just in case any goblins take his talking as an invitation back in. "Such an expense isn't quite justified, not simply on grounds of inconvenience," he says. "We know the terrain and route to your destination. Right after the solstice is the best set of conditions we could ask for, even if they aren't luxurious. I can only ask you to see the mission through and let us reimburse you handsomely - be it in knowledge, coin, or whatever else you desire."

Sure, why not. Although you'll only get one piece of information with that roll, let's say.

"The wind? It was pretty much the same as the rest. Cold, but not too much. It filled the whole hole upward and then a bit outside!"

Meanwhile, Zordox's mulling leads him to remember a landmark not far from the Eye of Thremyr. Rather than a man with a bird, the goblins likely saw an inuksuk - a hundred-foot statue made of cleverly-stacked boulders - from far away. One around that area, the elf recalls, was dedicated to an ancient giant chieftain known as Emkarak the Conqueror. And if the bird looked as small as the person to Ogthup, it must have been massive!

Yeah, it will be. I'll create it and put up links in here and Cottonseed once I start recruiting. Still don't know if Lysle wants in, so I'll send a PM and grab 2 or 3 others depending on the answer. Will mark this thread inactive soon after.

Edit: All right, new thread is here.

Reflex: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20

With Ngasi's new form proving hard to hit, Arkrandu and Thorax are barely able to strike her once each. She dodges the worst of Zordox's lightning, but then Fumbus capitalizes on her move, managing to squeeze in a lucky blow. With a screech that changes to a cry of pain as the Arclord's body shifts to match, she hits the ground, covered in wounds but unconscious, just on this side of the Boneyard.

Her apprentice, who had looked ready to rejoin the fight for all the good it would do, raises his hands in surrender. With Ngasi incapacitated, it seems as if he really means it this time.

Combat over! Will post further once I get up tomorrow, am full of melatonin and pork rinds and it's 1 AM.

Buse looks skeptical of the bulb and the archaic form of medicine it represents, but isn't one to talk. She accepts the gift gratefully.

"We should be able to drop the ghoul off a law enforcement agency before returning to the Venture-Captain. She has little more to offer us."

Arkrandu tears right through the elemental with a well-done stroke. It too explodes, singeing him and the others before he manages to put himself out.

Arkrandu, Fumbus, Trofimir: Reflex:
Same as last time. More fire, more fun!

26+: None!
16-25: 2
7-15: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5
6-: 10

Meanwhile, Keeamah does not look so convinced by Thorax's proposal, nor his promises. She seems more concerned looking for an opening to duck by.
