Excellent -- I missed that this was posted!

I acted as the Line Developer on this book with Andrew Campbell, and its a pretty interesting class that he did a lot of playtesting, etc. for.

Its a prime example of that homebrew "thing" being made into a published product.

As a big fan of the Classified lines, I'm curious as to what this class does mechanically. I like the idea of skirmishing, but as a consumer I'd love to hear about some of the unique class features that makes the wind warrior the wind warrior.

So, for those of you who had the misfortune of missing our Kickstarter, we have been developing a rather insane book over the last year (you probably noticed a drop off in our releases too). It is called Gonzo 2 and it is a bloody party.

Gonzo 2 is the sequel to Gonzo. Both books focus on non-tradational genre inspirations, humor, and esoteric design principles for advanced players. This monstrous 419 page book includes:

  • A section on improvisational roleplaying and GMing.
  • 18 New Base Classes (Architect, Atomic Adept, Battle Butler, Chess Master, Chimney Sweep, Croupier, Davatti, Dynamancer, Guide Henchling, Henshin Hero, Magical Girl, Monster Cowboy, Multiman, Phantom Thief, Sparkle Princess, Thread Maiden, and Ungermaw)
  • 37 new archetypes
  • 44 new feats (including combat styles, general, class support, and metamagic)
  • 5 pieces of adventuring gear (like the metal jaw- because you always wanted to play Jaws from Bond)
  • 6 new materials
  • 5 new drugs (including “squee!” And “experience”- this is bat country afterall)
  • 22 insane magic items (including the cans of talking, insanity drive, talky bullets, necklace of best friends, and head pot of adequate trash)
  • 14 new ways to enchant your weapons
  • 3 new specific magic armors (including the aptly, if not verbosely, named “Oh Dear Mother of God Why Would Your Do This” Chain)
  • 28 pages of GIANT ROBOT RULES. Yes! You can play GIANT ROBOTS in Pathfinder now!

*Pants heavily* Ok... I think I covered it all. Did I mention this beast is 419 pages? (1 cover, 1 credit, 3 OGL, 414 of content). Mind you every second of this book is dripping with Gonzo weirdness. And there are literally more pieces of art in this book than pages. Bizarre, weird, offbeat (one might even say... gonzo...) artwork. Guys- this is a book we have been weirding out over for the last year +, I promise you won’t walk away without...

  • As a Backer for this I can attest to its greatness and Gonzoness.

Hi there I love PoW and your psionics products so I'm very interested in this as well.

Though I have a question is there any central design mechanic that runs across all the "monster classes" ie manuevers and stances from path of war, that distinguish your monster classes from other third party publishers. A good example to compare would be rite publishing's In the company of series.

The monster classes in here are closer to what we saw in the 3.5/3.0 Savage Species. Essentially it's the same monsters you see in the Bestiary books, but they're broken down to individual levels.

    Wow this sounds fantastic.

I'll most likely pick up the WIP next week.

Is there any information concerning releases you could share?

Hello fine folks at Black flame studios, I was hoping I could get more elaboration about your product.

I liked the flavor of the imprinted arm, but over all it seemed unfinished. I'm very curious about how these awesome classes function and what makes them unique.

Thank you for taking a look and have a good day.

So if your still giving out free copies I would be interested. :)

I wanted to wait to see if the fine folks at flaming Crab Games continued the trend, but I as well would be interested in any free copies given away.

"Solar Wind maneuvers may only be performed with a weapon in the bow, crossbow, or thrown weapon groups (see the fighter weapon training class feature)."

This seems to read as Maneuvers can only be used with those weapon groups.

" Steel Serpent maneuvers can only be used with throwing weapons, piercing weapons, slashing weapons, and unarmed strikes. "

the same can be said for Steel serpent in this regard.

One quick question, I know some disciplines have restrictions when using their maneuvers. I.e Solar wind and maneuvers being usable with only a bow or thrown weapons.

Does Riven hourglass or Elemental flux have either restriction?

    Loving everything about this class

What would be involved in such a review? I have no formal experience with it but consider myself a half-way decent writer.
I'm always interested in free product though~

Honest appraisal, if a friend wanted to drop $6 on this would you tell them not to bother or would you recommend it as being worth the money. Elaborate on this for 1-3 paragraphs... (not everything needs to be a book report style.)

If you're willing to do that PM me your email address and I'll get you a coupon link from Drive Thru RPG.

@Malwing I'm not counting you, and I already sent you a copy...

    2 spots open.

Hey I have reviewed you all before and I'm certainly up to the challenge of doing it again for you.

Hey it seems the link for the Antipaladin guide is busted. Just wanted to inform ya.

How well do these classes and weapon work using standard rules instead of the alternate rules included in this book?

I couldn't wait for the WIP to be up. :D I hope all of the classes are on par with the mystic it is so beautifully designed.

I can't say Inspired by Avatar the Last Airbender, and Jedi for legal copyright reasons in advertising. So no, just the Avatar/Korra series.

Still I always wanted a Bending Class and anything Jedi. What other types of classes does the full book have ?

    Amora Game wrote:

Just the base class in this pdf, due to its size.

There are 3 archetypes and a feat or two in LIC, which is also on its way this week.
I meant to set an embargo date on this one and have the ala carts all at once.

However, consider it an early present. :)

And yes Alex has dibs on new work.

Is there anything else "anime inspired" in the full book?

So I bought the Edgewalker and I really like the flavor of it. I just didn't like the execution.

Besides that being a martial class, and this being a spell caster class what other notable differences exist between the two?

Does this class have multiple casting modifiers? Like the Edge walker did with certain way points?

Does the Antipodist Radiant Shadowmage have its own unique spell list?

And can we get a fun combo or two we might be able to pull off?

    MINE CAME!!!!

Last thing I expected was to get my downloads on a Saturday! Also this is not making all my prep for Gencon any easier.

Now all I need to know is if I can have a CHAINSAW in pfs and I am set. I have a 2-handed qlippoth fighter who I wanted to have a chainsaw but was about to settle for the gnome pole.

Come on Mike! Make my dreams come true!

You made me believe I got mine tonight :p

My hopes and dreams dashed ;)

Well I didn't preorder so I have to wait till Thursday :(. Super Excited Though.

People please tell me how amazing is the Power Armor? The Lasers? I must know for Science!

I'll just use my two handed bombard blade's explosive mechanism. Let's seem them make that concentration check.

What? No Quake-style nailgun? Sure mechanically it might not do that much, but it is every kind of awesome.
I feel like this is basically a descriptive element that doesn't need mechanical support. Unless you have some thought on what it would do that's special?
Detonating Nailgun. Or have it have exclusive elemental properties. Acid nail melts armor/skin reduces DR/makes them vulnerable. Lightning nail allows you to nail multiple targets and when they are adjacent they take damage from conducting the lightning. Ice nails are pretty much icicles and targets gain the staggered condition from the cold.
[emphasis mine] There was the copper spike ammo listed upthread (Lindley Court I think posted it) that conducted electricity...

Right I saw it earlier today. I think I listed an arc gun earlier with the same idea minus the spikes. I'm just defending your idea by offering a small sample of possible mechanics a nail gun could

Also I think we have this but a possible blindsense/lifesense scope so we have amazing sniper rifles.

They Crystal gun can shoot exploding shards that deal bleed damage. At later levels the crystal mod can on a failed fort save (or massive damage?) possibly explode, or deal a debilitating blow.

I have lost all geek points for missing that reference. I am shamed.

Just found this thread so here we go

    1) Minigun. I need to make a magical element shooting minigun.

    2) Freeze ray for incapacitating targets ala Mr.Freeze

    3) Bola gun

    4) Flamethower attachment

    5) Mine attachment to shoot out mines or sticky grenades ala the demo from TF2 or with the magical power source Halo's Plasma grenades/ Incendiary grenades or New Forerunner grenades.

    6) injection gun. For my Alchemist/ Gungineer

    7) Positive/negative energy option

    8) Multiple Barrels to shoot different kinds of things all at once!

    9) Nuclear Bazooka/ Beam Bazooka

    http://www.mahq.net/mecha/gundam/0083/lineart/RX-78GP02A-atomicbazooka.jpg

    10) An Arc gun. As in it shoots lightning that zaps to other enemies for reduce damage like chain lightning.

    11) A noob tube. in case I wasn't clear above.

    12) A charge system/ a system to shoot out raw energy blasts that is Dragonball levels on the anime scale. Nanoha's Starlight Breaker is a great example of this concept.

    13) Smoke grenades or smokescreen shots to obscure vision

    14) Funnels. They are remote controlled small drone like units that are mobile and shoot enemies for reduced damage.

    15. Scanner augment to gather information.

    16. A gravity gun that deals bludgeoning damage/ remove debris or hold someone in place. Both a non lethal and lethal version or picking up random object and shooting them ala the kinesis gun from Dead space.

    17. Lets shoot out Sawblades/magical saw blades for dismemberment.

18 The Ion Cannon. Also the Bass Cannon.

    19. An enchantment gun. To give someone a friendly Zap!

    20. I really would like to see the Gungineer either make like a battle suit that integrates his guns and augments into his body or makes a battle suit like Iron man.( Most likely not suitable for this class ((see what I did there)) but food for thought for the future.)

We considered the idea particularly with bombard blade of just doing it as a separate weapon. There was quite the debate and 2 versions made, we ultimately ended up with the call that the weapon was intrinsically a part of what made the archetype cool.

As to the alternate classes being split out as micro lines- I'm going to try it with our Warlock and maybe Gungineer will be the second. What we'd do is simply represent ti on it's own and add feat and option support. Possibly even an archetype or two if it makes sense. There's a cavalier option coming in the next book that would be really sweet to mix with gungineer so perhaps we'll have to do a prestige class that elevates both.

    Warlock getting love. yay.

Thanks for the review SACplayin! I'm on my phone right now, but a quick reply on the chambers question: the table for the bombard blade does have a capacity column, those would be the chambers.

I could totally do a book on just this as a new class. I had other abilities that I ultimately cut before presenting to Frank and the gang.

I also want to do a book or line someday dedicated to converting FF characters/jobs/classes to Pathfinder.

    Thanks again for the review!

Well we have Squall and can make a Barret esq character with the Gungineer. So you're off to a good start. Just don't forget about other great JRPG's like legend of the dragoon. I would love to make a rounds/day dragoon form centric class.

    Malwing wrote:

I assumed that the Bombard Blade's capacity described how many chambers it had but I can see how that isn't obvious.

That's two reviews saying that Gungineer should have been it's own book. Your move.

Personally I think Bombard Blades and Gungineer guns should just be a new type of weapon enhancement as an alternate to magical enhancements but I don't know how popular that would be.

I looked over that table 8 or so times and didn't even see the capacity column. I must of just missed it, I suppose I was blinded by my idea of a bombard blade eventually using gunkata.

Review is up great job as usual guys.

Thanks for your review, SACplayin. I'm going to take a look at the Temptress and see if I can't clear up the issues you noted with saves and the removal of the condition.

Gunslinger wil, in fact, have an alternate class. I'll PM you with a bit of summary to whet your appetite. Gunslinger was handed off to layout this week so you'll see it probably in early July.

Edit: oh, it looks like you don't have PM's enabled. Hrm.

Fantastic the ruling on those abilities were pretty vague and I think having beguiling gaze be a swift action should clear this up.

Also if you guys ever get into the market of making base classes, a class based off of the flavor text of the Foul Temptress would be a very good idea.

My powers of deduction led me to believe so. Well i can't wait to see what you do for them. Gunslingers are one of my favorite classes and I hope the alternate class (if there is one) isn't another swashbuckler. The ACG's will be hard to top.

Review has been posted, great Job. The only thing that needs a bit of clarity is the Foul Temptress. Otherwise please tell me your going to be releasing the Gunslinger next.

Review has been posted you guys did a great job.

I have a few questions about the Warlock variant class.

    1. Are the weapon and armor proficiency the same as the oracle? Your content makes no mention of them.

    2. Is Eldritch blast modified by any metamagic and should it be considered a spell since it uses all of the rules of spell casting, without calling it a spell. This is also another vague area.

Other than that this is an extremely fun class I love getting a revelation at every level.

So Is there anything missing or drastically changed about the Archetype since it was published in Convergence Paths: Fey Archetypes?

I must know if I'm missing out on anything by only purchasing The Reveler.
