Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Would Tim be so kind as to close this out?

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

I have no objects to just ending it.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Night time action for Riff, would be get some sleep.

Rum helps, Fortitude Save 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (14) - 3 = 11

-these I have no trouble with lol.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

I am positive that Ondir fell over board now. We still interested in this thing?

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Night time action is to locate and sort of track Chaulky Tarroon. Does she join the rest of the crew for a meal? Does she take a rum ration? Is she better looking than Riff?

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Did the turkey goblin eat Ondir or is it just me.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

The latter, that's what a poison taster does.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Riff none to excited is able to get out of bed this day (1 of her 6). Still sore from the cage. She is grumpy and out of shorts. But there is no rest for the wicked and Lucky Sea B*tch has very wiced plans.

Job-Swab 1d6 ⇒ 5 Runner - Acrobatics 1d20 + 7 - 3 ⇒ (2) + 7 - 3 = 6, Constitution Check 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19. She is slow and dragging her feet.

Diplmacy to gather some infromation - 1d4 ⇒ 1 hours to gather, Diplomacy (asking Grok, Maheme, Sandara, and Conchobair only) who is the poison taster on board? 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Ode to a cricket.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Doing a bit more research here...for some reason I was remembering her as only being 2nd level. I see that she is not.

This just in Sandara can cast Lesser Restoration. So I just get to roll till this is over and if she isn't around, well.

#So on the first day of her treating Riff she casts it

Once 1d4 ⇒ 1
Twice 1d4 ⇒ 1

Bring Riff to 8 of 10 Con. Adjusting (Fortitude Save 1d20 + 4 - 2 (5) + 4 - 2 = 7, by +1 , still fail still doing 2 Con damage.

6 of 10 Con.

#Next day - more lesser restorating.

Once 1d4 ⇒ 2
Twice 1d4 ⇒ 1

Bring Riff up to 9 or 10 Con, yay! Adjusting the above (Fortitude Save 1d20 + 4 - 3 (5) + 4 - 3 = 6) by +2. Still a fail. Doing 1 damage

8 of 10 Con

#Next day (cross your fingers)

Once 1d4 ⇒ 4

Bringing Riff to Full Con. This is the day she does good. No adjustments needed. I made it even through the negatives.

#Next day Sandara is knowing Riff is doing better she stays by the bedside and continues to cast Guidance. When it runs out she casts it again. It being an Orison she can cast it as much as she likes.

Adjusting this (Fortitude Save 1d20 + 4 - 4 (3) + 4 - 4 = 3) by +4, +1 (3+4+1=8). Still a fail. Still doing 3 Damage.

7 of 10 Con.

Casting Lesser Restoration

Once 1d4 ⇒ 2
Twice1d4 ⇒ 1

Let's not forget the Dexterity damage that has been building up. A total of 4d3 ⇒ (3, 2, 2, 2) = 9

From 12 of 16 down to 3 of 16 Dex.
Full Con.

#Day Number 5
Lesser Restoration on Dex Once 1d4 ⇒ 1
Guidance on Riff over and over and over...
Adjusting (Fortitude Save 1d20 + 4 - 5 (6) + 4 - 5 = 5) by +4, +1 (6+4+1 = 11) I made another...blink...blink...hoping for another.

Casting another lesser restoration on Dex, Twice 1d4 ⇒ 3

6 of 16 Dexterity
10 of 10 Constitution

#Sixth day of our trail, and remember the campaign is still going. I have no idea were the ship will be at 6 days from now.

Heal check 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 2 = 11 using the sixth portion of the bag, if there is still one left in six days.

Riffs Save 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 1 = 17

Woot! finally free of the disease.

Casting Lesser Restoration, two times on Dex 2d4 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7

13 of 16 Dexterity.

and at this point I stop. Six days later in the voyage Riff proves that luck is often proven after long hard work.

DM, Let me know if any of this problematic to the campaign and I will adjust the scores accordingly.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Tired of waiting going to jump ahead

Going to assume that there is some care taking going on, for sake of arguement I will put Sandara as the healer, with the kit.

Heal check 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 2 = 17 Gives me +4

Riff's 6 of 10 Con. She is in no danger of dying from the Dexterity damage so I am foregoing traking it. Fortitude Save 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 - 2 = 7 Damage 1d3 ⇒ 2.

Heal check 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 2 = 19 Gives me another +4

Riff 4 of 10 Con. Fortitude Save 1d20 + 4 - 3 ⇒ (5) + 4 - 3 = 6 Damage 1d3 ⇒ 1

Sad very very sad...

Heal check 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 2 = 18 Gives me another +4

Riff 3 of 10 Con. Fortitude Save 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 - 4 = 17 Damage 1d3 ⇒ 2

Wow I made one...lets hope for two.

Heal check 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 2 = 11 Gives me another +4 (just made it)

Riff 3 of 10 Con. Fortitude Save 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 4 = 3 Damage 1d3 ⇒ 3

So unless I healed a point of Constitution for complete bed rest during the day she made her save Riff is dead. So lets roll that now just in case.

Heal check 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 2 = 22 Gives me another +4

Riff 1 of 10 Con. Fortitude Save 1d20 + 4 - 5 ⇒ (6) + 4 - 5 = 5 Damage 1d3 ⇒ 1

Just isn't ment to be by the look of it.

Edit - as I have no idea what will unfold during the game 4 or 5 days of game time I can say that Riff would not get out of bed for anything. IF they forced her she wouldn't have any choice, but let's say there is a combat. Then it is important to remember that she is slowly decreasing Hit Points. She starts this post at 6/8 and goes all the way down to 3 HP. As fun as it would be in table top to play this I have no interest in waiting 3-4 weeks to find out. It looks like its going to take that long just to get through 4-5 days of game time. If it were PnP it would be over the course of a few minutes.

So in short of divine intervention or one of these selfish pirate bastards pouring a cure disease potion down her throat about day three there isn't any hope that I see.

I suppose I will wait and when Tim gets back he can PM me details of how a new character can come on board. I don't rightly see how, but it could happen.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

For me, Riff is taking no daytime or nighttime action. I am just waiting for the chance to roll the fort saves. By the numbers it's looking grim. Potentially it could be pulled off, but if I fail the next save its very unlikely that I will make two in row before failing another. I am half tempted to just get it over with. Unless anyone has a better idea to help other than the heal checks to aid I will just cut to the chase and roll them.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

I get ya Tim. I just don't see Riff getting up. I wouldn't

Rum- Fortitude 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (9) - 2 = 7

Slamming down the gut rot with narry a word she goes back to a fit full sleep.

I won't be posting a nighttime action or a daytime action other than Poison checks, put will wait to see what the IC morrow brings. The following nighttime action I will post an IC post.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Oh ya huh, duh. Thats what I get for posting to early in the morning, before coffee.

Taking back the reporting for chores - she wouldn't even be able to get out of bed, well she could but why would she want to.

hack, hack, hack...shiver, groan...Let'em fraking whip me!

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Racked with pain from oh so many sources Riff heads to her hammock, not Kith's. Ondir finds her their moaning in her fitful sleep. She awakes with a wince as he touches the rat bite wound, moving for her dagger. But she sees who it is and lays back down.

What in the Nines do you want?

Though soon his intent is clear. She writhes in pain as he cleans the wound, and really is a wimp about the whole affair, but she thanks him all the same.

Thanks! IC and OOC

Rolling the Filth Fever saving throw for the following day, as Riff will take no nighttime action. If someone rouses her for her rum ration she takes it down with out complaint.

Fort Save Disease Treated down to 9 Con 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 4 - 1 = 10

Edit for the failure - Oh and the above 9 was as Kevining it as I ever want to be. This is worse...and really funny!

So when Riff wakes up and isn't very lucky at all Constitution Damage 1d3 ⇒ 3, Dexterity Damage 1d3 ⇒ 1. I am assuming that a nights rest gets rid of the -6 Dex from the Sweatbox. There is no set time when the disease hits so I just say in the morning because it makes sense.

6 of 10 Constitution 6 of 8 Hit points -2 Fortitude. My HP tracking is all messed up at this point. When she wakes she casts Cure light wounds, just to shore up any stuff I forgot.

12 of 16 Dexterity -2 to AC, Reflex, and related skills.

Hey at least I am at four damage for both.

She looks freaking terrible when she stumbles on Deck for work in the morning. Green around the eyes, red buring cheeks, sweating though she is wearing next to nothing, dirty, puss running down her arm from the reopened rat bite.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Riff twiches, eyes fluttering, then opening.

A couple of sneezes rain on the Half-Elf, and Riff looks completely ashamed.

Ugg ss-orry. Yess it's nice to have ssoome alone time. It's ssoo ka-ka-cold in here. It's like to snow. Aren't you freezing?

Belting back the rum 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16 without a second thought. Maybe it will help me warm up

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

When the look crossed his eyes after the slap Riff doubted for second that he may be to thick headed to catch the point. But when his hands locked around her throat she new that all was well.

Hot with fever and a carnal passion Riff smiled a cunning, hard, and cruel smile. One part predatory cat the other lovely wanton.

As he took her, she whispered back Ay, but not all theirs, mine is better by far.

Laying on her back underneath 'her' warrior she noticed the storm coming in.

Sweet mother of storms, punish the wicked unbelievers.

looks like the sweatbox is more like the sweetbox

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

I damn near Kevined that! Have fun with it Kith!

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Groaning when the elf pulls her to him, she is blazing hot with fever. Various cuts have turned to scabs, the viscous rat bite on her arm stinking and festering.

Uh, what, Aunty ? she says with dry parched lips, blinking repeatedly.

Oh, Kith. Good ta'see that yer up, F*CKER! the slap is fast catching Kith unaware and while it connects with a loud pop it leaves only a sleight red mark. hoping that a bit of fluff and assumption is ok

As fast as the slap lands Riff twists in his lap and grasps him into a hung. Oh I didn't me ta do that. Last night, well I am sorry for that too. What you said after you refused me ma’gold. I just couldn’t take it. I’m a-sorry I drew my knife on you. I’m a-sorry that I was so wroth that ya had to slap me wit’yer pummel. I knew that none of that mattered when ya crashed into the Officer's Door and the bolt slammed you in the chest. Thanks be to Ondir, he managed to take control of the situation, and heal ya up. Forgive me my love. It’s just this damn ship, its doing something ta us. It’s making us crazy. Please don’t ruin us by being mad at me.

The speech is froth with subtle clues, queer shifts of speech and odd touching. Odd touching for Rith would be something in a non-sexual or flirting nature.

Using Bluff to convey a secret message – DC 20 for a complex message. If I fail its up to Kith how he wants to proceed. If I fail by 5 or more the completely wrong message gets delivered. Naturally if I make it Kith will get the message. I will be ok with ever wacky thing Dustin comes up with for Kith to believe. Others can listen in and check with Sense Motive to get an idea of wants going on. Oh and looking back I don’t think Ondir rolled a Bluff check, it seems like he should seeing how we are indeed lying. Up to Tim I guess.

Bluff Check to Pass along a Secret Message – the message being tour little story, to cover his a$$, and to follow along stupid 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 1 = 13

Kithranna wrote:
Let's move on tomorrow so I can .. still ... be .... unconscious. damn

Seconded, though Valen was due the spotlight as was Antal.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

See if I can’t Sc…Scc

The next thing Riff knows is that she is in the dreaded sweat box! It’s already terribly hot.

I shouldn’t have healed that pointy eared half breed. Scourge isn’t the only one practiced with whips around here and when we get out, he is in for some pain! She smiles knowingly Little f*cker may like it.

Looking at her minor wounds she sees that the bleeding has stopped and promptly sneezes as the on coming cold reminds her that it’s on the horizon. The action of the sneezing seeds Ondir’s love tap to throbbing. Riff is glad he didn’t knock any teeth loose. Not feeling terribly lucky she lays down, trying to catch some sleep before the real heat sets in.

Least he is alive.

I know there is a bit of time lapse here, but it works. She would heal a bit just from sleeping. In that way Riff has 3 of 8. Riff would wake up well in advance of Kith. Nonlethal goes away much more quickly than real damage. And unfortunately I don’t think a sweat box is the right place for getting your spells back. It doesn’t seem like that would make sense.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

In the quagmire that is unconsciousness Riff floats back to a screaming woman. Dark of skin, blind in one eye, and mean as a starved pig Aunty screamed when ever the soft hearted girl was bad. Sleeping in was the worst thing you could do in the morning. The little ivory skinned girl over slept, often.

Wake up you twit, lest I beat you again, Aunty yelled!

Riff jumped awake, stumbling and knocking over the end table near her bed. The cabinet teetered then fell, chipping a corner and denting the floor.

Aye, what’s that you clumsy little b*tch. Now the master will come down on us both. the old woman growled.

Riffelan flinched in anticipation of the blow, closing her eyes. Dodging her blows was easy enough, but it was worst than sleeping in.

My little knife is just under the pillow. She can’t beat anyone if her throat is cut. the child thought.

The blow came down with a hollow WHACK, straight across the collar bone, closed fist. Aunty hit the girl so hard that her head bounced off the floor.

When she awoke the girl found she did not know where she was. It took her several minutes to recognize that she was under her bed. Dry blood caked her lips, her shoulder and head throbbed to the beating of her little heart.

Aunty was years dead now. Who had killed the woman Riff thought as mother? Some little soft thing holding a tiny knife.

Is that pounding my heart or Aunty’s, mocking me from her black seat in Hell?

Scourge’s boots clomped down the last few steps.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Riffelan swoons, with her last thought.

F*ck, not in the mouth!

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Stealth Check 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

Looking around The Lucky Sea B$~++ silently prays that her name sake holds true.

No, I don’t think that’s a plausible plan, unless you can reset the trap this fool set off. What we need here is two scapegoats.

Riff rolls the half elf over striking a few tiny cuts on the backs of his hands, shoulder and forearms. These light cuts do a bit of damage 1d4 ⇒ 2 and elven blood flows again! But she quickly staunches it with another (her last) cure light wounds spell. Pirate Queen protect us in our skullduggery. 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4.

She then takes out Kith’s blade and cuts her right forearm, doing 1 point of damage. Smashes her forehead with it’s pommel 1d4 ⇒ 2 damage, and finally slashes across her cut, ruining her clothes and doing 1d4 ⇒ 4 damage.

Now bleeding and ragged she puts Kith’s knife in his limp hand. The she turns to Ondir Ok, seamen now it’s your turn. Remember the story is that you found us fighting so you took us both low to sort out the details. I will say that he reneged on his payment for assorted favors and I was taking my payment in blood. Things got heated and we crashed into the door setting off the trap by accident. It’s as like to keep us alive as anything else. Assorted as this will become they will have to kill all three of us and I don’t think they can afford being so far out down three crew.

If they don’t believe me, and they simply put Kith and I to the sword mayhap you will earn there good graces. Now draw your steel and slap me with the pummel!

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Riff goes a little whiter when she hears Ondir's whispered tale.

She rushes over to her fallen friend,Is he a lover or a bottomless purse? using her lips to deliver the spell she kisses the bloody wound.

Cure Light wounds 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 Healing Damage to Kithranna.

Have yet to cast any spells this day, it being the day after we fought the rats as far as I can tell.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Ouch in deed

Perception 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 4 - 2 = 15

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

absolutely pick up the healers kit

Ondir spys Riff scrubbing away, pausing she wipes sweat away with her sleeve. Shaking her head in frustration she has a ragged look about her. Though it could be just the work.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

I still believe we are on the same day I was fatigued from swapping the decks and when I made friends with Maheem. With the listed roll for filth fever and Ondir’s bonus I still failed the save by one. Ready for night stuff.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Riff gives a petite little sneeze while still holding Antal in a gentle rocking hug. Keeping one eye on the fight, ready to begin singing and inspiring Valen to heroic heights. She winches as the Halfling comes in contact with the bite wound on her arm, oddly not fully healed even after the spell. Taking a closure look she recognizes the tell tale signs of a nasty infection.

On, no that’s not good

I doubt I will be able to actually post the day of the first onset of the Filth fever or in some timely fashion when every one is posting for that day/nights actions, so I will just post it now

Riff finds Kithrann’s bunk and hunkers down in with the half elf. After a few minutes of play she falls to sleep and grows to be an uncomfortably warm bedmate even though her teeth clatter with the chills.

Fortitude save 1d20 ⇒ 7

Dex Damage 1d3 ⇒ 3 Con Damage 1d3 ⇒ 1 13 of 16 Dex, 9 of 10 Con dropping me to 7 HP of 8.

She does not get out of bed in the morning.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Seeing the club secured the Lucky Sea B&#~! winces as Valen takes the solid blow, not even taking the time to button up her shirt she sees Antal stumbling towards the rail instantly she rushes over.

Somebody must have hit the rum a little too hard

Planting a kiss on the halfling’s forehead and wrapping his neck in a hug. Attempting to spin him around to face the opposite direction.

Ye gods he is burning up!

Come dear, let’s ignore all this travesty of a boxing match and head down below. I heard tell that someone has some candy down there.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Sense Motive 1d20 ⇒ 8

Failing that Perception to see what the others are doing

Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21.

Seeing that the others are near Plugg, or watching him at the very least, and for sure hearing the club thump down. Riff, steps up on the rail of the ship towards the back of the crowd. A minor strum of the mandolin, and she yells out,

Harken those who will have a look!

Ripping her shirt open she exposes her full shapely breasts covered only in a thin lace. She begins dancing about the rail, holding onto various ropes.

Fasinate! DC 13 Will save to avoid.

I hope they understand that if they are going to pull something now is the time

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

@Maheem, Aye lad, I would think nothing of the kind, merely there are not nearly enough good tidings on the ship

Aye those loins only stir of the musky smell of man flesh

Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

How great it would be if Antal took him, though I doubt he could do it.

Riff pulls out her mandolin, and takes a seat. Gently strumming the instrument to check for tune.

Who decides the winner or is it to knock out, pinning, or yield?

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

With a mild tickle at the back of her throat Riff wakes in Kithranna’s bunk. She checks her hides, then heads to work.

1d6 ⇒ 3grapping her rocks she hums a little tune, thinking of all the people she hates on this ship, Strength check 1d20 ⇒ 9

During a water break she spies Maheem again. Aye that filthy bastard. Might as well try again.

Hey tall, dark, and handsome. Why do you feel so threatened by me? I tell you what, when you grow to like me I will give you a kiss. Before then why don’t you tell me more about yourself.

Diplomacy 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 1 = 25

Heading back to swapping, she doesn’t feel up to it. At the end of the day she is bushed and flushed.

Swapping the decks took more out of me is all.

day one of two before...filth fever yay! lol them wooerz

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

First up Perception check to see either one of these louts free their rum 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

well that's that, so I will ask ooc, what happened to the plan?

Stealth check to keep her Rum ration, putting it in her water proof bag, tied hanging on her bunk 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

Night time action to Influence, going to try and get Maheem on my good side Diplomacy 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 8 + 1 = 13.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Aunty always said that your temper is bound to get you in trouble, mayhaps now it finally has. Motaku, huh, I wonder what’s there?

Knowledge Local to remember any details about the isle 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Thanks for the compliment Tim. Sadly when we are at a table we typically default to the bar scene. Not sure if you know, but we all live in the same town and RP together once a week or so. Lewis wanted to play Skull and Shackles but we had no room in our schedule. Personally I find sitting at a table one of the hardest spots to get into character. Sitting down with all the distractions of the gaming table is a big disconnect.

All ready for night actions

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Boy lover! Ay Plugg take me over there, you’ll regret it

As smart of a decision as ever you made Plugg. with obvious scorn.

Send an archer in for melee, why not. By no means put her in a place that will do some actual good. Yet I will wager that enemy ship is a dangerous place. Full of all kinds of terrors that all manner of ‘men’ fail to walk away from. Wouldn’t it fair better to add the rest of the Scourge’s Cat Slayers to the vanguard. That way perhaps you will kill us all in one fail swoop.

Where upon she spins on her heals and heads off. Ignoring Plugg’s retort, though she’ll hear it just fine. Casting cure light wounds on herself as she storms off 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6.

day time action
Let’s figure out where we are. Casting Know Direction. Then after speaking with a few of the crew members Knowledge Geography 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 1 = 27. Followed by a weather prediction with Weather Savvy, as I know from casting the previous day for this day, now I can learn what it will hold for tomorrow.

Sometime during here she will tie up her rat hides, to dry.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Oh for love of hell! Plugg, if you weren’t the precious First Mate I’d slap you. I am beginning to think that the only reason why we were taken aboard this frightful ship is to serve as your entertainment. Otherwise I warrant that it would serve better to have murdered us ashore as apposed to these rampant torments. I am use to serving to the frightful needs of men, but these lads.

Gestures to the Antal, Ondir, and Kithranna.

Aye these lads are not the type to enjoy that kind of a thing. They and I grow angry by these never ending torments. We came to Port Peril for a reason, we are pirates. We live to loot and pillage, to take what we want with iron. Every single command we have obeyed, never balking at even your slightest whim. We are loyal and skilled and even want to be apart of the crew, but it is you that stands in the way. Aye put us through our paces, make us prove that we are just what the kinds of people you want on the crew. I would do no less. But do take the relish of your enjoyment that is the knife in our backs out, it smites terribly.

Diplomacy Check attempting to shift his attitude 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 8 + 1 = 28

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Riffelan, taking her skins, rolls them together and begins quizzing Kithranna about how to tan hides.

it's a very boring conversation so I won't post it slash play it out

She takes from any infromation given and her own basic knowledge that the wind and salty air will more or less dry out the hides, if they are kept out of the water.

With her hides she heads upstairs.

I am just guessing that she gets enough to make her a small vest and loin cloth for a man.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Valen seems hardy enough, though I won’t warrant he has brains, least not that one can tell. The morning they tried to back us into a corner that dark haired elf bound tight as any rope I have seen. A sturdy arm fortified with steel could be of use to us. After our chores are done I will see what I can do to get him outfitted, if we all accord to trust the lout. I believe he was collected into the fold the same day as we were. He is apt to rankle under the yoke as we have.

As for established crew I don’t trust their poison taster. I had a bit of a run in with her. Let’s just say that she sees me something of a problem to her position here. If she could somehow be removed it would serve me better, one less person out to stab me in the back.

I suspect the gnome, Conchobar, is more interesting than he lets on. I have been trying to figure out why he is aboard and am at a loss. Though I have yet to simply ask him.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

]Shrugging. That sounds as much like honor as I have ever heard from a halfling.

To the Abyss, nar I have no intention what so ever of killing the craven b*stard. Though I will mark him in a way that is bound to shake him down to his rotten soul.

We have an agreement Antal.

If your desire is to perform such this eve, give me your rum rations. I will add these to the nightly wine I have been providing and entertain them. Once drunk I will sing them into such a fervor that they will sleep like babes. I will also need some strong backs to fetch a barrel of water. Though if we could but wait till the morrow for such skullduggering I could prepare better, and it would give us more rum to work with, and two barrels would serve better than one.

Plop, scrape, slash, sploosh, another rat is skinned.

Kith's hands are rough like a warrior, but he cleans an animal like a butcher.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Oh gads he dunked himself in that filth. Riff thinks watching Ondir go under the water, turning a bit green.

Picking up the body of a rat she takes an arrow and impales a leg to the ladder. Were upon she begins skinning the beast. Clearly no tanner she makes a bloody mess of it, but gets a serviceable hide, such as it is. Oddly this disgusting task holds nothing for her and she does it with zeal.

Fancy your self a Captain do ya now, Antal? You’re not the only one in good with Grok. Aside for her I have yet to ply my wares with anyone of the crew. It is important in this endeavor of yer’s to remember one simple fact…to give is to get. You seem a worthy enough lad, full of spirit and spite. Lucky for you I credit those highest in what I look for in a Captain.

Scourge is a coward of the highest variety. To those in his power he is quite the sun’o’b*cth. Give him something to doubt and no doubt stain his breaches. Aye a yard of steal in his belly is what he truly needs. I have something better in mind.

Give me your word Halfling man that you will aid me with Scourge and when the trick is up, he is mine and mine alone. If we have an accord, then aye I am your girl. Whatever you need will be done.

Looking around she sees Kith. She makes eye contact and smiles a sultry wanton predatory grin.

All this has my blood up, what say when I get done with these rats we prove Ondir wrong about no private places. Don’t you owe me something?

Picking up another rat, she begins anew. The stink of their meat permeates the Bilge, but The Lucky Sea B*tch keeps cutting.

Oh my, Scourge, you are going to get such a lovely tunic. Fit for a king.

Round 5 Action, Inti 8 or 9...last is what I remember, 5 of 8 HP

Ondir has it right. 6 should have gotten an AoO, and it did and missed because I was fighting defensively. 5 was dead on Kith's turn before I actually moved. Sorry to confuse it.

Mighty breeze heal from the sky...Cure! casting cure light wounds. Then moving up to deliver it to Kith.

1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Round 4 Action. 5 of 8 Hp

Witdrawing from rat 6, through the square with the ladder, to the square beyond the ladder.

Stay were your at Kith old boy . Momma's coming with some healing. Rats? These look more like Scourge's pet cats to me.

Round 3 extra.

I thought rat 5 was dead on round three, he took seven damage from Kith. Kith is before me in Initiative. The bestairy says they have 5 HP, so unless these guys have a bumped Con score or something. If he is, then I only needed a 14 to Acrobatic past 6, who missed anyway due to fighting defense. Ya, I am confused.

Anyway, my attack for fighting defense in Round 3.

Attack 6 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (15) - 4 = 11, miss 1d100 ⇒ 97, damage 1d4 ⇒ 1

Six and five get an AoO on me because I didn't beat the CMD (12) +2 for an addition adjacent creature. I needed a 14 Acrobatics. Unless they are dead before my actual turn. Prays :(

5 of 8 HP

Playa's please post your current and total HP, as a apart of your post, it helps the healers out. I also wonder if we shouldn't label our posts, such as Action Round 1, then post etc.

Can we use Acrobatics to avoid AoO when in difficult terrain? Is the DC just higher?

EDIT: Seems one can use Acrobatics, but your movement speed is still lowered in difficult terrain, so as a halfling with 30' movement, I can move 5' as a move action without provoking an AoO if I can beat the required DC. In this case it would be the dire rat's CMD + 2 for each additional adjacent foe (as Ross said). If, for instance, the bilges had two difficult terrain circumstances (i.e. knee deep water AND slippery surface) then the movement would be hampered twice, making his regular movement 7.5' (rounded down to 5') in which case he could spend a full round action to use Acrobatics to move 5' without an AoO. I hope this makes sense.

Yes it does, I was just counting one diagonal square as three squares of movement. Then only moving half my speed for the acrobatics. In the end it comes out to 1 square, unless you add 10 to the DC of the skill check to move your full move.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Yes you can, though the skill is modified by the terrain, which I did forget to add, even still 'didn't make it' equals 'didn't make it'.

Streaky? You’re 100% on me. Go figure though they have a MUCH better chance to hit me than I do to return.

Bite again 5 of 8, Riffelan begins to wonder if she should run for the door.

Tries to hit 6 again, flanking or not I am adding flanking for now. 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 = 8, miss chance 1d100 ⇒ 27, for 1d4 ⇒ 4

She yells at Kith

Step to your right, in front of me!

If he does Riff, deftly moves to the square he as in previously.

Acrobatics tumbling, but with this its more in like dancing 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

If Kith does not, then the same thing but right in front of 5, between it and the Elf.

Female Slyph Bard (Sea Singer) 1

Ouch, you little f*cker. Snapping her arm back unable to avoid the buckteeth of the horrible vermin. The beast was dragged out of the water not wanting to let go. Ondir’s blade slashed the water where it had been a moment ago. Shaking her arm vigorously the rat dropped back in the water.

Fortitude Save. I am not sure if they actually have filth fever, some Dire Rats do not. To save time here it is. 1d20 ⇒ 1 Onset 1d3 ⇒ 2days.

6 of 8 HP left.

Draping her whip across her shoulders she draws her dagger and in one fluid motion stabs at the accosting rat.

Stabbing Number 6 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 1 + 2 = 15, Miss Chance 1d100 ⇒ 8, Damage 1d4 ⇒ 1

Only 3 chapters in, and I hate that I'm at work now

4/5

I'm starting with a four-star rating because I haven't finished the book, but I have to say, it really grabbed me from the beginning. I started reading it on my way to work this morning and now that I am here (don't tell the boss I'm writing this now...) I wish I had a longer commute.

The main character has a driving personality, and despite being a scoundrel, you can't help but like him. He is like Han Solo - good at being bad, but not evil.

I'll update this as I read more, but so far, I'm hooked.

Now that I have finished it, I leave my rating at a 4.

I enjoyed the cinema-feel to the story, and it was a fun, quick read. Does it compare to epic novel series? Of course not - that isn't what it is about. It is a story told like a movie is watched. It is full of action and flowed well for what it was. This was a nice break from many of the other books I typically read (Steven Erikson, George R.R. Martin, Terry Pratchet, etc.) and I wouldn't dream of comparing it to them. The only thing they have in common is that they have words in them.

If you are looking for a diverting read, set in Golarion, and you want something light, this is a great book. If you only want Tolkien, move along.

A nice, light story

4/5

I have read the other reviews (but not the comments) and I find that this book met all of my expectations, and even exceeded some of them.

I don't pick up every booking thinking it will change my life, and thus, if it doesn't, I am not disappointed. When I saw Godzilla, I knew it was about a big lizard crushing the big city. Thus, I enjoyed it for what it was.

This is not to say this book reminds me of Godzilla...

I found the writing wonderful, and the characters connected with me. It wasn't a convoluted tale, but it was twisty enough to make me look forward to the next page. Recommendations have already been made to all of my gaming friends to read this. That said, I don't know if it would stand as strong against a non-game book.

I have read books by various authors that were written for a game publisher, and I have often found some of the authors' best work to be their own fiction, not set in a world devised by others. I think this is the case here, but I can easily say, if you want to get a good feel of the north, and a taste of Korvosa (this helps when you run Crimson Throne btw), read this book.

The flavour is very different from Prince of Wolves in my opinion. I would say I preferred the writing of Winter Witch stylistically.
