Kithranna |

Kithranna will approach Antal.
Antal, I see you getting along with most of the crew quite nicely. And well I don't know if you notice but I am not. Since we arrived together and you stood with us when those thugs wanted to make trouble, I thought maybe we could help each other out, I'll have your back in any scrape.
Well think on that.
After Kithranna will go to bed.

Antal Wavecrest |

After listening to Kithranna, Antal responds, "Of course, I believe we will all need to come together if we are to survive Harrigan and his lackies. I am working on getting our equipment back, but it is slow going. Maybe tomorrow we can work with Ondir and anyone else willing to help to acquire some more of our possessions. I will let you know. Goodnight, friend."
After finding out about the crew and officer positions, Antal retires for the night. I must speak with Ondir and Riffelan first thing tomorrow.

Riffelan |

It seemed like the Lucky Sea B*tch had been waiting for hours. She always got excited when a decidedly exciting plot came to mind. More over a chance to punish the guiltily stupid cravens of the world always had the same effect upon her. So it was a pouncing, joyful, and dancing woman that Grok laid eyes on when she finally came to the supply room.
Calm down you idiot, this one isn’t all for bubbly joy, she can cleave you just as easy as that fool Elf. Gozreh, Besmara, bloody hell Asmodius thank you, whoever, gave him the idea to back off. A thousand praises that he used good judgment then.
Calming down, smoking the leavings of another’s cigar Riffelan nodded at the Quartermaster.
Good to see you again Grok. Chopped any trees lately? smiling with the jest.
You will find the money I promised you in the tan calf skin purse with the red drawstring. It should be attached to the inside of a quiver with arrows felted in hawks feathers. she said knowing Grok was probably wanting to get to business.
She waited patiently for Grok to fetch her items, taking a peek around the supply room.

Dungeon Blaster |

Grok smiles at Riffelan, if one can call that what she does an attempt at smiling.
Good to see ya, b1tch. Here is your stuff. Buddies of mine get it for free and thanks for the five gold. Have fun with the weapons and gut some landlubbers for me.
She gives Riffelan her complete original equipment.
When you check for your work the next morning, please ignore any "Bilges"-results (deck swabs only). Everyone ready for day five?

Riffelan |

Landlubbers, and the weak minded. Oh Grok how much for that dagger? No the, cinquedea, yes that one. Oh and that knife there on the left?
The Lucky Sea B*tch shells out what is asked for the blade.if any
One more thing Grok, would you happen to have any Oil of Tagget? smiling with a very mischievous grin.

Riffelan |

crossing my fingers, here goes the dandy plan
1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 8 + 1 = 28 regular skill bonus, plus CHA bump from rum still in effect as far as I know.
sweet
Riff certainly buys the daggers. Smiling that dastardly smile she slides them in her sash, hand returning with the gold.

Dungeon Blaster |

Grok offers Riffelan a single dose of oil of taggit for 90 gold pieces.
But be careful girl. The officers' meals are always tested by the captain's cabin maid... just in case you want to play some tricks on certain whip-wielding ar5eh0les...
Starday, 17th of Abadius, 4711 AR - 5th day on board
As you go after your daytime's work, young Jack Scrimshaw rushes onto deck and whispers something to Mister Plugg.
After that, Mr. Plugg gathers volunteers from all over the ship. With an evil grin, he adresses a certain group of newbies: Antal, Ondir, Valen, Riffelan and Kithranna.
Let's assume, that Valen is physically not able to help out, if the stay in Europe prevents him from participating.
You guys. Thank you for volunteering. You will go down in the bilges and not come out until whatever is there is dead. Pun intended.
Visibly proud of his witty comment, he seems to wait for your ever so slightly sign of disobedience...

Hmmm, something dangerous in the bilges. Jack there says he got bit by something big while hunting rats, we might need weapons for this. Mr Plugg intends to send us down there, supposedly unarmed? I though keeping crew alive was important, yet he seems keen to get us killed. Ondir turns towards Mr Plugg and says, "Aye aye sir, down to the bilges to kill something. One thing sir, how do ye expect us to be killing it? The quartermaster is holding onto our gear. We could try to serve it some of Antal's cooking, but it'll probably survive and be mad at us for it. Maybe if we had clubs or something, I wouldn't have to talk it to death."
hopefully won't be sent down unarmed and beaten up

Damn these infernal ropes. I really hate working on these damn ropes. I mean how do they go from being coiled all nice and neat to a hang man's noose. If something exciting doesn't happen soon. I am just going to have to find a way off this bloody boat. I still need to get my father's bow and my mother's book first.
Aye, Aye Mister Plugg. I shall go to the quarter master immediately, and request the gear needed for such an endeavor.
Kithranna will start to head to Grok with an evil grin on his face.
Finally something exciting, something to kill. It has been what a week since I have felt the felt the blood on some creature on my hands, hear it cry out in pain as the death throes take it. This will be, dare I say, FUN!

Riffelan |

@Grok
Em, thanks for the warning. I suspected as much. Keep it safe for me I will be back later and pick it up. Thank you again my friend. I shall think on and remember some more stories and songs for tomorrow eve.

Planting a kiss on his cheek, she slides a blade into his palm, more shortsword than dagger really.
Besides I am useless with a hunk of iron such as that.
simple dagger stats, but you should Wikipedia, cinquedea.

Antal Wavecrest |

Antal wakes up feeling better for the lack of rum in his blood. If Ambrose is awake, I will go talk to Grok about getting some equipment back for my companions. Then we can talk about what's to be done about our situation.

"Grok! How is my favorite half-orc doing today? Hey, I have acquired some coin finally. What would you say to five gold each for my, Ondir, and that half-elf's gear? Yeah, he's got a temper on him but I might need his capacity for violence. Plus, 15 gold can make you forget a lot, eh?"
Diplomacy check with 1st Adaptable Luck 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 7 + 2 = 26

Dungeon Blaster |

Mr. Plugg puts on a false grin as Ondir asks him. You can go to the storage and get yourself a board from the repair-supplies. Use it to smash those things down there to bloody pulp.
As Riffelan and Kithranna meet at Grok's Store, Antal joins them.
@Antal: The money and your clever words will suffice to have Grok give out all the starting equipment for everybody except Valen. Just take it after your conversation with the other two.
As soon as everyone is ready, the four of you can enter the bilges...

Antal Wavecrest |

Right, I forgot Riffelan only got a couple of daggers and not all her stuff.
"My lady! Kithranna! If you two would mind waiting a few while I speak with the quartermaster."
Antal speaks with Grok and retrieves the gear for all but Valen.
"I hear we have an exciting new assignment. This equipment might give us the edge that Scourge hopes to keep from us."
I am ready for the bilges.

Ondir Stormrider |

"Aye, Aye sir. Beat it with a board. I'll get the others and head down right away." Ondir says as he's heading down. Just don't think me defenseless, stupid cur. I just hope the others had better luck than I had. He catches up on his way down, seeing the others on the mid deck. "Ahoy mates, looks like mister Plugg thinks a board to be the right weapon. I don't agree, but I'll work with whatever I have. Any luck? We best be going down to kill these beasties soon though, I think mister Plugg is looking for a reason to whip us."

Ondir Stormrider |

Ondir accepts the bundle of his gear. A quick glance is all it takes to look over his gear, meager as it is. "Aye, this be all that I had before. It wasn't much but it's good to have it back. Thank ye Antal, and ye too Grok. I feel better about going down and killing these beasties properly equipped."
He steps out to the main hold of the mid deck and takes about a minute to don his armor and settles his weapons at his side. "I've missed the feeling of a rapier at my side. I'm all set if the rest of ye all are." He stows the rest of the stuff into his backpack and slings it over his shoulders. I'll have to see about getting a locker, and probably a better lock later.
Ondir is ready for entering the bilges and doing some killing.

Riffelan |

Looking at her ‘crewmates’ such as they are Riffelan couldn’t help but giggle a bit By the way they are fawning over there gear you would think they were making love to it
Boys, boys, had I only known this was what got your blood pumping I would have helped you out. I think we should take a minute to discuss where our strengths lie. I for one can heal a wound or two. I can even shoot with some skill. I am much better at inspiring others for great deeds as I myself am no hero. Toe to toe with an enemy I am useless. Aside from that, I smell a trap. With our ‘masters’ itching to beat someone who is to say what really awaits us. I am sure all we’re going to find is a bull rat grown vicious from drinking rum, but let’s be careful.
Riffelan helps buckle on armor and what not, completely unashamed, as these men are near strangers.

Antal Wavecrest |

"Well, my dear, it is not the actual equipment that excites me but a feeling of control. Something we have had little of since we were press-ganged in to the service of our honorable captain. Regardless, once we are down there I will stick to the shadows. When it comes to actual battle I prefer to choose my spots, usually aiming for the flanks of our foes for precise attacks."

Riffelan |

Fluttering her eyes.
Direct aren’t you. I like your tone littleman. Though honorable is streching the truth so far, I can't even get it down. And I swallow everything. Ondir tells me that he is a holy man, but I have never seen a man of faith with such a slim blade as that on his hip. The ‘devoted’ I a familiar with are either up to there noses in drink or wielding some fancy club. So why the blade my friendly fish?

Ondir Stormrider |

"I don't know much about the captain but some of his officers certainly aren't. Though I agree it's been the lack of control, the gear is just one simple aspect of it and one small gain in that." He turns towards Riffelan and says, "You clearly know little of the Pirate Queen and preferable combat in and on the sea. The Pirate Queen's favored weapon is a blade such as this, thus I will wield the same. My fighting style leans in that direction as well, those fancy clubs are bulky and troublesome. Especially fighting under the waves or in tight quarters one would want a thrusting weapon such at this or a stabbing weapon like a dagger. The sea resists the force one would put into a swinging weapon like other sword or clubs. Though I imagine breathing might be more pressing for some people." Ondir grins as he makes that remark and comments, "I don't have a problem with that particular issue of fighting underwater."
Ondir looks over both Antal and Riffelan and continues, "I'm fine with getting into the fray, but I'm not as hardy or well armored as some are. I have some healing ability, but not as much as a normal priest. There is one thing that's hard to explain, you'll see the effects of it for sure, but be aware that I don't make idle threats of my patron's judgements. I am one of her enforcers and have some authority in those matters."
He turns to look towards Kithranna, "How about you?"

Kithranna |

Well met Antal. I thank you for your kind service and I always pay my debts. Kithranna will put 20 gold in Antal's hand. I believe I owe Mister Plugg a debt as well and I will surely pay him back at the appropriate time.
Kithranna gladly accepts Riffelan's help with the armor.
Riffelan I would like nothing more than to practice thrusts and parry's with you at a later time.
For me in a fight I prefer my bow. But I will stand up and be the front of our team when there is killing that needs to be done.
I say let's be done with this quickly. I would like to have more of that piss water they call rum. So far it has been the only thing worth doing on this boat, except possibly Riff.

Antal Wavecrest |

Antal will go in first once someone else has secured a light source. With dagger in hand, Antal slowly climbs down the ladder to the bilges. He stops at the bottom to get a better look at the situation. I hope whatever is down here does not have a taste for Hin meat.
Perception check 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
BilgesCombat marked with Antal's position.

Ondir Stormrider |

"Anyone got a light, I don't need it but ye others might." Ondir looks around to see if there are any light sources in the lower hold where the crew bunks. Once we figure that out he'll follow Antal down. He'll step away from the ladder to allow other people down and draw his rapier.
Perception check 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
My light source is darkvision 60 feet, and whatever else we find.
Hmmm you can create an image and then add and move text boxes on it with google drive. The Bilges link that's editable. Ondir's position is noted on it already.

Riffelan |

Emm, interesting fishman. They put a blade in your hand you become quite the arrogant pr*ck.
Kithranna’s words bring an honest smile to Riff’s face, and the final jest is rewarded with a snorting funny little laugh. Laying her head on his shoulder from behind Riffelan gives a little hug then smacks the elf on the butt, hard.
Up and att’em boys let’s get down there.
Riffelan has darkvision too. Tsk, did no one pick light as a spell. Slaps Ondir’s forehead, slaps own forehead. Interesting map though, looks like a giant two paged Halfling, or least the link on the google page does. Eric’s link works just fine. Will post were she is later.
Riffelan pulls out her whip. Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

Looks like I owe you something later to Riff
On the way down to the bildge area Kithranna will grab a lantern.
After he is down the stairs he will keep the lantern in his left and draw his Axe with his right.
Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17 Note: If it is an animal that is my favored enemy so I get +2 for perception

Dungeon Blaster |

Thank you so much for doing the work with the battle plan! Really good anticipation! Oh, I forgot: Everyone who has his starting equipment back, gets 200 XP.
As the four new recruits clamber down into the bilges, everything is silent at first. The terrible heat down there makes the skin sticky from sweat, but it seems, that there is no time to complain about temperature.
Through the knee-high water, half a dozen furry things scuttle around and start to attack, hissing and splashing.
Please just roll one check. If it beats the 10, then you may read both spoilers.
Initiative: Rats 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18; Riffelan 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6; Ondir 16; Antal 23; Kithranna 12
On their turn, the rats bite. If your turn is before the rats attack, please look at the spoilers after you decide what to do. Any rats reduced to negative hit points do not attack :-)

Please note, that the water gives you 20% miss chance against the rats. So the dim light down in the bilges doesn't matter much. The water here provides difficult terrain for everyone without a swim speed (so no 5-ft-steps).

Ondir Stormrider |

Ondir watches as the rats ambush him, but they don't score a hit. "Beasts should know their place, I call down judgment upon ye rats." Ondir uses a swift action to begin Judgment, selecting justice.
Judgment: 1/day, for the length of combat Ondir will get a bonus. It's changeable, right now it's a +1 sacred bonus to attack rolls. Sound good, all percentile high is success.

"Filthy creatures! I really loathe Scourge right about now."
Antal stabs at rat number 1 with the dagger in hand while fighting defensively.
Attack: 1d20 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 1 - 4 = 61d3 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + (2) = 31d100 ⇒ 36
Antal growls in frustration from missing the damnable vermin.
His AC goes up by 2 to 18 for fighting defensively.

Riffelan |

Ouch, you little f*cker. Snapping her arm back unable to avoid the buckteeth of the horrible vermin. The beast was dragged out of the water not wanting to let go. Ondir’s blade slashed the water where it had been a moment ago. Shaking her arm vigorously the rat dropped back in the water.

Five points of damage to rat number three.
"Hah! First blood is mine, lady and gentlemen!"

Ondir Stormrider |

Loosing sight of the rat he just attacked as it bobs under the glare of the water Ondir turns toward the other rat just in time to see Antal score a fine hit on it. His distraction rewards him with a bite to his leg. "I think the rats got first blood, but good move there Antal."
Fort save 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Ondir glances between rats 3 and 6 deciding which to strike.
Seeing Antal move into flanking and scoring a good hit, Ondir will attempt to put one of the rats down for good so he focuses his attack on rat number 3 as well.
Hoping to return the hit, he once again strikes out at rat number 6, who is being flanked by Riffelan.
To hit with judgment and flanking; miss chance; damage if hit 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 1 + 2 = 141d100 ⇒ 221d6 ⇒ 2
I believe that's two points of damage, just barely.
There's an error on my character sheet that I just noticed. I should only have a +3 to hit not +4.
Oh, and Riffelan, I think rat 5 is the one accosting you. Rats 3 and 6 have been attacking me.
Ondir is at 6 of 9 hp after that rat's hit.

Riffelan |

Streaky? You’re 100% on me. Go figure though they have a MUCH better chance to hit me than I do to return.
Bite again 5 of 8, Riffelan begins to wonder if she should run for the door.
Tries to hit 6 again, flanking or not I am adding flanking for now. 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 = 8, miss chance 1d100 ⇒ 27, for 1d4 ⇒ 4
She yells at Kith
Step to your right, in front of me!
If he does Riff, deftly moves to the square he as in previously.
Acrobatics tumbling, but with this its more in like dancing 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Antal
Antal moves through the high-water, but the liquid slows him down that much, that the dire rats in front of him use the opportunity to sink their horrible teeth into soft halfling meat:

Wew! These rats do SERIOUS amounts of damage... death of a thousand bites...
With Besmara's aid, Ondir delivers a cruel cut using his rapier to a rat (3 hp left).
Kithranna, most experienced warrior of the four, swings his axe fast and hard and hacks right into a dire rat's neck. The beast goes down instantly, his last sound being a hiss. Blood sprays forth as the axe nearly decapitates the animal, leaving Kithrannas face red with gore.

Ondir Stormrider |

Are we on round two or three? Our last set of posts seems to have been used for the round just posted (3), did the rats get a surprise round on us? The init order is Antal (21), Rats (18), Ondir (16), Kithranna (14), Riffelan (3), I think. So wouldn't rats 3 and 4 have been dead last round (2)?

Riffelan |

Riffelan, moves as above,Fighting Defense, AC 18. Please move her to the square to the left of Kith.
Six and five get an AoO on me because I didn't beat the CMD (12) +2 for an addition adjacent creature. I needed a 14 Acrobatics. Unless they are dead before my actual turn. Prays :(

Playa's please post your current and total HP, as a apart of your post, it helps the healers out. I also wonder if we shouldn't label our posts, such as Action Round 1, then post etc.

Can we use Acrobatics to avoid AoO when in difficult terrain? Is the DC just higher?
EDIT: Seems one can use Acrobatics, but your movement speed is still lowered in difficult terrain, so as a halfling with 30' movement, I can move 5' as a move action without provoking an AoO if I can beat the required DC. In this case it would be the dire rat's CMD + 2 for each additional adjacent foe (as Ross said). If, for instance, the bilges had two difficult terrain circumstances (i.e. knee deep water AND slippery surface) then the movement would be hampered twice, making his regular movement 7.5' (rounded down to 5') in which case he could spend a full round action to use Acrobatics to move 5' without an AoO. I hope this makes sense.
