Horizon Hunters

Actually I'll do both, I can still prepare heal and I plan on taking versatile font at level 2 to split between heal and harm, furthermore I'll go for the medicine skill feats, I lack an healer pack at the moment however

Thank you Ricka. For players unfamiliar with adventure path and Otari, you can access the player's guide at: Link

Very useful info, I think I should work on my concept a little as it is a bit out of there compared to Otari and it's inhabitants and I don't really feel like being an outsider who just arrived, still I'm aiming at playing a warpriest

Horizon Hunters

Not quite sure about background but I'm thinking in a warpriest of Ragathiel

Horizon Hunters

I'd love play pulp chtulhu, I've read a thing or two about orient express but no actual spoiler, as far as I know it involves a lot of travel, I'm a little rusty but I used to favor the mad scientist/mechanic and egghead archetypes from pulp, gotta reread it before doing anything

Horizon Hunters

Yeah, they look underwhelming compared to free scrolls of any tradition

It's kinda amusing how knowledgeable is the thaumaturge even if you don't use intelligence at all, he can potentially memorize formulas for the talisman crafting and know how to inscribe all common spells from all traditions without a spellbook or familiar to keep track of them, not to mention that diverse lore allows him to remember just about anything about any topic.

Horizon Hunters

I could take the talisman Feat to create the prisms for free but I don't like the idea, I would anyways buy a few ones for emergencies to draw scrolls of heal

Yes. You draw the scroll with the same hand holding the Implement.

Scroll Thaumaturgy

You can draw and activate scrolls with the same hand holding an implement, much like you can for esoterica.

Ohhhh that's helpful, I totally misunderstood it x.x

Will look at the prism, gloves and of course the familiar if neither of these looks appealing, flavor wise I mean

Also I'll mind the limitations for empowing and my "free" hand, I'm under the assumption that the scroll "burns away" when I cast from it, so using it right away before anything else should be enough to keep my hand free.

As for ambushes... Yeah they're very common so I'll walk around with my weapon and implement in hand, not too much room for opening with a scroll but that's okay, most scrolls will be for heal or some utility

Edit: common sense tells me that scroll thaumaturgy and gloves of storing should work together but... The gloves state that I need a "free" hand which I don't quite have as I'm holding my implements

So I'll go for a familiar! They're awesome anyways :)

Horizon Hunters

So I'm working on a Thaumaturge, it looks awesome and well rounded if not op in all departments, I'll go for the scroll route for buffs and some healing, that's good but I can't help but wonder if is possible to use them more often in combat, I'm talking about action economy of course.

The idea is entering the fight with a scroll in hand and cast it on the first turn, a buff or maybe a control like wall of stone or something at higher levels.

Now... Let's say in the middle of the fight I need to cast heal or dispel magic for a scroll, is possible to alleviate the action economy of drawing it and then using it? plus the hands issue, I'll have a weapon in one hand and a implement in the other, scroll thaumaturgy let me hold the scroll even with a implement but... Can I draw it with both hands occupied?

I imagine the thaumaturge digging through her stuffs with his hand that also holds the the regalia implement looking for the scroll he needs, kinda silly
Not sure if I need to drop my weapon or implement to have a free hand and properly draw the scroll which I can hold with the same hand that holds my implement..?

So far I think that having a valet familiar is the easiest way to solve this and having a familiar is always funny

Thoughts?

Horizon Hunters

Sounds good, I'll put together my character soon and make another alias and such, kinda new with that on these forums

1. An elderly priest of Abadar is crossing the street to get to the bank. He is struggling, but may be an easy mark for either yourself or someone else. What do you think you should do?

2. You have a giant pile of keys that might be able to open a wooden door that is currently locked. Behind that door is the bounty of your current quest. Searching all the keys may take a while. What do you feel is the best course of action? (The setting you are in for this question is what you decide)

3. A political struggle between two nations may result in a barrage of assaults and skirmishes if diplomats are unable to continue travelling back and forth via caravan. The caravan itself is transporting a chest of gold and jewels to offer as a peace treaty, which just a handful of could see to you being well off! It appears well guarded though by a squadron of troops, a knight, and a mage. What do you believe is the best course of action?

4. You have a body that if someone found you with it, you would get into a significant amount of trouble. Whether or not you actually killed them is not as relevant, as being found with it is where the trouble will be caused. Somehow you have to get rid of it. What would you do?

1.

Can't see anything for me there, I'm a hunter not a thief and while I like money and have no qualms about taking things from others, a certain sense of pride tells me that the priest isn't a worthy challenge.

2.

Wooden door? That's a feeble obstacle, who need keys? I can easily tear it down with my claws, if that's not enough I can easily drop a fireball

3.

Stalk them, strike when they lest expect, the mage must be the first one to fall, if a conflict happens that's good, more work for me, I don't really care about those nations, I just do what I do

4.

Annoying situation, if I must deal with the body instead of just getting away I belive the best course of action is cut it into smaller bits and them burn them, I can cast produce flames after all, if that takes too much time then maybe just cut it into pieces, leaving so bad that people can't recognize him, so he is not important anymore, just a random corpse, sure, people will discover who he is but that gives me time to get out of there

@Ricka Draws Interesting concept. How would you approach the chaotic style with it?

Well I'm looking at the hired killer background, he would be a former killer or bounty hunter, he worked along with some human mercenaries and such but the situation allows him to get away and do their own stuffs, however some of them are his friends (not really) and he has a vague motivation to solve the situation, of course that he'll realize that they aren't as friendly as he initially thought

I don't see him as evil but more chaotic neutral

So, he was a chained dog of sorts but now his chain is broken and he's enjoying it

Horizon Hunters

Hey there, not too knowledgeable about what is the slithering about but since it's for non humans I came up with a silly yet somewhat cool concept

Blade wolf! Hunter automaton magus, a wolf like automaton that fights with his claws doing spellstrike, not quite sure yet but the idea is making it fast, very fast, hunter automaton running on all fours plus laughing shadow's cascade and maybe fleet as well
