Zac steps out of the ship and sniffs the air. He takes a good look around and then returns to the ship.
I'm going to take the hunting rifle and leave the laser behind. No reason to hall both through this swamp.Only carrying one rifle prevents him from being encumbered

Zac then jumps in to help with the tasks.
Medicine for Parasites: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Unfortunately, Zac gets the idea of using a synthetic lube oil as a repellent. The bugs appear to like it! Sigh...
Engineering for Fetid Water: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
Zac adds a rain shade to the raft.
Survival for Herbivores: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Zac helps the others to keep a sharp eye out on the beasties.

I might be able to schedule a block of a few hours to do a VTT, it would depend on the day. I haven't tried a VTT yet, but it might be interesting.

Zac addresses Bat Elf.
"Part of our mission was to secure the outpost. Does handing it over to these people qualify? Not to mention while they are learning, they could unintentionally hurt themselves, or do further damage to the outpost and it's equipment."
Zac gestures to the village.
"I am all for helping these people and establishing friendly relations with them, but the outpost isn't ours to do with as we please. The Knights of Galorian and the Society have a say."
Zac looks at the rest of the group.
"What does everyone else think?"

Zac attempts to repair the front door to the outpost so we can seal it on the way out.
"This should discourage anyone that isn't determined from getting in. Someone could still get hurt in their if they play with the wrong thing."

Seeing the native's hostile act, Zac fires his laser rifle at the native a second time.

More singing? Hmm, Balthazar has a nice voice. This is the most musical mission I have been on. Come to think of it, it's the only musical mission I have been on.
Zac, suddenly shakes his head and sniffs the air.
Hey, I was just dancing a couple of minutes ago. I wonder if it's something in the atmosphere?

Zac is stunned at first as Bat Elf begins her performance, wondering to himself: "When did this mission become a musical?"
He tries too look calm and friendly to the injured alien in case it didn't react well to the performance.

Once the performance is in full swing, Zac's worry turns to "Hey, this is pretty good!".
The moment when Ratatat jumps in as an enthusiastic backup dancer, Zac can't help himself jumps up and joins in.

Once Jinna leaves, Zac turns to Bat Elf and says:
"Well, that was different. Can we expect more musical interludes during this mission?"
Zac suddenly has a worried expression on his face.
"You don't sing and dance during a battle do you?"
Zac will help Ratatat keep watch while others rest.

"You are right it sounds like some sort of automatic defenses. I'm not sure what they would have put in place. It depends on what they thought the potential threats were. I also wonder how resistant their setup is to the electrical storms. It might be glitching."

"When we head for the outpost, we should look for some high ground so we can give it a good visual scan before approaching it. We might be able to determine a lot."

"It's possible they might have something like a telescope. Look at that cycle over there, it has a large symbol of Iomedae on it. They probably got it from the outpost. Who knows what else they scrounged from there."

Zac suddenly notices Rizt and says "Oh, um thank you?" as he smiles and takes the offered bundle of grasses. "Anyone know what these are about? I hope I didn't just accept a marriage proposal."

Zac checks his gear. He changes out of his standard shipboard coveralls and puts on his environmental clothing (radiation) over his second skin. He pops a pair of frag grenades and two extra battery packs into his cheek pouches. He takes his laser rifle out of it's case and gives it a once over, and double checks his laser pistol. He wonders should I take both lasers? He decides with all the atmospheric induced equipment problems, it makes sense to have a backup, and straps on the pistol. He double checks the laser power packs to verify that they are fully charged.

Ready, he heads for the bridge to watch the landing. Beautiful! he thinks as he takes in the lightning dancing around the towering thunderheads as the ship slices through the air, streaming condensation trails off the nose and wingtips, glistening white in the sunlight.

After the ship lands and the team has disembarked, Zac takes a moment to sniff the air, feel the ground and take in the view. Another world! This is why I signed up! Zac takes a tiny vial and fills it with soil from the ground and then puts it away. One more for my collection.

As for taking it alive I don't see a way to do it. That thing is basically as big as our ship, and as Sharmain pointed out, we have no real way of capturing it, nor of transporting it if we could.

I think capturing one would be an expedition in itself. It would require a large ship for transportation, custom gear (ship sized tranq guns?), maybe a second ship to do the capture. Actually, that would probably make a fun adventure (Hatari! in Space).

Zac mumbles to himself: "Hey, whats with the turbulence in the coolant flow?"

Zac calls to the pilot: "Damn, there is something wrong with the coolant flow and the impellers are over heating! I have to back off on the impeller boost until I can clean this up!" Sorry Ratatat, hopefully you can keep us out of that thing's range until I can fix this!"

Zac turns to Bat Elf ”Look at the thermal discharge coming off that thing’s fins! It has too be moving flat out, and it’s topping out at speed ten! I bet we can out run it and keep out of it’s attack range!"
Zac calls too Balthazar as he switches to the Engineering console.
”Captain, that thing isn’t any faster then us, if I can boost the ship’s speed, we might be able to keep out of it’s attack range. I bet our coilgun out ranges anything it can throw at us. If we can hit it a few times outside it's attack envelope, it just might just give up and go home!”
