Andrew, you've lost the bet! I take payment in cash, gold, or your still-beating heart, whatever's convenient.

Did you really believe, even for a minute, that this thread would not prove the need to lock, moderate, and edit threads and thread content?

Even if some few posters did deliberately attempt to derail and toxify the thread, haven't the several dozen other locked, moderated and edited threads, which followed the same course as this one, shown the sea change since the 'good ole days' (and like most good old days, they weren't good for the reasons you think they were good, and they weren't as good as you think they were at all)?

Anarchy in action; it's why even the most civilized people need policing, rules, laws, consequences.

Better luck next time!

Poor Mark Sweetman didn't understand the humor when he watched the girls comic book episode. So I will attempt to explain it.

The girls start out the episode with the popular misconception that comics are just for 12 year olds... which is an amusing and perhaps aggravating real world misconception. But despite their words they end up nerding out just like the boys when they attempt to understand these comic books. Making the joke ultimately ON the girls not on the boys. The episode actually affirms a part of comics appeal and makes the joke at the expense of the popular misconception.

Whilst the lads go off to the desert (well Con#132) and are too enthsiastic to remember to lock their car. Then a car-jacker steals it, with all the non-cosplay clothes inside. Thus they end up at a diner where everyone thinks they are 15 (or nerds) & need their mothers calling - because they are so stupid. To which Howard affirms they are, as he asks for them to call his Mommy.

I just finished watching this episode--I laughed my ass off.

I now realize my superpower: the ability to interact with both nerd-geeks and everyone else.

You are feisty this week. Trying to get another post removed by the Mods?

Yup. Listen to Andrew Turner. He knows everything!

Everything about being a Douchebag.

France and Holland are set to levy a 75% tax on citizens who earn more than €1M a year, discouraging the threshold-rich from continuing to make money by taxing them to the point that their lives are indistinguishable from a middle income earner, no matter how much harder they may work than that average French middle income earner...

Earn €4M to break a cool million (take a very substantial pay cut essentially), or earn less than a million to get about 700K (no pay cut)--I'd be very tempted to figure out how to earn €999,999.99 a year so I could keep more than half of it.

I'm trying to imagine living off the 25% I pay in taxes in the US (which would equate to a fast food manager's salary), but doing the same work (I probably put in 90 hours a week, often work weekends, get called in the middle of the night, etc.).

I think I'd rather be a non-producer, keep more of the money I make, and have more free time for myself and my family.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Now that the Great and Wise Andrew has spoken so definitively on the subject--and indicated that because he enjoys both shows, all of you may happily enjoy both shows--, we may all rest easy and retire this thread; there's simply nothing else left to say on the topic.

What a douche.

No-one is being IM'd or RSS'd unless they specifically chose to follow a particular thread.

If there's a poster you can't stand to read, like that dweeb Andrew Turner, or our friendly space cadet yellowdingo, then just skip to the next post.

Features like a public ignore button or a voting button (or thumbs, or stars, etc) ultimately trend toward users leveraging the feature to inflict deliberate pain and suffering on their peers. We do enough of that with the words we sometimes choose when we write responses.

Now, if the feature were private (meaning only the activating user would know who had been ignored or blocked), that would be a different story.

Just MHO.

Do you have ranks in Zero-G Combat?

That's right--he thinks he's Buck Rogers or something! He types code all day and memorizes satellite trivia! Pfffbbt!

Happy Birthday.

Well, sorry but whatever "logic" you want to try and use it is still pronounced as in OUt, or cOW or BrOWn or whatever. It has been the official pronunciation for a very long time.

And all this time the world has been mispronouncing brOW???? Good try but it doesn't work.

The official pronunciation since at least 1985 has been as in Out.

Thank you, Krome!

While I agree with Andrew Turner's esteemed logic (always without fail, is Master Andrew!), I believe Lord Gygax developed the word out of the Gaelic. He chose to pronounce it to rhyme with 'cow,' and so it does.

OMG!!!!!!

You always agree with him even when you don't!

Gygax also spelled Legendary with a 'j'--

Anyway, whatever Andrew Turner says, just do the opposite and you'll be OK!

Any chances of Paizo getting some signed editions for sale to we unfortunate few who cannot attend the Convention?

As much as I detest Andrew Turner as a Human Being, I like his idea.

Dear Gary or Vic,

Andrew Turner has annoyed me to no end this past quarter, and I demand his immediate censure and dismissal from the Paizo community.
