Raziel will stand near to Setomi, ready if either healing or combat is needed.


Setomi, I think we are in the room furthest north, and there are no more stairs up.

"Let's check out the smaller doors first."


"Then we go back up? And take the stairs upward to the upper floors, or choose another path on the ground?"


"Any prisoners would be below, that is true. Lead on Setomi."

Any news of Sorin?


Raizel cautiously steps forward into the room.


Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26

"Yes, a faint whisper...'blessed be the liberators'?"
Raziel takes a half step back, and holds his holy symbol ready. "Knowing that tragedy befell this place, there may be a haunt here."


Just touching base, to say I'm still here and still want to play.


Standing by as you work and finish your thesis.
I'll be waiting.


Sounds good to me too. We make for the North door to see what we can find.


"Which way shall we proceed? Through the portal that the 'oni'was trying to flee, or another path?"


"I could, but it would take time," Raziel replies. "Ameiko is still missing, and we do not what other creatures still lie in wait for us."

Raziel steps over to see the shapechanger, and releases another bolt of Sarenrae's fire.

Move to K3.
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 3 - 4 = 17
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7


Raziel moves to keep the red faced man in sight, and fires another bolt of fire at him.

Move to K4.
Ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 3 - 4 = 11
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7


Since Raziel is 10' away, he doesn't get an attack of opportunity.


Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14


I should have learned my lesson from the goblins, but Raziel still wants to hope for the best.


"Sarenrae offers mercy to those who repent," Raziel replies, "But those who spurn or betray her offer are destroyed without remorse."

Raziel also holds his action.


Raziel moves towards the red-faced man, and raises his hand.

"Feel the wrath of Sarenrae," he intones, loosing a bolt of fire at the foe.

Move to J8.
Fire Bolt (ranged touch attack): 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 3 - 4 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3


Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Raziel blinks the glitter from his eyes, and stands ready to strike at any foe that comes near.


Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

Raziel fails to save, and steps backward.

5' step to M11.


Raziel steps forward to the next foe, and attacks.

20' Move to L 10.
Attack the foe in K 9.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8


Raziel casts Bull Strength on Sorin, as he requested.
Then he makes sure that his scimitar is ready, and steps close behind Sorin.


"Best to confront the evil while we are at our strongest," Raziel comments. "Sorin, I have a spell that will increase your strength for a brief time, if you want. We can cast it before we enter the fight."


Raziel casts Light, and steps forward to illuminate the passage.


"Remain with us, Setomi. We do not want to get seperated here, where we could not come to each other's aid."

"Where is this secret door which you spoke of?"


Sorry for missing my turn. I've started work at a new place, and I'm trying to get in sync.
I'm still reading though, just finding it hard to anser fast.


"I hear something from around the corner of the castle, to the northwest. Gather round, and we can meet it here on our terms."

I'll be at P5, near the secret door.
Hopefully, Ill end up by everyone else.


Perception Check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29


"That sounds like a reasonable path to take currently. Shall we go?"


"Best to unbar the outer doors too, Sorin, in case we have to make a hasty exit."
Raziel channels to heal his companion's minor wounds.

Channel: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9


Raziel will follow Sorin down the rope, taking care not to fall.
Once at the bottom, he will examine Almar's and Setomi's wounds.


"They seem to be expecting us at the gate. Mayhaps we can get further in by following along the wall, which these creatures do not have seemed to think of yet. And it would be difficult to bring our numbers to bear on them if we went in through the trapdoor."

Raziel gestures down the wall lengths on either side. "Do you have a perference as to which way to proceed?"


Raziel will take 10 to climb the rope.

Raziel declines to look through the trap door, instead moving to the edge of the outbilding and looking across the walls and ramparts.


If there is something up there, Setomi, you will need extra blessings to avoid its attacks, either to hold while we climb, or to retreat back to us. This should aid you either way."

Raziel casts Shield of Faith on Setomi. "This will only last for a few minutes, so do not delay."

Shield of Faith grants a +2 deflection bonus to AC for 1 minute/level.


Raziel will also follow Sorin towards the castle.

"The others are being watched by Spivey, and if they remain quiet should remain safe. Ameiko is more than likely a captive of whatever controls Brinewall Castle now, and so we are going to deal with the heart of the matter. Please, come with us Setomi."

Raziel will take one of the daggers with him.


On a slightly different note, I have noticed that we have traveled for a few weeks before ending up at B rinewall, and yet the magic items that the elves had given us remain unidentified for the most part. They might be helpful on the adventure now.
I would have continued to try to figure what they were on the trip up here.
Do you want some massive amount of rolls, or could we have discovered what they were by this time?


"I thank you Spivey," Raziel replies. "Also consider this, Sorin, should those following us notice us at the castle, they will be drawn there, and not to here. But we should go now, lest Ameiko suffer some fate while we argue here."


"No, Sorin. I feel that they would be in danger if we took them into Brinewall under the spell's influence. We four should go alone."


"This mist, which as dogged our steps, the spell cast here, and our companion Ameiko taken; I fear we are being manipulated," Raziel says.
"It seems that the sounds of horns and the threat of attack by raiders is only a ruse to drive us here, and bring Ameiko to this place. Almar, your fiend may be part of this too. At any rate, I would say that Brinewall Castle is the heart of this. No doubt that is where Ameiko has been taken also. So that is where we must go."

"Who is with me?"


Spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

"They seem to be under some sort of spell, Setomi" Raziel says. "Calm yourself, anger here will not do us any good."

Raziel will use his Detect Magic to try and learn something about the spell.


Perception Roll: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

"Many thanks for the information, Spivey," Raziel says with a polite bow. "May the blessings of Desna and Sarenrae be upon you."

Looking frpm the castle to the forest to determine how much time they have, Raziel notices the creature.
"Look there! Above the trees! Some sort of strange animal! We should make haste to rejoin the caravan!"


Dipomacy Check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

"I suppose it would be my place to speak of it, since I have been told that I am the one cursed. Truthfully, I do not know much at all about the curse, or that I was even cursed until a short time ago."


"We mean no harm intruding here. We are merely travelers, chased to this ruined village seeking refuge from men who pursue us."
"The tended nature of this resting place caught my eye, contrasting as it does with the rest of the surroundings. Doubtless you are the caretaker of the shrine to Desna, can you tell us of Brinewall?"

"This looks to be carefully tended. Best not to disturb things here. but I wonder who does the tending? Mayhaps there is still someone local around?"

"There is something odd about the cemetery over there. Can we stop by it to take a look?"
