Enjoy the game gang!!!

Having done this a few times, I know you have your work cut out for you DM. Good luck to all who posted a character.

I know. I know,

You're about to lose control?

Nearing the end of the wait eager to see the chosen few, and hoping I'm in it

This will be my Entry (Dread) to the Giant Slayer AP.

Randal Tullmoor 1st Human Brawler (Raised by Dwarves Campaign Trait)

have a great game everyone

Randal awakens in the Manor where he was employed as a bodyguard to one of the lesser nobles of Taldor. The Hounds were barking. he quickly slipped out of bed, where he slept alone...as usual. He Didnt want to be alone, but relationships hadnt work out for the Ex Arena Fighter turned bouncer turned bodyguard...Something about his dedication to his patrons, and his work ethic clashed with those who wanted his attention on them.

he sighed once...loneliness being fought back by duty and quickly slipped on his pants and shoes. Grabbing a vest and cloak, he was dressed in seconds and grabbing up his weapons belt he slipped it on while he was heading out the door. Everything about the man was duty. simple. no nonsense. No frills. He cracked his knuckles in the fists that were more like small hams than the hands of a human and a wry grin came upon his face...

Whoever was coming, theyd regret their choice if hostilities came from it.

The sounds of a horse outside neighing reached his ears, and he met a courier in the foyer, where the night watchman was letting him in. A letter with royal seal stamped on it was handed to the watchman who in turn handed it to Randal. Such was his position in the hierarchy of the Manor. Only The Major Domo and the noble family had more authority. He turned the letter over in his hands trying to ascertain its contents...

he watched the courier ride away...and thought...Tomorrow. Its not every night, well past normal hours, that a royal letter would arrive...Tomorrow Everything would change.

I think theres enough info here to let you picture Randal. Thanks for the opportunity

answer to requirements:
Character Concept: is a patriotic bodyguard to the nobles brought into the civil war through his links to them and wanting to save Taldor from what is coming.

Your character's link to Taldor and their motivation for getting involved in Taldan politics: Bodyguard to nobles.

Race and class:Human Brawler

Alignment or morality:Neutral Good. Protector of the people.

Role in the group - what can your character contribute in and out of combat::Hes primarily a combatant, being flexible in his role there adapting feats as needed and always armed with his unarmed combat capability. But in role playing he will be the voice of the people.

Background:[/background] Randal Tullmoor was an arena fighter, then with success he became a bouncer in a Tavern in Dalaston, The Black Ore Tavern, was a rough and tumble place frequented by the Miners in the area. One Day Baron Tanio Dalassnos, The son of Count Lucinius Dalassnos stopped by for a drink and soon became embroiled in a fight with a miner. It wasnt long before the Aristocrat found himself in over his head. Randal stepped in, besting several Thugs bent on killing the young noble.

This brought him to the attention of the Noble Family and he found himself hired as a body guard for the youth. Hes served them well for several years now and has a strong patriotism to the country. The Upcoming Festival of The Grand Day of Exaltation has brought the family to Oppara and as 1 of the Senators, Count Lucinius will be in attendance. Tanio of course is going along to enjoy the finer things found in Oppara. Randal is there as Bodyguard of course....

***Note I can alter the link to a player who is a noble or to someone the GM would think he should be protecting***

Character progression, how do you plan to develop them?: I will develop him as a brawler. I like to have the game infleunce which direction he actual goes and not pre-build. I think as a campaign progresses it cause character evolution.

(Optional) Tell me a little about yourself and why this AP is particularly interesting to you.: Ive been playing Role Playing Games since D&D's inception and the character role is of utmost importance. I see the personality in my minds eye and enjoy unravelling the tale with the other players in a joint effort. Im a role player.

This AP interests me because its something Ive never played before.

Randal is pretty much plug and play. I just have to review character creation and make sure some of the finer points are adhered to. I believe he is ready though.

Indeed. I really look forward to your thread

indeed..who will save the crown

Im glad you made that decision. From personal experience, running two separate groups through the same AP hardly ever works as it lessens DM Excitement for the AP. I am however all for a larger group. Its easy to scale up the encounters.

Just posting to let the GM know Im still interested

Randal Tullmoor Human Brawler...Bodyguard

Good gaming all. Thanks for the opportunity. If you get an opening give me a shout

oops I posted as a different Character. Randall is the submission not Eren

still patiently waiting.

all of the candidates are good so the campaign will benefit regardless.

Im eagerly awaiting any decision.

so far it looks like two slots...and you Reggie and Apemantus are the forerunners by their discussions.

eagerly awaiting the choices.

Randall's background-

Randal grew up in Sasserine., The Azure District. For years now he has been a Freebooter on The Merchant Marine Vessel 'The Griffons Claw'. He sailed around most ports of call seeking our Pirates who weren't 'sanctioned'. ie didnt pay for their letters of marque in Sasserine.

Recently he fell into a disagreement with the Captain 'Yellar' of The Bloody Knife on the disposition of some loot among the crew. He was 'dismissed' and now finds himself without gainful employ....

Randal is done and looking for employment .

All but done. just some equipment to buy

I like the plan...Take out the guard tower, and move quickly to the compound, finding grabbing and exiting.

Now is it just me or did the phrase....He is not hear of his own free will strike a chord in anyone else---we may be trying to 'rescue' someone who doesnt want to be rescued?...more like a kidnapping...................and Happy Thanksgiving to you all too

do we know if the one we are to 'rescue' is in the buiding behind the stone wall?

and thanks guys...I appreciate the well wishes and good thoughts.

sorry got laid off've work last week, been a hectic 2 weeks...but im back to being employed, and can now check in once a day, though i can no longer post from work :(

slinging his crossbow and cursing at the aggressiveness of his allies, he had so hoped they could lure the enmy off the hill and hit them from two sides....well nothing to it now, he began to trot forward down the trail drawing his Mace.

move to G25.

NG| Male| Human | Brawler 1st| Conditions Human 15/15| AC:15 (FF12/T13)| FO:+4 RE:+4 WL:+2|Initiative: +3| Perc:+5| Stealth: +2

Realizing they had been spotted, Randal whispers to Scouty "We need to lure them into a kill zone, follow my lead..." guaging the distance quickly and how fast they can move, Randal moves away from the hill, parrallel to the road move action to G31, he turns and fires his crossbow at one of the Skeletons bearing a crossbow, MK II Repeating Crossbow +6 d8 19-20/X2 120 ft-Light- Piercing Shots per clip: 10. 3 clips. fire at a skeleton (1d20+6=25) if it hit...damage (1d8=8) He watched as his aim was true and the bolt sped from the MKII straight towards the heavily Armored Skeleton....knowing, this wasnt the best weapon to use, but he wanted to bait them closer...

NG| Male| Human | Brawler 1st| Conditions Human 15/15| AC:15 (FF12/T13)| FO:+4 RE:+4 WL:+2|Initiative: +3| Perc:+5| Stealth: +2

Ill get my post in tonight when Im home...Been a rough two days ;)

NG| Male| Human | Brawler 1st| Conditions Human 15/15| AC:15 (FF12/T13)| FO:+4 RE:+4 WL:+2|Initiative: +3| Perc:+5| Stealth: +2

Slowly and carefully Randall crept through the high grass near the hill and road they had to cross, nearby his comrade Scouty did the same. He kept an eye on the gathering of figures on the hill waiting for them to turn west...

at A (1d20+9=10)---wow nice roll huh. Total roll with cloak (+5)- 14 Itll be a miracle we're not spotted.

He stepped on a twig, and paused unsure if hed been heard...softly cuursing to himself and readying the MKII.....

*if he hadnt been heard then he wanted to wait just off the road by about 12 seconds until the group joined him...* At B (1d20+9=29) Total roll with cloak (+5) 34 quiet as can be sat in the high grass, not sure if hed been heard or not....The others joined him and if they hadnt been spotted he wanted to...

Cross the road as one with Scouty by his side once the patrol turned off the hill and started west...At D (1d20+9=12) Total Roll with cloak (+5) 17 His feet striking the hardpacked trail much harder than he wanted until he quickly crossed the road and paused just long enough for an acknowledgement from Scouty, then if he didnt end up in a firefight, he wanted to...

Turn left moving as quick as he could in a stealthy crouch through the high grass about 2 paces off the road....paralleling the road for about a 3 count at E (1d20+9=15) total roll with cloak (+5) 19 He still felt he was making far too much noise moving through the brush until he felt he could turn if he hadnt been spotted he wanted to...

then quick like a fox he turned right making his way directly in for a 6 count, then he turned back into the box looking for Scouty quickly..once found he motioned for Scouty to drop and watch, then made a straight line back to the road....the whole box taking under 15 seconds at G (1d20+9=24) total roll with cloak (+5) 29 Once back to road..if he hadnt been spotted and now faced a fight...he wanted to

Wait as the others crossed the road at his urgings...as one they came while he stood watch....he crouched watching back towards the hill and the otherside where the patrol would be...at H (1d20+9=17) total roll with cloak (+5) 22...he waited as the others headed across the 60 feet to where Scouty kept watch.....if there was no alert I wanted to...

head back to join them and then begin the trek out of the danger area...at I (1d20+9=24) total roll with cloak: 29 Joining the others we left quickly...

some pretty bad rolls mixed in there...ugh----this all takes place at H22 for the crossing, if noone has any other ideas.

all creep up on the east side of the hill, then cross on the east side after they all head west....thats my suggestion.

*We will need to secure the other side first*. so it would work like this...

A)Scouty and I creep forward together as a team,
B)wait 2 moves off the road in stealth until the group reaches us.
C)Wait til the patrol head west...
D)scouty and I cross quickly as the others begin to creep forward.
E)I go left, scouty goes right and we 'box' the far side. {1/2 move left and right, 2 moves in, half a move back towards center}
F)Scouty stops where we join (2 moves off the road),
G)I head back wave the party across...
H)I wait as the party heads to scouty.
I)I move back to them,
J)Scouty and I wait as the party creeps 1000 yeards away from the hill.
K)Then we join them....clear as mud?

*chuckle* Ill have to wait til I get home from work to see it...damn firewalls

Might help...I can imagine it, but my imagination may differ from yours ;)

NG| Male| Human | Brawler 1st| Conditions Human 15/15| AC:15 (FF12/T13)| FO:+4 RE:+4 WL:+2|Initiative: +3| Perc:+5| Stealth: +2

do I see a good place to cross that would be hidden from sight?

NG| Male| Human | Brawler 1st| Conditions Human 15/15| AC:15 (FF12/T13)| FO:+4 RE:+4 WL:+2|Initiative: +3| Perc:+5| Stealth: +2

agreed. whether the signal is flapping our arms like birds or fist up in the air and moving downward, is irrelevant, as long as the DM knows we all agree on signal A meaning 'here we are lets hold up again for a few minutes while the scouts go out again' ;)

Randall keeps to the shadows as he moves forward, his features blurring automatically so he wouldn't resemble anyone in particular, almost as a second thought....Hed done this so many times.

Goggles on, crossbow pointing wherever he looked. He hated the tunnel vision the gogles gave you, as they messed with your periphereal vision fiercely, but having dark vision helped. He glanced to make sure Scouty was still with him...the little guy could move like a ghost when he wanted to.

give us an idea what we're seeing Seeker

NG| Male| Human | Brawler 1st| Conditions Human 15/15| AC:15 (FF12/T13)| FO:+4 RE:+4 WL:+2|Initiative: +3| Perc:+5| Stealth: +2

hehe don't be, we're a team right? The ends matters, not how we get there....thanks for rolling for me.

NG| Male| Human | Brawler 1st| Conditions Human 15/15| AC:15 (FF12/T13)| FO:+4 RE:+4 WL:+2|Initiative: +3| Perc:+5| Stealth: +2

ahh then...."I can't access the dice server, so if you would do the honors of rolling for me...Fast Stealth: Rogue 2 Can move at full speed in stealth. (for rogue talent)/Stealth: +14/Perception: +8

Did any of our rogues take the talent that let's them move at full speed w/o penalty? Garroth will volunteer to be on the scout team; he gets the penalty for going over half his speed, but since his speed is 40', he can still go pretty quick at 1/2. What are everyone else's thoughts?

Yes, I have The Fast Stealth Talent...Im a recon dude ;)...

Randall looked at Garroth and said "Ill scout. make sure we skirt enemy contact. I'll move ahead to each objective you point out and wait for you to arrive and point again...For now I'll make for that crooked tree over there and wait for you....see you in a few."

Randall moves quickly and silently like a wraith in the night, his senses on alert for anything out of the ordinary...

posting at work is a b~@%!, I can't access the dice server, so if you would do the honors of rolling for me...Fast Stealth: Rogue 2 Can move at full speed in stealth. (for rogue talent)/Stealth: +9/Perception: +8

Randall had sat in relative quiet in the Dragonfly, catching what sleep he could. He was veteran enough to know that soon the s**@ would hit the fan, and sleep wouldn't be an option...better to store up on it while he could.

The Jumpmaster had put them on alert, and he'd moved to take a position right behind Scouty. He chuckled at how the little warforged always had to prove himself, even though they had worked together time and time again and there was immense admiration in how the plucky little construct approached his missions...Once Scouty jumped, Randall smiled into the night, feeling the rush of the wind and threw himself out the door...wanting to scream with happiness...his adrenalin went into overdrive and he felt that rush of awareness.

It wasn't long before he snapped the token that initiated the featherfall and he lightly dropped to the ground, running with the crossbow held lightly in his arms to the safety of some trees in the distance. He dropped to the ground, looking around for any signs of being spotted....please make a perception roll for me. Im at work and cant access the dice server.

with a slight chuckle Randall remarked "It is indeed a fine day to make war Jax!, a fine day."

He then listened to the ever philosophical Jax go on about how he felt about war. Randall was never so verbose and never tried to justify why he was in the Black Caps...or why he dared go on dangerous mission after dangerous mission....To him it was the excitement. The rush of near life or death. It kept him alive. It gave him a reason to be. He had heard the whispered remarks when he came in the room...everyone new Randall would never settle down, would never tell the stories to the wee ones as he sat on a porch. he would die as he lived alone and with blood on his hands. He sighed and stood, shouldering the pack and picking up his Mark-2 checking the clip for ease of release and feed...it was time.

"Yes a fine day...lets go friends...once more into the breach!"

Treading alone from the briefing and pep talk, Randal stayed away from the others...He never felt comfortable with most of them...only a few. The ones he had shared danger with. The ones he had shared combat with.

He moved along the trail to the barracks where they would be checking and rechecking their gear. Of course he knew his was alright, though he would perform his checks as well...every Vet of the Black Caps did.

As he moved into the barracks, he naturally softened his feral features to be more accepting. He spied his Brother Changeling Jax and nodded at him as he came down between the bunks, taking up a spot where he also began making sure his equipment was stowed properly for a jump.

"Good evening All" muttered the man who typically took point. Then he took one of the copper rings with a nod as it was handed to him..."Thanks...Anyone hear where we are jumping into?"

the Gray skinned Man, shuffled into the room, head doiwn. Looking all the more like some homeless shill...if it wasn't for the military garb, his posture didnt name him a threat at all.

"Randall Tullmoor, reporting for duty sirrah"

his voice slid out whisper like.....but his eyes. Now when you caught his eyes, you noticed this man was about as harmless as a viper....

always on guard...

always watching...

always ready.

"where do you want me to bunk"
