Qizz still (has not heard) pale humans (talk) yet. Maybe their mouths only (breathe) and (eat)? Their shifting (makes) no sense - they (say) nothing with no words and hollow gestures. Qizz (wonders).

Soon, time to (go) to bad element place. Qizz playfully (pokes) Benedetto and Samen, and (capers) about Aisling. Nervous, (getting) out energy.

Qizz (scratches) head. Big-head guy not (talk) at all? Just (stare)? Qizz (scampers) to (see) if big-head (talking) or (gesturing), but no. Weird. Qizz (dances) to (show) them how, but they don't (understand).

mycos cannot hear/ see psychic stuff at all, even when Tallmind was broadcasting to everyone

later

Qizz (finds) Kallik when Qizz (goes) back to Elder, much later. Qizz (stays) and (listens) to Kallik cry a little and (talk) a lot. Then Kallik (sighs), then Kallik (is) mad.

soonish
Kallik ready to (go) and (kill) bad elemental. Samen, Detto, Gabey, and Aisling, too.

Gabriel, Qizz (nods) solemnly at your question. Qizz (is) ready.

reposting the Samen/ Gabe thread, because there has been a lot of posts

In answer "It is uniquely toxic to oreads. I'd imagine humans would be no more effected than an ifrit or a sylph." He shrugs. "For other races, it is unpleasant and fearful, like a bad dream, but tolerable for most."

His companions motion for him to hurry up - they apparently have somewhere they need to be. "Well, it was nice meeting you. Just continue down, always take the left most choice in the forks, and you'll reach an uncharted place where things start to...change."

Walking away now, "[/b]Look for me in the Small Library on the ground floor of the Elder sometime soon, if you've a mind to share your thoughts. I could be the biographer of the first reborn human!"[/b]

He runs to catch up with his friends.

confirming - do you want to continue to the Elder, now that you know roughly where to go?

**
Elder close now. More oreads, more buildings with things. Now here. No basket, not up today. Down. Deep down. Qizz (runs) ahead. They (know) very very well how to (get) to deep places. (Shifting) a big big nose, Qizz (smells) places where Fey (cry) tears that are dry.

The Declarative wrote:
One of the taller oread scholars furrows his brow, and says, "And what is your interest in lost passages of the Bland Fey? Is that what you are referring to?"
"It might be... I'm not entirely sure. Is that what the tunnels under this Elder are called? My myconian friend here used to live under a different Elder but they called their home after their... ummm, never mind that part. Anyway, it was called Heap." No need to mention other deities right now. There's already enough turmoil with Sun and Sky "Actually, I've had some experience with the fey before. Now, I'm curious to learn about them in the equal plane and how different they are away from Uknukhiphidwala. But you said the Bland Fey. That doesn't sound pleasant..." Gabe casually drops the fact that he's interacted with fey in their home hoping to show he's not *just* a tourist.

Qizz (deflates) just a tiny bit when they hear Heap. (Miss) Heap. (Miss) Learningto.

Gabriel Freemind wrote:

Gabe, for some reason, is invested bringing back sun spirits. After all, you can't have shadows without the light.

Approaching Samen and Quzz, "So last time we entered tunnels under an Elder, it required dying. Last time we left the tunnels, it required some sort of great magic to move us. Given that both of those are either not desirable or out of reach, how would we get under the ground to see what we can find?"

"Not so deep (as) Heap. Maybe only requires dying a little?" As if their shifting form and lack of verbs is not enough, the myco's casual attitude toward death is a constant reminder of their alienness.

Qizz (taps) on Samen's shoulder, tap tap tap. "Can you (find) the bones? (See) in your head?"

Qizz is asking if you can somehow locate or pinpoint objects that are far away. They don't know exactly how your magic works.

Gabriel Freemind wrote:
Gabe considers Samens comment solemnly before nodding and answering, "Fair enough, no taking fresh bones then. If this entity needs something similar to what we found outside Heap, maybe there's another under the Elder that popped up in town." Surprising himself even, Gabe gives voice to a passing thought, "Are the Elder trees a manifestation of humanity's sacrifice in ages past? Or maybe they were forced there to make the trees possible... Perhaps I should leave the metaphysical theories to others more qualified."

Qizz (listens). Qizz (looks) at nothing. (Qizz ((looks and listens)) to Kallik) and (says), "Elder (says) old rotten root, Temple bottom hidden, human bones."

Gabriel Freemind wrote:
Showing a bit of the dark still left within him, "Finding that skeleton in the tunnels was a fluke... Finding another set like that isn't likely to happen. That being said.... there's plenty of human bones around now. And their owners hardly know which way is up." Gabe gestures to the new people birthed from the dark.

Qizz (frowns) in thought. Starting their sentence with vague shifting, they say, "(Are) humans good without bones? Can we (take) them?"

Aisling Catalys wrote:

Aisling goes over checking humans for injuries or other maladies. "If this is how humans reproduce, we may have to fight for our existence." he thinks as he goes. "Who knows how many The Dark holds."

He shepherds those who can move toward the temple and hands them over to the any priests present there.
"See if you can get their names, allegiance, and what they remember from their life or world or whatever they can say about the enemy. And find some clothes from donations for them."

Qizz (helps) too. (Nodding) and (blowing) bubbles toward Aisling, Qizz (skips) and (calms) the few children he sees. Strange children, no scales, no gills, no feathers, no mushrooms on face.

still round 2

Qizz (uses) stone. Stone (brings) big stone friend, to (stand) in the way and slow down.

conjuring earth elemental, and it is going to slam its fists down on the ground to create difficult/cracked terrain, to slow down the spawn.

botting

Qizz knows how to (stop). Grabby limbs (grow), bad thing (slow),

taking some creative license here, but I think Qizz would have a 'widen spell' 1/ day up their sleeve for occasions like this. Counting this as most of Kallik's manifesting abilities for the day.

casting widened black tentacles, anchored in the sky

Just as the Sky above clears--ever so slightly--in response to the Sunlord, a burst of yellow light-beams push through these small openings. Is this the dawn? Is this the mythological sunlight, at last?

Acting on instinct, Qizzvutz, heir to the wisdom of Learningto, sends a black seed up into the air, latching it to the fragile sunbeams. In a mere instant, a wide, squirming mass off pitch-black branch-like things suddenly manifests in the air.

Qizzvultz (dances) and (hopes).

Qizz (listens) as others (help) big angry lizard. Big ears, listening face.

Qizz (listens) to their stomach. (Growling) for food? No.

Qizz waves at Benedetto. "Nobody (knew) about Qizz and mycos! (except Samen, Gabe, and others, they shift by pointing). We (are) far underground! We (live) around the Heap!"

Samen, Qizz nods vigorously at your words. "(Bring) friends back? Okay!" The mossy elen looks over at a blank spot in the air, listening intently. "Kallik says you are blast-thumby, but your crazy ideas work more than they break, so okay with her too. We (try) after Council and cookies?"

blasphemy

Gabriel Freemind wrote:
Now out of the tunnels under the temple, Gabriel assumes his previous outlook and remains a bit withdrawn until the idea of the council comes up. "Parading us in front of the other powers of the city?"

Qizz hears word parade and excitement! Qizz makes small green marching people from many green fingers and toes. Makes bubbly marching sounds too, bloomp doomp boomp.

Qizz volunteers, "Not human."

Chapter Two. To Kill a God?

The fungus elen pops in between two of you, merrily unaware of any effect they have on the current conversation. "We all have to (kill) Moon!" The shift they use for 'kill' is particularly evocative, spiky and poosh!

They caper down streets, beckoning you follow, taking you to the inn that Dove has arrived in. Our inn too. And knight boy. And strange boy.

Qizzvultz (is) Qizzvultz. Mycos (use) no verbs, but we (shift) our fungus-bodies into shapes to (make) verbs.

A very strange...elen(?) that seems to be made from a pile moldy bubbles squishes into view. "Does sick blue person need cookie? Qizz has some stashed, not even eaten yet!"

Qizz makes goopy angel and (sticks) close to Samen. Not sticky and goopy on Samen, just close.

Qizz sees smile, and Qizz sees pain. Qizz gives big-smile, and Qizz gives air-hug.

Qizz shifts big ears to show they are listening. They eat much much food from nice lady - so many ways to make potatoes!

"Gin new kind of food?" they ask hopefully.

Qizz sees many things, many people. Tries to shift into people, but people don't like it. 'Eww' means yucky, but also it is funny to say.

Scampers ahead, smelling with big-big nose. Rain makes all smells different. Cleaner. Smellier.

Qizz is good, stays in sight of others who cannot smell as good as Qizz to follow Qizz trail. Well, until Qizz sniffs out the cookies. With chocolate.

When you arrive around the corner, Qizz has already eaten several cookies, and a bewildered oread baker looks on the verge of calling for the guards.

"Cookies?"

Qizz skips along in Samen's happy light!

Qizz can (shift) to be a small green drake-thing. Maybe a little bigger and stronger than the others, just in case. Qizz (hops) around, for fun.

Qizz is brave, just like Gabe! They climb through by shifting long arms and legs.

Qizz (wants) to (chase) new silly friends across the slippery floor! Kallik (says) no, and Qizz (frowns). They (can) still (talk) to each other, but the gray lizards (cannot) (hear) Qizz's (shifting) very well. Maybe Qizz (can teach) them?

"(Smells) like old bones."

I don't want to punish the crew for decisions I'm botting, so here's a halfway solution that uses some of Kallik's resources:

Simple Heap skills are not good enough. Hmm. Well, slow down nasty fire hound with distractions, then. Qizz does what comes naturally, and conjures summons on top of summons. The myco hopes the swarm of fire beetles will distract long enough for the red ape to get in a solid punch.

Kallik does not dignify any of this silliness with a response.

Using 2 3rd level spell slots for a summons. This counts as neither a 'success' nor a 'loss'.

"Qizz (make) tracks (go) away!"

survival: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26

Hmm. Tracks harder to go away in burning stone.

Kallik, if you are around, I'd like Qzz to roll a survival check to orient himself in this place. I've always imagined Qizz having an exceptionally keen sense of direction due to living in the maze-like Heaps for so long. To that end, I would combine all the relevant scattered ranks you have (cartography, nature, and survival) for this roll to make it a +14 to your survival check.

Abnaki in the waking world has only time to yawn, rub his eyes, and panic before a legion of flaming, hellish arms burst out of the ground. They black-nailed fingers grab the slumbering bodies of Samen and Gabriel. Abnaki is quickly grabbed as well, the crimson arms acting with demonic speed.

Qizz makes choice. Qizz jumps in after friends.

Friends (are) very asleep. Kallik-friend (is gone). For now. Everyone (seems) safe. Qizz (stays) awake.

"Qizz (stay) awake and (watch) for trouble?"

"Shifting elens? Hooray!"

Hush, Qizz, the phantom admonishes (with a trace of fondness.

"Tribe? Where people? Where smoke?"

Family good. Hi to magician grandpa before we (go). Kallik mad, but Kallik secretly (wants to go) too.

But magician grandpa (is hurt). (Sleeping, healing). Brave at big fight, (saved) many young ones. No (say) goodbye, but we (hear) it anyway. We (feel) love and (give) love, and we (cry). Kallik mad, but Kallik secretly sad. (Want to hug) Kallik, but best (is shift) around her space. (Hope) she (feels) love too.

(Leave) sad. Cookies don't (taste) as good now, but (need) something good to (make) bad away.

"Glowing cookies (there)?"

"Cookies?"

Sweet drink is good, and dizzy!

using some poetic license here. This combo will use all their 3rd level spells for the day

Qizz smart. Qizz sneaky. (Summon) fast fast cheetah, (run) across field when no one looking. (Knew) sneaky Gabe would be sneaky too. With not-magic-magic gone, cheetah gives silvery snakey the stink eye. Then poof away before (get crushed).

casting bestow curse, focusing on saves, so -6 to all saves

will save DC 18, silver eye, -2 for being stunned: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 12 - 2 = 15

Qizz does flips and giggles blue gas. "Again! Again!"

"Bad smiles. Mad smiles."

sense motive: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 16 = 20

Samen, roll another linguistics check, with +2 from Qizzlvutz whispering a few pieces of strange yet useful advice your way.

Qizz hugs you. Qizz is real. Qizz cries.

"Learningto (is a book). She said goodbyeeeeee-" The sentence trails off into more tears. They cling to the book with all the arbitrary stubborness of a deeply upset child.
