Shadow Lodge

So yesterday before I went off to work, I listened to the advice given by the judges on the 'So You Want to be an RPG Superstar' panel, which I found incredibly helpful. So first, let me say "thanks". So thanks to the guys on the panel who helped me to see that I probably made my item ass-backwards last year. This year it's going to be different. If I was close last year, I can only I hope I nail it this time.

Secondly, the judges threw down a challenge to us, and that was to create that corset. Since no-one has started a thread for it, I thought I would do it, since I plan on being much more active in this years competition, even if I don't make the top 32 grade.

So I'm going to knock out a rough draft of the corset here, and I'm encouraging you all to do the same.

Corset of Awesome:
Serpentskin Corset
Aura faint transmutation; CL 3rd
Slot chest; Price 6,000 gp; Weight 2 lbs.
Description
This corset appears to made from mottled black and grey snake scales, of which the pattern seems to change every day. When donned, the wearer feels it shift and tighten slighty around their body, settling into an appropriate shape. In addition to being quite comfortable, this item allows the user to act as if they had the reach of a large creature three times per day as part of an attack action. The user can also squeeze through tight spaces twice per day as if they possessed the compression ability. Finally, the wearer gains a constant +2 competence bonus on Bluff and Diplomacy checks. If a male opts to wear this item, it rebels against him, denying him the competence bonuses, and causing fatigue like heavy armor if slept in, due to the discomfort is causes.
Construction
Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, alter self, eagle's splendor, must be female; Cost 3,000 gp

I apologise for the terrible name. It usually takes me a while to think one up. Also, I wrote this up in about an hour. Take from that what you will.

I was really inspired by the snake idea, so that was what I went for. Plus, the idea that a corset is not really designed for men gave me the idea for the drawback.

Enjoy!

Shadow Lodge

Okay, so I twisted the arm of a GM I play with to let me use this system in it's current form, and I'm playing a Sorcerer (Red Dragon Bloodline). I wanted to try out a few spells to begin with before our first session, so I at least have an idea of where the character can go for some spellcasting. Since we're running an AP, she's first level. Below are what I will consider her 'stock' spells, unless someone tells me they're incorrect for some reason.

Name: Fire Wave
Target Word: Small Cone (2 points) or Small Line (2 points)
Effect Word/s: Burning Flash (3 points)
Spell Level: 1st
Notes: Burning hands, essentially. Can be changed to a line effect. Cool!

Name: Crippling Flame
Target Word: Single (0 points)
Effect Word/s: Flame Jet (2 points), Cramp (3 points)
Spell Level: 1st
Notes: Short-range, 1d4 fire spell that reduces movement speed on a target. Not bad at all.

Name: Sense Magic
Target Word: Small Cone (2 points)
Effect Word/s: Sense Magic (1 point)
Spell Level: 1st?
Notes: Detect magic. But this needs to be a first level spell (according to my understanding of the rules as written)? No thanks.

Name: Aegis
Target Word: Personal or Single (0 points)
Effect Word/s: Force Shield (4 points)
Spell Level: 1st
Notes: Mage armor in all ways that count. Okay.

Name: Hobble
Target Word: Single
Effect Word/s: Cramp (3 points)
Spell Level: 0
Notes: Lets me control the battlefield somewhat, and at will, no less. Done.

Name: Mass Hobble
Target Word: Mass (2 points)
Effect Word/s: Cramp (3 points)
Spell Level: 1st
Notes: Lets me quite effectively change the way an encounter plays out. Can't hate that. But only when I hit higher levels. Oh well, it's something to consider.

---------------------------------------

Thoughts on these spells? I'm especially confused about my 'Sense Magic' spell. It SHOULD come out like detect magic, but it doesn't. I am confused.

Input is appreciated. I'll be making further notes once the game begins, and we go through encounters.

Lets say I get into Round 3, and one of the items in Round 1 really inspires a villain concept. Are the usable? I know it's a minor thing, I just wanted to know, is all.

Hi.

Please cancel my current subscription, and my order for the additional item at the same time please. Thank you for your help.

Regards,

I just thought I'd make us a proper OOC thread, just to minimize that sort of stuff cropping up in the IC thread in large amounts (like the fact that my OOC stuff was longer than my IC stuff in my last post)

Anyway, on with the show!

Okay folks, the time has come for me to run a game!
The premise is thus: I need three players (and potentially a fourth).

Who here loves those stories about the young man (or woman), living a fairly ordinary life, who is faced with extraordinary events that force them to become something more? I know I do - so I'm making a game of it!
----------
I need three roles filled:

'The Hero' - You'll start off small, but become mighty (presuming you live!).

'The Sage' - You are the guide for our young hero, his moral (or immoral) compass. Learned and wise, you are an authority on many things...mysterious things.

'The Companion' - The friend. Usually the one who gets into trouble a lot. You'll join the group after a short while. Quick on your feet, you're the wily one.

There is a final slot, but it shall not be revealed yet...

You will face mighty foes, combat impossible odds. Can you save your world?
---------
This game will use the DnD 3.5 Rules. Character creation will be discussed once I have my players.

So then, who's interested?
