The soonest I could return would be the end of the summer at the earliest. While I certainly appreciate the gesture, don't feel like you need to save a space for me; I'd rather see you fill the space and give someone else a chance to play if you find someone else with the right character to fill it.

Pravlox frowns as he considers his options, and decides that a full retreat is going to be difficult to achieve just yet. As such he moves to just under the opening, and feigns weakness as he opens up a pit beneath two of the vampires, hoping to catch the remaining ones off guard at least long enough to move the battle upstairs. Acrobatics to move to P11 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Vamps 1&2 need to make a DC 15 Reflex save to avoid falling into the 20' foot deep pit, taking falling damage as normal, as will Felgar if he ends his next turn beside the pit. It's not much, but it's the best I can come up with.

One way or another, I am probably going to be disappearing after this fight is over. My overall situation has stabilized, but the day to day scheduling instability is making it very hard to sustain energy levels where they really need to be for me to be an effective poster, and I will be phasing myself out of most of my remaining pbps over the next month or so. For this campaign, the end of this fight seems to be the easiest foreseeable breaking point.

At this point running away isn't much of an option because Felgar is already under their control, so I guess it's let the dice fall where they may and fight, and have a spare character ready for the probable TPK coming. It does seem like they assume a lot more in character knowledge, though, to be sure.

I'm back finally; as much as it set me up for the a more stable situation, last week was not fun. readied attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Pravlox quickly jabs at one of the rising creatures before backing up to draw them up and out into the room above.

Pravlox seems much less ruffled than some of the others at the sight; after all, he grew up in alleys like this. He quickly summons Rex, and mounting the serpent creature, starts looking for a good place to climb up and watch from above.

Pravlox accepts the aid willing enough, not really worried about it's presence or absence so long as he can sit and do nothing while his body deals with the latest disease to ravage it.

Pravlox doesn't actually notice that he picked it up right away because his life has been hard enough that one more bout of disease is just another day. When it is mentioned by someone else, he promptly removes himself from company, content to let it run it's course, whatever that course may be.

Pravlox will stay in the area, but at the word "meeting," he clearly lost interest in the immediate proceedings. He'll stay around the barracks, finding a quiet corner to summon Rex, and, after a brief discussion on the current situation, work with his serpentine friend to better understand the powers inside of him.

Pravlox just shrugs, "So now what? I've yet to see anything that suggests that you and your cronies are any better informed about this disease than anyone else, and I find the "any assistance requested" part to be both vague and a bit disturbing, to be quite honest."
Male Halfling Summoner 4 (AC: 13 [T: 11 FF: 13] | CMD: 13 | HP: 20/20 | F+1, R+4, W+5(+2 vs fear) | Init: +2 |Perc: +3)
Pravlox didn't enjoy being around pretentious doctors, or pretentious nobles, and this man was clearly both, making Pravlox extremely uncomfortable, especially when the others started going into a dangerous territory of conversation. He remains quiet, not trusting his own tongue in the matter. Sense Motive 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Seeing the delays, Pravlox sighs as he was hoping to avoid having to do this, though he knew well it's effectiveness. Watching from the shadows of the church itself, he quietly summoned forth a pack of alley dogs to nip at the crowd as if drawn to it seeking food. Using his spell like ability to summon 1d3 ⇒ 2 rabid looking alley mongrels from the nearby alleys to cause a brief disruption before slinking back into the alleys. And that was basically the kind of thing I had been thinking for Bluff myself though on a much smaller scale getting people to pay attention to their neighbors long enough to get past them.

DM: Rex is not present currently. And his strength is what prohibits him from wearing armor; he only has an 8, meaning he can pick up a stick and practically be in medium encumbrance. Even padded armor is enough to cause headaches. I hate dumping stats that low, but really didn't have much choice in this case. As for the roll, aside from bluff, it was basically the straight die roll, because he next to nothing else that applies that has much of a modifier.

I would think that Pravlox would have developed his own way of getting through this kind of crowd living on the streets all those years. The only thing I can think of rolling is bluff; strength is out, and trying to treat is a combat maneuver is just as bad. Pravlox frowns at the crowd, but starts to ease his way through with a patience borne of many years of practice, most of it not particularly desirable. Even if he hadn't been a street rat, his size, or complete lack there of, guaranteed that relying on strength alone would get him no where fast. Bluff 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27

Rex has a stealth of 9 Pravlox heads out, wearing his old beat up street garb, staying close to the shadows, but relying mostly on his apprearance to not draw attention to himself. Rex, meanwhile, stays in the shadows a short distance away from the halfling, with a cloak for those short distances that he has to travel in between shadows. Rex Stealth 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

Pravlox will spend the rest of the day the same he spends most afternoons, feeling that the best thing to do to maintain the best chance of success is be to be perfectly normal in his behavior. He does summon Rext at some point, and tell them they have a task that evening, but otherwise it passes just like a normal day.

"Not just the execution, but the process that led to it. It was, and is, more of a witch hunt than anything resembling justice. From what I have heard about this Blackjack, he is trustworthy enough that when the queen's guard goes out of their way to lower their own credibility, he is at least as trustworthy as they are; probably more so, because this kind of thing seems to be quite consistent for his behavior, whereas the behavior of the other side is something entirely new, and therefore more troubling."

Pravlox turns to the others, "Do any of you need to get mounts? I suspect that Rex would be rather insulted if I tried to ride any other; he can be very territorial of his perceived duties. I may need to stop to pick up some additional rations and such, though."

Pravlox watches the scene quietly, and when it is over, "So, what does all of that actually mean? Where do we go next? It seems to me the only real clue we have is is Blackjack fellow, but how do we even start to look for the guy?"

Pravlox watches the slow appearance of the ghost with mild interest, but seems more annoyed at the cards being blown about, "What is this strange magic, and which one of you is trying to use magic you clearly can't control?"[b] In response to the comments about the ship, [b]"That thought had occurred to me, Rutter, but I don't know where we would even begin to look for any links."

Pravlox freely allows the conversation to shift to other topics when it becomes clear that there isn't an immediate need to pursue it. While it's clear that he isn't used to a family meal like this, he seems more curious than uncomfortable about it as he listens to the conversation going on around him. When it's over, he looks to his companions to see if they have anything further to add.

Pravlox watches quietly, "Did you actually figure out what the cause was or simply fix the symptoms? Either way, if this is, as the priest suggested, a new disease, we may need to track down it's source lest it become a plague. Is your daughter the only one who seems to be suffering from this, or there others in the neighborhood with the same symptoms?"

Downstairs, talking to the priest, "So, if you don't know what the disease is, and if Neva can't figure out, who should we go to to get this figured out? Or are you completely clueless on that as well?" Pravlox clearly isn't particularly impressed with the young man's showing thus far.

"Then consider it a challenge to them to earn it in the future by being good and generous men. A down payment on the future. I myself know well the pains of beggary, and would not foist that label on any self respecting individual, but there is a difference between begging and accepting a genuine gift from one who has been blessed with the ability to transcend that life in hopes that he may help others do so as well."
