Well I am starting into a game tonight and it will likely start with just two people and may gain more later.

Just a boy from Brooklyn

So I have the build for feats and such, but what I don't have is gear.

What Armor (+Armor Enhancements) should I look into. What Shield (+Armor and Weapon Enhancements) should I look into.

What gear outside of armor and weapon, like Amulets, Belts, Headbands, Etc.

Now I am looking for the crunch not the fluff. I know Steve is a nice guy and all but I don't need stuff that focuses on being too LG.

I do have a Rules Question as well. If a Monk has no offhands when using a unarmed strike then should my Kasatha be throwing out his attacks at a penalty at all? I mean when fighting unarmed all of his unarmed strikes are considered primary handed attacks according to that ruling.

Hello,

I am playing a Kasatha in my upcoming game and I wanted to play an unarmed character because really unarmed is the only way to play a Kasatha because four weapons is expensive.

Now before we get to far yes James Jacob has said a Kasatha gets 4 attacks due to its 4 arms. As he is a lead designer I am going to go out and trust him on this so we can get that out of the way.

Now I am in a dead tie between the three Monks
CRB Monk
Sacred Fist Warpriest
Unchained Monk

Now I know that SF and UM are outright better then the CRB Monk I do like the archetypes available to the CRB Monk.

I also have access to at least 1 3pp Archetype that would allow me to trade out Flurry and gain the ability to wear light armor and keep my AC bonus. Add Wis to my damage for a few rounds, etc. Its called the War Scholar I saw it in another thread and it looks powerful.

So my stats were rolled but they add up to something like 64 point buy (18,18,16,16,14,14)

I am starting at level 1 if this helps and I have access to two traits, and I can take flaws to offset my character and allow some additional feats (Since my first level feat should be Multiweapon Fighting)

I do have a Rules Question as well. If a Monk has no offhands when using a unarmed strike then should my Kasatha be throwing out his attacks at a penalty at all? I mean when fighting unarmed all of his unarmed strikes are considered primary handed attacks according to that ruling. (I will post this in the rules section too)

Hello Boards,

I am taking part in a lvl 5 gestalt game and have decided on the Bard and the Daring Champion archetype of the Cavalier class.

My stats are going to be rolled soon, we do this in front of our GM to avoid cheating.

Now I do this because I think the Daring Champion mixed with the Bard really completes the idea of the swashbuckling bard. With Precise Strike, and Fencer's Grace he can deal both Dex and Level to damage. Boosted by the Bard's Inspire Courage it can be quite a good bit of swordplay. The human class bonus for Bard will give him loads of spells.

Now at level 4 is when my Cavalier side would get the precise strike deed. Which is fine as I start at level 5 but this means I might be able to take a CR 1 template and offset my classes with that.

I believe my GM does this with templates it would be Bard 4/CR 1//Cavalier 4/CR 1 and allow one side to be bought off at level 7-8 and then the other side at 10-11 which is about the time this will be wrapping up I think.

The template I was considering was the Suzenrain Creature template from Green Ronin, with the Leadship feat banned I don't have a worry about that adding to the problem we would just ignore it's granted and any mention of cohorts and that spawned from it.

Or would this be a tad to much. This does grant quite a bit of nice bonuses to myself but it also allows some nice perks to my party as well.

I was curious about something.

I know people in my group love playing the monster or at least a type of odd creature, rarely do we ever pull monsters like Abberations or the like.

But Feys and Monstrous Humanoids are popular.
So I was curious if anyone else would ever let one into their games? If you have have they screwed it up any? Would you recommend against it?

For example I have players who are looking at a Leprechaun and a Sasquatch Character idea.

I think the Sasquatch is wanting to play a Wookie like character while the Leprechaun is just a huge lover of Irish Lore and would love to be the little mischief maker (She has previously played a pixie like race I build for her.. and dang near TPKed the party with an exploding gunpowder incident.)

So if I let the Sasquatch into the game, should I be considered by his... well +12 Str?
Here is the 3rd party side like to him

What would you do if someone really wanted to play something like a Dryad a creature bonded to a tree who takes a d6 of Con damage every day they are more then 300 Ft from their tree.

I want to make a character based on Cayden Cailen, someone who uses his great Cha to just rock the world around him. It is a Gestalt Game so he is gonna rock a few people with that alone.

I was thinking things like Swash//Warpriest (With Dynamic Priest for Cha casting)

Paladin//Swashbuckler
Swashbuckler//Bard
Bard//Paladin

Those are my general idea, of course my weapon of choice is the Rapier, with best way to enhance its threat range.

Ok so I have seen an idea for a 3rd level character.
Swashbuckler (Inspired Blade) 1/Gunslinger (Mysterious Stranger) 1/ Investigator (Sleuth) 1
This gives Int + 3xCha to Panache/Grint/Luck.

But what else would it give you? I know it gives a boost to both Will and Fort saves as well as a handful of extra skill points.

Ok so Trench Fighter gets a Bonus Equal to her Dex to damage with a firearm of her choice. But so do Gunslingers, would these stack as they are Unnamed Bonuses equal to her Dex but not her Dex score exactly?

Why is the Gestalt of Swashbuckler and Paladin considered to be such a good combo?

I know Armor over Light only removes Nimble and Dodge Deed, but I am just not getting it?

Also what Archetypes pair up best?

Alright so in an upcoming game i am going to have to play two characters at the same time.

First character is a Kasatha Monk 2/Warpriest X
The next is a Half-Giant Bloodrager/Warpriest?

The Kasatha is a multi-armed close quarters specialist. the Half-Giant is going to basically be Thor, searching for the Hammer of Thunderbolts

Any advice?

Did we? On the Sacred Fist and Monk AC bonus stacking?
I thought the Increase bonuses, the little +1s that went as you leveled would stack, but does Wis to AC stack?

Alright so we have tried for awhile and found no one to help us fill out of Kingmaker campaign. So we have decided to run this as a gestalt to help us better fill out our power and positional needs.

Now I need advice on class combos that would be best for the game.

I was thinking of a Bard//Swashbuckler (Appropriate archetypes included) for myself. I really like that style of charming character who can hold his own with a sword or sling a spell when he needs to.

A Brawler//??? for my buddy he likes the unarmed style but he does want a lot of power, perhaps Barbarian?

I know our third plays either Healers or Rogues. Is there any happy middle ground?

3.5 is allowed within reason.

I know this has come up a few times now, and I would love to get a real answer from someone with official sources and clout even.

I know many people are adament about only getting two attacks at most and requiring the upper end of the Two-Weapon Fighting chain to gain more.

However, that is a generic rule, and we are talking about a specific ruling about a very specific race using a very specific racial trait/ability IE multiple arms.

I know standard PCs only get two attacks, but all those races have two arms and the rules normally applied are specifically for the two armed default.

Now we come to Multi-Weapon Fighting which stats that it replaces Two-Weapon Fighting for races with multiple arms. It also talks about reducing the penalties for fighting with multiple arms. And while this is a Monster Feat it is also a standard Combat Feat which is possible to be taken by PC, making this a PC Feat.

Now I would love for a dev to get involved and give us the clear cut answer to this question.

Alright so I wanted to make a Puss in Boots character.
So after going through my old books I discovered the Tibbit, which is downright perfect for what I want to do.

Now I was thinking of making this a gestalt character and combining Bard and Swashbuckler. Or maybe Warlock(3.5) and Swashbuckler (Given the Tibbit's cat forms limitation on spells with S and V components, Incantations don't have these.) Or would something with Hexes work best?

Tibbit
But I am not sure Tibbit is updated for PF? I was thinking of giving the Ability scores a +2 in a mental stat. Either Int or Cha given their history as a familiar race. Maybe +2 Cha for males and +2 Int for females?

It says the tibbits gear usually becomes part of the cat form, but loses the benefits of several of those like armor and weapons and so forth. Am I reading that right?

Serenity is a feat from Dragon Compendium that allowed a Paladin to change their Cha based powers such as Smite Evil, Lay on Hands, etc to Wis.

Now I am curious how well this would make a Paladin gestalt up with a Warpriest?

Adding Wis to all saves (A second time to Will)

I was also considering how well the Sacredfist gestalted up with the Enlightened Paladin (SRD name) being both are unarmed variants.

Alright here is the formula for my idea.

Drow Noble

Here is the Template
Dread Vampire

Level is going to be starting at level 5 ECL.
Now I know that this is insanely powerful.
In total that should mean that the character has 4 NPC classes or empty levels (Unlikely due to the sheer lack of HP it will give)
One level of PC classes.

Now I think Deeper Darkness as an At-will will help with the issues of being in the sun if someone gets clever and casts a sunlight based spell.

Now I am not sure of the class, I tend to favor casters for Vampires and Drow, but that would maybe be a little bit too much for this particular build (Sure I won't get 9ths in any normal class, but still it could be too much)

Any ideas?
Oh for summary here is what this gains more of less.
Str +8, Dex +10, +6 Int, +6 Wis, +8 Cha
dancing lights, deeper darkness, faerie fire, feather fall, and levitate each at will
Constant Detect Magic
Divine Favor, Dispel Magic, and Suggestion as once a days (Drow)
Darkness, Fog Cloud (3/day)
Deeper Darkness (1/day) (Vampire)

Fast Healing 5
Gaseous Form
DR 10/Good and Silver
Immunity to Cold
10 Acid, electric and sonic resistance
+6 Channel Resistance
SR: 11+ CL (5 in this case)

Dread Vampire Template
I wanted to build a powerful Dread Vampire character, probably for the BBEG role but who knows if I find a way to talk my DM into a monster game this could be fun.

I was thinking Human as the race, but Azlanti human is an option (I dont know if they get bonus feat)

We use 3.P so mixing content from 3.5 into PF. A Dread Vampire with Jotunbrud and Troll Blooded (toughness required) would make it even more powerful. Fast Healing 5 and Regen 1 makes this a uber tank.

I ask this meaning the following: Can I for example take the feat Improve Trip without having the feat Combat Expertise. I am not asking if you gain the benefits of Improved Trip, obviously you would not. But could you take a feat that requires a prerequisite feat but not that original feat.

I am curious, how does someone make someone Flat-Footed in Pathfinder?
I am curious if this can be done with a first level spell, specifically an arcane spell, but Divine spells work too.

I am bringing over Factotum and using Iaijutsu Focus with it (Because how else is it going to do damage)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I am going to be playing a Leprechaun character in a level 5 game.
Now of course I feel the Bard class fits the race best, given his many Bard Cantrips as Spell like abilities.
Now I am taking two levels of CR, which are gonna add the HD of the creature to equal my HP for those levels, using the Fey racial skills and skill points for those levels. So at an ECL 5 I am gonna have 3 class levels.

Now I was thinking a Bard would be nice but I am open to some other options. The character is going to be a cast out former royal Leprechaun, such as a prince of the Leprechauns who was cast out after a rebellion of another set of Leprechauns.

But I am not against other ideas, so feel free to spout out some cool ideas.

The -2 to Str likely means this build is gonna need a Dex to Damage weapon style.

So I just discovered the Hidden Priest Archetype on the SRD.

Now it looks interesting, allowing a Divine caster to pretend to be an arcane caster hiding it. And later allow him to without cost cast spells with the Silent or Still effect on it once per day at 8 and once more per day for every 4 levels after.

What are the general thoughts on this archetype? What are the potential uses?

Alright so after showing the Gargoyle to my DM for an upcoming game she said I can play it. The game will be set at level 5, and I am to take 1 level of NPC Warrior or Expert (Depending on how I want to build my character) otherwise I have no rules to restrict me.

So I want to play into the lore of the Gargoyle without being too hindered by it. Just because most are Untrustworthy doesn't mean my guy has to be the stab in the back kind of guy.

Only Paizo classes, though we are allowed 3.5 feats, was considering Toughness and Trollblood (via Flaws) or Jotunbrud.

Alright I was considering a Warforged Character
The only differences being That stat wise I am going with Con +2, Wis +2, -2 Cha
Also Light Fortification racial feature acts the same, but is implied as an enhancement on the feat armor. If they do not take the feat armor they do not gain access to this feature.

Now I am curious what Classes would work best for a Warforged Character?

This is going to be a 3.P game allowing Feats and PrCs from 3.5 and possibly some of the Classes but I need to know the book its from and must own or can find a copy of the book for reference material (No website links if they have a book version, Web-based material needs to be from an official source)

Would you allow a Doppleganger PC?
Here is the Doppleganger from the PFSRD

Here is one from D&D tools

Now, I did a ARG point build with this and got close to 48 points in total. Which is an insane amount to be sure. I dropped Natural Armor to +2 and dropped the Bluff and Disguise race bonuses and got closer to 37 points. Now this is still a very high number, but at least in the ballpark of informed building. Race Point builds at 30 gain a +3 in levels 1-5 and this reduces are 6-10 and again at 11-15 and finally gone by 16.

Of course we then need to look at HD, both having 4 HD I think it would be safe to say.. 4 levels of HD, since the Race builder does not give information on HD this means it is not included. So by having 4 HD, I think it evens out. 4 levels of Doppleganger race before entering any class levels.

Aasimar in 3.5 had a +1 La, we do not use the LA in Pathfinder even if we had it as this is a powerful but standardized race. So +1 LA from what I have seen on other sites is mostly ignored unless caused by some powerful race trait.

Races like Goliath from what I have seen could potentially be played without needing an adjustment, though this can be argued due to their Powerful Build race trait.

Feral Gargun is pretty powerful with 2 RHD and +2 LA, for a race with +4 Con and Str, +2 Dex and a Hit to Cha and Int this is powerful and likely would remain a 3 or 4 leveled race, but I am curious of if people would let others play races like this?

Stonechild for example if we are sticking with Races of Stone for the moment, +8 to Str and +8 to Con +4 Natural Armor and a weak spell 3 times per day work 2 RHD and +4 LA? Seems inflated due to the high Ability Score modifiers right? What would you do if someone sat down and wanted to play one?

What do you folk say?
